We had a very long wait time on a Sunday morning - however, they had a convenient web page to check our place in line, and a text message when we were next. We were able to get a table within about 30 minutes, which isn't great but not terrible. Once seated, the service and food were very quick though - within ordering, we had food on the table within 20 minutes, max. The food was amazing, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere is delightful.

Ordered the open face hot turkey sandwich, which comes on bread with red skinned mashed potatoes, cornbread dressing, Turkey and Turkey gravy. That is the entree dish and then you choose one side. I chose a salad. When my food came it was turkey on bread drizzled with brown gravy. I asked for more gravy and the waiter brought country white gravy. When I noticed there were no potatoes or dressing I asked for them, too. Waiter brought mashed potatoes with white gravy and a corn muffin. All on separate plates. It was so comical I ate it just as it came!! I have eaten this many times before with no problem. New cook? Bad management? What?!!!

I had the most amazing experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Erica, the host definitely made our entire experience. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with a kind face and such a sweet smile. She made us laugh while seating us which is always an awesome way to start a meal. She brought us out drinks, we ordered coffee and water, and the creamers were set up so beautiful and our water had a few Fresh cut strawberries and a lemon in it. Beautiful presentation on her part. The food came out just as pretty! A familiar song came on and Erica did a little dance and sang the song. We were about the only people in the restaurant on a slow Thursday morning and she made sure we always had a smile on our faces. We had such an amazing experience with the black bear staff but Erica was definitely our favorite. We will be back again to see her smiling face and eat some yummy food! I highly recommend this location! The staff truly cares about their customers and how their entire experience is, from the time they walk in the door to the time they leave the store. 10/10 will eat here again!

We went on a Monday night and enjoyed the low volume night. My nephew is handicapped. We were able to fit him at the table with us which made for an enjoyable night for all. Come hungry because the portions are generous. I had the Sourdough Burger and really enjoyed it. Everyone else enjoyed their entrees as well.

Black Bear missed the mark today. We were sat at about 10:00 am and left at 10:20 am, our waiter never stopped by so we left. There were 3 waiters hanging out by the bar talking and looking at their cellphones. Probably won’t be back, this is unacceptable especially since there were only a couple other people in the restaurant.

We have been eating here since moving to Utah. With a previous visit to one in Colorado, we really enjoy the atmosphere, but especially the food. My kids love the availability of breakfast all day long, and almost ALWAYS order the kids mini volcano!! I get the fried chicken!! Great portions and great staff!!

This Black Bear Diner is I believe in Lehi Utah and I went there by myself. It was 9 o'clock at night on a Saturday. There was not a booth for me because place was packed. Then after I was seated 2 more giant parties came in. My food was delivered in a pretty timely manner compared to what I thought it was going to be. The waiter was delightful I believe he was brand new and I would definitely come back here and eat again. Very friendly staff. The Portions of of food are huge so I took half of that home.

Anthony Aka Tony gave us some of the best service we have ever received at black bear! We live this place for their coffee, French toast bear claw, thick sliced bacon breakfast and good energy. Usually on Saturday mornings the service can get forgotten but today he checked on us like there were not a whole bunch of other tables to help. We're had the sirloin special a bit dry. Strawberry shortcake for dessert. Large dry biscuit. Fresh strawberries not enough to go with the dry biscuits. They should add some strawberry juice or strawberry sauce to add moisture for the biscuits

This used to be our favorite place to go for breakfast or lunch. It's gone down hill. The last time I was there we waited at our table for 20 minutes and no one came to our table. They came to all the tables around us but not us . Servers looked at us but kept walking . Today we sat & waited to be seated for awhile. The hostess was busy on a phone call but there were about 5 waiters/waitresses standing around talking. They weren't busy, only a few tables in the restaurant. The food was ok, but my daughter had ordered chocolate milk. Instead of telling us they were out of it ( which is my guess) they put some kind of powdered chocolate or a tiny bit of chocolate milk in white milk. Whatever it was, it was bad. I would've preferred they told us they were out & she would have ordered something else. We never got the chance to send it back because the waitress only came back when we were done to drop off the check. Most of the wait staff was busy playing basketball with the oranges while we ate. Unfortunately, I don't think this will be our regular spot anymore.

