Food is bland, the dirty, still semi wet silverware came rolled up in black polyester napkins. The bathrooms smell and it’s hard to tell if they are clean or not bc everything is black, including the toilet bowl. Not going back, had a stomach ache all night.

Update: I am on a restricted diet for health reasons. I ordered the fajitas with no beans or rice but extra vegetables (onions and peppers). Instead, the sever brought me a vegetable medley of asparagus, squash and others instead of the rice and beans. When I told her that was not what I ordered she apologized and offered to get the onions and peppers. She told me I could keep the veggie medley. Well....she charged for an additional side (the veggie medley) that I didn't even want! Because I ate it, I had to pay for it. Unreal! Original: Love the food here. It is definitely better quality than your typical Mexican restaurant and you will pay for that better quality. My only issue is the service is hit or miss. Sometimes the service is absolutely stellar (friendly smile, quick refills, don't feel rushed etc.). However, most of the time it is a typical bored teenager/college student (not friendly, have to ask for refills, acts like they want us to leave as soon as we get our food, etc.). For this type of establishment, I do have higher expectation for service. Therefore, while I do enjoy the food, I do not visit here as often because of the service. Step up the service and I would be a regular. Oh an the music can be very loud sometimes but not all the time. I hate going to restaurants that play loud music.

Quality food, excellent service. Comfortable atmosphere

Nadia Simmons

We went on Mother's Day for their special Mother's Day brunch. Everything tasted great, I just think it needed to be executed better. We waited a long time for certain foods and they couldn't keep up with replenishing the food. We also were asked to move at one point, so they could run a cord under our table, which was crammed against a wall and 2 other tables.

Sabrina Allen

Love this place! Not super authentic but they have good flavors and the enchiladas never disappoint

Stan Gunselman

Upper end Mexican. Great service and great food. My favorite is the stuffed poblanos. Choose chicken, beef or my favorite, the pork. Amazing

larry brothers

As my wife would say the sopapilla's are to die for

Gary Halstead

Brunch is best ever when they have it. Great staff.

Silambarasan Subramanian

Delicious Mexican food, but bit expensive

Theresa M

Great food, nice atmosphere with indoor & outdoor dining. Had the shrimp and grits which was very good. Recommend:)

Murph Dog

Good, but overrated.

Marta Scheenstra

Absolutely delicious! Believe it or not....their green chili burger is my favorite thing on their menu. The fries are awesome too. And I highly recommend getting the ice cream topped sopapilla for dessert!

Katherine Spencer

It’s sad how far this once amazing restaurant has fallen. A few of their items (guac) are still solid but what was once one of the best Mexican restaurants in town is now an overpriced replica of all the others. Hopefully it gets better :)

Kimberly Reyes

Nice decorations! We went for my sons bday lunch on dads lunch break..food is beautifully plated but the taste is just ok.. my son and I had the Chile verde burger and hubby had mini chimichangas.. the meats on everyone's plate we unseasoned. Our waiter seemed bored and overall annoyed, as if he had other things to do.. the wait was terrible, but the restaurant wasnt too busy.. the vibe is kinda sour, very high strung n kinda like the employees are under inmense pressure. They didnt seem happy...price was around $60 for 3 plates & soft drinks..not too bad I guess for the pretty plating and portion size....Overall, price, food, atmosphere, it's okay but not something I feel like I want to try again.

Mark Greunke

Really good food. The staff was fine and met my expectations. There wasn't really anything that stood out as exceptional but this is a solid choice for dining out. Try the dip with the cheese and chili (or beans).

Pete Shea

Great flavor of New Mexico and some creative dishes. Everything we tried was great. Salsa is a bit spicy, which was perfect for our group. Service was great too. Definitely going back!

Sunil Katti

Nice place and the servers may mix up your custom menu but they go to great lengths to make up for it.

Daryl Bullard

I tried the lobster street tacos and paired them with the bourbon barrel beer. The food and drink were both delicious. I was there with a decent sized group, and we were in the private back room, and it was very nice. There was a large table that allowed us to all sit around it, and we were able to have a pleasant conversation without having to yell.

