You may have noticed that the average score it has is really good, and it's founded on a very high number of reviews, so we can think that the assessment is very credible. If people have bothered to give their opinion when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to place opinions when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Indian restaurant.
Good food and cosy atmosphere. You order at the counter on the way in and they deliver the food as it is prepared. The food is very tasty. Selection is not as elaborate as some sit down restaurants though. Service was quick.
This place was awesome. They actually give you Mint Chutney too. Great indian place in Austin.
Possibly the best Indian in Austin!! Fast delivery, classic style, tasty food
One of may favorites! Excellent food, and quick service. If you're in the mood for good indian food, but don't want to spend an hour plus on dinning, this is the spot!
Great tiki marsala & mango lemonade!
I liked the food here.
It's fast counter service but the food is pretty damn good and the naan is almost always fresh. Korma is my favorite but all the dishes even the American-y ones are good.
It was quite a bit better than I expected. Unfortunately I don't know the names of the Indian food I like, but loved the chicken marsala medium heat! The rice was great as was the garlic nan bread!
One of the best indian restaurant around.
Very reliable spot for consistently good Indian food. I’ve pretty much had the entire menu over the years, nothing is bad.
This was my first time. Food was great. The atmosphere is calm and pleasant. The only thing I noticed they had several tables needing to be cleared of dishes when we first arrived limiting the booth seating. As we enjoyed our food other people arriving had to deal with the same inconvenience. We were there for about 45 minutes and the tables still unattended. Other than that, it was good.
Food was decent. Lack of flavor in the tikka masala, also the chicken was a bit dry. Good food just wouldn't make it a regular spot.
Saag with veggies & garlic naan are my favorite!
Great quick place! So good
Good selection of vegetarian and standard Indian food. Chicken vindaloo (hot) is legit.
Always one of my favorite quick Indian places. The samosas, biryani, and lassi are not to miss!
The best fastest Indian food I've ever had. Their tikka masala is so amazing.
Delicious lamb biryani! Service is usually quick too.
The best Indian food in town so far
I love this place. Great food and it just happens to be Indian.
Good food, somewhat expensive for portions you get!
Went here recently and have to say it's definitely a great place to have good quality north Indian food. The portion sizes are pretty huge and the food is flavorful and ticks most boxes. The prices are surprisingly pretty reasonable. A Must visit!
Delicious casual Indian. A bit pricey but it's good.
Great place to get quick Indian food with a variety of vegetarian plates. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Love the sauce at this place but the shrimp seems to be a little overdone all the time. Quick and friendly service.
Really good food. Good service. If anyone goes there expecting blister raising spice, you may be disappointed. Had this type food in London. Mild was medium, medium was SPICY hot, Spicy was hot x 5. Not everyone wants burns.
Chicken tikka masala is great
Food quantity is less. basic stuff not laid out on the table, like spoons forks napkins. Thats the problem with order ahead places, how am i supposed to tip before being served ?
Great food. Great prices
Good value and good atmosphere. Not entirely authentic Indian food but it's close.
Good food at a reasonable price
Great food, reasonable prices good seating, but wait times for food can be inconsistent.
The reason I gave a 1 star is because there customer service is horrible!! I did a mobile order at 4:30 said my order will be ready at 4:50. They made me wait till 5:10 to receive my order which was ridiculous. I told told the manger with the colorful hair. Her excuse was they are short staff with 5 cooks in the kitchen. She had nothing to say at that point but to apologize. Smh
Loved the food, loved the ambience. Great service.
Not authentic but decent prices. Spicy options are limited
Great food! Great prices! Will be coming back a lot! Customer service is wonderful!
Good Indian fusion. Would like to see more menu choices!
Haven't had much Indian food before but I really liked it here! I was so happy with all the vegan options.
I always get the chicken and lamb kabobs! My favourite
Chicken Tikka Masala is delicious. Naan was tasty too! Pretty cheap menu and you get a lot of food. Great option and I recommend!!
Staff are very nice. Ordered Panneer Biryani. Taste wasn't that great
Everything is cooked to perfection! Sooo delicious! My family always gets the chicken biryani and the chicken tikka masala! What makes these dishes special is that they use small cut up pieces of chicken so each mouth full is packed with outstanding flavors!