Let's see we started the morning headed to IHOP and thought, let's try a diner around here... We found this place and absolutely loved it! We ordered breakfast and started it off with a hot chocolate (9 out of 10) only a bigger mug would've improved it: pancakes and the bear claw scramble. 0 for 2. Maybe I'll try it again when I'm in the area, but I wont go out of my way for it. So, Ive heard nothing but great things about this place from my family in the area, but my two trips were less than spectacular. The Monday before labor day was the first time. I'm a savory breakfast dude, so the "south of the cave" section of the menu was my target. I was told the restaurant was out of chorizo... at 9:00am... on a Monday... so had to go with my disappointing fourth choice that I could get anywhere... Labor day Monday was the second trip, and frankly the store should have just stayed closed. The place was incredibly short staffed, we were told only half the kitchen was open. In at 9:00am, sat at 9:45, ordered at 10:05, food served at 10:40 (not hot).

We’ve always loved Black Bear. The food has been amazing and tasty. Today I ventured away from our few usuals and tried the prime rib. I’m not expecting a 5 star prime rib, but I would expect something more edible than what I got. I asked for medium well which I think did happen. But this prime rib was the coldest, chewiest, tasteless prime rib I have ever tried. I literally took two bites (second bite to really make sure I wasn’t missing something). Incredibly disappointing. I may come back, but not for the chewy prime rib. Also, the past three times we have come for dinner, on different days of the week, they are always out of baked potato. I would recommend making more!

Excellent food and fun atmosphere. I always have a great time when I eat here. They are very generous on their portion sizes and make fresh homemade orange juice. They even list the calorie count for every meal. I recommend getting the volcano breakfast.

I did not have a great experience at this place. I love breakfast food. I could probably eat it every meal and don't get me wrong their food was good but the experience itself was not. To start off they ran out of hashbrowns how does a breakfast diner run out of hashbrowns? I also asked if I could exchange the pancakes for waffles, which the server said "absolutely!" What she failed to mention though is there's an additional $4 cost to exchange for the waffles. The last bit of the experience is she brought out our biscuits and toast about 3/4 of our way through our meal. Again food was good, experience was bad.

Here’s a restaurant that I’ve been seeing major improvements! I’ve been seeing reviews that’s made me question and I have no regrets making a decision to come to try out the infamous black bear diner! The negative reviews I’ve been reading for this diner have just made me realize how many humans are so unforgivable, entitled and not understandable because the reviews they are writing are just PETTY. We are all humans. Nobody is perfect. If you want fast food - go to a fast food/drive thru joint! I’ve been coming to this diner every day/ night and I’ve never been dissatisfied. I can tell that management cares and the staff puts in effort. I hope this review helps other decent human beings like me to wake up and smell the bacon, literally. Every weekend is crazy busy, but I love to watch Leo (General Manager) get orders out fast! Super entertaining to see it all go down on the counter! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS DINER! I had to ask for my food multiple times before they actually brought some of it. My daughters pizza was still doughy and cold. My husband's food was extremely over cooked, and after "fixing" it, it was still way over cooked. When asking the person who brought our food out (not the sever as we did not see her again until we were ready to leave) the person just said no, they were too busy. I understand getting busy, but this was a total joke! When asked how my experience was, the cashier simply said, yeah, almost everyone has complained tonight. Not cool!!

We had family from out of state down to visit the week before 24th of July. We went to black bear diner for I recommended it. We have had several good visits so I saw no risk. We went on a Saturday at 530 pm Hoping to beat the typical rush. To my surprise, the lot had plenty of parking. We went in and it was very little customers. The server was very slow and the 3 cooks were laughing loudly and complaining about work stuff. We ordered the?grizzly and I like my eggs over medium. They were fully cooked. My wife ordered a side of bacon that was extremely overcooked and black. The strawberry shortcake was honestly terrible. Rock hard and bland. I was disappointed and kind of embarrassed. Jim's family restaurant would have been closer for that quality and much cheaper. I see why sales are dropping off. To bad, I used to like that place but hard to justify the price for lousy service (braydon) and sub par food. Might be back but it will be awhile. Allot of other places in that area that don't have the gamble of the experience

