This Restaurant is included in the category of Indian restaurant.
Excellent variety of Southern Indian food. Food quality and taste is excellent. Restaurant is clean. Highly recommend.
Awesome place for Indian buffet
Weekdays buffet is Excellent. Worth trying each dish.Food is very fresh.Service is super.
Very tasty South Indian food for reasonable price
Great location for a salon!
Had high expectation which couldn’t be met.
The best south Indian buffet in Houston. Their weekend buffet is awesome. Keep it up.
We went there a few days ago on Sunday for lunch buffet. They have a lot of items but very few that are good to eat. Fir vegetarians the price is high ax they are paying for non veg items as well. Though the restaurant is touted ad authentic Andhra food, the food is very bland and does not represent Andhra taste. Sambar tasted good but thick. Idlis were hard as they were idling for a while but fresh ones werd perfect. If they want to call it Andhra food, they should serve only authentic Andhra food. Spring rolls are not Andhra snacks. Bajjid were harx and tasteless. Red chutney was good but coconut chutney was not good. No pickles, the bane of Andhra menu! Service was non existent. There were couple of workers walking around without a smile! Overall, lunch buffet on Sunday was overpriced for quality of food. They are hyping the restaurant using the name. This restaurant is no better than Udipi, which itself serves bland food! At least, they serve dosa on the table. Message for Andhra people, do not be too excited! Aly carte menu items are too expensive. $6 for a plate of idlis ??!! This is franchise chain. So expect little to no originality.
Good place for south Indian cuisine and unlimited weekend buffet
The food quantity is very generous. The taste of the food is below par when compared to other franchise. I ordered lamb biryani, there wasn't enough salt. Also I have got 4 large bone pieces. Very unusual for a restaurant to serve so many bone pieces in one biryani. What I liked the most is their food portions. They are very huge and very generous
Finally I'm happy by having all varieties of food. Number of options and tasty one
Worst place. Service is pathetic. An amateur Indian cook would cook biryani a million times better than this place. Don’t believe in those 5 stars. I am sure it is their marketing team.
good service and friendly staff
Buffet has a wide variety of food. Some dishes are very good whereas some does not have very authentic taste. Veg options are more than non veg options. If you are big eater then this place is worth the money, otherwise it may be little on the expensive side.
Great food and ambiance. I went on a weekday and they have lot of varieties to chose from the buffet and it is worth the price just 11.99. you got to try the desserts.
So good divine tasty food
My first South Indian experience and I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of food offered on the buffet.
We really love the lunch buffet. The selection is easily at least double that of most other typical Indian restaurant. The best thing about this place is that it taste very authentic and not water down to make it more palatable for the average American.
Buffet can be quite a messy experience.. gets noisy, crowded on weekends and the food taste is not as good as other godavaris..
Quality, quantity and price are reasonable
Good food and service would go back
Lot of food items in the lunch buffet. Good for work outings
Very good place for lunch buffet
Went today for lunch buffet . Good food. The pink lemonade and masala chai was also good.
Outstanding food with the very kind staff!! Said that they have Tx biggest Indian buffet and it was really the biggest buffet in town with very adequate rates!! Would suggest to anybody that try once!!
Consistently awesome food! Authentic, fresh, excellent service, the lunch buffet is worth the price!
With the hyper competition of Indian food in Houston, this was a good find! Service was great, ambiance was nice, the quality of the food was surprisingly very good. I pray you guys can maintain the quality. I came in with a lot of coworkers and everyone enjoyed their food! I will definitely return with more people. The lady at the counter was very kind. It looked like very traditional south Indian food, there were items I have never seen in other Indian joints. Updating Review Went there on a Monday and it was pretty sad. Food felt like they were leftovers from the weekend. There was hardly any waiters. The sweet lady looked like she was handling everything by herself. There were spoons missing in the buffet line. Do NOT go on a Monday, less customers, hence less care. The first time i went was on a Friday and it was fabulous.
Very authentic foods with amazing selections for the buffet! Thursday nights feature endless Idlis specials that are delicious!
Foods were delicious but the number of items were limited.
