I ordered the southern spicy white bone in chicken. It was fantastic. My nose ran while eating but no crying LOL. I will try dark meat next time. I got Mac n cheese which was also good. Black eyed peas needed bacon flavor. Definitely recommend.

If you are looking for friendly, fresh service this place is the place to be! The flavor was perfect, not to spicy not to mild. I ordered the chicken tenders and shrimp, with lemon pepper hot flavor and my goodness. Oh and the Gouda mac is a must have and the fried okra was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.

Hands down the best chicken I’ve ever had! Everything was cooked to perfection. My husband got Scorge which was the perfect balance of absolutely delicious and spicy. I got Inferno— not for the faint of heart spice wise, but still amazingly delicious. Restaurant was clean and the staff was incredibly friendly. Next time we’re in Nashville, we’re coming back!

No idea how this place has 4.6 stars.. I regret coming here. Tables in the way of the walk way making it hard to get to the register and to leave the facility, decor not updated since the 80s, the menu is confusing and part of it is behind you, soda machine not maintained, ranch sauce tasted more like tarter sauce and wasn't fully white like ranch should be indicating that it either was partly tarter sauce or it was old, my chicken was so greasy I couldn't finish it because I started getting sick from the grease, the bread was soaked in grease as if they dunked it in a pool of grease. I squeezed the bread and it was like squeezing a soaked sponge. Grease poured off the bread. The fries are extremely bland, probably like the great value fries from walmart. Part of the chicken is hard where parts are not, but that doesn't even matter due to how greasy it is. The hot chicken seasoning was hard to enjoy because of the large amount of grease. Even without the grease, i dont think the seasoning was as good as other hot chicken places I've been to. It felt like the people who run that place have zero care for how it's ran. I wasn't even a big fan of prince's but I still found prince's to be a clear winner over this. Writing this review because I don't feel well after eating part of the meal. Edit: wasn't trying to be rude at all. I gave an honest opinion about my experience. This wasn't a personal attack towards anyone at all. I was honest about getting sick from this place. I almost threw up when I got home and couldn't eat anything till lunch the next day. There was too much grease. It was over powering. I've been to a few other hot chicken places and it wasn't that bad. I'm sorry if I came off as rude, but I was pretty upset about my experience and rightfully so, so I was extra honest about my personal feelings towards my visit. It's great that the establishment enjoys it, but this is my review as a customer. It helps to have criticism when it comes to looking for improvement. I'm okay with somewhat greasy foods but my body couldn't handle the grease I got here, and there is ZERO excuse for what I got in the photos I published here.

Friendly staff. You know this is a local spot because they know almost every single customer that walks in. Their menu is pretty extensive too, but don't get scared! You can't order anything wrong because it always comes out right. If you like sweet and savory, then definitely go for the chicken and waffles, which has rotating flavors (so make sure to check out their white board!). Or you can always go for their wings, which are HUGE! So come in with an appetite!

Honest opinion? One of the best, local non tourist hot chicken places. It's a regular hot chicken place that is perfect for the service and food. Plenty of heat levels to choose from. I have nothing aganist other hot chicken places, I just like local hole in the wall type places.

Nice restaurant with Nashville chicken themed down home decor. The food is great. I had the 2 piece catfish with Inferno heat and it was indeed a "slow burn". The potato salad was fresh and delicious and the black-eyed peas were seasoned nicely. Will definitely recommend.

This was a religious pilgrimage. I'm form Florida and I have wanted to try hot chicken for so long. Slow Burn Hot Chicken exceeded my expectations. I got six of their "slow burn" level chicken tenders w/ fried okra and sweet tea. All the spices hitting my nose when I opened up that box was magical. I knew at that moment I picked the right spice level, which is the middle of the road heat level. That brings me to another bit of information. Their spiciest level is "The End" which I could only imagine is chicken cooked with a bear spray amount of spices. Hey, Slow Burn, can I order one chicken tender with level of spice?

