REVIEWS OF Kumar's Austin IN Texas

NHK

Both Taste and service wasnt good today. The tiffin combo isn't worth and gud.

Sumedha Chinnari

I wish Kumar's had a Return option on the food. Walked out of the restaurant with a bad experience. The food was not satisfactory and also they need to adapt new changes, 1. They have to serve ppl with lil quantity of food in the all you can eat meal, there is too much of food wastage. 2. They have plastic water bottles on every table, today with so much of environmental concern over plastic pollution and one time use plastic, I didn't find this pleasing. They should be adapting sustainable measurements for customer satisfaction and impression. But the service and all was good. No complain on services. Just the food needs improvement.

priyanka kansal

Not a place to order again when it comes to north Indian food. I ordered two separate dishes but gravy was same. Food has no taste at all. No salt no pepper, no spices or flaver. Naan was nowhere closed to be called naan. Very disappointed.

Magdalena Garcia

I ate the All You Can Eat meat dish. I was so impressed with the freshness of the food. Everything was so delicious. The staff is so friendly. I also liked the environment. I will definitely return soon.

ROHAN RAJPUT

Good food with south Indian music. If you are an Indian you will like this place.

Sathish Dharani

Yummy South Indian food...

Lilly M. Neal

The food was interesting and the waitress was helpful in explaining what the dishes were. Good mango drink.

venkata krishna

Went on Sunday afternoon, heard good from friends but I don't think so. Though south Indian expected non roti as an option, had only meals to eat. Also they serve all in plates like old Indian marriage style. We can't enjoy eating there with family.seems it is only for limited section of people.taste is ok.

Ghantasala Veerapratap

Very good south indian restaurant.. becareful when trying their "vattha kulambu" though.. the vatthal tasted a little stale and not as good as the Kumar's in Plano, Texas

Sabarish Logeswaran

Our Veg kothu parotta was salty. But egg kuruma and flaky parotta are good.

Giselle Alexander

The food is fresh and flavorful! Best Indian food in the Austin area.

Chakravarthy RK

Good tasty food at Austin. Traditional service.

Mahir Kota

This place is so authentic you will really feel like you're a poor person in third world India. There are no glasses for water, you get bottles instead. The serving takes forever and there are no spoons or forks. They don't rotate serving out the different curries fast for thali. Moreover, the non-veg is just bones little to no meat. To add to the horrendous quality, the place is severely understaffed and over crowded. To top it all off, the bathrooms are hoorribly nasty and the faucet is like a jet of water, with the water getting all over you. Would not recommend to anyone.

Hemanth Kumar

Good for the price. Many varieties to try. It will be a feasting for the first timers. Overall a nice restaurant to go occassionally.

Vikas Sharma

Good variety of South Indian food. Nothing too fancy about the dishes...Closer to home made food

Eric Woster

Mediocre food but they make up for it with high prices and abysmally slow service. Skip it.

Tulasi Ram Aravapalli

Worst management and service, owner is very rude. We waited for 2 hours to get our food which is half of what we ordered. Management doesnt even bother about customer satisfaction or giving respect. We left without eating. Definetely i am not going there again.

Dipti Bhide

TERRIBLE SERVICE!, the two things we wanted on their menu were not available, they got the order wrong, they seated three parties in elbow distance where we could not even get out properly even though the rest of restaurant was empty, they took 40 minutes to serve, they didn’t take it off the bill, they were confused and unapologetic. Food that eventually came was decent so that deserves the one star but by then we had lost our appetite and did not really enjoy it. There are much better Indian restaurants in Austin.

N R

Really quite authentic. A little pricey for what you get but so much better than other Indian places in Austin.

Umar Iyoob

Very authentic food. Ooru style parathas remind me of the South Indian restaurants in the Middle East! Visited again recently and the food is amazing. The service is excellent and they make you feel at home!

Gobind Vijay

Love their traditional South Indian lunch. It was very good and will try again!

naveed seliya

Best Indian food in town. First time be there and no doubt it's best place and best service.

Nikita Patil

Most awesome south Indian meals ever! very tasty food. Don't go in expecting a lot out of the decor and ambience though.

