REVIEWS OF epicerie IN Texas

Christopher Grozdon

This place was somewhat pretentious with mediocre food. One of those places where you go once to check it out then never go again. It has a lot of potential to be great.

Karen Dante

We love it here. Food is phenomenal. Austin casual. A bit noisy No wine glasses. Who cares when the food is this good?

René Moulinié

Always great.

Berenice Santanna

Elegant place with efficient service, a menu that is refined and with delicious options. Wonderful hours guarantee for a special evening.

Patrick Billings

Outstanding flavors for the dishes we had. Great beignets.

Ben Mineo

I've eaten here 6 or 7 times and never once been disappointed. Lunch, Dinner, or Brunch, they always come through with great stuff. New Orleans / French inspired food in a casual cafe setting. Sandwiches are great, the larger plates are even better. If you have room left, the fresh beignets are as good as you can get in New Orleans.

Wendy Gordon

Pleasant setting where you can enjoy an unhurried conversation. Lengthy selection of beers and wine. I've been here for beignets and meals at various times of day. Good bistro food. I'm glad they have expanded their dessert offerings but the "apple strudel" I was offered turned out to be a small dish of hot apple cobbler with ice cream (at a pricey $10). These are not even close and if the staff don't know the difference something is seriously wrong.

Luis Montes

Cozy atmosphere and good food.

Jamie Gardner

This lovely restaurant serves delicious, delicately cooked delights that are reasonably priced for the quality and a charming atmosphere. Plus, the patio is kid friendly. We love it!

Carmen Olvera

So far a good place to learn an work something new . i liked it but that's one person opinion

Barb The Traveler

Had one of my favorite comfort Foods tomato soup and a grilled cheese. The grilled cheese came on a really great and crusty bread. The soup was prepared perfectly. Will definitely go back when I can. I often slip back into a paleo diet and I recognized I will have a harder time to eat here when I'm eating correctly. I know they had options but I did not try any of them for Paleo because I liked the grilled cheese and tomato soup so well.

Alex F

Delectable neighborhood French cuisine and market. A little expensive for the 1) service (they had two waiters for the prime lunch time on a Friday!) and 2) the small portions. However, the quality of the food was spectacular and the cheese bar was a great experience. Their bread is fresh and delicious. Will come back for sure, but more for special occasions since it is pretty pricey.

Ketan Patel

My wife and I went here for the beignets. We loved them! Warm, not too sweet. Will be back for them and a meal.

Anish Patel

Free beignets with entreé!

Brock England

Great food, great service, great vibe.

Me Annonymous

The duck and grits has got to be the best thing that's ever happened to my taste buds. To follow that with those beginets was pure bliss. I'm addicted.

Lina Rivas

This place definitely is a hidden gem. Great atmosphere for lunch (they are also open for dinner). The food was delicious, and coffee was amazingly good.

Katy Tedmon-Bury

I have not had such great service & food like this in a long time! We sat outside on the patio (lovely) and had a really great waiter who offered great suggestions and was attentive and kind. The food was to die for—with beignets to finish everything off! I had the quiche du jour but stole a few bites of my friend’s salmon toast. Even the side salad was awesome. Quality ingredients (comté cheese in the quiche WOW!) and awesome flavors without being too heavy. Can’t wait to come back here and try more things off the menu. Oh, and try the cold brew!

John Duncan

Good coffee, interesting plates. Would recommend.

Valerie spicer

Wish i could review the cuisine. Unfortunately we waited 20+ minutes after being seated without any service at all. nothing . Upon leaving a waiter asked if we were alright. When we said what happened the waiter wasn’t very accommodating - told us it was our fault for showing up at a “weird time”. Ok???

Ula Sytnik

Magnificent beef tartare! LOVED gnocchi! and trout was delicious.

Barry Lee

Cool place for breakfast. A small place so you might share a table.

John Tassoulas

I like epicerie very much. The menu is somewhat limited but good!

Eva Coffee

The prettiest and tastiest thing I've ever eaten.

Emily Dodson

Not vegan friendly—came here for brunch yesterday. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals, but there wasn’t a vegan option on the menu for me. I ordered the kale & salmon salad without the salmon. They charged me $16 for it, and I left hungry. Will not be back.