George Vourazeris

Went there for lunch 8/8/19, horrible food and service don't go, they have gone down hill

Howard Anger

Good food & atmosphere.

Josh Zandman

Amazing food and very friendly staff! Mm y favorite dish is Chicken Fajitas. Quality meat and it tastes so good. Love this place!

Mike Booth

Food is fair at best and if you are seated in lounge be sure to double check your bill. Each time we were seated there the bill was incorrect

Brandon Howard

Kind of a disappointing experience. It was over priced and the food was bland. Also, the tacos we're tiny. Like even tinier than the taco places around town that serve small specialty tacos. We had a very nice server, but didn't get silverware or napkins for a while (even after receiving our food) despite me asking a couple workers as they passed by. Our server got most of our order right. All in all, it's not a bad place. I enjoyed a little bit of my wife's dish even though some of it was burnt. Definitely not worth what they're charging.

Gary Carouthers

Connie at the bar is excellent and the food was really good...

David Sivils

very good! will definitely go back.

Charles Boyle

Excellent salsa/chips, tableside guac and I had the Nashville Hot Chicken tacos which were phenomenal (and spicy hot!!). Other good queso/be an dips were great apps too.

Jacob Halm

Sopapilla's is one of my favorite places to get a bite to eat in Franklin. This is definitely not your normal "Mexican" food restaurant, but that is not a bad thing at all! I would say the food is Mexican inspired, but it brings a modern flair. Everything I have had from there has been phenomenal, the service has always been great, and the prices are more than fair. I highly recommend Sopapilla's!

Marta Castillo

We went for the first for lunch and it took 15 minutes for a server to come over to us. Then another 45 minutes to an hour for our food. Our server was great when they finally got us one! Her name was Vanessa. She was super nice. Food was not that great it was cold coming to us. My husband refuses to go back for another chance.

Jim Scantlin

We really enjoy our time here. We dined here for the first time when we moved to Nashville a few years back. It's hidden in plain sight and we try to get down here when we're in Franklin. We're bar people so we are usually eating at the bar. They have a nice area outside.

Vafa Homayoon

Every time I come here whether it's for dinner, lunch or Sunday brunch... The food is incredible in the service extremely hospitable. I have a three and a half year old that can get kind of crazy and he is met with smiles and open arms. If you haven't tried this place, you are missing out!

Anna Leverence

Great place for Sunday brunch! Unlimited mimosas and a great selection of food. The prime rib was so good along with the hash browns. Can’t wait to come back! Great service too by Andy! Thank you!

Christany Vigil

We are local to Franklin and we love this place! My boyfriends family was in town and they are from New Mexico. So we thought it would be cool to take them there since we love it so much. His grandpa is on an oxygen machine and has to be …

Angela Pacheco

This is a go-to for a solid meal where you know what to expect. While the chips are not the best in town, the dips they have usually make up for them, try the kale queso. I am a fan of the enchiladas and tacos which can come with bibb lettuce if you want to avoid flour and/or corn. The skinny margaritas hits the spot and is a nice change from the sugary margaritas you find most places. They have a great patio for outdoor dining in small or large group. Do not leave without actually getting a sopapilla as they are hard to come by in Nashville, and extra honey will make it extra worth it.

Daniel Clark

We had a large party that we had made reservations for, we knew they were going to split us up, but did not realize they were putting us on opposite sides of the restaurant. Service was ok, glasses stayed empty way too long. Food was good, typical for this style of restaurant.

Rose Chambers

I had looked online about the buffet brunch. Turns out they haven’t change the menu online so it’s completely different once you get inside. This Sunday brunch buffet consists of eggs and pancakes. THATS IT. I could’ve gone to a hotel and got the same service but for free...

Juliette Alex

Great service and such unique and delicious food!

Asif Dewji

Best authentic Mexican food out there. Tried a number of dishes and each was fantastic. Also extremely supportive staff and management to those with allergies, a service which is often hard to find.

Jim Stocker

Easily 5 stars. This is not another cookie cutter restaurant. The food is fantastic and about as authentic as it gets north of the border.

