The only hot chicken Nashville needs. The food was beyond good. Medium is perfect for those that normally love hot. The young man at the counter was very helpful, he even gave me a sample when I was unsure on heat level, thanks Gabriel! Definitely be coming back whenever I visit Nashville.

Great Chicken, Great Portions! First visit to Nashville and the 2 things we had on our list was eat Nashville BBQ & Hot Chicken. We found a review for Martin's BBQ - total disappointment! 8pm and out of pork, spare ribs, sausage and chicken and paid 40.00 for 2 OK dinners and 2 cokes. Tonight tried Pepperfire Hot Chicken, a short drive from downtown. Portions were excellent (5 JUMBO chicken tenders plenty for 2). For the same price $40, we had WAY more than enough food + 2 large beers! Not bad! I like how they operate - all the workers hussle! LOVE THIS!!!!

The hot chicken was fantastic. I ordered the hottest on the menu, I want to say it was XX, and it was fantastic. It was reasonably hot. The sides were great as well. I got the okra and the mac and cheese. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Nashville. Service was great too. I'd highly recommend the place.

Pepperfire is one of my favorite places to eat in the country. It's by far the best Nashville style chicken place and makes passing through Nashville a treat. I highly recommend the Tender Royal. Be aware that this place does not play when it comes to spicy. I like hot food and this places puts me in my place. I can comfortably eat their hot, but anything over is too much for me. If you like normal type hotsauce I'd say go with their medium. But you should absolutely eat here if you like chicken and spicy food. Its a gem for sure

Great, traditional Nashville hot chicken. The heat is about on par with all the others in Nashville. The hottest level is almost unmanageable, but delicious. Try it if you can handle it. I'd put this place right along side Prince's, and slightly below Hattie B's. Would go again.

Delicious food! Had the chicken with spiced apples - great combo. Per the staff's recommendation we went with light mild and that was spicy enough while still being able to enjoy it (we are mediocre at dealing with spiced). Fried okra and Mac & cheese were great sides.

I got a couple local reccomendatations for where to get some Nashville hot chicken and one of those places mentioned was Pepperfire. Never having tried Hot Chicken before I wasn't sure what to expect but if Pepperfire is is any indication of what else is out there, I'm happy and like Nashville Hot Chicken. Pepprfire was very good. Tender and juicy but with just the right amount of heat. Yum!

Yep a 3.5 the food was good but not as good as others. The best was the mac and cheese hands down. The fries were ehhh not seasoned great at all some was wayyyyy over season and others were bear. The chicken was good just good nothing that wowed me the base chicken was bland yes yes the spice come once they add it after its cooked and that is what makes it just good i want great fried chicken and then do the spice to make it a great hot chicken that is why i give it a 3.5 yes go and try it it is good just not blow my mind good.

The restaurant smells great and the hot chicken was delicious. Medium spice was just about right. Some other reviews scared me off trying the hot, but I wish I had. Skip the fried grilled cheese; it didn't add anything to the experience.

In a city that's becoming overcrowded with hot chicken Pepperfire does a good job distinguishing themselves. The woman running the counter was fun, professional, and helpful. Their hot chicken almost tastes like it has some Indian spices in it which is a nice detour from the volcanic hot that other places shoot for. Medium spice was just right. I was also pleased with the sides (greens and fries) which were flavorful and delicious. They don't really have individual seating so be ready to shoulder up to some strangers as you eat your chicken.

Loved the chicken. It was just spicy enough (I got the hot breast quarter). The mac and cheese was delicious but the potato salad was closer to mash potato salad so I didn't enjoy it as much. Overall a great experience with great service and great food.

Place has great hot chicken. Unlike other spots in Nashville that cook the heat in, this place layers it on with their seasoning making for a completely different type of heat. Be warned, if the cook is feeling liberal with the seasoning, your heat level may be hotter than usual. Our whole crew sweated/teared up through the Medium Tenders which are what we usually get with no issue. Great place overall and definitely recommend if you're into the Nashville hot chicken craze.

This place is my new favorite for hot chicken. Y'all have to get the tender royal and definitely some cinnamon apples as one of your sides. There will probably be a long wait given it's a small restaurant that has amazing food so don't sweat that but you will sweat if you order a heat level too hot.

This is one of my favorite hot chicken places in Nashville. The levels of spiciness are roughly comparable to most other hot chicken joints in town. I think the side dishes could stand some improvement, and the seating area is small, but the chicken is solid, the staff is always very friendly, the place is clean, and the beer choices are alright.

