A hidden little gem on the riverwalk. We just stumbled across it as we were looking for something good to eat. A villa type atmosphere with an outstanding menu. I should have taken a picture of the food but I can promise you it was the best we had in San Antonio by far. The free range chicken was amazing and the scallops were incredible! Then to finish off the meal we had a baked Alaska. That is a rare occurrence all by itself! Almost impossible to find anywhere. Highly recommended and we will be back when we visit San Antonio again.

I will not be returning! Pay attention to the posts about the mean old lady. She can ruin an evening and clearly has not learned from the negative feedback she has received. Our delightful evening ended with her telling us that we had to leave because she needed our table. I took a quick scan of the restaurant and there were at least 4 empty tables in the outdoor seating area. I was speechless that any business owner would ever consider treating a customer this way. Long story short, we were in the process of paying our bill, so her blunt and rude confrontation could have easily been avoided. I am certain her reply will attempt to blame our waiter. Our waiter was delightful and it’s unfortunate that he has to work for someone with a total lack of consideration for appropriate customer service.

It was the little things here that made a huge difference. From the salmon tapas at the beginning of the meal to the Chicago truffles they gave us to celebrate our anniversary at the end. I also must comment on the food presentation. It …

Fig Tree earned a 5 star rating for their friendly service and excellent food. I went to dinner on a Saturday night with my daughter. We were underdressed. Many diners were dressed for a special occasion; many wore suits and nice dresses. Because of this we chose to sit outside. The diners outside were much more casual and we didn’t feel uncomfortable. The hostess was lovely and sweet. She managed the phones and multiple people coming into the restaurant with ease. She is French and has a tiny bit of a French accent. Our waiter was Craig and he was friendly and attentive. The outside area has multiple levels overlooking the river walk. VERY PRETTY. it was quiet.

Michelle Lin

Good food, nice staff, I am glad to pick here for our dinner!

Kate Tansley

Amazing food and service! A big thank you to Chef Daniel for making our experience special!

We tried Fig Tree after loving the neighboring restaurant, Little Rhein a couple weeks ago. For steak, go to Little Rhein, for something different, Fig Tree is the place to go. The building itself is very picturesque sitting right on the river. Great place for a date (although pretty expensive) SUCH GOOD QUALITY FOOD. Would love to see a couple more options for wine by the glass, but I'm not complaining. The beet salad was delicious.

John Harper

good place to catch up with friends. the staff was sociable and attentive. this place has a cool design. feeling here is like a restaurant in fort worth i liked.

Casey Wright

My mom and I came here last month for her birthday and had an excellent meal!

Angelique Snyder

We loved the food and the view

Eric Robert Morse

This is a charming little restaurant with delicious gourmet food and a lovely layered patio overlooking the Riverwalk. The French owners prioritize quality over quantity, and it shows. The steak is always cooked to perfection, and we love the creative appetizer and side dishes. It's a great option to show off the best of San Antonio.

Jeffrey McCandless

The food was excellent, the service was great.i really liked the restaurant. I ate inside and the setting was great.

Deb Rankin

My husband and I recently ate here for our first anniversary. He took me here because I have always admired their lovely terrace, and as it turns out, the service and food were as good as the lovely view. The lobster bisque was creamy and delicious, the deconstructed beef Wellington SAS tender and full of flavor. The staff were friendly, as were many of the other guests, two of whom offered to take our picture when they saw us attempting an awkward selfie to commemorate the occasion. It was a lovely experience.

Jared Knight

Great food. Awful, awful service. Sat down at 6:00 and told our waiter we had to be somewhat quick to make an 8pm play. At 7:45, we had to demand our check and rush out. We also had to ask for menus, knives, and we ordered drinks that showed up 30 minutes after ordering them. Skip the lobster bisque. No lobster chunks.

Fernanda Nunes Ramalho

Delicious food, attentive and friendly service, beautiful setting! I'd definitely recommend!