Food is always great, but this location could use a little freshing up on the inside.
Lovers of Indian enjoy this. Not terribly spicy, including the vindaloo. Good variety from vegan to lamb.
Great place. Very nice and tasty food.
Fake Indian food. Corporate chain with no depth or subtlety of flavor. The dining experience is sterile and a little awkward. There is no service to speak of and the workers have that exploited, worried look. The meal was unsatisfing Skip it and go to a place run for and by humans.
Good Indian fact food. Samosas are good. Also try the mango lemonade
Delicious and decently priced food. The samosas are tasty and they offer a good selection of vegetarian options.
Nice place to grab a quick bite.
Fast service. It is hit or miss on spiciness level and the amount and quality of veggies you get in the curry. Overall really good though!
It's very clean and simple
Serving a sweet dish when you ask for the level of hotness you require in the food, it isn't goes well. I am talking about Mateer Paneer.
A simple, yet delightful menu! Friendly staff and decent portion sizes. Great for Indian food on the go. Thanks Ya'll!
The service was good, the prices are good, but the food was only mediocre.
Don't have a large background of Indian food, but I thought it was good
Delicious and fast! Can't wait to come again.
Big fan of the mattar paneer and molai kofta.
Best coconut curry I've ever had. Clean place. Great prices.
Great local spot. Easy access and wonderful curries. The food is fast, economical and delicious. They also have a decent wine selection for such a small, neighborhood place.
Tasty, delicious and good variety!
Best food for take home eating. I'm always surprised by how hot it still is when I get home. Plus the leftovers are just as good. Yum!
Great ambience (4*)... food (2*).. Americanized indian restaurant...not even closer to authentic indian flavor.. most of the dishes had a sweeter touch.. I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for authentic punjabi taste.
This place is a well oiled machine. Very affordable. However I thought the mild Biryani lacked flavor and was dry because the portion of sauce is so little. The naan isn't impressive either.
Amazing Indian food! Not too spicy and had a clean ambience. Food selection is limited, but they are good at whatever they offer. This is not a typical Indian restaurant, and is unique due to its blend of Austin culture
I was so so surprised to see no Indian in an indian restaurant. Food was great. Awesome place and awesome food. I had lamb biryani. Great wow
Good Indian food customised to American taste. Not authentic but good
Tasty food at affordable prices!
Very good Indian food and great prices
Every time I eat here, the food tastes the same, which I love. I return here because I crave it and am delighted when I take that first bite of warm goodness....Mmmmmmm. It is set up efficiently to order your meal at the counter and they bring it to you and bus the table when you leave. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, and nice location that is easy to get in and out of.
Way over priced for what you get! Today was my first time eating there, and i asked the girl behind the counter if i could sample a couple of the curry sauces. She said no we dont do that. Uhhh, ok soooo. Thought that was weird. So i ended up just ordering two full dishes for myself to-go csuse i kinda drove out of my area to get it. I really would have liked to try alot more, but seeing as the dishes were $9 each and $2 for bread, i was already at $25 with a tip. So I get home, open up the little containers. One was full the other was half full with like five tiny peices of chicken. The food was good, not happy with the service or the portions. Guess ill find somewhere else for Indian food next time.
Awesome food, friendly service!
Very tasty. The staff was helpful and kind.
The food was just okay. We have lived abroad where Indian cuisine is customary. The lamb Biryani with the yogurt sauce tasted okay, but it did not settle well on my stomach. It seemed to be warmed up leftovers. My daughter got the Chicken Tikka Masala. It had such a strong tomato-base that she could not eat it. It did not taste good to any of us! It was not typical Tikka Masala that we are used to. The main reason for writing this poor review is that the workers were not friendly. We kind of felt like we were intruding on a personal gathering. It was very unsettling and also unenjoyable. I am not sure we would return to this restaurant.