Chris Hilton

One of the best restaurants in Austin. Impossible to to have a bad meal here and everything is expertly prepared, flavorful, and interesting. The Sunday brunch is perfect and everything I want on a menu. Small but bright and light feeling inside, it's always a pleasure to eat here.

Rudy Peña

Been coming here for a few years now and I've always had a great meal. Who knew I going to like chicken liver pate until I had it on their charcuterie plate. Quality food and service!

Janessa Spencer

Waiter was eh but the atmosphere and food was 100

Tanya Schmidt

Small but perfect menu. Beignets are a must have!

Cheyenne Barnes

great place to relax, people watch, eat good food or all the above. the place has a nice atmosphere.

Leoric Rodriguez

Homey and comfortable place with a light menu featuring some tasty food. We ordered the pork chop special and the mussles. Mussles were really good! The sauce was flavorful and mussles tasted fresh. Pork came overcooked, but the staff was quick to remedy and the dish was much better. Service was great in our experience, but the menu was quite pricy for what you get.

Omar Del Sogno Blu

Epicerie is a modern, pretty place, food is always been interesting and vibrant.. I have to say it's been not so awesome lately..

Jamie Moyer

Rarely leave reviews but want to say thank you to the owners/staff for a perfect brunch. Best beignets outside of NOLA (better than Café Du Monde). Love the interior and the neighborhood. Great prices, fast service. Adding this to my must-visit list when I return to Austin.

Sherrl Carpenter

Dog friendly good buffalo milk cheese

Jared Deer

Gorgeous and quaint location. Thoroughly enjoyed the music taste while I waited for my food. Relaxing, bright, and open atmosphere. The egg Roxanne was heavenly. A Cajun rice with green onion, hot sauce and a poached egg. Accompanied by a honey butter biscuit that was just the right texture and flavor. Not dry, not heavy or notable presence of lard. A fair price point for just the right amount of food to feel satiated but not weighed down or incapacitated. The drio coffee was ok, I'd prioritize espresso drinks next time.

Ashley Fox-Castillo

One of the best brunches we have had in a while, the scratch made food was absolutely divine.

Rob Burleigh

Really enjoyed everything I've ordered there. The first time I went, I wasn't sold, but subsequent visits have proven that initial opinion inaccurate. The burger is great, as is the beat & barley salad.

James Park

i was super full. i will be bringing family next time. prices that are reasonable.

Kacey Christian

A wonderful experience eating here for brunch. The beignets were fluffy and crunchy, the coffee was so smooth and flavorful, and gosh—the duck grits were fabulous. I’ve never tasted such buttery duck, it melted in my mouth. The jus with the grits really made it. I absolutely loved the hibiscus mint tea. Probably the best brunch place I’ve tried in ATX!

Chad Barker

it was so appetizing. the service here is better than most. prices are decent for the quality.

Janet Walker

The atmosphere was great and the service was wonderful but my main course was a pastrami sandwich which was 14.00 and it was basically a sandwich of fat. I thought, oh well, I guess the French just eat fat for their pastrami sandwiches. However, looking at the pictures on the internet of the sandwich, I realize they must of been at the end of the day with little more to serve. I might go back but the fact they were willing to serve it to me, is not a good sign.

Jared Aguilar

Very chill vibes & fancy food

Ryan Hutchinson

Really cool spot. Great food. Wine selection was huge. Desert was amazing.

Marshall Doreen

Great food and great coffee

Chris Lorance

Fantastic dining experience. Staff, atmosphere and food were top notch. I’m still craving the unique take on fried green tomatoes. My wife had the drum which was amazingly layered in flavor. I wish this place was near us because we would be there at least once a week.

byron meade

Pricey but everything I've had there had been excellent.

Nola Lu

I am always impressed by this cute little French spot! I've never been disappointed by the delicious food having been coming here for years now! However, on my latest visit, we had the worst service ever. Docking one star out of my normal 5 for the poor service. Our waiter never refilled our drinks even when asked, and it took us almost two hours for what we had hoped would be a quick birthday lunch for a coworker. Multiple staff walked by our table, virtually ignoring us, and there were few other patrons in the restaurant that day. I'll be back for the food but hopefully the service improves!