Wow. I don't even remember when I had such satisfied lunch. Every food item in the buffet are tasty and good. All are served hot. I didn't see a single item to say not good. The chef is really great. Mouth watering chicken soup, tasty tandoori chicken, yummy goat curry and goat Biryani, very tasty strawberry juice. Every thing is perfect. Of course I'm talking about Sunday buffet ;) J. But seriously you can't miss the tastes here. All credits to the wonderful chef.
Amazing food and wonderful service
Hi We went for buffet and food tastes same flavor for all items and we didn't like it. It was untidy. I have been here earlier; I felt so good with warm welcome and we talked with Manger who is down to earth with her pretty smile and unconditional love and she always receives in a humble way . We missed her today and didn’t like being there
Not many items in buffet but price 16$+tax. customer service was good and food is too sweet in taste( not at all spice)......
Been here on Friday night for dinner. My experience with them was awful! Ordered four items and all of them tasted stale. We felt like our dishes were reheated from the refrigerator. We chose two different biryanis, chicken and egg biryani. However, both of them were cooked with the same rice with colored bland rice. Not an ideal place for a la carte!
Nice spread and food was good too. Definitely surprised I have not heard about this restaurant from my friends.
City will never be the airport you should stay off moving music in my computer you don't know how to plug in exit the biosystem take out the cord and shove it up your nose I'm not a Lego capiche Miss Tabitha Perry I spy with my little eyes and Zane on tonight
Lot of food options for vegetarians with great taste and sambar was great... waiting for next visit. The staff was very polite and the village theme is awesome.
This hit the spot. Delicious food and a lot of great options at the buffet.
The hubby and I went on a Saturday and WOW. Authentic Indian dining experience. The food was AMAZING. Try the goat curry and the eggplant dish. So good! I love it They have a buffet on the weekends where the lovely servers .it's more interesting to enjoy the full experience. Am honesty racaman. Thank you. keep it up guys
Awesome tasty food with very good service. Today ordered Raju gari Lodi appetizer and it’s mouth watering, perfect blend of spices and aroma. Thanks Godavari for delivering quality food similar to home.
Good authentic indian food
Best South Indian in town.
Tasty food, clean environment.
Menu was very worst compare to other Godavari’s locations. Most of items were completed when we entered around 1:30pm. They should plan plenty of quantity in weekends. Why you collecting full price from people if most of the items are not available? Godavari has good name in different locations please don’t spoil the name. Service also too bad, they didn’t even provide glasses to drink water until we ask them.
we went with our friends last night, the place has a good ambiance and especially I like the biryani more than anything in the food which we had.. I definitely recommend to go there and have the taste of Hyderabad dum biryani.
Buffet the first time around was okay but later one day me and my friends went pretty late in the evening and quite surprisingly the food was so good. Food is great when dine in and when we specify spice levels. I'm not a big fan of basmati biriyani but I like it here.
This place is amazing. The food is delicious and the workers treat you well. I definitely recommend.
Very good food and I like the place
This our 2nd visit to this restaurant. I'm vegetarian and you will find lots of options to try but taste wise none of them are good except few. Today, I liked wildberry shake, baby corn Manchurian and curd rice.. remaining all are junk... I'm not suggesting to anyone...this is our last visit to this restaurant..
A huge variety of food with delicious taste. One of the best restaurants in Houston
This is a great place to go to for the lunch buffet till 3 every day, but it is a pleasant place to go for dinner as well. My friend and I shared slow cooked special cashew masala chicken with naan bread, samosas, and the biggest potato stuffed dosa either of us had ever seen. The sauces were amazing and fresh. The drink options were limited I would say. Quality of the food was very fresh and it was cooked very quickly! I loved it!
Very good food especially south Indian food. Overcrowded due to the quality. seating facility is limited. We had to stand for sometime to get a table. workers are prompt and courteous. Good parking facility.
Best and True Indian food. Thank you for your contribution to our community. Wish you great success
Tasty food and friendly service Cafe style setting
Good choice of Andhra style spicy food.
