Chicken was good. Mild is spicy. I just don't understand how people could eat xx hot.Jezzuuusszzz No condiments on the side. Everything is charged. The waitress was nice and attentive. Food was served super fast.

I had to come visit the offshoot of the place that started Nashville hot chicken. It's kinda dimly lit when you walk in. Order at the counter and I got a quarter thigh and drumstick, and it came on white bread with pickles. It was good and it was appropriately hot! I'd recommend Prince's hot chicken. I think there's another location in SoBro that's more convenient, so I'll try that next.

Customer service - 2/5 Also, their main meals don't come with sides or condiments like ranch. Want a side like fries with your main dish? Extra $. Want a ranch sauce packet? $1 per packet(you get none to start with). Drink not included either. The food itself isn't bad. You just have to be able to handle a heavy amount of grease.. Which is great for some. There are thousands that love it. This is my personal opinion. The cashiers act like a robot who hates its life and could care less about your presence. They'll ask if you're ready to order 4 times while you look at the menu, and stare at you till you order even if you're 15ft away from the register. Honestly there's a few other hot chicken places that I prefer over this. I felt like I could've gotten better food elsewhere in the same neighborhood as prince's and feel a little let down. It all comes to personal preference though. Like I said I know there are plenty of people who love prince's.

I've been hearing about Nashville's Hot Chicken for awhile so while traveling on I-40 Joan and I had to give it a try. Prince's hot chicken shack south came up in our search so we that's where we went. They have inside and outside seating. The tables are first come, first served. But first you have to place your order at the counter. The staff were nice and the menu is simple. You got your whole, half, quarter chicken dinners or your choice of wings or tenders. They have pop, tea and beer, bottle or draft. I got the half and Joan got the quarter. I got hot and Joan got mild. The hot was hot enough for me. Just enough heat to make my eyes run but not so much I couldn't enjoy it. I got the beans which were sweet and good but should have picked coleslaw to temper the spices a little. Joan and I both felt like honey would be really good on the hot chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The next time I travel this way I will stop here to eat.

Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack ....If you are a out of town guest,,, go to the counter to place your order. Don’t wait to be seated! Seat yourself... Prince’s Hot Chicken loved the Atmosphere pretty cool! This place stayed very busy, that’s when you know that the food is good!!!! My husband and I suggest don’t go over the Hot flavor... Actually mild was pretty hot for me. The chicken was so good from the little bit that I tasted, I couldn’t enjoy it because it was too hot.... Princes chicken is amazing. I wish they would have told us more about there flavors or had a chart of the heat levels.... Plain flavored would’ve worked for me... Great place great food just be Cautious of the flavors!!!!!!

Food was so salty it was hard to enjoy. Ranch dressing costs $1 and comes in a pouch, so if your kids want to dip their chicken, it's not ideal. Vibe was cool, and service was friendly.

Although I do miss the original which was really a dive. This place of more upscale now but the food is still hot hot hot. Check them out when you're in Nashville you have to try it. Just remember their mild is everyone else's hot.

Original Nashville hot fried chicken. Friendly staff and the chicken was good. I have high spice tolerance compared to average Americans and I ordered the Hot one, which has herbanero. Wasn't unbearable, but I couldn't have handled of it were any hotter.

The experience was horrible. And this was on Tuesday night at 915pm. We were told it would be a10 to 15 minutes way. it turned out to be close to 35 minutes. Oh and this was take out, for a quarter leg piece of chicken. This was also or first time coming with friends from out of town. Again we order 1 quarter leg and after a 30 minute wait we asked how much longer it would be. the cashier said another 15 minutes. I just asked for my money back.

Waited over 40mins for a 4 piece tender with no sides to go. I just left after 45mins. This was at 2pm on a Thursday. I saw 3 orders come out the kitchen that the runner couldn’t find the number too or no one claimed. I made 4.

I thought I was a big girl and I found out not so much. I can't even do the mild cause it felt like hot . So this is not for the faint this chicken is hot. The atmosphere is great like a sports bar lots of people lots to eat and drink. Enjoy and bring a fan for your tongue.