Placed a call in order at about 8:30pm. Was told they closed at 9pm. Got the chicken tenders dinner with light mild heat with green chile Mac n cheese and baked apples. Arrived in time to get the order. It was cooked and ready to go. Also added an Honest sweet tea. The tenders were cooked to perfection and were tasty and delicious. The apples were also very good. I love Mac and cheese, but the green chile version was not what I expected, but it was a'ight. I have eaten here before and all in all...I will most definitely return! Sorry, no pics.

There's a lot of good Hot Chicken joints in Nashville and Pepperfire is one of the best. Quality chicken and sides, great service and a mellow vibe. Menu is simple and the line was short. Food came out quickly and was excellent. Their hot isnt as intense as others which is great if you're looking to be a little adventurous. Definitely recommend for anybody looking to give hot chicken a try for the first time and for those who know it well.

Not too bad, I would go again. The hotness was good but a definite taste of chili powder was a bit over bearing and took away from the flavor. Chicken was juicy though. And a bit pricey. Three chicken tender baskets (3 piece 2 sides) with drinks was over 48$ Expect 15$+tax per person for lunch.

I am what most people call a Hot Chicken aficionado, so i'm a big deal. With that being said, the chicken at Pepperfire was cooked very well. I hate to say it but the chicken was cooked better than prince's and Hattie B's. It was juicy and not overdone. I am a spicy boy so in terms of spice level I would say "eh" a bit on the mild side. If I can get through four extra hot tenders without needing a cup of water then we have a problem. However, the flavor was peppery and flavorful. Sides were pretty basic but prepared well. All in all I would say I am pleased and would definitely go back but if i want a nice hot spank to the tongue then i'm stopping at Prince's.

I ordered pepperfire for the first time today at work. I ordered the little spice tenders with apples and okra. I've never in my life had apples so spicy. The chicken was pretty much flavorless, it tasted like Cheyenne pepper. I wont be returning here. A big waste of money.

They were out of dark meat which is my fave so I got white meat instead and it was just as good as any dark meat I would’ve had. I got the hot, which was very hot and very tasty, what I like. Hotter than your normal “hot” spice level, but still great for me as someone who likes spicy. so order at your own risk. Spent the week basically just eating fried chicken/hot chicken on my last visit, and this was my favorite from the whole week. God bless Pepperfire! Hahaha

We loved it. We ate here twice during our visit to Nashville. We tried all of the side dishes as well the hot chicken from medium heat to Xhot. The Medium has a nice heat. The hot and Xhot are not for the faint of heart. I ate the Xhot, but couldn't eat the rest of the day. I'll stick with the hot. If you're unsure, order down. All of the sides are fantastic. Staff is nice and friendly.

Two things think could be improved was; the side selection to include more of a variety and some cold items as well, and to be able to "mix-and-match" spice levels. Can self order on a tablet which is awesome. Was pretty packed on memorial day for a late lunch. Atmosphere was chill and the seating consists of long rustic tables. Self pour soft drinks which is Coca Cola freestyle. To go containers and cups are handy which is great as well. Chicken is pretty damn good. Staff is nice & you get your food in about 10 mins. Believe it's made fresh to order. Great spot.

I loved this place when it first began. I tried it twice after the movie and I have just been disappointed. I did the 3 strikes your out thing by trying the oh so raved Apple Jack. Very disappointed again (3rd) time. I called to express some concerns letting them know the cheese, grease, or bread was old. Pretty sure it was the grease. But anyway they did nothing to make me wanna come back. SMH!!

This place is good eats. There is some debate with the locals as to which is the best (I believe there are 3 different ones to choose from that are popular) but this is the one we choose and it was good. The hot chicken comes in levels and I tried the medium. SWEET BABY JESUS they were pretty hot. I love spicy food, but I was not prepared for the “medium” level. Clearly, hot chicken medium is on a different scale than other food. We went on a food tour our last day that went back to this place (because God forbid we pick a different one) and I got the mild...which is still pretty hot. They have good sides to go with the chick too. Get a large drink because you’re going to need it.

Amazing absolutely amazing, came here to help my family move and have traveled around states and world and never have I ever had chicken cooked to perfection with the best seasonings for a small little restaurant. Coming from someone who lives the food industry life this chicken is hands down the best I have had. Keep it up guys and great work. Went again before leaving Tennessee and got the xxhot and regular hot. Let me tell you the hot is great it’s amazing all the flavors are amazing and not to spicy now the xxhot is hot very hot but taste great most places hot flavors taste nasty and aim for just being hot but pepper fire is the best hands down.

