Here you will be able to see the feddbacks of real people who are purchasing the services of Coltivare Pizza & Garden (Restaurant) in the area close to Texas.
Now this business receives a score of 4.5 stars over 5 and that score was based on 894 reviews.
You must have seen that its rating is nearly the best one, and it is founded on a large number of reviews, so we may conclude that the assessment is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they are happy with the service, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to put feddbacks when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Italian restaurant.
Parking is an issue and so is splitting a salad into two. 5 guys behind the bar and still had to lock eyes to order. I get the feeling if we were wearing nicer clothes we would have had better service. Food was delicious and prompt.
Creatively prepared Italian food, with a menu drawing on local farmers. A delightful herb and flower garden provides a waiting area for tables. You can order drinks and enjoy the scent of basil, thyme, etc
Strongly recommend you get here early. The place is pretty small and there's usually a line before they open. They don't take reservations, but the pizza was so good! The drinks were amazing! I'll definitely be back to try their other dishes.
A fav location for tasty italian food. Cool location to meet with coworkers. I'll return with my coworkers. It has a good feel to it. Feels like a place in Los Angeles I liked.
Went here late and it was still packed. The service was excellent and the food was creative and had excellent presentation. I enjoyed it.
Food here is great if you can get it, service could use some work. You need more parking, 3 parking spots doesn't cut it. You either take carry out orders or you dont, giving customer attitude about it, not answering your phone or making up the hours you're doing it as you go is very annoying. Maybe consider a limited amount of reservations instead of none at all.
Everything from the cocktails to the pizza is so fresh and delicious!
Great food, but a little pricy. Also he prepared for a wait!
Worth the wait! Very good food and libations. I definitely recommend this place
Great food, but service was kind of lame
Great place for tasty italian food. Definitely one of the best places in the area. Prices were appropriate.
Wonderful little pizza shop. Reasonably priced, very good selection of topping and crust. Very good service and friendly staff.
The best pizza!! The spaghetti is to die for. Well, everything on the menu is amazing!
Great service. Good food. Inside can be quite loud. Be ready to wait if you are not there when they open. Dessert was so good, we got one to go!
Very nice ambient. Went during busy hours but took a stroll through the garden and the wait wasn't so bad after all. Definitely recommend a Melon Fresca, best refreshing drink I've tasted. The food and drinks have very earthy flavors and seasonal taste. Great service, overall nice experience.
Good location for tasty italian food. Food was so yummy. Prices that won't break you.
The staff is friendly, and manage to move through the crowd with ease. I never felt like I had to wait too long for my order to be taken or arrive. The collection of beer on tap is fine, and goes well with the delicious pizzas. Everyone in Houston needs to come here at least once.
Pizza was not quite Neapolitan but good nonetheless. Steak was excellent, service was top notch.
The most over rated place in houston.they have better service at MacDonalds.you have to serve yourself.the waiter are more interested in what tip they are going to get.instead of taking care of the custumer to get a good tip.the portion for a $20 dollar plate is so small that you can fit it.in one of your cavities in your teeth.$15 dollar for a drink???? Come on!!! I spended $87 dollars with my wife.and we had to get home and cook.the whole reason we went was for my wife not to cook tonight. I being to xochi many times.it is expensive.but at least i don't have to go and get my own water to my table and i am full when i live the place.sorry coltivare pizza.but i will never set foot on your place ever again.
I felt like this was a very reasonably priced nice night out with my boyfriend. We went on a Saturday night. You can wait in the garden area where they grow things and there are drink servers to bring you drinks till you are sat at a table. I thought that was very cool. We have the burrata appetizer that was delicious and very fresh. I had the ricotta gnocchi which are two of my favorite things and it was the perfect taste and consistency. I also had the polenta shortcake which had incredible flavors and texture. Would definitely return back for a date night or night out with friends!
Loud, but exquisite food.
We had a great time, delicious food and drink!
Went with 3 others. Our appetizers and entrees were great. They grow their own veggies so some menu items will change. Seasonal cocktails also good.