You are sorely mistaken if you eat any other hot chicken. I had my friends from out town eat here after eating Hattie B’s so they could try the real thing and not some tourist trap nonsense. This is where the best sides are at. The chicken is hot and juicy just the way it should be. Doesn’t get better than the family run hot chicken spot making your food to order. It’s always good

Great Nashville Hot Chicken and worthy of the reference. Perfect heat with a great crunchy texture sealing in the flavor. Easily one of the top 10 best if not not 5 in Nashville. Fairly crowded with a small line telling you the word has gotten out. Round it off with simply delicious bake beans not overly dramatic and over dressed like some of the others. My meal 4 large tenders with 2 sides, a fair $. Cooked fresh and comes hot! Worth the small wait and worth a stop, try it, you won't be disappointed.

Hubby and I were so excited to try this place but the quality was not as good as the anticipation. It did take about 30 min as it is cooled to order, no biggie, just wish that was communicated instead of 20 minutes (we had somewhere to be in 40 min so we asked to make sure we had time. The chicken was the best thing about our meal. I loved that it was not heavily salted or very greasy. But still its not the best chicken I have had. It was like a B.The sides were so disappointing. The mac n cheese, WHAT WAS THAT??? It was the worst mac and cheese I have ever tasted in my life. The lady said they only had a little bit left, so I was hoping I would get like the edges because i assumed it was baked mac n cheese. NOPE - it looked like gross, expired soup with noodles in it. It was lukewarm, and it literally tasted like cardboard. I am not exaggerating. Seriously, take it off your menu if you cannot bake it cuz its worst than the mac at a buffet place. Hubby said Cabbage had no seasoning, and my collards were just ok. They weren't seasoned well at all, but I generally eat a low-sodium diet so it wasnt something I couldn't eat. Perhaps it was just a bad day. The workers were very friendly and I love chalk menus. But reading all the good reviews and seeing the breakfast makes me want to try again, so I will. I hope to not be disappointed.

I've had almost everybody's Nashville Hot at this point, and I absolutely had to try this for my Sunday gameday food. This is Madison's best hot chicken restaurant by far. SERVICE! Slow Burn has the best service and friendliest people. I cannot stress this enough. They are unbeaten in this department. The online ordering process is modern and easy. My food was ready when I arrived for pickup. Service was flawless and friendly. The tenders, medium, were a bit salty, but just the right spice and totally delicious. There's real depth in their recipe. Tots were crisp and warm, and the mac n cheese was good with pork undertones. There isn't much to complain about at Slow Burn. Parking out front is limited. Dining area looked modern, nice, and clean. Slow Burn is my new unexpected favorite Nashville Hot Chicken.

Slight wait on the food (approximately 15 minutes) but more than worth the wait. Extremely courteous staff, with everyone seeming to be in a genuinely good mood. Have many selections as far as heat level for the chicken, from just lightly seasoned to "why did I do this to myself". Portions are extremely generous for what you pay. 10 dollars bought enough food for my lunch and leftovers for dinner. Food was extremely flavorful with a nice kick of heat for afterwards. Would definitely come back whenever I have the opportunity. Was advised to try the place after visiting the Yazoo brewery close by. If you're in the area, definitely stop by for a bite to eat.

We have been going to Slow Burn for awhile now. The people are always nice and polite. The last 2 times we have ordered online and gone to pick it up haven’t been the best. The first time we asked for ranch when we ordered and got home and only got 1 small container of ranch per meal when usually they give 2 per meal. Not a big deal we still loved this place. The second time we ordered online again and again asked for ranch and got home and realized they didn’t give us any at all. 4 meals at $10.99 and no ranch. Then again today, we ordered online and see that they are now charging for ranch, $1.00 extra after we are paying $11.99 for these meals.. also, the quality of the food has gone down. This last time we ordered tenders, there were multiple bones in the tenders. They no longer package the food to go in the containers making the food soggy and not fresh. Also, you have to ask if you for pickles if you want them. Things have changed here and we don’t care for this place anymore.. if you are going to eat here, make sure you eat at the restaurant. Dont order to go. We hope Slow Burn goes back to the way it used to be.....

Our first time getting hot chicken and coming to Slow Burn. Maybe it's just this place but the chicken wasn't quite what we were thinking. The way it was cooked was nice: crispy on the outside, nice and moist and soft on the inside. The flavor wasn't the best but the heat was intense. It was a lot of food and kind if misleading with the quantities. Staff was friendly and helpful. We did go with our 1.5 y/o son who definitely enjoyed the non-hot chicken.

