Good Vegetarian food, and all the items are tasty

Stacey Banks

Ok spot for delicious vegetarian food. A favorite evening place of mine. There was fast, efficient, and courteous service. Prices that won't shock you. My apartment is far from here, so I can't visit often.

Jarrett Estep

I dont hand out five stars unless an establishment deserves it. This place is immaculate, genuine and some of the best Indian food I've ever had the pleasure of devouring. Its vegetarian...do NOT let that fool you. Tea seems naturally divine. Menu changes on a day to day basis sometimes and is served with flavorful desserts at the end. There is a live temple nearby and open to all as well as a gift shop open for questions. They are combined together. Trust: this is one experience you want in Dallas.

Micah Duran

Great food! I loved being able to walk in and immediately start serving myself food at the buffet. The servers were still very attentive and friendly!

Cn Dub

One of my favorite places in dallas to go.

Brian Higginbotham

If it feels like you're eating in a temple, that's because you are. A Hare Krishna temple to be exact. You'll eat from a buffet, and the selections change daily. (Check the website for the options of the day.) The food ate clean and vegetarian, as you might expect. The chickpea curry was hearty, but not heavy. I also liked the dal, especially sopping it up with fresh-baked wheat bread. They always have an "international" selection, and for us, it was ziti. The tamarind tea is also recommended. Everything just adds to the experience. So sit under the broad tree in the courtyard, if it's not too hot, and leave Texas behind (or, rather, below).

Great place, atmosphere, and most of all great food

Shruti Kshirsagar

Great ambiance. but the food is not what we expect in a Indian restaurant. Its more towards the american style. The tamarind tea is an awesome drink with amazing flavors. the dessert was so delicious. But the curries, rice and salad bar were mundane. Few food items had truly authentic Indian taste. But its not true for all of them. They offer good variety of breads. But being truly Indian, we miss roti at this place.

Lisa Chase

vegetarian food and the atmosphere at this place is great. This place will surprise you. I'll return family next time. It has a nice atmosphere. Similar to a cafe in Las Vegas I loved.

Good only if u don't want spicy

Chris Kenney

Very unique experience. Great food. Kind waiters. Attached to a temple for Hane Krishna so you may not expect that when just going to a restaraunt. Some call this a cult. Its an offshoot of hinduism. We took our shoes off and listened to the chanting. Really cool. Make up your own mind.

Siddhesh Deshpande

Nice light and simple food. Not a full fledged buffet

Ashima Tayal

The buffet was super delicious. The seating is a little cramped and it was very crowded since we went in peak hours. Apart from that, since it is in Temple premises, the experience is very peaceful.

Guillermo Ames

A visit here is more than a meal. The restaurant, situated inside the palace, offers vegetarian (mostly vegan) food. It is served cafeteria style. Some outdoor seating available. In addition to fantastic food, one can learn to cook vegetarian food and take classes in yoga, tai chi as well as other offerings. They have a gift shop too.

Sean Evans

Yummy! I forgot there was no meat!

Sachin Naik

Food not great, very oily and limited options. Only buffet option. Reviews are fake, beware!

Rahul Rao

This place has a small entrance on a side street, which can be missed. Wait time at the lunch buffet line was about 20 minutes around sat 1pm. Very tasty home style Indian dishes in a nice courtyard or inside seating. It is right in the middle of the prayer room and gift shop, which was unique.

rishab goel

Kalachandji's is a pure vegetarian restaurant inside Iskcon premises. I tried the buffet and loved their simple yet very delicious food. The dal( lentil) and beans were the best I ever had. I liked the sweet and sour taste of tamarind water. Everything was so fresh and tasted like home made food cooked with love.

Sweet Venom

Located inside the ISKCON Temple in Dallas. Pure, “satvik”, vegetarian/vegan friendly food. Not spicy at all (by Indian standards), but very flavorful. Their vanilla kheer was one of the best I have tasted! Very reasonable price, value-for-money.