Karthik Byreddy

Very disappointed. Went during the weekend when there was a "Chaat festival". When we go there all the Chaat items in the Chaat festival menu were not available. And then some of the items in the main menu were also not available. Service was very slow as well. Apparently they had a catering order for a big wedding and hence they don't have their full assortment of menu items and the waiters to serve them. That is not really a great excuse. Why should the paying customers at your primary place of business suffer just because you have a large order somewhere else?

anup mathew

Pathetic and Rude staffs !!! I am writing this review with one of the bad service happened today. I don't have any option to give negative rating, even if rush is not there the servers are acting as they are busy and not valuing the customers and behaving rude..Today myself and friends went for lunch and one of the server pour the curries two times on my dress.. First time he poured on my pant and I didn't say anything because it can happen anytime to anyone. But second time also he poured completely on my shirt and he is not even willing to say a sorry.. just given 2 tissues and asked me to clean.. I wont recommend this place to anyone going forward until these kind of people works over there..

Raja Sagathevan

Follows Tamil tradition of serving food on banana leaf. Tried the vegetarian meals. Portions are unlimited. Food Tastes good. And service is also good.

Ricardo Flores

Friendly and informative staff. The weekend buffet serves as a great introduction if you're not familiar with the food.

kunal kanoi

The worst service. It took them 2 hours to bring food. Wouldn't recommend going.

mohan kc

Excellent South India cuisine! You feel like you are at home

sanju desh

Tasty authentic indian food! Fast service!! I would recommend this place for their meals and the mutton chops !! The dessert called Basundi served here is great!

brijesh menon

Went there once.... loved the food. Did not dine in, but ordered to-go so no comments on service , ambience.

bhanu prakash reddy

The ambience is great. Provides Complimentary Indian snacks. We have ordered Mutton Biryani, chicken biryani which is good.

Stay Away We were here during our recent Austin trip on Memorial Day(May 27th,2019) for lunch. We were seated for 15 minutes without anyone bothered to take our orders. Finally when some one showed up to take the order (1 watermelon juice, 1 veg meals and 1 non veg meals) we were told due to the crowd, food will take abt 20 minutes & we were fine with it. However even after an hour from order time, no food showed up neither anyone bothered to check. Finally when we inquired the guy who took our order was repeating items from another order to check is that what we were waiting for. At that time my husband lost patience (Mind you most of the restaurants close by 2.30 PM for lunch in & around that area) and sensing the temper, this waiter went in & brought our food. But then there was nothing mentioned in the menu for that day :-(. Veg / Non Veg biriyani was missing, salna that goes with parotta was missing, so were few other curries... We asked another waiter who went on to attend to others & never bothered to bring our items, nor checked with or apologized. The whole mood was spoiled with this experience and will never be visiting them. If a restaurant can't manage a normal crowd on a Holiday then why even bother keep it open? I understand mistakes happen but how you deal with customers on such instances make all the difference. Guy at the check out counter could not even find our order which indicates that our order never made it to the system / kitchen. I have not received my receipt (neither paper nor e-receipt) If you don't want your holiday mood to be spoiled then pls don't even think of this place. There are plenty of other good Indian Restaurants in & around this area with very good service

sandeep dg

When you are serving food make sure you provide the same worth which you are collecting , I found most of the Americans visiting your hotel , please provide good quality and taste food for them , they come with lot of expectation as Indian restaurant will provide amazing food kindly don't disappoint them. Some of the items were not served , after asking we got the papad and the size of omelet was very small not sure its half or full omelet for 2$. Kindly try to change the food taste in order to bear the competition with other hotels. last but not least the people who are serving don't have much experience and no tissues at hand wash.

victor edward D'souza

It's a great place for authentic south Indian food. Great taste.

juven garcia

Food is always good. Just don't go if you are in a hurry because they are historically very slow. They really should improve on the speed of service.

Dhayanand Kandasamy

Visited Kumars on the Memorial Day weekend and the restaurant was full, we had very nice food, ambience and service, first time I could taste the real Indian food. No wonder why this place is crowded. waiting staffs took care nicely even though it’s crowded, kudos to Kumars. Mutton Sukka and Kalakki, tasted awesome

Anju

Very bad customer service.wont come again.

Raghavendra Kiran Barlapudi

Loved the indian food here

Maruti Avantsa

Nice and simple.. can't go wrong with the taste.

Leona Sun

Great weekend buffet! Even my parents in law who never ate indian Food before loved it.