Busy Sunday Brunch, with a packed house, the staff was kind and helpful. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the waffles and portions were fantastic. I got the Chicken and Waffles breakfast for $11.50 while my daughter got the Mini Breakfast that was plenty of food for only $6. We ended up bringing lots of food home with us. Tender, crispy chicken w/a variety (10+) of spice levels. I like heat on the hotter end of the spectrum, but I prefer Singe (medium) or Slow Burn b/c it provides a good balance of flavor and heat which hits you right up front. The Mac & Chz was a bit dry and the banana pudding was just okay, but dont let that deter you. The Owner(s) and Staff are always friendly. On the weekends there is a nice selection of breakfast / brunch menu items and specialties. Tip: Best to order ahead online. Pls like if this was helpful.

Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior. This place offers world-class Nashville hot chicken (and delicious sides) all prepared and served by a super friendly staff. They'll make you feel at home and you won't leave hungry. You may not need to eat again for two days! So much food! The heat levels tend to run a little hot so pick one you want and then go down from there one or two.

We ordered our food in advance and it was ready right on time. We were pleased with the customer service. The place was not as clean as we would like it. It looks like it needs a deep cleaning but could at least use a good wipe down and sweeping. If we hadn’t driven so far and ordered in advance, I probably would have left because of the cleanliness of the restaurant. The chicken was perfectly cooked and delicious. The shrimp was also very good. The portions were very generous. The Mac and cheese was not good at all. It tastes generic. I had a high expectations since this is a black owned restaurant, but it was flavorless. We ordered two helpings and both took one bite each before tossing it. The okra was delicious, perfectly cooked, and a nice big helping. The potato salad was just alright. I ordered whiting fish and it did not taste or feel (texture) like whiting. It didn’t taste fresh, and tasted more like tilapia which I do not like at all and would never normally eat. I tossed it, and I am NOT one to waste food. Overall, it was an okay experience and if I’m ever in town again, I would definitely get some more of the fried chicken and shrimp TO GO.

Amazing flavorful food. The spice selection is extensive but let me warn you seekers of spicy. This isn't your regular ABC chain restaurant heat. The hot stuff here will make you a believer of multiple deities whichever one to sooth the heat. I was a naive fool I should have heed the warnings from the cashier as I ordered Purgatory. I'm writing this almost three hours later and while the burn has subsided in my oral cavity, the hellfire rages on through the GI tract. I will definitely be back but as a wiser humbled man. Heed the warnings.

My brother in law, nephew and I, stop by on our way home from Nashville. I tried the medium chicken and the other two tried The End. We learned something today if the cashier asks you if your sure about The End sauce and has a concerned look on her face, BE VERY CAREFUL, it's going to be very HOT! My brother in law said he has always been disappointed in other places hottest sauce, he said it's never hot enough but, he said, he was not disappointed in The End sauce it was more than HOT enough. Him and my nephew also said, they wouldn't ever get it again LOL. The food was very good and the portions were large. The staff was very nice. Will be back next time were in the area. The food was delicious. It was a bit of a wait but they make it fresh so i have no complaints. It was worth it. The people were nice and friendly as well. They'd check in on us to see how everything was.

Excellent food, but next time I'll get less heat. I was almost crying because it was too hot. Girlfriend for the rib tips and wings platter which was a lot of food for $10 bucks. Wings were amazing, tips were just great. The collards were excellent as well. As for my breakfast, I had the chicken and Gouda grits. I got an English muffin with that and I was kind of confused. The English muffin came out cold and it looked and tasted like instant grits were used. But you can't judge a book by its cover, right?... After one bite into the grits, I didn't care of they were instant or not... The mix of flavor was incredible, and for the right price too! Oh, and the sweet tea is excellent here too. I'll be back. Lost one star because the bathroom was dirty and the cold English muffin.

The food is awesome. The service was great. They really go out of there way to make sure you are happy. If you like spicy chicken then this is a definitely go to. The other chicken places don't have anything on this place.