Dr. Art Epstein

Truly exceptional food and service. Definitely worth a visit.

NICOLE BASTRESS

This place was nice, great location on the river walk. Our server was a little awkward. Food was good not exciting. Decor was very outdated.

Daniel Wood

Great food, service, and ambiance. A win-win. Reasonable prices. The brisket was so tender I used my fork. Amazing place.

Captain America

Excellent service. Excellent food. We were restaurant hopping along the River Walk getting the best appetizer at a few restaurants when we happened to come across this little gem. My wife saw the cute lights of each table twinkling at her from across the river and said “that’s our next stop, we have to find out what’s there!” And so our trek ended here at the Fig Tree. It is upscale dining so expect to spend a pretty penny. Definitely a place to celebrate an intimate dinner with a loved one. Not really outfitted to take large parties though that I could tell. Most of the seating is outside on individual tables all along the hill side over looking the river but they have limited seating inside as well. We chose to sit inside as it was about 95deg outside. We managed to slip in without a reservation but I would suggest calling ahead. Now about the food. We had the roasted beet salad, artichokes, crab cake, and ended with the Baked Alaska dessert which was a bottom layer of moist yellow cake layered with pistachio and chocolate ice cream completely encased with a toasted meringue shell. It was like eating a toasted marshmallow ice cream cake nothing like it I’ve encountered. All the dishes were amazing, beautifully presented and pure satisfaction indeed. It is definitely a place worth trying once in your lifetime.

Stephanie Moore

Food was delicious. A group of of 7 of us had dinner and dessert and only one person had a problem with the salmon because they like it well done. My redfish was delicious.

Daryl Ann Shirey

Food was excellent. Went there for a dinner party.

Frank the Tank

The food is out of this world amazing, especially the crab cakes and the Baked Alaska, but the service leaves something left to be desired. The staff was very friendly, but not very attentive to the needs of our table or the other tables around us.

John Lorimer

Service terrific, food excellent, wine list outstanding, baked Alaska dessert out of this world. We had a new 2 week server, first serving job that executed a very good wine service. Outstanding.

David S Morgan

Fine dining with exceptional cuisine and a quaint atmosphere that looks out over the Riverwalk. Very popular and therefore very busy. You will need to make a reservation at least a couple of days or more in advance.

Stacie Therson

This is the best restaurant in San Antonio. The restaurant is in a charming villa with wonderful river views. The food was great, from appetizers to dessert. Wine Spectator was right, to give The Fig Tree accolates for the wine selection. I would come back to San Antonio for this restaurant alone.

Mary Carrillo

I recommend sitting outside, where you will enjoy a beautiful view, not to mention the excellent service.

Alexandra Cortez

If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. My husband and I received a $100 gift card to this establishment, and decided to go last Saturday to celebrate our one year anniversary. I had made a reservation at least a month prior, and upon arrival, the hostess tried to give us a crummy table. Strike one, but they gave us a nicer table and I let it go. When the bill arrives, we give the waitress our gift card and they come back to tell us there is $0.00 on the card. Long story short, they treated us awfully, like we were trying to pull one over on them, and did not accept it. We had to pay for the full meal! It completely RUINED OUR ANNIVERSARY. Fast forward to today, my husband gets a call from the restaurant saying the card did in fact have $100 on it. So they ruined our first year wedding anniversary for nothing. Please, please, don't purchase gift cards from this restaurant, they will try to swindle you!

Michael Bixby

The food was amazing! We ate on the outside patio next to the riverwalk.

Samuel Webb

It was so fresh. The bill was decent for the quality. Menu is like a place in San Francisco I loved.

Bob Sutton

We went on Sunday and were immediately seated out on the patio with a great view of the River walk. Our waiter Craig was awesome and suggested a great bottle of wine. We started with Lobster Bisque soup which is our favorite and this was one of the best bowls of soup I've ever had. My wife had the Sea Bass and I had the Short Ribs. We shared and they were both awesome. Couldn't have asked for a better evening. Thank you

Liz Davis

I ordered redfish, with an avocado sauce, and couscous, and it was expertly prepared. The olive bread was out of this world. My table, perched high atop tje patio, offered a delightful view of the spectacle unfolding below, along the Riverwalk.