Lexi Brandt

Wonderful food, cozy atmosphere!!!

Mason Bonar

I just like it. It reminded my father of a French countryside home (but in an American way). Coffee was average.

Brandon Berry

The place has an awesome feel to it.

Max Vanderheyden

I am ecstatic that you brought the steak frites back to the menu! Once the restaurant changed to no longer be counter service I was sad, some of the neighborhood feeling went away. But I am happy to see this place busy and the tables turning over more quickly. Great cheese, coffee, and one of my favorite breakfast spots.

Paul Mattthews

With elegant simplicity this cafe has a small but eclectic menu of breakfast items, sandwiches, gourmet cheese's, and drink selections. The prices are a little high but reasonable, the wait staff is impeccable, and the patio is nice and quiet. While it can tend to be a bit noisy inside and the chairs could use some cushion, this has got to be one of the best cafes in Austin.

Christopher Corbett

The perfect neighborhood bistro. Comfortable while still special. Excellent food and service while still approachable prices. And great cheese and wine selections if you want to use it as a store.

Karen O'Shea

I do not understand why Epicerie is not overbooked. We eat out often. By far, our go to restaurant. Outshines the rest in regard to simple, elegant dishes. Don’t leave without the beignets.

Andre Reyes

Previously only went for beignets to go and then ate them in the park across from the Thinkery (Beignets in the Park). Finally tried them out for breakfast and was not impressed. Very limited and overpriced menu. No options for kids. We had two orders of the "Mad Dog" pancakes and the after-taste from each bite had us each making faces at each other as if to try and figure out what the taste was but in a not happy type of way. Pancakes were a little too cooked for my taste as were the beignets. They even raised the price of the beignets from $6 to $8 and you now get one less beignet. That seems all kinds of wrong to me. I mean, $8 for 3 beignets is just not worth it. While the place, the ambiance, and decorations are all lovely - and they do have stylish and very clean bathrooms - we are most likely all done with coming here.

David Cerio

People were very critical of my appaerence apparently I have way too many tattoos for their tastes very rude to me

vineel kodikanti

Enjoyed the short menu and clean tasting dishes

Rachel Quevedo

My choice when I want a delicious meal without the loud chaos of many Austin restaurants. The space is charming, natural light in dining area is beautiful and the food is sooo good! Try the beignets, I think they are better than café du monde.

Don Groff

Good food and interesting menu that changes daily.

Nicola Davies

Yum! Have eaten here several times and it's always great. Lovely for a lunch meeting, coffee, date, dinner with my kids, girls lunch, you name it! Haven't yet found a dish I don't like. There are vegetarian friendly items and a cheeseburger and grilled cheese with tomato soup, so there's even something for the less adventurous.

perfectdesign33

The food was great. I really wanted to try the raclette, but they informed me that it had been taken off the menu for now. The waiter heard that I had inquired about it and suggested that i try the fried halloumi because I would probably enjoy it and he was definitely right. For the main course, a friend of mine had the quiche and it was fantastic. I had the porchetta, and it was also very good. The prices were a bit steep, so I don't think I'll eat here very often, but everything that I've tried there so far was great, so I definitely think it's worth a visit.

Cameron Rison

Service is always top notch. Never had a disappointing experience. #eatoutside #datenight

Nathan Hourt

Best beef tartare I've had in years. Everything is delicious.

John Seay

Great cheese and entrees. Wine and beer selection above average. Nice folks running the place.

Farzana Sedillo

Background: this was my second time at Epicerie. My first experience was fantastic with great service worthy of more stars than what was given today. The hostess was courteous with putting us on the list for Sunday brunch. The estimated 40 minutes ended up being much shorter. Our waiter was uninspiring, but functionally did everything he should have. The hot fried chicken sandwich breakdown: the fried chicken was delicious, cooked perfectly and not hot at all for those worried about spice levels. For those needing more heat, the hot sauce provided for the table was delicious (and can also be purchased). The fried egg underneath the chicken was a delightful surprise of creamy goodness. The pickles and sauce were a nice contrast. The fries on the plate were pure sadness though. Barely lukewarm. Slightly wrinkled and not a lot of flavor. I thought perhaps I got the last of a batch but when I looked at other people’s tables they had the same sad appearance as mine. This could have been a good accompaniment for the sandwich, but alas was not meant to be today.