The food is clean and delicious. The waitstaff is very nice. The manager doesn't know what she's doing, as default they tell everyone that the wait is 1hr 45 mins or more. Our wait was only 24 mins while another group only waited 45. When I asked her why they don't provide a more realistic window, her response was basically, it's just what we do and we know we lose 50% of our clients because they end up going somewhere else. I've never heard of a restaurant wanting to give their guests away, very odd! But their cocktails are on point.
This place is awesome, beautiful atmosphere and amazing flavors I recommend stuffed conchiglie
Yummm, everything I and my partner had was excellent.
Great staff, service was magnificent. The garden definitely took it hard this winter, but hopefully it comes back to full blossom in spring. The food was delicious, would recommend.
Food is awesome with particular attention to details. The kitchen is a well oiled machine pumping out incredible dishes, spot on! Pizza was genuine.
Mediocre food, not sure what all the hype is about. Had a pizza and a salad and felt like both were overpriced for the quality.
Heard nothing but great things about this place and it fell short from that when I came to visit. It was my birthday and I chose to dine here for dinner with my sister. Started off with the long wait due to the fact they don't take reservations. After about 45 mins of waiting, we were seated inside in an obnoxiously loud dining room. Server Ashely came to greet us and state she will get us started with water. Waited almost 10 mins and observed another couple seated, water was served to them, and order was taken all within the time span of us waiting. Highly irritated and starving at this point. Ashely took quite a bit a time coming back and water was served by a different person. Literally had to make eye contact to get any sort of acknowledgement or attention for assistance. After Ashely came back, I brought it up to her attention that I watched a couple being served already and I think it's a bit a little crazy having to wait this long for her to come back and place our order. She apologized, however her reasoning was a bit rude. She stated she had other tables and bottles to tend to, as if we were less than whom she was serving. It was my birthday and she literally put a damper on first impressions. Food was served and I can't say anything was spectacular or mind blowing good. Not sure if we just didn't order the right dishes but it was just alright... super disappointed and thought to myself, I will never come back. We got the chickpea fries, flank steak with grilled polenta, chicken and prosciutto pizza, as well as the grilled octopus. Again, nothing spectacular. Lacked flavor and uniqueness to all dishes. The rest of the nights service was left unsatisfying. She couldn't even make up for what had happened at the beginning. Instead it just got worst and worst... the silent attitude happened and I literally bit my tongue the entire night from telling her off. I definitely will not be back.
This is the best Houston dining experience I have had in a while. Everyone in my group LOVED the dishes. I got the gnocchi and it was delicious. Our waiter Jaymai was amazing: he made great suggestions and was a lot of fun and took care of our party. It’s been a long time since I have had a waiter with such outstanding service and personality. The bread and mozzarella are amazing. The atmosphere is cozy, romantic, and laid back. Can be crowded, which is why this is the first time eating here. I went on a Sunday night and got sat immediately.
Dood. Literally the best pasta you will ever have in your life is their Black Pepper Pasta.
Excellent food that tastes fresh. Well-balanced and doesn't need a ton of sauce or flavors to impress. It's delicious and creative but still classic. Service was excellent. Will go back again and again.
Vegetable garden from their own back patio! Outstanding fresh food, service was awesome
A top spot for delicious Italian food. Cool place to meet and catch up with coworkers. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The bill was good for how much you get.
Glad we came back when there wasn't a 2 hour wait. Food was great, but not worth a long wait! Tried the cacio e pepe and pizza, both were good.
Nice place for tasty Italian food. I like it here, excellent food & service. Nothing but pleasant experiences here. The bill was fair. Ambience reminds me of San Diego's scene.
The food was absolutely delicious! The melon salad was the best I’ve ever had. Service and ambience were also great! Can’t wait to come back!
This place never disappoints. Always great drinks and food. Staff always pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable.
Food is awesome and has a very creative wine list.
Cozy Italian-inspired eatery with brick oven pizza and handmade pastas. They don't take reservations, so arrive early because there can be a wait. The pizzas are delicious and they have a rotating specialty on the daily menu. There are other daily specials as well so check back often. The dishes were all well prepared, but I would rate this place a $$$ for non-pizza items, which can be expensive and portion-wise a bit small. The Google-supplied $$ is more relevant for the pizzas only, which are reasonably priced and good-sized. All in all, would definitely visit again.