Great ambience and vibe. Ordered a starter, a main course and 2 Naan's and was done in $17. Good value for money if you are looking for a quick bite and head out. Taste wise the food is very meh and minimalistic. But I guess you get what you pay for ? Its mostly self serving (Once you order at the front desk, they bring you food at your table). I would only recommend to eat here if you are passing by and want to try Indian food. Surely not worth it to go specifically to try this place.
Seems only available in Austin. A blend of Indian and Western. It is not completely traditional but I like it. This restaurant shall be successful any major cities in the US. Very closed to 5 star. I wouldn't mention reason why publicity:)
If you've had authentic Indian cuisine before you'll be disappointed. If this is your first time trying Indian food it'll be okay.
Good, fast Indian food in a casual-fast atmosphere. Solid dinner option in the crowded $10/person market
I love Tarka, they have some really solid Indian food. You can choose a spice level, so it's a pretty good intro to Indian food. I love everything I have tried here but some of my favorites are the korma, the saag, aloo Gobi, and of course the samosas.
Best chicken korma place in Austin!!
The food is great, but the service is bad. 1. I came in front of the cashier register, there are some cashiers, but nobody help me, they're busy talking each others. 2. And then when there's another customer came after me, the cashier help that customer and ignore me although I was just right in front of the cashier register. 3. I place my order, but the cashier did not gave me the receipt; I have to ask for the receipt. 4. I order to take away; but when I got to my office and want to eat.. there's NO any utensil and napkins!! I was hungry, so I just ate it with hand. I give 1 star, cuz at least the food was great, otherwise I just want to give NO star!!
Tarka in Sunsetvalley has some simple tasty food. I’ve gone here about a 1/2 dozen times to dozen times over the years. Unfortunately parking is very tight, but if you go in on off hours it should not be a problem. Unfortunately the concept of first come first served in line does not always work out with their sort order set up. Unfortunately I must have the wrong color of skin, couple times I have gone In despite waiting my turn in line individuals of a differnt color/ ethnicity were called ahead of me. Not sure what that’s about but if figured I would mention. Restrooms are almost always dirty and the rest of the establishment could stand to be kept cleaner. Also, not sure why one of the two restrooms always seems to be locked or out of order, they definitely need to have two functioning restrooms for this size of restaurant it is. I would definitely recommend take out and not dine in.
I ordered Matar paneer along with garlic naan as to go. They just didn’t pack the naan and by the time I reached home they are closed. Can’t even call these people. Pathetic customer service.
The food was AMAZING! Quick and fresh!
Quick and delicious. I had the simosa chaat to start and lamb biryani. They were both very good and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. Somewhat fast food style with an order counter them delivered to your table. Great experience and food and will be back!
The food is tasty and the spiciness can be adjusted to your preference. The portions are a good size. I think it's delicious.
Very good Indian food, nice people and a good place to chill out
Whenever my wife suggests eating at Tarkas, I'm like a dog realizing it's going for a walk. So happy! Tarka is so delicious yet inexpensive. It never disappoints. Go there now!
Tarka has good quality Indian food cooked fast with counter service. Do you want a spicy bite in the Brodie area without getting fancy? Try it.
My friend and her husband are from India and they recommend Tarka. We have never been disappointed. If you like Indian food you will love Tarka!
This is great for a fast casual Indian restaurant. Very friendly service. We had chicken pakora (which initially was over cooked but they happily fixed it), Aloo Gobi, Lamb Byrani, Chicken Tikka Masala and our favorite Malai Kofta. We will definitely return next time we are in Austin!
Great food. Staff is very friendly.
Good for a fast food place.
The naan is great, order the Korma and the saag for a fully satisfying dining experience but you've got to order the mango-lemonade and chai on "tap" to reach HEAVEN!
Tarka is always great. I had the coconut curry.
This isn’t really Indian food but more of a corporate industrial version. Weak flavors and sugar in everything.
Quick service. Good food. Fair price.
Rick solid consistent, great flavors. Could do with the occasional special or change of menu. Never fails to impress though.
This place never lets me down. Quality Indian food for an unbeatable price. I love it and the service is always quick and friendly.