Meh. Nothing special. Basically a denny's. Low quality ingredients. Tastes likes mass produced reheated and served. The 2nd star is because they are actually squeezing oranges on site to make good fresh OJ. $5 glass of oj, but its worth it being squeezed right in front of you. If they care that the oj is good, I don't know why they dont care about anything else, like making gravy from powdered mix, and using frozen pre-prepped food that they just heat up and call it "home cooked". This is another one of those places that the pictures look good, but what comes out on your plate looks and tastes like garbage.

They have pretty good food, Avoid the Cinnamon roll Bearclaw though. It was doughy and uncooked when they brought it out, and then they made another one for me which was also doughy, but some of it was edible. Their other breakfast food is good though. They also supposedly have good deserts, but I've never actually eaten one as the server usually brings the check before asking about them, and it always seems to be a hassle to order after that point. But overall an okay place to eat.

If you are looking for a great place to eat breakfast, I recommend trying out Black Bear. They have the best pancakes I have ever tasted. The rest of the breakfast food that I had was great as well. I could not stop eating my pancakes even though I was full because they were so good. I left there stuffed to the brim and will definitely be going back for more pancakes.

So I come to black bear diner about every other day.. the food is always delicious! But today I came to realize how amazing some of their servers are! I had Kalee today and was by far the best waitress I’ve ever had! She had me laughing and helped me make some amazing choices! She was very friendly and made sure we had the best experience! I put too much hot sauce on my meatloaf and when she asked how it was I told her and she brought me a water without me even having to ask! Totally appreciate the way she handled our not so normal family! Thank you Kalee!

Brought my 5 yr old here for the “ambiance.” Walked in a little after 8:30 on a Wednesday night. Guy at front said “Just a sec’” and walked away. It was not busy at all and only a few people were seated and no one else was waiting. 4 crew people were hanging over the counter like they were about to fall asleep on each other. Finally one of them looked up and noticed me and my daughter. As she sat us she yawned and said “I need a nap.” We sauntered with her past about 8 filthy tables, mostly still piled high with old food and dirty dishes. We ordered sweet potato fries and a cornbread explaining we were just here for a snack and the cute bears. Waitress said “ok” and walked away. She came back and said they were out of sweet potato fries. I said “the regular fries are fine.” She brought our food out pretty quickly (because the fries were COLD) I had to hunt her down for a knife to cut the muffin and some napkins. As we ate, she (and the rest of them walked around slowly like zombies. They actually did start bussing tables so I guess there’s a point there. She gave me the check “Here’s this when you’re ready.” About 10 min later she asked how everything was. I said “Well the fries are old and cold. It would have been nice to have fresh ones since it was the only thing I ordered.” She said “Oh, sorry,” like she really could care less. Pretty sure none of the employees wanted to be there tonight. We were there almost and hour and it never got busy and the all were practically laying around. Oh yeah and the carpets all smelled like old mop water. Every door I touched was filthy and grimy. I won’t be back.

Mediocre service and food. They were out of chicken tenders the last 2 times we have gone. We had sat down and ordered our food and received our drinks. The server came back to let us know they were out of chicken tenders and asked if we wanted something else (my child is a picky eater and didnt want anything else). I paid for the lemonade that my child didnt have a chance to drink and even had to request a to go cup for it. This is the second time this has happened. We had a great experience at Red Robin and likely wont return to Blackbear.

We tried Black Bear Diner in Orem a few years ago--it was sub par at best. Fast forward to today, we tried the one in American Fork. Place wasn't busy, we arrived mid-morning. The server took our order within 15 minutes of arrival and then we waited. And waited. After 50 minutes, multiple tables near us (who had arrived after us) had their food, but we did not. Our server hadn't spoken to us since her "I don't know HOW we're so backed up, sorry" 20 minutes earlier. We left, annoyed and hungry. We won't be back.