Yancee Hardy

Incredible! Amazing atmosphere, great food, great people.

Kate Shepard

Cured salmon toast is perfect.

Chris 'Kaz' Wojtewicz

The food is always interesting and delicious.

Spencer M

It's such a sweet wholesome place, great attention to detail and service! Great for a date!

Kevin Roberts

Excellent food and service, but no WiFi so not an ideal place to hang out and work. Very nice atmosphere, and excellent coffee. Lots of pastry and food choices as you'd expect from a French cafe.

Alana Parker

Simple, classic French bistro fare done right

Christine Alemany

Came here for a weekday brunch with a friend. I got the pulled pork and brown rice, which also had kale and a packed egg. It was tasty. My friend got the salmon toast and enjoyed hers as well. We finished off with an order of beignets. The food was great. The service was a little off, and I was annoyed that the drip coffee was charged per cup. Other than that, it was a great experience. Also, they didn't have a Bloody Mary/ brunch cocktail option.

Jason Todd

The food was fantastic of course, but I was expecting bigger portions for the price. The service was also pretty bad, for example it took like 10 minutes for us to get some extra plates. Lastly the place was very loud so I couldn’t really talk, nonetheless the good quality of the food gets this place 3 stars. Also the regular menu seemed much better than the brunch menu and consisted more things. Great beer selection though

Lynn Chen

Modern and chic restaurant/cafe with good selection of beers, wine and cheese.

Greetings Tour

Literally one of my favorite meals in Austin so far. Ordered the steak and gnocchi were both delicious! Slightly on the salty side but that could be my personal taste.

David Ralston

This was so horrible. The service was worse than San Francisco’s. Which is REALLY saying something. The food was over cooked and salty beyond edible. So disappointed. Had heard good things. I’m guessing the Labor Day staff was not the norm. Neither the cook nor the waiters. It was SO BAD.

Jordan Hoffmann

The breakfast sandwich and latte were fantastic. The begnets reminded us of New Orleans but better. Lovely ambiance and service as well. Will definitely come back.

Chloe Hawkings

I came here for brunch on Memorial Day and was impressed with the salmon toast and the coffee. My food was incredibly fresh and delicious. The service was excellent and I absolutely loved the vibe. I tried the pastrami also and while I loved the sauerkraut and bread, the sandwich overall wasn’t my favorite pastrami, the meat was a little lean and crispy but I think this comes down to personal preference. I’m looking forward to visiting again.

Dave Kaplowitz

Charming neighborhood bistro with great food and friendly service. The French onion soup was the real deal and the local tomato salad was fresh and delicious. Do not miss the beignets!!! Only thing lacking was decaf espresso so I could have a late night cappuchino. Please work on that lol.

Nnenna Umelloh

I was a little cautious eating here because it looked overpriced but the food was worth every penny. This place is actually so cute and quaint. Definitely come during the off time. The entire restaurant is so cute. I love it.

J Scates

Excellent food, lovely service, comfortable setting.

Charles Barksdale

Great small menu!

Peter Wasielewski

Love this place. Good food, great atmosphere. Would definitely go again

Korey Conley

Amazing duck and grits and beneits. Great service, great place. Can't stop dreaming about brunching here again.

Vic Digital

Mmmmmm can't say more

Dominic Salinas

We came here for breakfast and waited for service. Servers never bothered to greet us or even bring us anything to drink or even offer water.

hammad

Eggs Benedict was absolutely delicious, service gets a little slow during peak hours. But I would definitely go here again

Ravi Vemulapalli

We used to live less than a mile away. Even though we have moved away our girls demand that we keep on coming back. This place always has good good. The beignets ate to die for. The burgers are so good my daughter specifically craves the ones here. She even has developed a taste for the cheese plate. I enjoy the coffee and my wife loves the gnocchi. You can’t go wrong eating here.