Just loved it service food atmosphere all was very satisfying
Awesome service and good place to share dishes. A bit loud but good ambiance.
Parking - terrible! But the most disappointing part was the food. We had the octopus, margarita pizza, and the gnocchi. None of it was memorable. Also tried their “fancy” gin and tonic, again - nothing special. Service was slow. Guess I went in expecting much better food and service because it’s such a popular place with so much hype around it. The patio and garden are beautiful!
The Black Pepper Spaghetti was amazing and really enjoyed the Mi Amiga mock tail.
Very good Italian food. A place to have a drink and a delicious pasta or pizza. Typically packed with Heights crowd. Expect a bit of waiting time for a table.
Wonderful food; the pizzas and pastas were especially good. Incredibly loud: after ten minutes we gave up on conversation. And the servers are clearly instructed to remove plates as soon as possible. The combination of the noise and breathless rush made us all eager to get out.
Great food. Outdoor dining is great! Can be a wait.
This place has awesome food and is so much more than Pizza. They forgot to give me my box of to go left overs but nbd. Check out the Garden waiting area. I'd go just to hang out there.
Really cute ambience. Even waiting wasn't too bad thanks to the outdoor garden. Food was delicious and reasonably priced for the quality and atmosphere.
Basically an upscale pizza joint, in the heart of the Heights. Although everybody around us was having a pizza I opted for the tagliatelle Bolognese, which was quite good. Good cocktail menu, youngish crowd for the most part, although not just out of college young. Only downside here is no reservations, so you will wait a long time on a busy night. We arrived at 5:45 on a Saturday, thinking we would wait about half an hour. We were seated at 7:00.
As always, Coltivare impresses. It is so much fun to wait in their garden and sip on one of the custom drinks. I recommend their take on the Manhattan. Their focaccia bread as an app is always a great move and my date and I split a mozzarella/tomato/basil pizza which was delightful with the crispy potatoes as a side. What people may not know is that this is a super affordable place for dinner. Sure, drinks and wine can make it pricey, but you can be in and out of here food wise for under $15 a person, full, and happy. A great date spot for any occasion!
Outstanding meal-highly recommended.
Love this place and most of the items on the menu. Its decorated in a very cute manner and fits right in the area its in. Only negative thing that does not merit the take away of a star is that they don't take reservations. I don't blame them but either show up early or be prepared to wait.
It doesn't suck! Actually, everything was very good. The "small plate" appetizers and pizza were great. And our server , Ashley, helped with great selections
Food is mediocre and this place is way too overrated. If you wanna get fooled by people serving you fake Italian food, go ahead. Waiting time is 1hr.
Incredible pasta. Would definitely recommend the carrots for an appetizer and make sure you make reservations ahead of time.
Fine spot for delicious italian food. arrived at five, it wasn't busy. i look forward to a return trip. it has a nice feel to it. feels like a place in los angeles i liked.
Nice atmosphere, good options for vegetarians, the pizza with 4 cheese and the pizza with vegetables were amazing. Nice staff and reasonable price!
Delicious meal in a fun outdoor setting. Highly recommend the house gin and tonic, cauliflower small plate, and pizza! Amazing waitstaff will take care of you while you wait for a table. Well worth the wait!!
Excellent food and drinks. Tight confines and a very popular place make wait times very long. Exceptional otherwise.
Terrific farm-to-table pizza place in the Heights. Many ingredients are grown in their own garden. The atmosphere has character but is still laid back. Go early as they do not take reservations and wait-times can be long. Street parking available nearby.
Fresh, delicious food and great service. Very busy place so plan for a wait, but worth it. The focaccia was my favorite. It's fresh, hot, and amazing.
If only the food lived up to the menu description! Sauce should be part of a dish and not just decoration. Pizza was no better than from a freezer at 5 times the price. If you want - not even asking for excellent - just good food - this place is not it. If you like the usual all looks no delivery trendy fancy cocktail place with indifferent pretentious food - then it’s probably for you. Parking is a nightmare. Definitely never going back.