Unbelievably low prices for an Indian restaurant. Great ambience. Family friendly. We went with a bunch of about 16 people and they readily set tables for us. Food tasted great. I got the chicken biryani, combo kabob, and the delicious mango lassi. The vegetarian options were great too. Only downside - I would've liked more options to choose from. Otherwise, perfect place for Indian food! Pick anything on the menu and you won't be disappointed.
Tiki masala oh and the garlic nan yummm
Good food and service
One of the best combinations of fast service and quality food. They are also very aware of food allergies and are a great choice for folks with those concers. I always get the Coconut Curry with Lamb. Its gluten and dairy free but i know im not misnsing anything.
The food tastes great and is consistent. They're also fast and have a little outdoor seating area that my children enjoy. Tarka is great for people who can't eat gluten, there's a wide variety of choices that are clearly marked.
Westernized Indian food. Not as spicy as authentic Indian restaurants, but thats what makes it reliable. Service is fast. To-Go orders are as good too. Good ambience.
As far as fast-casual Indian food, this place rocks, since the price is reasonable, you can easily take food to go, and service is nice and quick. That being said, if you have a bit of time, there are several options, buffet and otherwise, for Indian food which have a lot more flavor and originality. I've been here a few times and while this definitely satisfies a craving for this type of food, I don't quite enjoy it as much since it seems to be a bit more bland in flavor/spicing. In particular, with the more spicy dishes the spicing is such that it's a bit too bitter instead of just being spicy, which takes away from the remaining flavors in the dish.
Consistently good food. Fast service. Nice ambiance.
food is very delicious. Ambience is modern and very clean. food cost is also decent. overall if I will come Austin again will definitely my one lunch or dinner will be here.
It has nice ambience with authentic indian tatse. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
First time here and it will not be the last. Ordered the samosas, which were some of the best I’ve had along with the chutney it came with. Also tried the lamb naanini and Saag curry which were amazing. However in regards to the spiciness, I like it hot and medium was not enough, will try the “spiciest” next time.
Took food 45-50 minutes to just come out. Giving this place a 3 stars just because the food was great and the manager came out to apologize.
Super flavorful dishes at super affordable prices. Definitely want to go back again!
Love that tikka masala and mango lemonade.
Absolutely delicious Indian food for the price of standard fast food. $10 for a ton of yummy food. Cooked and served within 15 minutes
Not sure what kind of meat this is but I asked for chicken and originally thought it was dark meat but whatever it is not a big fan the dish is good but I had issues with meat.
Great tasting food, wonderful ambience. The staff were polite and helpful.
The food was like mix of Indian cuisine but is tasty
It was good f. ood
Great food and outdoor seating!
Gah, I love this place. Especially in cold weather. Warm nan and hot hot food to steam your face as you savor the smell. I wish I could visit more often.
Good, quick, and reasonably priced. We really like some of the curries, especially the vindaloo and tikka masala. The garlic naan is also very tasty.
First of all, never use WAZE to get there it brings you to the woods about a mile away. Google showed the proper location. Now the food.... If you've ever had good Indian food, this is a slap in the face it may have the same names but don't be fooled, it's pretty terrible also too many hipsters there for my liking they seem to like terrible stuff if you want fast food taco Bell is way better.
Love it. Closest thing to a Fast Indian food chain
Good lighting modern decor. Not grate for a date. Fast professional service. Clean environment. Good pricing. I'd definitely eat here again.
Was craving Indian food....not able to get to my favorite place....this was a good substitute !!!! Enjoying it thoroughly :-)
Loved their coconut curry.
Quick service with decent options. Not very authentic but tasty. Good for a quick lunch on a weekday.
Firstly a big thank you to the staff at this place. I reciently moved from Birmingham -UK and have been searching for a decent curry for three years and this is the place. Food is the best your likely to find in Austin Easy parking, free WiFi and it looks like you can order online and pickup in store. Will be back again, probably for dine in rather than takeout.
Had the chicken vindaloo (extra spicy) with rice and garlic naan. Portions are huge and the food tasted great. Highly recommend.
One of my family's favorites, get garlic naan! Quick, healthy & as spicy as you want.
One of my favorite places in ATX for fresh Indian cuisine. Love all the veggie options.