If you are looking for disinterested wait staff, then this is your place. Stale, cold, and poorly seasoned food. We did go 2 hours before closing, so they must have been tied from a long day, but when the waitress can't even recognize which dish you ordered by sight, something must be wrong.

Absolutely terrible. Two of my kids got their meals then 25 minutes later my other two kids got their meals then 15 minutes later I fi ally got french toast. All of the food was cooked so poorly and gross. My kids wouldn't even eat it. We only saw our sever once bc she was too busy socializing w her co workers. I had to hunt someone down to be able to pay my bill. I will NEVER go back to this black bear diner.

My husband and I come here every Sunday for breakfast. The last two sundays we have had the same waitress Kylee. This last sunday we were sat at a table with no silverware or napkins. When we asked for silver ware and napkins, she acted annoyed. She came back later and set the silver ware on the table without any napkins. She pressed us to take our order. When she brought us our food my omlete was made incorrectly and she forgot the side of toast. I asked her if I could have the side of toast and she said she didn't remember me ordering that. She didn't come back with the toast until we were almost done. Overall, it was such a terrible experience. Our waitress was continually rude, and annoyed to be serving us. The food at black bear was great, but the service was so bad I wouldn't go back.

The food was good overall. I was disappointed that they were out of the stuffing that should have been included in my meal. They didn't tell me they were out until I pointed out that I didn't get any, no alternatives were suggested to replace it and I was still charged full price for the meal.

Seems like most restaurants go through this cycle. Great when they first open, then relax a bit and the quality goes way down. Hopefully they get this fixed as this used to be one of our favorites. Biscuit was hard as a rock and the hash browns felt like the were left on the griddle for a few hours keeping warm. They were chewy like leather.

Went for my birthday dinner. We were seated pretty quickly but once we were seated we waited for 15 mins without one server even acknowledging that we were there. Multiple servers walked by and served other tables. After 15 mins of waiting we got up and left. I spoke to the hostess on the way out and she did not even apologize. Worst service I have ever seen!

We usually LOVE Black Bear Diner and have gone to this location multiple times. We have had a good experience up until this last time. The experience was so bad I had to write a review to also hopefully inform the manager or someone of the service we received. My wife and I went to this location Saturday, September 28th around 8:30 PM. The restaurant was pretty empty. We walked in and told the worker up front that there were two of us to be seated. She didn't say a single word back to us and just kind of looked around and then walked away.. It was weird. She came back about 2 minutes later and just said "sorry"... Absolutely no communication, so I asked if we were waiting to be seated. She just said "yeah" and then for 3 minutes while we stood there, she just kept looking at the cashier who was busy and back down at the laminated sheet with seating chart. It was a little frustrating because there was just NO COMMUNICATION. Simply telling us she had to figure stuff out or check on some things and it would be 5 minutes would have been great.. Like, set some expectations with us and we can sit down and wait. Wouldn't be a big deal! Finally, a different waitress came up to us as we continued to stand there and wait and asked if we were waiting to be seated. We told her we were but the girl we talked to already is supposedly seating us that we had been waiting on for 5 minutes at that point. The waitress basically was just like, "Oh no, she won't get you a seat. Come with me." So we were confused at this point why the other girl was even acting like she was going to seat us? It was all really weird, but not a big deal. Our waitress was friendly and sat us in a booth. We looked through the menu, and she came back to take our order. My wife ordered a blackberry cobbler (she had already eaten dinner) and I ordered The Volcano with a side of wheat toast. She didn't write anything down as we gave our whole order, how I wanted my eggs, what kind of toast, etc. She started walking away after she got our order, made a quick U-turn, came back to our booth and asked, "What did you order again?" I was so confused.. But I had noted she didn't write a single thing down.. Not a big deal. I understand people forget things, but maybe she should write things down as a backup. I told her the whole order again. And she left again. I was already thinking great... she will probably mess up this order because she didn't write anything down on the second time either.. We got our food and everything looked great! The pancakes were really good, bacon was delicious, the toast wasn't very toasted, but the eggs were also great! My wife had never ordered a cobbler from here before. She ate the ice cream off the top and took a bite of the cobbler and realized it was cherry.. she HATES cherry. We didn't see the waitress around to flag her down and get the order fixed, so we waited for her to come by and check on things. SHE NEVER DID! I finished my whole meal, and we sat there for another 5 minutes.. We figured she had to come back to give us the check, and we could fix things then. She was NOT coming by, and then we saw her sitting, doing nothing, talking to other employees. Were extremely bothered by the service. Messing up our order, and never coming by to check on things/making us wait a long time for our check. We went to the front since she wasn't coming by to give us our check either. We told the cashier what happened with getting the wrong cobbler and about the terrible service from the waitress, and his one response was to my wife was, "Well, did you eat the cobbler?" She said... Yes, the ice cream off the top until I realized it was cherry... He didn't look for ANY way to fix the problem. My wife then got even more bothered, told me to pay so we can leave, and she bolted out of the restaurant. I wanted to speak to a manager at this point, but my wife was already out the door. I paid, obviously didn't leave a tip, and we left. We won't be going back to this location because of the TERRIBLE service!