Vida Rose

Great food, peaceful atmosphere

Danila

This place is beautiful!!! It's a hare Krishna temple where you can definitely feel the high energy. They have a vegetarian/vegan restaurant (buffet) where the food is delicious and has been prayed over. They give away the food that wasn't sold by the end of the days if you bring your Tupperware/containers. It's amazing how kind and thoughtful everyone is. They have a beautiful store too where you can find objects, clothes, jewelry from India and the quality is great. The only reason why I'm giving them a 4 and not a 5 is that they sell chemical henna/black henna instead of natural, organic fresh made cones that are safe.

Snigdha Srivastava

Delicacies are magical and definitely a must taste!

Rohith Samudrala

Beautiful and peaceful place with delicious vegetarian food

Soleil

Beautiful quaint outdoor courtyard and fresh meal. No meat but that didn’t matter! A long line does form during lunch but that’s the same in any great food place. Worth the visit

Daniel Gilbert

Wonderful experience and incredible vegetarian food. I really learned a lot about this country's food by visiting this exceptional and most unusual place.

Angela InTheWoods

What a wonderful buffet! Some of the best food I have eaten. If you are ever in Dallas you must stop at Kalachandji's in the Hari Krishna Temple. Gauranga Potatoes, Pumpkin Sabzi, Vegetable Pakora, Vanilla Sweet Rice, Halvah, and so many more are my favorites. I came to Dallas to help care for my mom and my sister brought me here. I begged her to take me again I had to eat there one more time before I leave. So we did. I haven't left yet....may have to go one more time! Ohh how I wish there was place like this where I live. I could eat here everyday.

C B

I've always enjoyed my lunch at the historical Kalachandji's Restaurant. I invite people with an open mind to enjoy the food, kind service and pleasant surroundings.

Ryan Keeley

Great vegetarian fare at a good price and nice atmosphere. What else can you ask for? I eat here every time I'm in Dallas. Stay afterwards or come before to check out the temple if that suits you.

Aracely Quiroz

Great food ! Love the place and the rice pudding

Pooja Patel

Truly Dallas's well-kept secrets! Atmosphere is amazing. Food is great. And the dessert menu is truly authentic. Fresh baked cinnamon raisin bread is the best. And lastly it makes me feel like I am back home in India again because of its decor.

E. Stanley Ukeni

They serve only vegetarian foods at this establishment. The food is quite delicious and reasonably priced. The staff is very courteous.

Susan Stageman

Quiet, great vegetarian food, lovely atmosphere. Wonderful outdoor seating.

Pravash K.C.

One of my worst experience. Their products were sold in UTA's store. My first time buying their food and found a bug in their rice.

NSNick

Amazing food amazing people

Anastasia

Great food and friendly service

Nancy E. M

A great place to enjoy vegetarian food in a nice environment!!

Rafaellle Knaggs

The hot table had lasagna (Hindu style vegetarian so there is cheese in some dishes), some Chinese noodles, steamed kale, potato subji, delicious dal and at least 3 rices. Everything was nicely seasoned - loads of spices but very little heat, really. Salad bar was nice, too. Dessert, rice pudding or halava, is served at the table when wait staff clear table and it is delish! And the environment, heavenly. This is a Hare Krishna restaurant, so yes, it is unique but these people take cooking seriously. I wish we lived closer. Haribol!

Fernando de la Fuente

We found this plce while searching for Indian food near us and decided to go because of all the great reviews. We really liked the charm and quaintness of the restaurant, and thought the food had a lot of flavor. Our only complaint is that this restaurant is advertised as Indian food, and really, it's not. It's located inside a Hare Krishna temple and the food has an Indian flare, but the buffet consisted of Lo Mein noodles with Indian spices, boiled broccoli and carrots, rice, salad, and a few other items. The closest thing to indian food was squash in a delicious green curry sauce. Again, the food tastes very good, but I wouldn't call it an Indian restaurant... More like a vegetarian buffet with Indian flare, set in a Hare Krishna temple. Anyone have any suggestions for a good Indian restaurant in Dallas?