Karthik Bollepalli

Great south Indian food. On the spicier side. Long wait times on weekends. Good bang for your buck. Daily lunch thali priced moderately with good portions. Both veg and non veg available.

utkarsh bhatia

The food was served quickly, however the quality of did wasn't that great. It was after, the Mysore masala dosa has too much of masala and the butter chicken was bland. However, since we were rushing to catch our movie show the quick service helped us finish our food and get there in time

Amit Bhutani

Used to be one of the best restaurants for Tam food. Quality, Quantity and especially customer service has gone down the drain lately. Very disappointed!!

MyWay HighWay

This restaurant follows the Traditional Indian way of serving the food at restaurants. They will go around with the serving bowl and will serve the food as per the requirement and choice of the customer. This place becomes extremely busy during weekends so plan your visit accordingly

Chris Hart

Ate here for the first time this weekend and took it to-go. We were all very pleased with how everything tasted and the naan didn't even get tough on the drive home!

Steven Permuy

Excellent and authentic Southern Indian cuisine.

Ranjeet Singh

Great authentic south indian food. Service is good too.. much recommended.

Chris McGatha

I live a mere 3 blocks away and eat here every week or 10 days. Please disregard the naysayers; how can you give a one star review solely due to understaffing on one visit? Their food is always fresh contrary to what one reviewer stated (the naan wasn't fresh). I have eaten there at least 30-50 times & have had naan each time, always fresh. Today I had the fish curry, keera maysial and paneer saag. All three dishes were very good. The person who stated he couldn't find veg dinners could not have read the entire menu. Everything I ate was either veg or available in veg versions.

Harsh Shah

The level of service here has gone super low. Since last 2 times that I have been here, I was extremely frustrated by the service, especially with the Thali. Waiters will come to serve on the neighboring table, but will return back without serving our table. If you call them they will either ignore you or start walking faster away from you, same with the owner/manager of restaurant.

Prenal Prenal

I tried the $12 unlimited meal. White rice quality is very poor. Do not try the Sambar at first, else you can’t eat anything later. There is something mixed in the sambar, so you feel your stomach heavy after eating few bites. They serve the juices in such a way that they are serving it for free, later your bill goes high. This might be a good restaurant for Tamilian, not for Telugu people.

Sara

So delicious I was really impressed with the food here it was so flavorful. Would love to try more dishes they all looked so good. People that worked there were very friendly.

Sam Hunt

Great, authentic food with prompt, friendly service. Will definitely be back

Alexander Babu

Brilliantly authentic. So South TAMIL Nadu in taste and service. Completely floored. Keep up the great work Kumar's. <3

Symbiotic Hat

Very traditional Indian restaurant. Great veg and meat all you can eat options where you can get a little of everything. You will be served on platter covered in banana leaves and it is tradition to eat with your hands, but don't be shy and ask your server for some silverware if you feel the need. Great place.

Aswani Karteek Yadavilli

Where do I begin; 1) the food service was awful at best. 2) we didn't get served the full meal. Every service had to be asker for and waited for. 3) we did not get served certain items and when asked, he did not say anything and mumbled something and threw a 5% discount at us. I am never coming back here.

McKenzie Jr

Food is ok but prices are high. I had non-veg meal (buffet served on banana leaf). The items were less and no dessert served at all in a buffet. No tea/coffee. They are saving a lot by just serving on a banana leaf (No additional dishes, no wastage of food ) then I think the price they should charge on buffet meal should be reasonable. It’s $ 15 + taxes+Tip. They should stop using soda in food. I felt bloated just after having a minimal quantity of meal. I felt similar when I ate at Sangam Chettinad. All these Indian eatery’s use soda in food, that is harmful and makes you bloated. I will never go back to these places.

Reddy Brother's

Enjoyed the lunch thanks for nice food

lata mani

Free meal by Kazi Mannan....! Located just blocks away from the White House in Washington DC, Sakina Halal Grill looks like any other high-end restaurant at first glance. But there's one crucial difference - it serves free meals to anyone in need. Kazi Mannan, the owner of the restaurant, has served more than 80,000 free meals in the last five years, It is good n u should at least once in a week do such things. Humanity is precious .

Santosh Dheeraj

5* for food. 0* for the wait time (1hr for lunch dine-in). Management needs to step up and take care of the wait time. Management staff (not waiters) are not giving any damn about wait time and not apologizing or informing the wait time.

Heather Forbes

I had the non vegetarian thali and loved everything it came with. The food looks, smells, and tastes wonderful. The thali is great if you're hungry and want to try a few meats, soup, yogurt, bread, rice, and a small dessert. The restaurant had a wide variety of tea and milk based drinks.

gouri prabhakar

If you have been craving authentic South Indian served in the traditional way, this is the place!