When you are in the area eat at this restaurant. The menu is a news paper of past history which is very cool. I had the chicken fried steak(more than most can eat) breakfast with hash browns. You can have fruit instead if you choose. My son and GF ordered the Denver omelets with fruit. The orange juice was amazing. But if you don't like pulp in yours I'd pick another drink. The atmosphere is kicked back and the waitresses are super friendly and spot on with service. I have only eaten breakfast here but I imagine all other menu items are just as good. Try it and you'll see, oh the menu prices are reasonable.

We are here visiting from California, we had 12 Adults, 1 Toddler and 3 Babies in our group tonight. The Gentleman "TONY" serving us was remarkably polite and very attentive to every need. All the drink orders arrived and then we placed our food order, on multiple checks. Our food order came out and was delivered by several people, after all food orders were brought out, our Server asked if everything was correct on each order, amazingly there was not one single mess up on any order by this large. Our Server never let a cup run dry and asked several times if we needed anything else. I'm very impressed in how everything was handled from the time our group entered (with no reservations by the way), we were greated, seated and arranged to our needs due to the kids we had and placement of the parents. I'd give more then 5 Stars if all all possible, this Restaurant is impeccable, top notch and classy. Thank you so much for making my family feel so welcome and taking very good care of everything during our visit to your awesome establishment! Hats off to you all!!!!!

Super slow service even though there were only a few people there. The food was cold and the waitress never really came to our section to see if we needed anything. It's not the first time we've had a bad experience here, either. Do yourself a favor and drive to the Orem Black Bear Diner instead. That one is much better.

The food comes in larger portions and was decent. However, it took someone 15 minutes after being seated to come and ask about beverages and another 5-10 minutes before we were brought out drinks. It also took quite a bit of time before our order was taken, and we were seated right by the kitchen where employees were constantly walking past our booth. I was really disappointed and had hoped for a better first impression. I don't care to visit again.

Food was cold by the time we got it, even when it wasn't busy at the restaurant. Grilled chicken on my sandwich was tiny (over half of the sandwich didn't have any chicken on it). They were out of kids mac n cheese (which is just kraft, so not worth the cost anyway). Kids chicken strips were chewy and extremely dry.

Both drinks and food order were forgotten about on different accounts. Watched our waitress leave the restaurant leaving us unattended and no food. Had to go get our orders from the counter. Got the orders wrong. Overly cooked hash browns that were hard as plastic AND mine were incredibly UNDERCOOKED. No drinks were refilled. No check was given. Only upside was that the manager comped our meal when we walked up to the counter to leave. We love black bear diner but the service was terrible this time.. hope that changes.

Painfully slow and the food always seems like it was cooked too long, and left in the kitchen even longer before it arrived at our table. This happens more often than not. Tables around us rarely were cleaned within 5-10 minutes (sometimes 15-20) after customers left. Rarely saw a manager keeping up with or training staff to possibly help with any of this.