Sam Moore

We came here on a lark tonight looking for a vegitarian dinner. This place is a buffet. It is good. All you can eat for about $15 bucks. Even the enchiladas we're good. There is a respectable salad bar. The green curry and paneer were excellent. Dinner comes with dessert as well. The courtyard is an intimate setting and the wait staff is friendly and not burdensome. Excellent Dallas gem.

Phillip Chen

Service and atmosphere amazing.

Rinku Kalita

ISKON temple of Dallas. Situated in a. Old and remote residential locality. Small yet powerful. It has a small shop and restaurant by the same name. The Arti and deiry darshan starts at 4.30 am every morning. The restaurant is very popular amongst vegetarian people of Dallas. More so because it's inside the temple. The Sunday bhog starts at 6pm until 7.30 pm. Parking is ample and a mixed crowd of Indian and American hindus are seen here. The premises are neat and maintained well. The food service is highly organized. Powerful source for praying, unwinding and peace of mind and body.

Savannah S.

Unique vegetarian and vegan dishes. I thinking going in with an open mind is helpful if you are not fully vegetarian or vegan. I am always pleased with their offerings, even the deserts. And the service is fantastic, and kind.

Everyman

Visited this restaurant today with my friend. (We are two older women.) The waiter, who obviously hates his job, was condescending and curt. However, the food was wonderful. But the bad taste left in our mouths due to the young man's attitude stays with us. The lack of respect was surprising.

Tom Hobbs

A top scene for quality vegetarian food. everyone at our table was glad to be there. quick and friendly service. it has an awesome atmosphere.

Maya Little

A fav place for vegetarian food. Good place to catch up with friends. Atmosphere and food reminds me of Virginia Beach.

Vigneshwaran P

Awesome!good place to visit.

Brandon Benitez

Great first time eating here at Kalachandji’s. Small hidden gem in Dallas serving some of the best Indian food. Never was a big fan of Indian but this place made me a believer. It’s buffet style so eat your heart out. Try everything and try more and try more. Their cinnamon bread was sooo good. I don’t know what it was but it look like lasagna and taste like pizza. This place is a must so give it a try. Enjoy my foodie connoisseurs!

Adithi Jagannadhan

I went here on a whim after arriving in Dallas as a tourist. The neighborhood when driving in is quite sketchy but as long as you're driving you should be fine. The food was very authentic vegetarian food. The servers were nice. We also decided to go pray at the hindu temple also there. The temple itself has an interesting story behind it if you take the time to look it up.

Laura Robertson

Ryder Meehan

Incredible buffet in a very unique atmosphere with friendly service. I go every time I’m in town.

Allan Mossbarger

Very good vegetarian buffet, quiet atmosphere to have relaxed conversation, kindly staff. Food is tasty, tending towards a Hindi - Mex fusion, flavourful but not spicy by any means. Reasonably priced.

Ashley Lat-ay

Great vegetarian place, all buffet style. The restaurant area is absolutely stunning. Just keep in mind that the restaurant is next to the temple room where the regular patrons worship, so please be respectful. The staff is super kind and welcoming.

Morgan Vo

We had eaten at KALACHANDJI'S when we lived in Dallas years ago but it had been awhile since we'd visited. The restaurant is run by Krishnas but there is no proselytizing, just great food. (You may go into the temple if you wish.) The restaurant has been in business for over 30 years and for good reason. The food is fabulous. Served buffet style for one price, it is ALL vegetarian and some vegan. Primarily Indian but the menu always includes other international dishes. The night we were there they also served enchiladas and lasagna. The atmosphere is relaxing but casual. Staff are happy to answer questions about the dishes if you want to know ingredients or how something is prepared. Lunch is a couple of dollars less than dinner. Plenty of parking now that they have expanded the site. Can't wait to go again!