Visiting from Texas. Saw all the positive feedback about this being the original Nashville Hot Chicken but quite disappointed. The staff was not friendly or welcoming. It was incredibly dark inside and they charge extra for a side of ranch with your order. Counter ordering is a slow process since they only have two cash registers. The chicken is overly hot to a point it is inedible. Would not recommend and would not come again. Hattie B's is a must tho!

Original. Awesome. It may be out of the way for some (like me) but I'm glad I made the trip and I'll be back. I had medium and it was slightly hot but very tasty. I like spicy with real flavor and character. There is a sweetness in the breading that makes it work. Try it!

Before coming here , you may want to consider training for hot food first. Even the mild chicken here can be spicy in comparison to other places. The dacor looks much better than the original place that no longer is open. Gone are the days of having to wait an hour in line for your food as you had to it the original location.

Son and I stopped in for a late dinner takeout. I ordered the hot and he got the medium. Back at our hotel we were cracking up as we couldn't distinguish the difference between the two. Both tasted fantastic as we sweated and cleared our sinus'. We will be making a special stop here next time we head south, only I'll get the mild and he'll get the plain.

The one that started the entire Nashville hot chicken craze across the country did not disappoint yet again. We went there 2 days in a row and it was perfect, consistent and delicious both times. The bird it very tender and juicy while the skin is crunchy and delicious. They are definitely the best in town, there are plenty of imitators around (no need to name them, we all know who they are) but no one comes close (except maybe for Moore's). I had the hot the first day and the X-hot the second. I will be giving the xx-hot a try on the way back home in couple of days

Potato salad is great, mustard-y but creamy, and helps cool your mouth from the spices. I always go for the Medium tenders--the perfect heat for a little kick that won't destroy you later. Dipped in ranch = perfection! Patio area is nice, be prepared to wait on busy nights. Chicken is always tender and the spice is complex, not just "hot," like some lesser places in town. This is the must-have if you're visiting, and a weekly dinner if you're a local. Respect to the originals!

I would never recommend going here. This was my first time “attempting” to eat at this restaurant. We ordered our food and waited approx 40 min with no food. I asked for our money back then was told they have to check the status first. The cashier goes to the back and still returns with no food. She gives our money back but not the tip that was included. We asked for the tip as well and the cashier got an attitude. I’m still trying to figure out what was I tipping for. Definitely will not go back unless they figure out how to actually handle business professionally.

Absolutely delicious! Hot is hot, X-Hot is somewhat spicy, XX-Hot is rht the real deal! Drove down from Pittsburgh to enjoy Nashville but mostly for the Prince's Hot Chicken. Too bad the "north" store is closed, that place was special, however, the "South" store is awesome too!

I've been on a hunt to try all the hit chicken in Nashville. I will say, I typically cant handle some spice but I got the mild chicken tenders and I could barely eat them. They spice was too intense. The tenders had flavor though but I warn you the heat levels are way more intense then the other places around

One of the best hot chicken places I’ve visited and I’ve been to A LOT. Amazing range of spices that’ll clear your sinuses and get ya sweating no matter what your limits are. Personally I’ve found medium heat is the key to a good time for me. I recommend getting a strip at different heat levels your first time like I did to find your limits. Excellently seasoned fries, reasonable prices, quick service, amazing chicken, and a piece of chicken history earned this spot all 5 stars today.

Soooo I was visiting from Indiana and had heard so much about this place that my friends and I gave it a try. Absolutely not! 30 min wait for a to go order. Customer service was non existent and the food tasted as if everything had been dredged in table salt, cooked, then served. Absolutely not I say again! No combo meal is offered. Everything is separate. Including a side of pickles or ranch sauce and for the prices they charge, I don't think I'll be back. Waay overrated. We had plain wings with fries (about 10 bucks, no drink) and a salad which is one of the 2 cheapest menu items. The other is an order of 3 wings both priced at 6 bucks. The dressing is packaged and nasty to me. Maybe it's a southern taste that I just can't tolerate.

They food is exceptional, the service however is deplorable, when there busy I can see it, although going when they were not should have been better. The menu is confusing, so be sure to clarify if combo or not. The best and the original hot chicken, anywhere.