Can tell the quality of food being Indian myself. Many Indian restaurants don't have fresh food. It's frozen and reused. Can taste the quality here. Went in afternoon and Ala Carte as well best food I ever had. Service was awesome too. Highly recommended for spice lovers.
One of the best Indian grocery store in houston!
Very Good
This place has improved in last 2 months. Taste is excellent with perfect blend of spices. Spicy or creamy - you'll have your choice of curry. Biryani is best here. Starters and south indian food is nice. Buffest has plenty of variety based on your taste. Food is fresh. One problem is - ala-carte PRICE is higher for almost everything compare to other Indian restaurants.
Awesome food for affordable price. They always go an extra mile to add authenticity to their buffet items.
I found a long hair strand in one of the curries. Could not eat the rest and drank tea for the buffet price. Very disgusting. Will not go back there.
Worst nightmare ever !!! We were visiting Houston for with my parents and wanted try some good Indian restaurant. We decided to go to this place based on google search. It was monday afternoon, and we reached the place at 1 PM, and we were surprised to see that it was just only us in the entire restaurant. We started serving ourselves from the buffet, and we noticed the food (almost everything except the sides) by appearance was not looking fresh. They tasted some what between terrible and almost spoiled. It was very evident from the appearance and taste that, they were leftovers from the previous day (weekend buffet). We had kids along with us who also could not eat. We left the place eventually after trying few dishes which all tasted the same. We did confront the cashier with our feedback, but she simply replied she would pass the feedback to the kitchen. I would never go to this 'Godavari Restaurant' here or at any other location again !!!
Ambience was great, especially Bajaj Chetak Food was good Need bit improvement/expertise with hospitality
One of my favourite places . I love the got curry, the appetisers are also very nice. Britain is one of the best , authentic good luck guys.
Had a good experience at Godavari, all the veg items were brought to table promptly, the non veg items took a bit of time to table. Taste wise, it was good and nearing the South Indian cuisine, on the spice level it was from mild to medium. The host and hostess were good on professional level. 3 star rating, because felt that the Spice level would be hot, but felt that the medium level was actually mild.
Excellent lunch buffet!!
Good location & ambience. Food needs to hold 'authenticity' if from any other than South Indian
Godavari is a chain restaurant as I thought. But the taste changes with every location. I liked the ones in Chicago and Boston. But the one in Houston is a bit below par compared to the rest. I expected more. But for a buffet, it's ok for 16$. Less varieties and food feels so filling after couple of bites.
Has a lot of veg and non-veg options, but preferably veg varieties are not that good in taste. Most of the rice varieties are not hot enough. Very less dessert options. The buffet is not worth its price.
Excellent food. Los of vegetarian and non veg options. little extra spicy but delicious. Coffee mouse was to super yummy.
Food was awesome and service was excellent. Shout out to @abhishek. He recieved us really well and stayed late after the close. Great food.
One of the expansive Indian buffets with a lot of options for both vegetarian & bon-vegetarian. One or two sides might put you off for being bland, but the rest will make it all the more worth it. On weekends they add a few specials as well which is awesome! A milkshake, a cold drink & hot tea are always part of the buffet. Indian desserts might never disappoint you & I rarely had chance to give them a real go since tummy gets full.
Looks like this place can't decide what they want to be. Right from their choice of menu for the buffet all the way to their choice of dolls in the wall alcoves. The name Godavari makes you think they are either Maharastian or Andhra fare but food is North Indian, South Indian and everything in between. (They had, biryani, naaan and the usual suspects- chicken, lamb curries, paneer curries and idiappam, idli, veg cutlet, mango lassi, rasam, sambhar etc...). Nothing stands out may be they are trying hard to be everything for everyone and making everything taste very ordinary in the process . The table layout is a bit crowded. They had one tv showing cartoons and another blaring Indian Bollywood songs. Yes, the music was a little loud for comfort. Their choice of desserts was payasam.Period. Interestingly they had small notes showing how frequently they refill each item at the buffet bar.