Hemakumar Kandappan

One of the best Tamilnadu restaurants in Austin. Must visit. Do try their weekend lunch special.

jitender kumar

Great South India food, will be back soon.

Za Yaz

Best authentic Indian food in Austin served in banana leaf. little pricey but worth it

Rajesh Uday

Not as good as Kumars Plano, below average service and overpriced for mediocre food quality.

Sujay Sahoo

I found a hair in my food and they put random stuff in their water and almost gave us the wrong food.

Sagnik Saha

Good authentic South Indian cuisine at a good price.

Ananth R

We went there at noon time and ordered meals. serving folks missed lots of items (chapathi, papad,...) and they don’t come near table after first time. Poor customer service. Vegetarian food taste is horrible at this place. Non vegetarian food is ok it seems. Rice didn’t cooked properly. For non-veg meals why they are providing vegetables similar to veg meals ??? Overall, this place need lot of fixes starting from serving staffs to kitchen staffs. Hope the management will fix it before they loss it’s customers.

D R

Kumar's is on of my favorite indian places to eat. you have a choice of vegetarian or non vegetarian thali or you could order a la carte. if you do choose the thali, the food is unlimited and really good. of all the items on the thali, i like the goat curry.... the last couple of time i went there i just ordered the goat curry a la carte. the food is spicy, so enjoy.

Chandrasekara Kayamboo

Good South Indian Restaurant at North Austin.

Muralidharan Vadivel

Quality of the food has dropped steeply. Chicken was floating on the oil and there was no difference between two different Curry's in terms of taste. To top it off, they charged $15 for a curry which was mentioned as $11 in the menu(chicken chops curry). However, they were curteous enough to not charge us for a dish that was not cooked properly. Hence decided to give them one star.

Shruti Tiwari

We hired Kumar’s restaurant as our wedding caterer! And that was the best decision... Mr. Ashok (the owner) was responsive, responsible, helped out throughout our wedding. He went above and beyond to make sure the bride and groom were not stressed out about the small details and also very gracious with our guests... Mr. Ashok was so thoughtful that he made sure that me and my husband got to try all the food in between us mingling with our guests. Coming to the food, it’s the BEST INDIAN FOOD that we have had here in the US! Each and every guest came specially to us to tell us how amazing the food was! There was not a single dish during ALL 3 events for our wedding where the food was not appreciated by everyone! We had 3 events and the food theme for all 3 events were different- ranging from Indian street food theme to South Indian food for our wedding to an amazing array of North and South Indian food for the reception! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in Austin or who is visiting Austin, and also wedding parties who need Indian food to be catered..

Deven Hariyani

I called ahead to order dosas and idli for Mother’s Day. (It surprising that no Indian restaurants open before noon to cater towards a early lunch or brunch crowd on special holidays). Anyways, the staff allowed me to pickup my other 30m before they opened (11:30am) and the food was exceptional! I had also called other places but Kumar’s was the most accommodating and spoke the best English. I highly recommend Kumar’s.

Himanshu Shekhar

Substandard and expensive

Mathangi krishnamurthi

The food is very good and very traditional. The fare is very good quality and tastes like prepared at home.

Shaunak Joshi

The best South Indian restaurant in Austin. Food is really delicious (Veg as well as Non Veg). Prices are worth the taste (only fish is expensive). Dosa, Sambaar, Chicken literally everything is tasty. And for bachelors the Thali option is awesome. One gets to eat a lot of variety and it's unlimited.

Amruta Ponkshe

Great place for authentic Southern Indian food. The food was good, pretty close to what one can have back in India. Try the drinks too, surprisingly good.

Deepak S

Great food. The buffet had many options and the food was good.

dilip santhanam

Service is still okay. Food served over banana leaf is good. Desserts are pretty close to authentic

Anil Parsi

Lethargic service. Waited forty minutes for curd rice and butter milk, before we cancelled our order. Unprofessional waiters who didn't care about our orders enough.

Alexander Boulgakov

My Indian friends say this is pretty authentic South Indian food. I really enjoyed it.

Shawn Ebert

Great Nan and good goat based curry. Will definitely go back to try other dishes.

Ram Kaul

Kumar's is a decent south indian restaurant with some unique touches like weekend served buffet. The menu was ok and favors ok as well. I feel Austin has got much better south indian places now. The competition has become much more fierce now. The new arrivals serve significantly better flavors and are also located in more desirable neighborhoods. Because of this we rarely ever goto Kumars now.