This is a great date spot if you don't mind waiting for a table. Since you can't make reservations you need to wait for a table but due to the popularity of this place wait times on weekends can be 1.5 hours or more. If you can, go on a weekday when wait times are much more respectable. They do have a nice garden in the back where you can wait and order drinks though. Sometimes we go to a bar nearby to wait and then head over when they text us our table is ready. They usually will hold your spot for 10 minutes once they text you, just ask when you put your name in. Once you are seated to order, I highly recommend sharing a pizza and the black pepper pasta. For an appetizer we enjoy getting the prosciutto. The waiters are also very nice and food comes out quickly, but not too quick. If you live in Houston you definitely need to try this place since the food is soooo good! But plan on waiting!
This is one of the most difficult restaurants to get into. We showed up at 5pm when it opened and there was a line. As a vegetarian, I was happy that there were decent options. I had the arancini and the pasta. Overall the meal was good and dessert was spectacular. Service was remarkable. This is one of those places where you enjoy the dining experience. Highly recommended.
Great atmosphere and service! The food is good and great variety.
Always a pleasure to eat here. The wait outside is just a part of the experience. If you go late enough there is no wait, but it is not a big deal.
I will definitely recommend the arancini, which in my opinion is one of the best ones in town. The bucatini was also a hit. The grilled octopus was good but I would have liked it to be less chewy on the inside and more charred on the outside. Also, I wasn’t a fan of the fusion sweet tagliatelle dish or the old fashioned. The service was great.
One of the best restaurants in Houston. Excellent food and drinks. Gets packed quickly, there is usually a wait.
Coltivare has difficulty accommodating guests with Celiac's disease. The manager was kind and worked through the menu with me, but the menu becomes very limited quickly. I went for pizza, but found out they coat the bottom of the gluten free pizza crust in regular flour before putting it in the oven. That was a major disappointment and their menu is very misleading; I would not have driven to the Heights had they had a note on the menu that the dough is gf, but they add regular flour during preparation. There are many other restaurants in Houston that are equally (and more) accomodating for gluten free diets.
Be aware of their seating policies. I sat at the bar attempting to order a drink and appetizer as I waited for my friends to park. I currently have a broken arm and moving from seat to seat as the hostess demand was uncomfortable and on the verge of harassment. I would not recommend the gluten free pasta or pizza.
If there was a sixth star they would get it. Absolutely the best restaurant I have been to. Go early and go often. The pasta and pizza are amazing and the veggies are the best!
Great dining experience. Wait times are a little disheartening.
Great good ..great Atmosphere drinks are so good. ..food is excellent
U can't order till six and then u have to wait thirty minutes extra for a pick up even if ur here at 530. If this restaurant wants to use 3rd party delivery. They need to have better Togo skills. Manger insits pickups wait till thoes who come personally are served. Either don't be hungry when you order or just have nothing todo but wait for everyone else to be served before u.
Another spot I should have reviewed long ago, but better late than never. Coltivare is a small, unassuming little place in the Heights with a cool garden and outside patio dining set up. We ate there recently and they have us the "hour and a half for an outside table" line for rookies and idiots. We said fine and one cocktail and 45 minutes later we were seated. We shared the focaccia and wife had black pepper spaghetti with shrimp added and it had the bucatini with pancetta and sausage. Yay and yum! Our waiter was super cool and the entire staff was accommodating. Good food and good vibes. Great place for the rotation and a nice spot to recommend to visitors.
Outstanding dinner and drinks. Their gin and tonic was a tasty twist on a classic drink and the prosciutto on their pizza is some of the best I've ever had. Service was great and our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable about everything on and off the menu. If you don't get there pretty quick after it opens, there'll likely be a wait, but they do have a beautiful garden that they grow ingredients in where you can pass the time.
Went for a girl's night out. Unfortunately, you can not me reservations, so we were there waiting for about an hour before being seated at the bar. Food was delicious, however very pricey. Portions are small, especially when considering prices. Drinks are delicious, but could used a bit more liquor in them. Overall, nice ambience and had a good time, not sure if I'll go back.