Jon-Mark Davey

Nice restaurant. We were there for Sunday lunch and the food was tasty. Burger was good, fries were real and good, shrimp was good, price was ok too. If you live local them this is a must at least once. If you are a visitor and not wanting to eat in Old Town then you will probably enjoy stopping here.

Rita Young

The dining space might be a little too cramped. The food was delicious - had the fajitas. Pretty good margaritas!

Leigh Ann P

Food and drinks were very good, as were the decor and ambiance. Mediocre, unfriendly service was disappointing, however, so we may not return.

CINDY SMITH

Great food- authentic New Mexican! Large portions- friendly, helpful wait staff.

Manny Barriger

I enjoyed and service tremendously. As I travel a lot for business this was a very nice place to have dinner.

William Vablais

I dont know what happened between march, the last time we went there and oct but it was truly disappointing. The place was not packed yet there were at least 5 servers standing around, all of whom saw us come in and carried on chatting …

Marlo Goff

We recently moved from Colorado and desperately miss our green chili... then we found Sopapilla’s! The pork stuffed sopapillas was a little taste of home. And their breakfast buffet on the weekend is fantastic, with lots of selections, including a dessert bar!

Russell Russell

Great food and service. Being from New Mexico it is nice to find a restaurant that understands the food.

Hank Gardner

Ok. That's it. Service was good. Nothing special. Was better when 1st open, seems like cutting cost.

Jeannie Chesling

Outdoor sitting, Friendly staff Variety of menu selections Tasty hot and delicious fajitas Glad we came here.

Gordon Watson

We ordered a large takeout for a wedding buffet. On hearing it was a special occasion the manager waived the extra catering fee and provided us extra chips. The food was great too.

Fran Abbagnaro

Great server. Connie. Great Happy Hour Love the food and wine.

Onaly Bright

This place *USED* to be great. When it first opened the chips were always nice and crisp, never greasy, the queso was Spicey and given in a large portion- oh and the big one- The Sopapilla’s used to be free at the end. I visited this past Tuesday night with my mom. We both ordered a chicken burrito which is currently no longer on the menu but was made for us anyway. The burrito only had chicken in it- no onions or peppers or anything. It came with just the slightest amount of queso on top and a very small portion of rice on the side. I ate half of mine and took the rest home. The next day, after cutting into my burrito I found a HUGE blueish green spot in the chicken. It smelled like mold. Disgusting. Wish I had eaten that end at the restaurant. As for the service, we had a particularly uninterested young man as our waiter. He wasn’t nice and didn’t have any suggestions. It’s a fine place. It used to be so much better. At this point I’d probably rather have chuys

Catherine Midgette

We went for an after dinner cocktail, we ordered the vanilla pear martini ( I had it before and it was delicious!). The bartender neglected to inform us that there was no fresh pear juice available. Our vanilla pear martini was not good it was awful and when we asked the bartender told us there was no pear juice but we could have some cranberry juice. We went for the vanilla pear martini not what we ended up with and could hardly drink. So disappointed.

Brad Hamblen

Great tacos. The queso was delicious.

Alicia Hall

This was a very nice place to visit. My family and I were in town for the day only and wanted good Mexican food. Luckily it was Sunday and they offered brunch. The fam had the brunch buffet and I ordered a steak fajita salad. The food was top notch! Very high quality. We will definitely visit again. The only reason for only 4 stars was slow table service.

Don Hale

Best Mexican Restaurant around!!! Great food, great service and friendly people!!!! The Sopapillas are worth the trip!!!!

Joe Dean

The service was decent with a nice waitress although slow at times. The food was presented well and tasted like the typical “Tex-mex” cuisine The company policy was terrible: - 20% added to every meal/bill as a “company standard” - told by 3 workers, one of which stated she was the owner, “we do not deal in change” After paying with $100.00 cash on a $50.83 bill (after 20% gratuity was added) they returned change of $49.00 - Eventhough I disapprove of charging customers gratuity, I gave the waitress $5.00 extra for being sweet and timely. Employees should not have to be punished for their owner’s shortcomings especially shorting change because they think they can choose to “not deal in change”

Beth Ellis

Absolutely loved it. The salsa wasn't fantastic, but the food was great as was the atmosphere. We had good service and we all had a great time.