Omg...three days in a row, and I can't stop ordering from this place! I'm not an Indian food connoisseur, but I know flavor when I taste it, and man, the food is flavorful! So far, I've had the tikka masala (my picky toddler even likes this dish), saag paneer, vegetable samosas, fried veggie app (not sure of the name), and both desserts. Only thing I didn't really like was the fried veggie app...the dough gets soft quick, and the veggie cuts are cheap (just potato and onion). I also like the fact that they use recycled materials in the packaging. My only question to the folks at Tarka (and I've been afraid to ask) is: the food is so addicting...is their MSG in it? And what's the base cooking oil used? Vegetable? Canola? Olive? It'd be nice to know that the ingredients used are real/indigenous to what would be used, and not negatively modified for American palates. Otherwise, it's been consistently good!
I've enjoyed everything I've tried here, and the mango lemonade is great!
Best Indian cousin at very reasonable price in Austin area.
Good food and it smells delicious in-store. But ordering to-go is apparently not the way this store works. Ordered over the phone 15 minutes before we got there and then got stuck in traffic. Arrived and they hadnt even started our food--but the store wasnt even busy. Three large in-store orders were placed AND FILLED before i had to go up and ask where my food was, to which I was reassured, "we're working on it." Another 15 go by, and at this point I'm very aggravated. There was no attempt to call out my number, my name, or my food-- and it sat on the counter getting cold until I finally had to get back in line just to get my food that was sitting right next to the register. Delicious food--takes an hour even if you order a head of time.
Good Biriyani. Different spice levels, but brings out the Indian Flavors
Food is always fresh and delicious. Staff is friendly and it is kept clean. Can't ask for more than that.
Absolutely disgusting food. Watery, tasteless and sparse.
Delicious, fresh, flavorful food. They also have vegan and vegetarian options
Please come to Lakeway. I miss y'all so much. Great food as always!
Nothing to complain about. Next time I'll be back with my relatives. It has a good interior. Food is like a place in Baltimore I loved.
Mango drink is delicious! Everything else was good.
Very tasty food. First time I've had Indian food that was mildly seasoned. I will go back.
Really good food
Tasty, consistent, affordable Indian food right in the neighborhood. Can't go wrong here.
Tarka's is always great. I do wish they'd kick up the spice on their spicy foods.
Very good ambience, reasonable prices, taste wise can do a better job.
Nice decor good atmosphere but the food Not authentic Indian real food
Nice casual fast service and family friendly Indian place.
I ordered a Biryani to go and the box it came in was half empty. For the price charged I was expecting generous serving sizes. Giving one start because the taste was good.
The food is good, but ordered medium hot and my friend ordered medium and it was pretty mild.
Yes, I have been there over and over for years. I love it. The food is good, no, great. I have never had a bad meal there. All I can report is great Indian food that I will continue to enjoy.
Awesome, Flavorful, and Fast. One of my favorite places to get Indian Food. Fresh Naan Bread is super good. I get the Lamb Tikka Masala and my Wife gets the Green Coconut Curry.
Nice set up for casual Indian dining...this could be a prototypical layout for future Tarka restaurants in various other locations. The processes related to the food industry of this sort seems to be working seamlessly at this location. It's what's needed in scaling a business to multiple locations. For what I ordered however, coconut curry vegetarian, it had a little too much oil...my throat hurt afterwards. Maybe, I just ordered the one wrong thing on their menu or I'm extra sensitive to ingesting oily foods...regardless, just a recommendation and for what it's worth: I'd instruct the cooks to go easy on the cooking oil. Had it not been for this, this restaurant deserves five stars from me.
They had me at fast-casual Indian food. They won me with great quality curries and naan bread. My family is Indian and curry is a tradition in our home. This is one of the few places that competes with my grandma's curry. Quick, affordable and excellent.
The food was good, but the quantity of any one item is insufficient for adults.
We usually order pakoras here. Its yummy and good for the price.
They never disappoint. The Korma is great...so much like Clay Pit downtown. It is quick, low-key, hot, delicious, and the prices are good. If you like Indian food and want a modern, approachable place to eat it then go to Tarka.
New fav fast food... Hindu Mcdonalds