We live this place! You have to be there before it opens or prepare to wait. Waiting isn't terrible since the garden is wonderful and the cocktails fan! If you haven't been there, get one of their pizzas as a starter to share, always good, add is the chocolate rum cake to end the evening.
The foods were out of this world and the service was excellent. A hidden gem in the heights.
Delicious cocktails in the garden while we waited, fresh salad greens and the best handmade pasta with bolognese sauce! YUM YUM YUM!
TLDR: Overall, probably not worth another visit considering how much of a pain it is to find parking, how long you'll wait to be seated, how much longer the food will take to come out, and how underwhelming some of the food will be. If I cared only about food, I'd give Coltivare a 2 or 3, but there are other things to love about this restaurant that, at least for me, made up for the underwhelming food. And let me preface this by saying I'm far from an expert on Italian cuisine, so take my review as coming from someone who just likes things that taste good. Tagliatelle (2/5): Looks like they have a rotating menu; mine was served with shrimp and corn, which were the saving grace of this dish. Everything else was flavorless. The noodles are served almost dry and the meager amount of sauce on the plate had no taste. Hey, maybe that's what tagliatelle is supposed to be like but it's certainly not my cup of tea. However, it would be remiss of me to not applaud the tender shrimp and sweet, sweet corn. Figs and prosciutto (2/5): This dish was okay. Could have done without it. The figs weren't very sweet so there wasn't much there to offset the taste of the prosciutto. And it was served cold, too. Pizza (5/5): If I ever came back to Coltivare (debatable), I'd order pizza. This pizza makes it into my top 2 of all time (after a place in Brooklyn). It was topped mostly with seasonal veggies (squash, eggplant) and an amazing pesto sauce. What really made this pizza was the sick crust. I even started eating it backwards to get to the crust first. Drinks (5/5): They have great mocktails! Nana colada, roaring waters, and melo fresca were delicious and refreshing. Service (5/5): We loved our server. She was so sweet and didn't hesitate to bring us a second round of drinks for free when our food took WAY LONGER than it should have. Ambiance (???/5): Really depends on where you end up sitting. I'm glad we got seated outdoors by the string-lit garden because it was peaceful and romantic. But indoors sounded like utter chaos!!
Delicious Italian restaurant. Their menu is great. Offering pizzas, pastas, small plates, snacks, and entrees. Loved the ricotta gnocchi with parmesan and greens. The spaghetti with crushed pepper and oil was super tasty too. The parmesan potatoes (side) are a must! Loved the carrot salad, super fresh. It is very nice to wait at the patio as you can order drinks. Their gin & tonic was terrific. The ambience is great, the inside gets a bit loud though, maybe the terrace is better. A must in Houston for sure.
So good I like
Good site for italian food. i love it here. i had a brother come into town and asked me to take him back here. prices are decent. makes me feel like i in nashville again.
This is a restaurant where your expectations going in can really affect your overall meal. The food will be excellent, the drinks will be excellent and unless you get there at least 15 minutes before they open you will wait and that is ok. They have a wonderful garden waiting area where they have drink service. Treat going to Colitvare as if you are going for drinks before dinner and the typical hour wait will not be an issue. Their menu rotates but if they have their peaches and duck salad get it because it is wonderful.
Fantastic food and atmosphere. Well-done classic old fashioned, and the prosciutto figs and pizzas are amazing. Get dessert too!
Great local place in the Heights. Nice outdoor area to wait for your table, and there is usually a wait.
Fresh food, great staff, overall goodness all in one package!
One of my favorite places for delicious Italian food. I like it here, great food & service. Prices are fair I would say.