Daniel

Overall, we had a great brunch experience. Food was tasty, we had friendly service, and the overall vibe of the place was inviting and just somewhere nice to spend an hour grabbing a bite. The reason I only gave it 4 out of 5 stars though (and the reason I’m writing this review), is that they changed the brunch buffet since last time we had eaten there. Granted, it’s been a good while since our last visit (so maybe it’s been like this for awhile), but previously they had a big buffet complete with a taco bar. This visit I originally ordered the buffet again (expecting what we had in the past), but after being directed into the bar area and seeing the small table they had setup as the buffet, I ended up ordering off the menu instead. Again, the food I ordered was still really good (stuffed sopapillas), but the old buffet was fantastic! What happened?

Russ L

I only get to come here once a year. That said, for the past 5 years (ever since discovering the place) I have come here each chance I get. I love the staff, atmosphere, and menu. The food quality is excellent, and the salsa is the most authentic I've had since moving back from South Texas.

Jeff Davis

I had high hopes, a good menu with interesting items. The staff was friendly and drinks and meals came quickly. However, from a cost of meal compared to quality of meal perspective it left me wanting. If I pay twice as much for food I expect it to be twice as good.

sandra smotherman

Great atmosphere. Good food. Will definitely go again

Barbara Williams

Good food and drinks

Holly Wilcox

Food was good; however, the enchiladas were too hot (spicey). Peobably won't return.

Sarah H

I had the original taco and the shrimp taco. Solid choices, the rice lacked a bit in flavor but was balanced by the rest of the meal. Great service and our party of 5 didn't have a problem getting a table on Saturday night. Their table salsa is really good and has a kick. Their queso is probably the best I've had this far north. My husband's quesadilla del Mar was also tasty.

Cameron Shea

Definitely worth the trip. Some of the best salsa I have had in this part of the states, full of flavor. The sopapillas were all delicious, and the carnitas were very very good. The tamales were also excellent, and I highly recommend the green chile one. The service was a little slow, but we weren't in a hurry and it was worth it for the food. Knowledgeable and helpful waiter. Good prices. Go, you won't regret it. It isn't your standard mexican fair, it is better!

Margie Dulin

Excellent. Presentation was beautiful. Taste unforgettable. Service impeccable.

Lisa Brewer

Incredible food !! Service and drinks !! What an incredible way to spend the first night of vacation !! Thank you for the over the top food and atmosphere !!

Rebekah Hosse

I like it! Thursday night is ladies' night. Love the Street Tacos. Nice ambiance. Friendly service! Always room at the bar!!!

Brian Shocklee

Great food and excellent service. Best chips and salsa in town.

Frances Sachse

Wonderful tomales. Tacos yummy. Steak fajita was over cooked. All in all great place.

Val Doolittle

Always wonderful hosts and servers and delicious food!

brenda boyd

Slow rude service. Food not great. Tables were dirty. Floor dirty.

Gary Sexton

No one is friendly at all. I will never eat here again after 4 different waiters I had to order my drink twice. Then after that 15 min of waiting for even a water they messed up my food order with no apology’s and treated like it was my fault. Then I was brought my bill while I was still eating my meal. Really? This place is terrible spend your money elsewhere.

Debra W

Southwest pseudo gastropub and disappointing at best. Music playing when we arrived was rap and the only thing potentially Mexican was the chips and salsa. It’s hard to believe that this place was voted best Mexican restaurant in Nashville …

Steve Clark

Absolutely love this place! Second visit to Sopapilla's, and each time has been exceptional! Authentic Mexican, and fresh Tennessee ingredients!

Bruce Gates

Great food, great location. Had the Tres Tamales which were incredible.