Jacob

Paid a lot for what turned out to be an unremarkable meal. Fried green tomatoes were burned, steak was rare (not medium well like I ordered), frites were burned. Maybe they hired a new chef, I dunno, but it definitely didn't feel worth the $100 I paid.

Federico C.

great brunch

arman rezaee

Unfortunately foods here are not fresh. I ordered a chicken thigh and it was old and microwaved. Beignet was the only thing which was good.

David Wiese

We enjoyed the Eggs Benedict and Croquet Madam. It was a fun shop too with small food goodies to buy.

Sebastian Ament

Fantastic breakfast and brunch!

Rachael Bonser

Good french fries and tasty soup

Rhonda Borbiliac

We were very disappointed to learn that their breakfast selection during the week only consists of a handful of dishes. Nonetheless, we decided to give their breakfast a try. We both ordered the breakfast sandwich, coffees, and an order of beignets. The sandwich was EXTREMELY salty! We couldn't pinpoint if it was the bacon or the cheese spread or a combination of the two. We asked for an over easy egg but received it sunny side up. I asked the waitress to bring me another egg that was over easy. This time the egg was over hard. I expect this sort of thing when ordering at Panera Bread, but not for a $9 sandwich. I didn't request another egg after this. We had already waited 30 minutes for our sandwich (only one other table in the restaurant). The beignets were good....not too sweet. I can't really tell you how I felt about the coffee because the coffee cup burned my lower lip so bad. They need to get new coffee mugs. The coffee mug was so hot to the touch. Never before have I burned my BOTTOM lip when sipping coffee. Needless to say, I don't see any reason why we would return. Just to be clear, the most disappointing part about our meal was definitely the sandwich. Maybe this just wasn't the "right" thing to order...

RAVENLOFT DARKLORD

Terrible food, prices and somewhat rude service. I wanted to go to New Orleans for some beignets and Cafe du Monde coffee but I settled and went here instead with a friend. I asked the waitress who had an ugly metal piercing on her face like a disgusting mole if they had coffee like in New Orleans. She quickly set me straight that Epicerie is a provincial French restaurant and not Cajun like the Cafe du Monde. I ordered hot Chai tea since I would be disappointed in the coffee. Tasted my friend's cup of joe and it was nothing special. The beignets were more like biscuits you would get from an order of fried chicken. I had to ask for honey which was artificially flavored to go with the beignets. One would think honey would naturally be served with beignets. Guess I will have to go to New Orleans to get the real thing.

Ashley Haywood

What a great breakfast restaurant we found within walking distance from the Airbnb we rented. The coffee and tea selection was top notch and food was fantastic! I had the Egg Roxanne, with the egg poached hard. The presentation was very creative and allowed for you to build your breakfast how it suited you with the egg and dirty rice in a jar, biscuit sliced and grilled with the house made butter separate as well. I piled the food on the biscuit half and loved everything about it, but especially the scallions on top that added freshness. My husband got the Pulled Pork and Brown rice with fermented kale. Yes, it was as good as it sounds. As far as creative breakfast spots, this is a huge win.

Steven W

Food and atmosphere is amazing. Service is a little meh. Definitely recommend you check this place out.

Gretchen Ritter

Tasty but a tad pricey. Last night I had a small Caesar salad , salmon toast, and a glass of wine (q relatively light supper) and the bill was over $40. Both the salad and toast were good. The salad had freshly grated Parmesan and a creamy, rich dressing. The toast was on a single slice of brioche with fresh dill and a bit of cucumber salad and capers on the side. Both were well done.

Allen Riley

Great quice

Hadley Rodriguez

It was so delicious. The service was very kind and attentive. Bring your hunger - portions are large.

Jacqueline Naud

It really good! Love their beignets.

Arleen Diaz

Burger was delicious and Im no fan of burgers in general. Cute place for a lunch.

Kim

Best quiche in town!

alan powell

Find the dish that you like and enjoy the place

Marcus Jennings

i love eating here. i will be bringing friends next time.

Luisa Castillo

I enjoyed the atmosphere...delicious food and mimosas!

Renee Cornue

Great food and quiet, cozy atmosphere. This is one of those hidden gems that you really only know about by word-of-mouth or driving by and peeking in. Definitely pay this place a visit.