Kn Deepa

Loved the peace and dignity at mandir and extremely tasty food

LaRaina Wright

Magnificent thoughtfully and prepared with heart and soul. I love the energy and good vibes of the temple ❤

A vegetarian restaurant which serves a tasty and healthy Indian food. Highly recommend it. #Saathvik

Jared Jaggers

Kalachandji's is a very good vegetarian restaurant in East Dallas, and it's a really fun experience. The atmosphere is beautiful and charming and looking around the Hare Krishna temple is fun. It's buffet service with daily menu posted on the website. I've been multiple times and never disliked the entree. Always stick around for the dessert.

Cori Vandygriff

Fantastic service, even better food.

mandar kulkarni

Beautiful Hindu temple of Lord Krishna. Place has a pure vegetarian unlimited buffet of awesome food.

Tom G

Nice selection and serving choices, some really good flavours. It would be nice if dessert was on the buffet and didn't have to be ordered separate, but that's not a big hassle. Great vibe and really interesting spot to eat.

Krishna Bellamkonda

Avn awesome must visit vegetarian restaurant in DFW(all of DFW). There are a lots of Indian and other vegetarian options all around the metroplex. But this is by far the best... The quality and care put in is obvious. Also try the tamarind cooler. AND it is healthy, wholesome and fresh. Highly recommended!!!

Sierra Weiss

Love this vegetarian yumminess! The environment is even better.

Taylor Zhu

I love this place is kinda hard to find but an experience to eat at.

Samuel Marshall

Love it right in the temple it's delicious.

matt rigney

Delicious food. Great environment and service.

Carlos Vergara

Fresh food tastefully prepared. Vegetarian fare. Reasonably priced. Attentive staff. Plenty of free parking. Safe area. Our only gripe is the intensity of spice is not marked, so you may find yourself shedding a tear or two, and not for joy either.

fake smiles

Great food and service, I have been going my whole life it feels like family.

If you're in the mood for comfort food, check it out!

Wonderful Indian food with very good taste. The staff are super friendly here and are so loving. The food tastes very good and is also very filling. Its more like all you can eat style and have half pricing for kids not sure up to what age though. There is parking as well

Kiran

Peaceful place in a decent neighborhood. This temple architecture represents Lord Krishna’s life and his sayings. The walkway into the temple is glorious with architectures. The prayer hall is very big with a lot of devotees. They serve prasad to the visitors. The temple has a dine-in area and little food stall. It has restrooms and enough facilities for all devotees. Great place for prayers and God blessings.

Dustin Strong

For the peaceful environment and gorgeous outdoor seating alone, this is Dallas must do experience. It's almost as if you are in an entirely different country.

Cyrus Baty

If you’re in the Dallas area and feeling peckish, Kalachandji’s is the place to visit. It is run by the Hare Krishna movement and the food ( all vegetarian) is lip-smackingly good. The restaurant and the Hare Krishna temple are in the same building and a buffet lunch costs 10 Dollars!! Can you believe it? For this amount, you get to eat all the rice and rotisserie you want with a bewildering array of salads . Desserts are extra. We had the Kesari halwa and it was a fitting end to our meal. The restaurant is located in a quiet, leafy residential suburb and the idols in the temple are a feast to the eyes. The ambience inside is wonderful. Overall, a wonderful dining experience.

Saurabh Nagda

Visit Sunday evening for that blissful 6 PM Aarti. Hare Krishna!

Sheryl Baird

This is a special place and a unique experience. The vegetarian buffet is flavorful and fresh; try a little of everything. The whole setting is amazing and spiritually uplifting.

Tried this spot before with a friend and I am obsessed since then. I enjoy the good atmosphere and yummy dishes and beverages. I recommend this place.

Rulli Torres

Amazing place! One of my favorite places in all of Dallas! The food is also superb!

Vanessa Tran

My sister and I visited the temple from Canada. The food is very delicious. We came for dinner one day, lunch for another. The food served for dinner and lunch are similar but we were pretty happy with that. The view in the courtyard is magical! I want tamarind drink and ginger everyday!!!

craig hawkins

Nothing like it. Been coming here for more than 10 years about 4 times a year. Patio is great. I always overeat because I have to try everything. Halva desert always awesome. Interesting place to take vegetarian friends, or people that are into things with a Bohemian flair.