Manish Shrestha

Food was fresh and tasted ok. Description said long grained rice for biryani but was not. Wait time was soooo long...and lastly as most Indian restaurants do, brought the appetizer after entrees

U. K. Dey

I ordered kari dosai and got shocked. There is no way that kari dosai cost $12. I hardly found goat in that thing. To me they just robbed me.

Izzy Dizzy

Great quality food and service at good prices

Bighneswar Sabat

Great food and awesome spread. Go if u want yo relish South Indian food around Austin. Must try - Chennai Chilli Chicken and Mutton Biryani.

khyati Chaudhary

Didn't like the food and mainly ambience..

Lesley McDowell

Don't give any weight to the negative reviews. This place is traditional Southern India. 95% of the people eating there were of Indian decent. The food was excellent and the experience was awesome. Eating with your hands is an interesting experience but I would highly recommend eating on the weekend to take advantage of the all you can eat!!

mohammad malik

I really don't like writing reviews but in this case I thought to write a review so that people might know abuab these horrible food I ordered Chennai chilli chicken which was made up of cheap chicken and fried rice was terriabl this might be the worst fried rice I ever had and people just say your money I don't know how this restaurant got 4 star rating I feel sorry the way they are cheating customers with their cheap meat it's a shame

Priya Nair

We had good food... service was also fast... non veg thali/meals was very good...

Sriram Prasad Rajagopal

I went to this place expecting it to be as good as the one in Plano, TX but unfortunately it was not. They had very few people to attend to the tables and the food was below par compared to the one in Plano. Spice level was a bit mild as well, so if you are someone who does not do well hot and spicy food, this might work for you. The place did not seem very clean overall.

ashok kumar

I recently, moved from other state and tried in these place and tried Non-Veg thali and i like the most is Fish currry .Mainly they placed everything on banana leaves , i was tummy full to get an unlimited food for reasonable price. Finally thankful to all guys for serving good food.

Pawan Joshi

Good all-you-can-eat South Indian meal on a traditional Banana leaf. Recommend eating with hands for the proper experience.

Stan Smith

First time visit and it wont be the last!

Varun Kumar

It is a traditional all you can eat place. 4 stars especially for the service. People are really friendly. The hand wash and restroom is untidy. Not a great ambience.

Hariharan GM

Serving food on a banana leaf is amazing. The quality and standard of the food is incredible. My favorite is Veg meals/Thali and the sides. Overall experience remebers me eating at back home. Health Benefits of Eating food on BANANA LEAF:- -The chlorophyll in the leaves prevents intestinal ulcer and skin disease. Nutrients mix with the food. -It cleanses the blood. -It stimulates appetite and helps digest food. -Improves skin health. -It soothes the mucous lining in the stomach and cures ulcer. -It is a good remedy for kidney stones and other bladder related diseases. -It boosts Immune system.

Cody Conder

Very authentic and delicious Indian food. The service was acceptable, though I wish the waitstaff was a little more attentive - I had to ask for my water to be refilled a couple of times. I will likely return when I have a craving for Indian cuisine.

Anoosha Reddy

Individual orders are good, didn't like the thali ... however I leave it to individual taste for thali ..won't generalize

Charita Atluri

We discovered this place by accident. It's authentic South Indian (Tamilnadu ) Food. We really enjoyed the quality of food.

Karthik G

Weekend meals and parottas are good. I have visited the Dallas restaurant. This one is costly than Dallas one. The sides are not worth for money. Coffee/Tea are bad. Suggest they reduce prices of sides and add more veggie options. Off late they started doing special nights or lunches which is a good thing. I would recommend this for non veg meals during weekends. I once accompanied my colleague from China and she liked it and went again. Staffs are friendly and they play good music.

Lyric Wardlow

My boyfriend and I came on a Saturday evening and waited at the front waiting area trying to figure out if we seated ourselves or someone brings us to a table for about 5 minutes. It was extremely awkward. Finally the guy comes up and brings us to a table. Then he gave us literally lukewarm water to drink out of very small metal cups. The waiter was all over the place. Food was average. I would have rather went to Tarka Indian Kitchen.

VM Shan

Loved the tiffin combo! Very fresh!