I was meeting someone there, and he was a bit late. I guess our waitress didn't like me taking up a table even though there were plenty of empty ones around. She was friendly to everyone around, but quite rude to us. When we asked for to-go boxes she practically told us to leave. It was a super weird experience. The food was amazing. We ordered takeout and I have to say we were quite satisfied. Portions are very large and the food was much better than our many recent experiences with take out at Denny’s. My only complaint is that the red country potatoes were undercooked... not that much of a big deal considering our order was correct and everything else was tasty! Terrible visit. 3 of us went out to eat. Service was slow and it took forwvwr for food. My son got a biscuit that was dark brown and bounced my fork back at me when i hit the top of it. My bacon was soft and barely cooked. Had to send it back to get them to cook it longer. Ordered my eggs over easy and i was afraid to pop the egg because i could have swore a baby chicken out have come out. Hash browns were burnt too. Had our food for almost 10 minutes before we got the pancakes that came with our meal. The food actually made me sick while I was sitting there. NEVER GOING back

Great food! Their OJ is awesome! Better OJ than anywhere else I've been. There were a couple concerns I had while there, but Aniston and the manager took very good care of me. Aniston was a great waitress! Also, their portions are very big! That is cool. I tried the country fried steak and it was pretty good. The hash browns are good when they are cooked thoroughly and even a bit crunchy. I'll probably be back!

We had a great family dinner here tonight after a long day of being out with the kids. We had a great time here, the food was good and the restrooms were clean. My kids ate all their food which is not the norm for us, but it’s a solid comfort food restaurant. The service was quick and the staff were all friendly and the prices are very reasonable.

I used to think highly of this place for breakfast, not anymore :( . After leaving I've begun to wonder if maybe management has changed or something. The atmosphere was different - the floor had not been cleaned/vacuumed from the day/night before (pretty bad and it was almost noon when I was there) and I had to sit and listen to the cook's music and him singing along with it out in the dining area. But let's get to the food. Overpriced. Sure it was the large breakfast "The Griz" but one breakfast and an orange juice shouldn't cost $20, even the big one. Not hot. I won't say it was cold (or I'd have given them 1 star) but it was only kinda warm. I started with the sausage and noticed that the bite wasn't hot, and wondered about the middle so I checked and sure enough the middle was definitely cold. I ordered over-medium eggs but they had whites that were not just a little bit runny, but quite runny and still clear. Bacon was cooked on one end and not the other (but that one end was still not hot). Hash browns were just barely warm. And the prized pancakes were quite smaller than I remembered, the flavor was still ok but not as good as before. I didn't have time to have it remade so I didn't make the waiter take it back - really wish I did though. Overview: I could have paid much less and got a better breakfast elsewhere. Sorry but I probably won't be back.

Little miss KaLee is what made the entire meal worth it. Easily the best server I've ever had. No matter the request she happily obliged and always came back smiling. She was happy to keep a conversation with everyone at the table and consistently checked on us making sure we had everything we needed. Already planning my next visit.

This location of the Black Bear Diner chain is what you'd expect. The theme and setting is cute and inviting, but the food falls a bit flat. The biscuits are gigantic and incredibly dry. The breakfast fare is general fine. The sandwiches, burgers, salads, etc. are what you'd typically find in an American diner, but really aren't anything outstanding. There are other similar places nearby (including other chains) at the same price point that offer much better food. My kids do love the bear theme, but also aren't huge fans of the food.

Black Bear Diner in American Fork is a great place for co fort food. Their huge Chicken Fried Steak is always tender and cooked perfectly. And the accompanying cream gravy does both the chicken fried steak and the red mashed potatoes proud! Mmm mmm! Lemonade is wonderful, and the pies I've tasted are scrumptious! Haven't tried all their menu items yet, but so far, worth both the money and the trip! Great job!

It's tasty but overpriced. Three kids meals and one adult meal ran us $50. That seems high. The food is pretty good, but let's be real - it's hard to mess up breakfast. And while it's convenient to have it made for you, I just don't feel like it's worth the money. The service was just okay. In their defense we were there during the morning rush on a Saturday, so it's understandable that we'd have a hard time getting refills. The atmosphere? Well, if you like bears you're gonna love this place. Bears everywhere. Bears for days. If you've had any traumatic experience with bears in the past, I might suggest McDonalds.