Deborah Buma

This restaurant is supremely elegant, yet is relaxed and comfortable. All the dishes were served with beautiful presentation and did not disappoint for taste. Ahi tuna salad was prepared exceptionally well, nicely blackened yet cool in middle and fresh greens were crisp and flavorful. A bit of heat was noticeable in slaw, so be prepared!. Save a little room for dessert because the sopapilla are delightful. Try this treasure next time you are in the mood for delicious Mexican food with an upscale flair.

Joseph Ramirez, Mr. Z

Wife is from New Mexico. The beans and chicken were somewhat close. Hot sauce was on spot. The rest were upscale or "Americanized" as one staff mentioned. But wait time was appropriate and very friendly staff.

K WILLIAMS

Seems like food quality has dropped off. Server was rushed but friendly.

Cruise addiction's

very good guacamole very good service but I am not shredded beef kind of guy I was hoping for ground beef tacos like you get everywhere else my wife love the salad nice place I just don't like shredded beef tacos I wish she would have told me that when I asked

Ambuj Agarwal

This place has improved significantly in quality. It has become an enjoyable dining experience now

Miranda Paschall

Wonderful service, delicious food. Upscale Mexican restaurant. We will be eating here again.

Damon Ballard

Very good Sunday brunch!

Lauren Hull

Everything is delicious!

Aaron Tait

Quaint spot for some Mexican inspired dishes and cocktails in Franklin. Great food and staff, will return upon return.

FLOYD T

Best tex mex

Thom Wilson

Way overpriced for mediocre tasting food.

Dwight Kiser

Unremarkable service....takes forever to deliver food.

Johan Colon

This hidden gem is an awesome New Mexico-inspired restaurant. They've got a wide variety of sauces, all made from scratch every day. The corn tortillas are also made from scratch daily so I would get those with your entree. And of course, the margaritas are to die for!

Steven Dycus

This upscale Mexican restaurant is located in a mixed planned development with single family homes, condos, shops, offices, retail etc. that faces a busy North-South thoroughfare (US 31) in Franklin near the Brentwood City limits. The growing complex is now seeing an uptick in additional new office and professional services construction all around the campus. This coupled with a significant roadway improvement with additional lanes on Franklin Road between this complex and Brentwood will bring even more eyeballs to Sopapilla's. Not that they need more eyeballs....the place always seems packed to me, especially during peak times. Parking for this venue can be a challenge. I'm assumimng that with the office expansions nearby, the parking lots will expand as well. This venue has two major indoor seating areas, allowing for small groups tot get a little more privacy. There is also a pretty robust outdoor patio seating area with outdoor heaters for the cooler days and nights. The food selection is very expansive. My favorite dish includes shrimp and the mix of filling along with the sauce makes for a very tasty entree. First timers should ask for the triple dip sauces for the nacho chips...great starter dish. This place has a full service bar. and is handicap friendly. Great place to meet your friends after work.

Greg Mealer

Amazing food and service. Love the outdoor patio and will be back

Yuvaraj Sampath

I like the outdoor seating for a relaxing evening of margarita.. food and drinks are good but not a great place if you are trying to eat some best Mexican food. Service is very good..

Janet Carmichael

Unfortunately as what happens with many restaurants, they have good traction in the community and then get lazy about the details. Set aside the high price that I paid for the lobster tacos only to experience some real bland eating. But back to the high price! You weren't allowed to mix and match the lobster nor tuna tacos with the explanation being that because they had to make a whole lobster tail, they wanted you to get three. I understood that but when the tacos arrived with .5 of an ounce of meat per taco, I was left just mainly insulted. I ordered a side of vegetables and here is where the restaurant got beyond lazy. The asparagus was not cleaned such that about two inches of white appeared on the end. The vegetable was so old that the tips were dried and shriveled. Perhaps all the energy is now going to the new burger joint they opened next door but based on the sloppiness of the food with this experience, I don't see myself even giving the burger a try. Too many good food options in Nashville now to bother with this joint.