Yokesh R

Wish there was a 0 for this review! One of the worst days at a restaurant. Quality has dropped alarming levels. The bearded waiter had too much attitude and till the end couldn’t get what we ordered. I guess the management cares least about customers. I have had my last bite at Kumar’s. Avg food and pathetic service! Wise to hang out elsewhere.

Michael Sustaíta

Incredible food. I walked in pretty late, so they had a limited menu, but that did NOT damper my experience at all. The late night options were fantastic and I left full and happy. The chai was exceptional. I'm looking forward to coming back.

Shibi BP

Being an Indian, I'm a hard-core fan of Indian food.. I love village and street food which is very popular.. This place keeps a complete justice to the Indian flavours.. We tried the Chicken kothu porotta and a chai with ginger and cardamom in it ! Wow ! I loved it and could satisfy my cravings for Indian food ☺

Ravi Teja

Didnt get a chance to have lunch as its crazy busy wait time was more than 40 min, its nice its busy place as it is best may be next hopeing to get a chance to have lunch over hear

Manmohan Namdeo

Good food, fast service ,good place to visit

Kavitha Rajendran

Best South Indiank food we ever had it. Been to Kumars in Plano and in Houston. Austin is the best among the Kumars. Every Item we had is great and like the hospitality of the wait staff is remarkable.

Aravindakrishna R

Nice Indian restaurant with good food options and taste

Ramya Sandeep

I came from Indianapolis to visit Austin, where we have very few indian restaurants and this place is very unique reminded me of home. Heads Up, expect to eat with your hands here (South indian style).

Brian Cain

My wife and I stopped in for lunch and they had some great dishes.

Subhajit Bej

As much as you can eat lunch menu is great. Delicious food. Good service. Highly recommended.

Preeti K

There were just 2 staff attending the complete restaurant on a busy Friday evening! Customers could see they were struggling. They tried the best but couldn't keep up with the influx. The management should ensure the restaurant has sufficient staff to run it. Food was good and its authentic southern Indian cuisine, but 1 star for poor management.

Riya Chauhan

The food is okay but the wait is tooooo much. Like, it's not really worth it because the food is a little to pricy but the people are nice but some of them are rude.

Laavanya Shriram

Food is above average, not as clean, while service here is consistently bad. The management doesn't care whether it's costumers are being fed or if they are dissatisfied. One of the dishes from our order was forgotten. When the waitress brought it to manager's notice, he didn't put in a rush order or apologize or suggest substitutions. Though the food is good, service here is so bad that we end up going elsewhere

Akhil Penuballi

Good food. Felt like south indian home cooked food.

Amy Justice

This place is so good!! The service is very friendly and attentive. The menu has a lot of great options. Everything we had was so good. They also don't have artificial colors or flavors or any imitation foods (the crab is real crab) and they have many vegan and vegetarian options clearly labeled on the menu if meat isn't your thing. There's a bit of a wait for your food to arrive but it is worth it. Trust me.

Manohar Reddy

The food was tasting ok! But the quantity was too less for the cost we pay. Please look into the quantity you serve!!

Harsh Kotak

We arrived 10 mins before close time. However they did not take last orders. Also we tried calling before coming, phone went unanswered. Disappointed. They should serve until listed open time legally.

Kalpit Kalaria

Awesome food and service

Simran Prakash

Great food! A little slow on service, but otherwise excellent!!!

gomathy rameshkumar

Great place, loved the food, great quality

Madhan Kumar

Authentic south Indian food I ever had in USA

Bricita

Food is SO good! Service is good too. They open at 6pm and that threw us off a little. Worth the 15min wait!

monica jagga

Really pathetic food. The biryani is terrible. The meat in it was so dry and it seemed like two days old food heated up again and again. Went there as it seemed famous but the non veg items are too bad and they don't have good varieties for non veg. The service was good but no point of going to a place with terrible tasteless food.

Kaushik P

The best indian food which I tasted across Austin

Mohanadas Kumaran

Took forever to get a second paratta

preeza shrestha

Have been there multiple times. Good food.

December White

I’ve been here many times before and it’s usually good. But this last time we got there at 10 and it was just not a good experience. Apparently the kitchen closes at 10 so they do not serve ANY curries at all!! We didn’t know this. And even though we got there 2 hours before it actually closed. The waiter took a really long time to ask for our order, to give us more water even after we asked many times, and the bring out our food. I understand when you are low in staff and have a long day, but there was only 2 other families there besides us. It was not busy. The food was okay. It’s really a shame. Usually I recommend this place. Just pretty disappointing this last time.

varun devaraj

Food was great and perfectly balanced. Nowadays I am used to less spicy food and this is perfect. We ordered Veg Meal with side orders of fish fry and Natukozhi fry. Liked the Natukozhi fry more. 4 stars since the fish fry came very late we stopped eating and was waiting for it to come since it was taking a long time.