Placed an order over the phone 20 minutes beforehand but still had to wait for 10 min more to get my food..I was waiting by the counter and nobody came to ask if I needed something instead when other customers came in the guy with the blue shirt came in to see them but looked at me and just left..I was literally trying to tell them that I was getting late..after waiting for that long I expected my food to be good but again it was too salty.. Disappointed
Nice place for families to spent time, and service is good.Food quality superb.A great place to eat. Their lose prawns and chicken are really yummy. You have wait for your seats as there are many people. But the wait is worth.
Great food and nice service. Lunch buffet was good. But dinner was not so good.
Good and descent varieties of south Indian food. Really loved their innovative interiors. Definitely worth every buck...!
Good veg and non-veg buffet. Just lacking some good desserts...
Great quality food, authentic and delicious with the accommodation to make each dish less spicy. Very family friendly, we appreciated having a kids menu and felt very welcome. Great experience, amazing food.
I rarely give low reviews, but honestly the food was not all that! It was soooo spicy
The best Indian food I ever ate in houston..
Visited one time but was not impressed as per the great reviews I had heard. Food was still very spicy although we specially requested mild food. Good thing about them was that they acknowledged their mistake and hope to make improvements next time. Update: Visited once again, this time for weekend lunch buffet. The buffet was really good. Would definitely recommend going for lunch buffet.
We went in a gang here , ordered 7 plate of mutton briyani. Only 3 people can be able to eat the full plate, The quantity and taste is awesome , look for genuine outlet. One of the best I've tasted.
Very very good food. And very reasonable prices. That Buffet has meat or vegetarian options to and some of it is nice and spicy.
Desserts and welcome drinks are worse. Wish they offer tasty food rather than number of items. Refilling is not done as well.
Excellent South Indian food . Reminds us of home
Hospitality is very nice. Front receptionist is very caring. She took care of every problem we had. Food is not good.
I can give no ratings for this restaurant, we went with our family yesterday, atleast no single item is eatable. Guys, don’t ever think to go. It’s waste of your time and money. I really don’t know why people are so crazy to go here. I never recommend this restaurant to anyone. BETTER TO AVOID!!!
First off when you enter the restaurant, you can see the excellent ambience of the place. They made it very Indian with a scooter at the front and some hay grass on the roof, which is very nice. The food here is also very good. We went here during buffet time, and most of the items were to expectation. The only complain is that the chicken kebab was undercooked, but we reported that and I hope they can fix it soon.
great place to meet and catch up with friends. the staff was friendly and sociable. prices are fair i would say. if it was closer to my home i would be here often.
Spicy and delicious.. Biriyani was yummy.
Good taste
We went to this place to celebrate two of our family birthdays. Had hoped to do the buffet but unfortunately they only do that at lunch. However each one of us chose a meal and there was plenty of each portion so that we could share it with one another. We had a good time there and the people that waited on us we're really helpful and made it a great event.
Good food, nice ambiance
The food there is excellent. I have ordered a few different types of Biryanis a few times for takeout and they have always been awesome. The appetizers like Idli, dosa are also really good.
Wow, one of the best restaurant in Houston. Customer service was excellent and food was really tasty and definitely will recommend to others...
Amazing food and great customer service!!!!!
Tasty Telugu Style Food. Delight for Non-Vegetarians. Plenty of dishes for Vegetarians too ...
Great tasting food. Good buffet options. Vada was super oily.
Went here for lunch. They had a buffet and while it was good I wouldn't go back for it. $14 for all you can eat isnt bad and I really liked the super thin bread they'd bring out fresh for you.
5 star for veg items and -1 star for nonveg items. Avg 2 starts.
Been there for a party. Food quality was great.
Great food and place
Great selection of North Indian as well as south Indian food. They also offer free complimentary dosa besides the buffet.
Great location for Team parties and amazing food!
I have been here in Houston more than 8 years. Almost tried all the Indian restaurants throughout the Houston. I felt this is the best lunch buffet menu which I have ever seen in other part of Houston. Both Veg and Non-veg menus are really good. Very good ambience and spacious. Party halls are available. Worth to try and don't miss the Saturday and Sunday varieties...
The food was yummy but the service was poor
One of the best Indian overseas restaurant with authentic spices and delicious dishes. Their weekend grand buffet is fabulous.