Great food, super hot once you add an X to the spicy level. I'd stick with 'hot' and ask for 'x hot or xx hot' only if you're willing to suffer the consequences of your choices. Hot is still having a good time, and anything higher is asking for trouble. Parking is often packed, so maybe you'll luck out around dinner time. Enjoy the food!

Everything you can hope for in Nashville hot chicken! It was amazing! Fast service, flavorful chicken, and great texture. It was deliciously greasy on bred with pickles (the original way) and perfect freshness. I had the hottest spice, and definitely was exciting eating! Highly recommend this original spot, even if it's a drive! Just count on a wait if it's a usual meal time.

I ordered the leg quarter in "hot" with slaw and mac and cheese. The chicken was very tender and fell off the bone. Spice wasn't overpowering and didn't linger long. Sides tasted good. Went for lunch around 1145 and didn't have to wait at all.

First time trying some hot chicken, and it was pretty good. I had the 3 piece wing, and the wings were huge! I could barely finish them. I had the medium heat flavoring, and it had a little kick to it. One thing i will say is that their baked beans are to die for. I had to order another batch before leaving, and they were only 2.50. The bowl seems small, but it’s quite filling! The chicken was a little too greasy for my liking, but the flavor was good. Order ahead of time if you’re hungry, because there can be a little wait time.

The wait is long but it is totally worth it. But if you think you can just eat spicy food, then order medium level. It is not your typical medium hot you think. It is like extreme hot for your everyday restaurants. If you think you always order something spicy, but it is not spicy at all when everybody says it is burning their stomach, then order something hotter than medium....

I am not a big fan of spicy but my wife is, and since we were in Nashville we had to try the legendary hot chicken. I ordered the mild, not knowing what to expect. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the sauce wasn't overpowering but still had a good bite to it. I will say the customer service leaves a lot to be desired but the food was on point.

I am always on the hunt for good fried chicken especially when visiting the south and Prince's was recommended as the place to go (or one of the many places to go). Myself and two friends visited this establishment and honestly loved it but felt like death after eating the chicken which was HOT AS HELL. Despite this, the chicken was amazing and I would definitely re-visit this place when I return to Nashville. I got the mild chicken fingers which were perfect as well as one medium one to see how spicy it was and it almost killed me haha. My friend ordered the hot chicken fingers and cried as he ate them. He couldn't finish them because they were so hot. Next time I visit this place I am sticking to the mild fingers (no medium for me). I would give this place a 5 star but I am giving it a 4 star just because they charge you extra for ranch as a dip (should be free IMO) and because the fries could be improved on. Overall, I had a pleasant hot chicken tasting experience!

I ordered the half chicken, hot, with fries and baked beans. The fries were thick crinkles and heavily seasoned. Very tasty, and good to cut the heat of the chicken with. The beans were really sweet, and I can only imagine how much brown sugar went into their making. The star was the chicken, as it should be. The half bird was deliciously crispy, with a thick almost gritty/oily coating of spice. The breast section plump and juicy, and the white bread the chicken was served on did a great job of sopping up the oily goodness. My fingers and lips were tingling and nose was running, but I found the spice level quite manageable. If you're used to the spices used in Asian foods or decent quality hot sauces then this shouldn't be too much of a challenge. It's worth a stop!

I had the chicken tenders at a medium level and they were GOOOD!!! I do not recommend the hot or above unless you have a cast iron stomach. Chicken was tasty and juicy...cant ask for better.

when someone says nashville hot chicken they can only be talking about this place solely. having gone to all the other chicken joints nashville has to offer it is abundantly clear that they are all second fiddle to Prince's. the flavor hits you the very first bite and is like no other and impossible to explain. the best way is to go and try it for yourself if in fact you have never experienced it. anyone who visits nashville and says they have had hot chicken cannot honestly say this without having gone to Prince's. i will suggest going with medium at first (you can always go back and get the hotter) as hot is hot and the rest only hotter. GO!! ENJOY!!