Travis Simmons

Amazing food every time. If you think, “I could never be a vegetarian,” then you have to try this place before you can decide that for sure. Always a good selection of cooked Indian-esque vegetable dishes. A solid salad bar. Delicious desserts. And you have to try the sweetened tamarind iced tea. So good!

Ami Patel

So this is a pure vegetarian restaurant that is sectioned off inside a restaurant. While it may be a restuarant, I would call place cheap fast food. It is buffet style and I tried every single item. Didn't get up once to get seconds. Instead of naan or roti, they have actual sliced bread for your subji. So I stand true when I stated the word "cheap." Not going back for the food.

Chintaginjala Prasad

Awesome place. Religious. Food is very good.

Alok Vijaykar

Very peaceful. Very nice ethos. Difficult to put in words.

David Chialastri

Very high quality food for a great price, and the hearty dishes make you feel right at home. The fresh vegetables and quality meats are a welcome surprise for a buffet. chris spurrier

It's a restaurant.. inside a Hare Krishna temple.. its really neat... take your christian friends there to scare them

Tracy

The food was flavorful, simple and easy on the stomach. Everything was good, the tamarind tea by itself is worth mentioning, Even my 1 year old loved the food, especially the sweet bread.

Anshul Sharma

This is one of the best Indian restaurant in Dallas, may be the best of the US. Food was fresh and cusines were authentic Indian. Warm and Friendly staff, has a Vegan options. I guess we paid about $13 per buffet but it was Totally Worth It!

Lisa Caraway

Shweta Harve

Definitely a class apart in taste, quality, ambiance, and experience. Very healthy yet delicious food. Other traditional Indian restaurants in town can take a lesson or two from this place on how to serve non-greasy, healthy, yet mouth watering food showcasing the best of Indian cuisine. Would eat here at every single opportunity given. Just wish I stayed or worked closer to this restaurant.

Kristin Klein

My favorite place for quality Vegetarian food. I give this place double thumbs up. The service was very kind and attentive. This place has many reviews for a reason.

Allison Smith

The atmosphere here is amazing! The food was pretty good as well. If I lived in the area this would be one of my regular spots

Keshav Neupane

Have been there once. Awesome experience.

Roc R

Always an experience eating here. The food is very fresh and cooked with mild spices. The seating area in the courtyard was an amazing experience, they do have live music every now and then. There is always a line out the door every time I have been there. I also loved the tamarind drink and their salad bar. Both dinner and lunch are buffet style, with a few more dishes and an appetizer for dinner. The down side yo this place is that they do not offer any Indian bread, instead they offer regular American bread which does not go well with Indian entrees. Also, for the dessert, although included in the buffet, you will have to order individually and comes in a small portion and I believe there are no refills. I highly recommend this place If you are a vegan or a vegetarian that loves Indian food.

Kendall Russo

One of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurants in town. Reasonably priced. Delicious dessert!

Robert Wolpa

All the food served there is prepared and cooked every day with the freshest ingredients daily. The menu varies daily and there is a lot of variety as well. This is a self serve cafeteria style arrangement. The servers are extremely attentive if you want additional beverages and or desert. There is an inside and an outdoor patio with lots of tables, heaters above the tables to keep you warm in cooler weather. Great, comfortable and soothing ambience.

swetali mohapatra

Can't come to Dallas and miss this one. The temple is beautiful and the food divine! Absolutely blissful experience!

Chaithu Dikkala

Amazing food, self serve buffet was quite clean

Sarah Miles

Vegetarian food at this location - super tasty. I've had nothing but pleasant experiences here and plan to keep coming back. This place has a cool atmosphere.

dushyant parashar

Krishna Temple Iskon. Dallas

Kelly Williams

Fine scene for delicious vegetarian food. The service here is great. Prices are decent.