Personally i feel the buffet of Godavari is overrated. Very limited options plus the food was “just warm” and not hot. Talking about typical south indian food like sambhar and coconut chutney they both tasted pathetic. In terms of hygiene I did not like it. Even there was no one to pick the finished plates from table, we had to pile them up and then look for the staff to clear them off. Compare to the price the food quality wasn’t worth it.
Not bad, not great. Would probably eat there again if it was offered as another lunch outing. My rating isn't really be about the quality of the food as it relates to typical south Indian food, because this is maybe my 5th time eating any Indian food. I'm rating it just on the basis of being a white dude who likes to eat anything.
FANTASTIC!!! GODAVARI HOUSTON IS A MUST VISIT RESTAURANT!!!! From the time you enter where you are greeted by the very friendly staff and get seated your experience continues to get even better! The buffet is a plethora of unique freshly prepared southern Indian dishes . Every bite of each dish is an experience of deliciousness. The fresh breads were brought to our table and were nothing short of gourmet. For about $14 a person you cannot go wrong. Abby and the staff treat you as if you are the only customer...total VIP. Thanks Godavari"s!! What a tremendously enjoyable experience!!!
Won’t coming back to this place. Ordered chicken biriyani. It was like meat over rice. No flavor at all. Highly disappointed.
Very nice food. Good spread of buffet.
Good one but not better than the dallas branch
Today we had buffet which was not good at all as compared to the other Godavari Buffets....I would say except Moong dal payasam nothing was good today
Edited: The food itself is great and they have reasonable prices.
Tasty south Indian food.
I love samosas and paneer makhni. Amazing food
Food was really good...
Place is good with nice ambience. But felt staff is very arrogant and declined to accept take away order with reason they are busy, there were no customers at all and still didn’t accept order. May be will stop visiting this place.
Great buffet at a very nominal price. Taste is truly original and sumptuous. Wide choices for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian patrons. Excellent choices of deserts as well. Spice levels are most appropriate for all ages. Overall an excellent dining experience. No complaints whatsoever, at all.
Buffet had a lot of variety. Nonveg was on one side with veg on the other. Crab and goat curry was good. The fish and chicken were a little bland. The chai was good. The number of dishes caused the quality to fall for a few. Service was good. Nice place to come for a casual lunch, but quality of buffet was only average
Tried out the buffet. Great ambiance!! Liked the customer service and quick clean up of used plates by the staffs. Foods were all fresh and was able to try most of them. The food was fresh and tasted good. Didnt experienced the wait or customer service issue as some others mentioned. Maybe the management is noticing the reviews and making necessary improvements.
This review is for the weekend buffet. Went there because of the authentic "South Indian" claim. Nothing noteworthy. Just a big spread of food with similar flavors. Disappointed. Will not return for the buffet. May try ordering from the menu.
Authentic andhra food, must visit this place which is on Westheimer road
Nothing tasted fresh or crisp. Can appreciate the variety but not the quality
It's Okay. Blandish spices and a bit expensive for the worth.
I am not sure of the non vegetarian options but the veg food was horrendous and my worst experience in houston If you are a vegetarian will not recommend it too expensive for the tastes food Everything was cold and tasteless Godavari spoiled my weekend
Good Indian food with nice service. They have Indian village theme which is very appealing and different from other Indian restaurants in Houston. I recommend their special chicken biryani and I am definitely coming back:)
Wonderful service and a great South Indian buffet! They have vegan, vegetarian and meat options, all of which are very well prepared. The customer service is beautiful, so friendly and our server brought us 2 special bread varieties to our table, including a vegan potato filled giant dosa!! The best dosa we've tried!!
Excellent buffet! The array of dishes is superb. Each dish has a distinct taste and is delicious
Worst standard off maintaining food quality waste off money ... they charge 15$ for buffet dnt go and waste ur money
Buffet is really good
Buffet on weekend is huge. Lots of choice. Food is good.
Recently been there for a weekend buffet. The ambience and Service is good. But the taste of was not that great. Instead of focusing on number of items they should focus on less items with good taste and quality. This will bring people back for a visit.