Stephanie Johnson

We enjoyed the Lobster Bisque, the duck special of the night ,and the Chocolate Bombe dessert. Service was perfect and not pushy.

Richard Hill

Great service - helpful & friendly but also knowledgeable. Beautiful grilled artichokes with a goat's cheese with a gremolata roll. Good Caesar salad. Excellent gulf shrimps with tagliatelle. OK baked Alaska and good panna cotta. Nice Becker Viognier from Texas. $118 plus tip.

Maria Morrell

Perfect 10 year Anniversary Dinner! Sierra/Cienna (I may have missed her name completely) was a fantastic server. We had a wonderful table near the window with a view of the Riverwalk. The appetizer of goat cheese with olives, tomatoes, and seasonings was very flavorful and rich. We had the Blackened Red Snapper and Free Range Chicken Breast, both were a wonderful combination of flavors and textures. We also had a side of asparagus in bernaise sauce. My husband cleared his plate and I still had a bit of food left. All the portions were perfect size. We both had frothy cappuccinos with the Lavender Creme Brulee for dessert. The staff wrote Happy Anniversary on the dessert and didn't charge us for the Brulee. The ambiance is very intimate and they have wonderful seating outside as well. A private room upstairs for larger parties is available. Reservations appears the best way to go but there seemed to be tables available during the week. The only down side I had were that the chairs were a little stiff and uncomfortable. Otherwise a must visit on the Riverwalk.

alex choi

Great service and great tasting food

Oscar Castillo

Excellent fine food...lovely inside and out. On part of Riverwalk. Courteous staff

Brandon Moore

Visited Fri evening I think. Definitely worth a return visit. The place has a great atmosphere. Feels similar to a cafe in Chicago I loved.

Justin Morrell

Great food, service, and location. My wife and I had dinner here on our 10th anniversary, and it was perfect! They even gave us a beautiful and delicious dessert as an anniversary gift.

Sam Muszynski

First, the lack of a proper wine glass was an omen and not a good one. This is not a wedding hall. Service was okay but not up to the prices. The food was variable . I will give the chef credit for coming out to talk. Try Supper at Hotel Emma instead. It is worth the short ride and an equal setting.

Bryan Nguyen

The restaurant is quaint and looks nice and is just off the Riverwalk. The food has good presentation, but overall wasn't very good in my opinion. We had a large party and a majority of the dishes were too salty and just didn't taste amazing in general, especially considering the price of the meal. Our server was also curt, not very friendly, and forgetful, perhaps because we were seated upstairs, but either way I was unimpressed. I probably won't come back.

Tim McGuire

We ate here for the first time the other day and were really satisfied with our choice to do so. The food was excellent. My wife had the Braised Short Rib Bourguignon, and I had the Scottish Salmon. We also enjoyed the baked goat cheese appetizer. All were well prepared and presented. The wait staff was excellent. The place has a good view of the Riverwalk. We ate indoors due to windy conditions, so the view was a little constricted. The restaurant is in an old, remodeled residence, and is quite intimate. Outside seating is on a couple of levels. This is a definite repeat.

Raj Varma

Transformation from the Riverwalk to South of France! The ambiance is spectacular. The food was good, drinks awesome. Service par excellent

Brent Mccormick

Dropped in on Tues.

Michael Trinidad

Be prepared for a tasting experience. The chef should come out and take a bow. Service from Julio was fantastic. Great romantic spot for outdoor dining.

Laura Deppert

We just had the most amazing dinner at the Fig Tree Restaurant. Our server Eric was fantastic. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and the service and food was impecable. We enjoyed a beautiful view of the River while eating our delicious meal. Elfride Mallaise was extremely helpful with setting up our reservations. She gave us the best Riverwalk table. Thanks everyone for making our evening so special.