MKB

Vegetarian buffet Indian style. Pleasant vibes and good array of food options. Flavor and spice just right. Good price for a full meal with desserts(vegan brownie). Love being on the outside part, the breeze was perfect. The set-up was a little congested but only because it was noon. However, certainly historic.

Andrew Loera

Amazing buffet if vegetarian/vegan and organic is a priority! Very nice outdoor seating as well. Make sure to look ahead of time if you have a party of 5 or more.

Niks

Unbelievably good food, lots of varieties and the taste is not that spicy also.

Dirk Owen

JAY R

If you like the usual Indian food, the restaurant is a big disappointment.

Siva Raja Sekhar

Best vegetarian restaurant in Dallas that serves Sattvic food.

Brandi Richardson

The food is amazingly good tasting given that it is all made without onions or garlic, This was my first time at an Indian vegetarian joint, but this place did not disappoint. It is very peaceful and relaxing. Will highly recommend.

harsh bhatt

As a temple it's a remarkably beautiful. But as a restaurant serving Indian cuisine it has its flaws. Let me honestly say, I've been here three times and of course ambience is really good. Food is more or like Gujarati Food, which is okay but the issue is they don't have any kind of chapati, roti, puri, naan anything, no Indian beads of any sort. Because it's mainly centered around non-indian community. And yes, that's again okay. But a place having no Indian beads of any sort, I wouldn't personally go as a restaurant.

Naren K. Schreiner

Very holy temple serves delicious vegan and vegetarian food that is so authentic and healthy.

delana carter

Great place for vegetarian food. Very serene atmosphere. The restaurant is within a Hari Krishna Temple. Quaint and beautiful outdoor seating area! Food is served buffet style all you can eat. Very reasonable prices.

Jigar Patel

Very relaxing and spiritual feeling. Restaurant has great vegetarian food

Rajasimhan Varadharajan

Decent food options, good taste, nice ambience and inexpensive. If you are looking for a satisfying Vegiterian comfort food from India, this restaurant should be in your list.

Reetu J

Wait time at the lunch buffet line was about 20 minutes around sat 1pm. Very tasty home style Indian dishes Kalachandji's offers the most delicious vegetarian food I have ever encountered. There is something for vegetarian as well vegan. Truly Dallas's well-kept secrets! Atmosphere is amazing. And the dessert menu is truly authentic. And lastly it makes me feel like I am back home in India.

Jessica Smith

Wow loved it, was nice to mix it up with something new

Marco Milan

I was expecting vegetarian indian food and not italian egg plant parmiggiana. The only soups that were actually indian had a pound of salt, inedible. desert was terrible. Tamarind water had more sugar than tamarind.

Joanne Wilkerson

My top spot for delicious Vegetarian food. I can say this place does it for me. The bill was good for what you get.

AphyNGodiva

Best place for Indian/vegetarian food hands down! I'm a hardcore meat eater, love my beef, but I absolutely wouldn't mind never eating a steak again if it meant eating food like what is served here every day! My absolute favorite is their bitter melon, it tastes like roasted pumpkin seeds to me, which are also my absolute favorite! I also really love their cinnamon bread, the subtle sweetness really hits the spot! They offer tamarind tea (dark colored drink) it tastes like lemonade and is super delicious. Also the desserts are to die for, they are also vegetarian/vegan, they offer two or three that are free (rice pudding, halwa, and ginger cookie) and then one or more additional "for sale" options which I actually prefer, they are worth the extra money, especially if you are a chocolate lover! My all time favorite was a vegan chocolate cupcake with a vegan raspberry whipped icing.

Laura Lane

The atrium was a nice change for a place for dinner. Food was good and everyone friendly.

sree vupalanchi

Beautiful setting and it feels like you are connected to nature the tree in the middle of the restaurant is beautiful and the food is amazing.

Sudarshan Majmudar

Simple but really good Indian vegetarian food.I do not feel guilty after eating there and do not feel heavy either. For vegetarians it’s worth checking out.Go for it.

marjorie looney

Always the best!!! Every time we eat here is an amazing experience! Try everything they have on the menu. You will not be disappointed.

doe doe