We had the best experience here even when it's super crowded. We were supposed to meet our friend there around 5pm but traffic was super bad. Didn't get there until 5:30. Even my friend was there much early they made him wait for us. We were a little mad since we have a child with us worry the wait gonna make the kid fuzzy. Once we arrived they actually saved us that seat. I thought it was super thoughtful of them. Place is pretty intimate and modern , doesn't look the typical Italian Restaraunt. They try to locally source their food and farm some of them on the menu. That was interesting. We ordered couple of HRWs. The price is not too much difference than the regular menu. But keep in mind you donate $5 to houston food bank! Isn't that awesome? Lol. Food was amazing, fig was super sweet, love love love the prosciutto and the blue cheese. Octopus is bit small than I imagined but still good. Their tag light shrimp pasta was super good and nothing to what I had before. Very flavorful but not too heavy. Pepper spaghetti I thought maybe too peppery and plain even if it's good, but our waiter Jaime who is amazing told us we can always add some extra stuff in it. That's good to know! Desert is fabulous! I hadn't had panna cotta this rich for a while now. Highly recommended! But try to be there by 5 or you will have to wait an hour.
Delicious and exceptional food, service and presentation. Who could want for more?? ♥️
Wonderful food and service in the restaurant! Had quite a wait for a drink outside and had to finally flag someone down, but it was all worth it. Great sitting in the garden knowing that your salad is growing right there
Excellent food, great beer, good wine and cocktails, atmosphere is great expect inside is to loud.
The wait may seem extraneous, but it is worth it. Have a glass of wine in the garden for an hour to pass the time, which isn't a bad deal. The service was incredible, and the food is top-notch. Love this neighborhood gem.
Italian food and the feeling at this location is super good. I love this place so much. The staff was sociable and attentive. It has a nice atmosphere.
Awesome place in the heights! One of my all time favorite restaurants in Houston. Great staff and delicious Italian food!
Groups over 6 beware, unless your related to the manager on duty. We had a party of 8 for a birthday dinner. Showed up at 4:30pm to be first in line. We were first in line, waited til open at 5pm and were advised we would need to wait at least another hour+ for a table. We were told there were two large parties in front of us. Coltivare doesn't take reservations, so how could we be the first in line but two large parties in front of us? Well, The manager on duty had reserved a large table for her family who did not wait in line and weren't present at opening. Not a good look for the manager on duty. She gets to rule her little kingdom though as she sees fit. We drove from Cypress and had brothers in from Austin to eat here and had babysitters waiting so we sat at two separate 4 tops, missing out on eating dinner with each other. We won't be back.
The food and service is amazing!! I'm never cooking Sunday dinner again.
italian food and the feeling here is excellent. The food was so savory. Looking forward to a return visit. It has a cool interior. Food is like a place in Baltimore I loved.
So delicious, comfortable atmosphere and you get to wait in the garden.
Always a great time! Service was outstanding and the food was top notch! Also, they have a cool backyard area to hang out in if there is a wait for a table.
Great spot for some traditional Italian food. I warn you, the wait is long from the moment the restaurant opens for dinner so make sure to plan for this. Either arrive well before the restaurant opens, or make plans to come early for a few drinks while you wait the hour and a half it takes to be seated (they have a nice, expansive outside area where you can wait for your table). They have yummy craft cocktails as well. When you are finally seated, please be mindful that the food all comes out as it is ready so dont make the mistake of ordering everything all at once because your dishes will get cold. Highly recommend: gnocchi, burrata
Great food, great staff. They'll take great care of you here.
What a great restaurant! It scored 10 in every category: food, atmosphere and service. Their pizza with tomato, basil and mozzarella is awesome. The prosciutto and parmesan is also amazing. I found the price to be very reasonable for this level of experience so highly recommended. The only caveats is this place is no secret and they don't do reservations so get there early or be ready to wait for a table. You can get drinks on the terrace while you wait. Will definitively come back for more.
Cute place in the Heights. It's a pretty typical hipster-type restaurant that tries too hard to be different. To call it an Italian restaurant would be a pretty big stretch. The crowds are to be expected, can get pretty cramped waiting especially around the dinner rush. Service was great and friendly. They have a cute menu of non-alcoholic cocktails that cost about as much as a regular cocktail. I got the duck and arugula salad that was way over salted that I couldn't finish it. The duck was okay but the rest of the salad had a strange flavor profile. The garden is cute but overrated - basically just benches next herb boxes with Christmas lights. Overall the food is poorly portioned and poorly seasoned; this place is not really worth the hype.