Kate Haugen

Jeremy Deis

One of the best restaurants I've been too. Service was excellent and the salmon was fantastic.

Audrey Mitchell

Glorious food, fantastic waitstaff, top shelf bartender.

PERFECT DATE !!!! the food (and service from Craig) was OUTSTANDING. The outside dining area is so romantic with views of the river walk surrounded by greenery . We LOVED the (deconstructed ) beet salad and the salmon as a main . Their Beef Wellington is an unconventional take on the British classic, as it's served primarily as filet mignon with a pastry on top- but it was incredible. Highly recommend this place and we will return !

Celso Delgado

Excellent

My husband and I came here for my birthday and everything was wonderful!! They were very friendly and sweet. I would definitely recommend this place!!

My wife and I celebrate Valentine's Day every year at Fig Tree. It's always a special treat. Beautiful location, great service, and our meals have always been outstanding.

M Prindle

Wonderful place to eat on the Riverwalk, the outside seating is great. Wonderful service and even better food.

Jeff Vinson

Fig Tree did the reception dinner for our son's wedding. We had our own private room upstairs and it was wonderful. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Everyone went out of they way to make it a special event that we all will remember.

Julie Hampton

I will be back with my coworkers. Prices were appropriate.

Vicki Doyen

Friendly and personable staff. Excellent food with great ambience.

Samuel Watson

Great service with a smile. Waiter was very helpful . Made a great recommendation with the 3 course and drink selection. I definitely will be coming back for another night out. I recommend making dinner reservations for a table to avoid a wait when you arrive. Quality service often times draws a crowd. Come with a reservation and enjoy the...

Nice place, old traditional atmosphere, small but interesting menu, not fast food so expect to take your time. Had the stuffed chicken and salmon with crab and capers and they both were great, service was good too. It is on the riverwalk but up the hill next to a steak place and the amphitheater.

David Salinas

As we walk in the hostess was very nice to us and sat us down. Now the older lady witch appeared to be the manager walk out from kitchen I say hi first she looks at the and with a disgusted face and turns. We wait for 15 minutes and nobody attends us. But in walks 3 white costumers and the same older lady quickly attends them and goes to kitchen gets waiter which starts to get order. I look at her in disbelief and she looks at me with a half frown and wrinkled nose and turns away. At this point I tell my wife to get up we are leaving. I kindly let the hostess we are leaving. Both my wife and I are hispanic. We were dressed appropriately for the night and occasion if that matters

We ate at Fig Tree tonight (12/28/17)and it was great! Our waitress (young girl with dark brown/black hair sorry I am terrible at remembering names!) was very sweet and helpful. We had a great table right in front of the window with a …

Wonderful food. Wonderful atmosphere. Wonderful service.

Amazing place. Very chick and quiet. Food was exceptional. We have tried Scallop dish and chicken breast with mushrooms. Both delicious. Drinks and cocktails were amazing as well. Our server was very helpful. She answer all the questions and offer her opinion on dishes. Beautiful views on Riverwalk.

The indoor dining room only has about 10 tables. You hear everybody else’s business. I know that the table behind us were locals, the group next to us was here for a convention and celebrating a birthday, then the couple behind my husband was celebrating their anniversary. I know all of this because their waiters were very engaging. We got the one waiter who wasn’t engaging at all and we were there for our 20th wedding anniversary. It’s a big deal to us. We were in San Antonio three nights(250miles from home) for our anniversary weekend, and this was the final night and this was our really expensive, fancy dinner. The food was absolutely delicious. The ambience is very intimate and it’s like you’re in somebody’s living room. Our waiter didn’t even know it was our anniversary until he asked if we would be having dessert. The first night we were in town we ate at the Sister restaurant next-door and our experience with the wait staff was outstanding. That made this evening an even bigger letdown. This is the third time we’ve been to this restaurant in 20 years, and I don’t see us coming back. The quality of the food does not make up for a lack in overall service.