Maher Khan

Really good south indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian food at very affordable prices! The place is big and the services are great. My favorite is the veg thali (photo attached).

Bethany Hicks

Nice staff, delicious food, quick & attentive service, & very unique menu options. Can't wait to return! Pictures is the "after 10pm" menu.

Milind Siddhanti

Amazing food, delicious south Indian food and good ambience.

john domotor

Best indian food in pville and its open late. Me and my girlfriend love this place

Umer Naveed Seliya

Have heard about it for awhile but first time we went and got there 10 min before closing. Super nice staff, no push or rush. The food was really good and satisfied my cravings. Definitely a restaurant for the family outing list!

Sumitha Tharasingh

Good Indian restaurant. Good options on the menu. Good food.

talluri nagasreenivasu

Decent Tamil food, ordered paniyaram it was good. Tried their Oor Style parotta with chicken gravy, it was decent, parotta didn’t seem that fresh. I had been to their Dallas location and felt it was much better than Austin one. Would recommend for anyone looking for Tamil style food, loved their tea and fritters as starters, best part

Rajendra Pawar

We are surprised how this restaurant is rated 4 star which made us going to Kumar's. we felt like eating on mess with unlimited white rice with chicken/mutton and fish curry's. NO Appetizers . All curry's taste the same. $15 per plate is NOT worth it. Will never visit again.

Authentic and yummy! I often find Indian food too spicy however the spice level was perfect and the flavors were perfect without too much heat. I highly recommend. I would give 5 stars but the restrooms were dirty and could use a remodel.

The owner was fighting with all customers on that I was having lunch..I ordered at 2:20 pm got my food at 3 Pm..just for non-veg thali..he was arguing with me for the delay..owner was so rude..

Best Place to have Indian food in Texas. Their Sambar Idly , Mysore Dosa, Kothu Parotta and Chicken Biryani are a must try. Will be Happy to drive to Austin again for a visit here.

Visited for weekend lunch.. ordered 6 items in the table between 4 friends and shared the food between us.. but staff came and told us TWICE that we can't share without caring to check if we have ordered for all.. and service was also not upto mark.. I was visiting Austin and went there on recommendation from friend.. but wouldn't recommend it personally.. didn't like the behavior of the staff..

Food was good but service sucks! Slow to take order, look forever to get 1 persons order. I was one of 3 tables in the place.

Is this really Kumar’s or some thrown up franchisee who use the name? Right from the reservation it was a mess. We asked for a high chair and the guy offered a push up chair which we accepted, only to find it didn’t have belts (isn’t this a safety violation?). Then I said I need a chair with belts and they didn’t have one- so we couldn’t even eat peacefully since my 1.5 year old son was jumping up and down . Then the service and the waiters. 20 mins for every ask and the girls there are serving me as if they are throwing free food for me- seriously? I was thinking- Why are you so frustrated when I ask you for rice??? Aren’t you paid? If you’re underpaid you should talk to the employer not vent on me- I AM YOUR DAMN CUSTOMER. When I go to Kumar’s Plano, I get a feeling I’m spoilt with the service and never think of the expensive food I buy. I regret every penny I spent on this dumpster. You guys lost a customer for life.

Very good Indian food. Has a more traditional cuisine than a lot of places. food was very good. some of the best rice and bread i have had. definitely worth checking out. don't let the location and appearance fool you, its quality.

Dhaval Metre

Taste not that good. Nonveg curries were not that good.

Great South Indian meals, best time to visit is weekend lunches

Vasanthapriya gurumoorthy

Liked non veg options. Friendly service. Will be crowded on weekends. I don't prefer having drinks there as their base will be similar for everything they make there. Basundhi and mango lassi seems to be having similar base.

Amazingly authentic food. I love it

The food here is fantastic! I was expecting a slightly different menu, but the food is from a different part of India than the other Indian food I have tried. Service was a little slower than I would have liked and I’m still not sure if the menu is meant to be served family style, but that aside, if you are open to trying something new and delicious I highly recommend this place.

Priyanka Bindumadhavan

The food is good and less spicy compared to Houston