Priya Clark

We used to go all of the time to this place and it’s been about two years since I’ve been. I don’t know if they got new management or what but we found a hair in our chips, and our food was cold and flavorless. On top of that the manager treated us as if we were the problem, and not the food. I would not recommend going here :(

Flying Lemur

I like the idea of this place. The menu is interesting and balanced. It’s definitely a step above your average Mexican restaurant. The staff is good too, our waiter was pretty good and the hostess, despite being a little light on hostess ninja skills, was friendly enough and helpful. Something is up in the kitchen though. We could tell that our entrees were under a heat lamp too long. My burger, which is something I rarely order even at TGIF Friday’s, looked extra great on the menu but undercooked on the plate. Fix the kitchen, And I’ll be back. Maybe call Chef Ramsey.

Denise Fraelich

Food, Undercooked. Waitress not attentive. Party of 5. After all that, had a piece of plastic in my meal. Manager did apologize, which I appreciated , they comped the meal. But I still got a bill for a 3$ iced tea. I mean seriously? Won’t go back.

Gary Lancaster

This used to by my spot... No longer living in the Cool Springs area I don't get here too often. Super excited to get back here last month, only to be disappointed. First of all, hostess skipped over us by three guests because they didn't give us a buzzer. Second, the salsa went from what used to be flavorful and hot to a more bland and mild salsa. Dinner plates were small for the price and most importantly NO MORE FREE SOAPAILLA'S!!! Wasn't worth the trip to Cool Springs.

Scott Halpern

FINALLY ! - The 4 horseman of the restaurant apocalypse, inconsistency, turnover, flavorless and complacency have left Sopapilla's in Franklin. We have gone there ever since opening several years ago. Then someone lost their mind, changed general mangers more times than Trump changes his inner staff and destroyed the food. It was horrible ! Could not eat it ! So, we decided to stop going and drive downtown to Nada. Well, two weeks ago we were in the area and wanted to have a drink at the bar, figured that not even lack of management, cooking skills or taste could F Up a cold Modello Especial and a shot of Don Julio. While at the bar, we noticed that the place was FULL -WTF -FULL did all these patrons lose their taste buds at City House? Were they pretending the food was acceptable so their friends would think the food was acceptable, like at City House? Or - was there a catastrophic turn of events ? Everyone was laughing, carrying on conversations and complimenting the food ! ! So, we decided to have dinner and it was amazing! I asked the hostess and she said that hey had brought back their original kitchen team, changed the menu and put in preventative measure to insure the original Sopapilla's was back for good! Still-----------no where near as good as Mas Tacos Por Favor but a lot closer to Brentwood.

D G

I went here for Sunday brunch at 11am and the place was filled. The wait staff was kind and got us seated within 10 min for a party of 8. They had a wide selection of food from southern staples of biscuit and gravy to craving station of pork tenderloin. They had an omelette station and pancake one too. More then enough selection for old to young. Bonus: chocolate fondue waterfall!!!!

Wanona Fritz

Enjoyed outdoor seating. We all enjoyed our food. Great wait staff

Jeff Finley

We love this place.

angel stewart

This pace is outstanding. Wonderful margaritas too

Blake Howard

They have now opened a burger place as a side entrance. I walked in, and waited at the server station. Two employees were serving tables, one was behind the bar, and three were huddled around two girls at the bar. As I waited, one at the bar got called away and started cleaning, and the other two individually split off and brushed past me on their way to the Sopapilla’s side. Of the five on the floor, four made eye contact and ignored me. At that point I left.

Florence Lane-Smith

Yea, I wouldn't eat there. I worked there one day and I have pics of what the kitchens look like when I arrived. They have yet to pay me and the place smells. They have mice running around and the kitchen and cooler are disqusting. I did not go back!

Lorenzo Grajeda

Very good food. A different take on Mexican cuisine. Really enjoyed my meal here. If you want to take someone on a nice date i highly recommend this spot.

Anthony Peña

Great New Mexico cuisine. Only place in Middle TN to get New Mexico cuisine.a

Tommy Rocco

A group of four of us went there, and everything was so delicious that we all started sharing each other's plates. We all wanted to taste each other's food. I highly recommend this place to people who like Mexican Fusion food and also delicious buffets.

Nickolas Alexander

Pretty good food but service could have been better