Mai Vaz

Great service, awesome food and even better wine list. We had the shrimp and the Wellington as main courses and they were both great. The Caesar salad and the tomato and mozzarella was really good too, specially with that balsamic …

Duck confit was barely ok. Seasonings seemed subpar, and overall not very flavorful. Subpar service. Waitress did not know what cognac is, had little familiarity with the wine list, and little familiarity with the dinner menu beyond dish names, reaching in front to serv dishes, and loud waiters yelling "Hey Y'all!"... although low quality wait service seems to be par for the course in San Antonio as far as I can tell. Paris or NYC it is not. Anyway, when I received a rather stingy pour of Courvoisier VSOP and inquired why, I knew I'd had enough. Maybe for San Antonio this is high class dining, but for seasoned fine diners, don't get your hopes up. Seems like a bit of a tourist trap. They did have a fairly nice wine list, though.

Allison Chinnery

Delicious meal, courteous staff, birthday dessert was on the house and was fantastic

George Petrov

The best food I have ever eaten in my life without a doubt! Everyone must go there once in their lifetime. It was simply outstanding. As I told them before leaving last night, if they decide to adopt, I will be the first to sign up. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You made our anniversary simply great

sam rodriguez

One of the best places to eat I loved the French cheesecake

subramani ravikrishna

Patios were not so neat. Its a lovely romatic place for dates. Make sure to you choose the table closest to the river walk. The desserts were great.

Marisol Sanchez

What a fun night. The food and staff was excellent.

Peter Smith

Wonderful ambience, and attentive service that doesn't rush you. I had the blackened redfish, which was divine.

Jody Logan

Great place to chill, get away, eat some good food. I look forward to going back again. Bring your appetite because portions are generous.

Teodoro Cardona

Visited this place to celebrate my wife's birthday over the weekend. We had a steak each, we didn't really enjoy it because there were some parts of it that were too hard. The seating outside in the back facing the Riverwalk is too close together and makes for uncomfortable seating. The service was great, and getting a table was not difficult via open table.

Megan Knapp

Dropped in on Tues. I'll return friends next time.

Andrew Herrington

We visited the Fig Tree for our first anniversary dinner. While neither of us were completely blown away by our food, the service was impeccable and our drinks were delicious. The view of the River from outside was very pretty. If you have a special occasion, The Fig Tree is a great place for it.

Citlallin Rocha-Gonzalez

Very romantic and beautiful spot.

John Ghazzagh

This is truly a 5 star dining experience.

Heather Von Allmen

Went for dinner. We had the filet with bearnaise and the short ribs. Both very good. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Dinner was served with olive bread, which was fresh. Definitely recommend.

Melissa Anderson

Absolutely beautiful restaurant!! And the steak is incredible. Cooked to perfection. Seasoned well. Excellent service. Worth the money and then some...

Michael Chruszczak

Excellent restaurant! Best escargot and crab cake appetizer we have had. The Beef Wellington was open face and delicious. Banana Fosters topped off the meal. Service was excellent. Highly recommend.

Alexandra M

Very good food and nice garden in the back.

Cliff Denney

Excellent food and service. The wine was superb. We ate inside because it was a little chilly but we still had an excellent view of the river. Our server was Sierra and she did a wonderful job.

Jose Font

Had an amazing anniversary dinner. We chose to sit outside on the patio with a view of the river. The service was exemplary as was the food. The lobster bisque was awesome. We will be back!

Clara Walters

I was so stuffed. The service was very helpful and welcoming. Bring your appetite because portions are filling.

Matthew Johnston

Great! Reccomend the beef wellington if it is available.

Cesar Cervantes

Great food and great drinks! Service a bit on the slower and inattentive on our past visits. Absolutely wonder patio! Very romantic.