Authentic south Indian flavors. Tried both buffet and menu items. The Quality and Quantity is great and service is also very good.
"Loved this place". I waited for 45 minutes to enter, however the wait was worth it. Loved every single thing I tried, way too many options in both veg and non veg. I would be coming again. Only thing which disappointed was price, 15 for Indian buffet in this area is little overprices and thus 4 star. good luck.
twice on this trip. both times very satisfied both a la carte and buffet
Wow! You guys made Mother's day more special with lot of authentic food. The way you organised the things is simply superb. The food was very tasty. I am giving you 4 star because of the wait time.
Best Indian Restaurant in Houston! Ambience is incredible and the staff is very courteous. We really enjoyed with huge selection of items and right spice of level. Well executed Indian village concept.
Nice ambience. Good food
Awful place with awful food. The service was below acceptable. The wait times are really long. Quality of food is really bad and the management is trying to save some money st the expense of customer and food quality. I suffered a lot after eating the food there and its expensive than the competition. Not worth the money. Better to go for other places like biryani pot or Hyderabad house as they offer better food and service at a cheaper price. Really dissatisfied with what I experienced today.
They provide buffet for lunch with quite a few option for both vegetarian and non vegetarians. Food is mostly oriented towards south indian cuisine andhra style.
High quality service
The food was good, properly prepared and a great value for the price. We highly recommend it. The lunch buffet on Wednesday was equally as good
We went for the buffet. Food was decent but not hot. The ambiance and selection were good. Nothing makes we wanna go back and eat there really. But will go if someone else wants to grab a Indian buffet. Also the lady in the front was a little confused as the restaurant was free but wasn’t sure if could give us a booth or not. The place was pretty empty. We were the 2nd customer that day. Her customer skills need a little improvement
Awesome buffet and great place for your parties.. banquet is very well laid out and with great capabilities... food is just too good....
Great location, good service and the food definitely hit the spot
I’ve passed by this place a million times and now I’m kicking myself for not trying it sooner. Seriously SO good and the staff is super friendly! Definitely recommend.
Nice ambience and flavors
The food here had an extensive selection, lots of dishes with incredible taste and spices! I'm used to eating North Indian, so this was a different and still very delectable treat. Lots of dishes were spicy, but it is truly authentic. I loved that any time I had a question, patrons and employees alike were extremely helpful!! I can't wait to go back and try most stuff! I got full so quickly... Next time I'll take my time. Check it out, you won't regret it!
Whoa !! It deteriorated so fast .. we had food last Friday and were very happy about the quality and taste. The same place has been so bad today that we were contemplating on refusing to pay the bill. Most of the food was tasteless and possibly stale . management seriously need to step up ..
This is the most amazing buffet in Houston - especially for those of us who love the South Indian spice...Godavari has a huge selection - leaving plenty of choices for the both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. Best time to visit is for a Sunday- lunch buffet when they have that something special - hence gets a bit crowded. Just one suggestion that I have- instead of having different jellies or milkshakes - it would be great to have Ice Cream or Kulfi at the end of the buffet, Keep it up!
Posted previously but not sure why my review went away. First time there was a huge line extending out into the parking lot. We went elsewhere. Second time, the food was ok. They weren't refilling fast enough even though there was around an hour to go before close of buffet. From then on, every visit had been good. Prompt refills in the buffet and good quality food. Last time we were there, someone's new Mercedes was broken into. And it was right in front of the restaurant. Don't leave valuables in the car.
Attended a function at the banquet hall and the food was tasty and spicy (as expected). Did not get a chance to order from the menu or sit on the restaurant side but it seems promising from what they did at the banquet. It will be good if they can add a projector/screen and speaker/mic system for functions like this so the guest don't need to worry about bringing them in.
Excellent food and great service. I always have a great experience
Delicious food. The lunch buffet is about $15.
Lunch buffet is good. Though weekdays has limited menu, I love the option of fresh and hot dosa included in buffet. Weekends offer additional menu items but it's shame dosa is not included in buffet. I would love to visit more on weekends if dosa is included but everyone has own preferences