Not the original location, but still amazing. Restaurant is clean and employees are friendly and above all, it's the original Nashville Hot Chicken recipe. Absolutely delicious, I just wish they had better sides. However you don't come here for the sides, you come here for the hot chicken. Definitely a must if you're on a hot chicken journey

Nashville native here who's been eating the best and original soul hot chicken in the City for years. Original style hot on white bread with pickles the only way to go. Amazing flavor, moist and great service too. Yes, it can be a drive for some, parking might be a challenge and it might be busy, SO WHAT! Great food can come with easily addressed challenges. Soul food isn't corporate, remember that.

The BEST place for Nashville hot chicken. It doesn't get any better than Prince's, no competition. If you have never had it, start out slow - don't jump straight to hot or extra hot heats because they are HOT. I even left my purse in there on a Saturday night and they messaged me on Facebook and held it for me until Monday when they re-opened! Customer service doesn't get any better than that.

I ordered hot chicken tenders. Honestly, I think it's the best fried chicken I've ever had, even without the skin. They managed to couple complex flavors with slow growing heat. I was in tears by the end, but it was absolutely worth it. The potato salad was a little too sweet for my taste, but it had a good texture and flavor.

My girlfriend and I came down from Pennsylvania over the last week and we ended up going to Prince's twice and each time was better than the last! I remembered a medium not being spicy enough last year so I decided to try an extra hot and oh my lord I think I saw God! It was so dang spicy, but the flavor still popped! The second time we went I downgraded to a regular hot and it was absolutely perfect. Every chance I get I tell everyone that when they visit nashville they need to try Prince's Hot Chicken! It is the best fried chicken I will ever have!

TL;DR - The price, flavor, and experience was fantastic. The juicy deets: I enjoy hot and spicy things so I got the X-hot. That was my first mistake: the flavor levels are for local taste buds. It was so hot I had sweat running down my forehead, tears running out of my eyes, and snot running out of my nose. My cheeks were literally tingling from the heat. It was not awesome but makes for a great story! Such a fun experience, we were laughing when we weren't crying. We went to McDonald's afterwards and it was the best chocolate milkshake I've ever had. Take your friends... Better yet take your enemies and order them a plate of the XX-hot and watch as their body cleanses them of the past 10 years of toxins.

Very friendly staff and smells amazing. Chicken was crispy and juicy. Fries were perfectly cooked but had alot of seasoning especially salt. Only it took 30 minutes to get 2 PC of chicken as they kept doing the to go orders first.

Not impressed. The customer service was not good. The lady behind the counter was picking her nose with a napkin while taking our order... The old man was the only one working everyone else just standing around with a smug look on their faces. The chicken was WAY TOO HOT even the mild.. We got mild and medium and could not even eat the medium and the mild was hardly bearable. The fries taste like wal mart bag fries. The day before we went to Haddie B's and I would choose them if I wanted hot chicken. Their mild is actually more mild and their fries are very good. Big difference in customer service as well. Prince's may have started it but Haddie B's refined it.

Hot hot hot hot! I only got the lowest level of heat and it was hot! The chicken is fantastic and flavorful. The portions are huge! Come hungry. They do eat in and take out. If you come around meal times it will be busy so be prepared to wait. But it’s all worth it!

This was my second time at the Nolensville rd location. I went back to see if what I thought was true and it was . The chicken taste like it’s par- boiled . It’s definitely not like the one that was on Ewing lane. Sometime you have to wait for perfection. Everything quick is not good . R.I.P. Princess Hot Chicken. So delicious. We got the "hot" Nashville Chicken and we will for sure be back. It was so spicy and perfect. Leftovers reheated perfectly. My brother got the mild and he said that was spicy too. If you don't like spice, approach with caution.

I've been ruined for any other chicken. The flavors were complex. Not just hot, but complex. I tried the medium and it was spicy but easy to eat. I would try the hot next time just to see the difference. The beans have pulled pork in them and are just as surprisingly delicious. We will go out of our way to come back.

My new obsession. I had Princes for the first time about two months ago on a visit to Nashville and can’t stop thinking about it since. It was my first experience eating Nashville chicken and it will be my last. They’ve got a new customer for life. The chicken was so legendary that I will never tarnish the memory by getting it anywhere else. Lucky for me we’re considering a move to TN. I really like spicy food and I got the medium spiced chicken and it was perfect. Guys, not kidding, I would choose this for my last meal. Please go.