Ordered the Royal Tender, mild, with side of fried okra and green chili mac & cheese. Everything was great. Friend thought the fried grilled cheese was a bit much, but it was fine to me since everything was well fried, not greasy tasting at all. I'm not typically a chicken tenders person, preferring bone-in dark meat, but these very juicy chicken tenders were winners. Realistic heat levels too so for first timers, I'd recommend mild to get a baseline or whatever you normally get at Hattie B's, lower by one.

While visiting from Nebraska, we stopped in to try some Nashville Hot Chicken... The Manager and staff were extremely welcoming, sharing local information with us, and making us feel right at home. The chicken was PHENOMENAL, a term I don't throw around lightly. The restaurant is cozy, they have some amazing local brews on tap and all for the right peice... Got in and out in under $30, with the wife. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking to Spice up their life!

This is a fine example of Nashville’s local hangouts. Their hot chicken is awesome. It has good flavor and not all about the heat. Don’t get me wrong, you can absolutely be blasted with fire and heat, but you’ll get the flavor along with it. The sides are good as well. In the examples below, I had the fried okra and green chile mac mac-n-cheese. Also had the medium chicken tenders. Awesome.

The chicken was amazing, the sides were amazing! They should warn non pork eaters that there's ham in the collard greens, red potato salad needed salt, fries were awesome but got soggy quick, mac and cheese was awesome. Medium was my fave but mild and light mild were good too. Will definitely be going back to try hot.

First time ever trying Nashville Hot Chicken. Went with some friends (one in Nashville recommended) while attending NFL draft. I got the “Mild” as did one other friend, while the other got HOT! I’ll say this, I hope and pray the next time I’m in Nashville there isn’t a little old lady trying to get in there......I’d knock her down (not really, I’d hold the door) to get in there! The chicken was so good, we went back the next night! A southern man at heart, I thought I’d never get chicken again as good as my mamas after she passed....but I was wrong. Thanks Pepperfire! I only wish I could’ve brought my mama! The staff was great as well! The little blonde behind the counter and the little girl with the “poofy” hair kept us laughing and greeted us from the moment we walked in......Not a bad thing to say about the place. If you’re in Nashville, take my advice and try this joint! You won’t be disappointed...... as I drive back to Georgia, I miss it already and look forward to my next Nashville trip! Good food at a great price. My family's go-to when we have a taste for hot chicken. Consistent with quality. We have never had any mistakes in our orders or food not cooked well. We have been eating there for a few years not. Not over priced. No outrageously long wait. I always order ahead and it is ready or almost done when I arrive. I have never dinned in.

Chicken flavor is pretty good. However I won't visit again. Ordered and paid online through their website. Order wasn't ready at scheduled pick up time. Stood and waited for nearly 20 mins. I was then told it would be another 40 mins. They wouldn't give my money back at the store and I was informed that I had to do it through their website. Went home and sent an email through their website (which I shouldn't have had to do since I WAS AT THE STORE) asking for a refund. No one ever called or emailed me back. I had to call the store AGAIN to get a refund. No apologies - No care whatsoever. I don't care how great your food is, if you can't treat your customers well, then you lose my business. These days SERVICE means so much more...

My wife and I stopped in from out of town. First time at this restaurant and we had a great experience. Three iPads to take and customize your order, food was hot and delicious. They have chicken tenders, chicken on the bone, and chicken on top of grilled cheese. Love it. There was not a noticeable difference between Hot and Mild. Excellent flavor.

I used a ride service to take me out to Pepperfire from downtown Nashville on the advice of a friend. Holy heck this was worth the trip. I'm not a huge lover of insanely spicy food so I just tried the "hot" chicken and yes, it's hot but it's incredibly flavorful and tender as well. My friends has the mild and very mild and both were excellent as well. Pepperfire chicken is indeed a "must try" stop for anyone in Nashville looking.g for sending great fried chicken (even if you like it not so spicy).

Excellent chicken. Speaking as someone who isn’t great with spicy food (flaming hot Cheetos makes my tongue tingle) I would recommend the light mild. If you’re like me it will still have plenty of hotness but not too spicy to be unenjoyable. The staff was friendly and happy to help with recommendations. Overall a great place to visit.

Had a great hot chicken meal last night at Pepperfire. I had an adventure in the men's room, though. I put my drink on top of the paper towel dispenser while using the facilities. When the paper towels were being dispensed to me, the cover of the dispenser came open and my drink fell on the floor and a little bit spilled on me. It was very amusing, but I'm glad I didn't have a suit on.

Pretty average tasting food compared to the usual high flavor of Nashville. It wasn't bad by any means but I didn't feel like it was anything special. The coolest thing was the chicken tenders on a deep fried grilled cheese covered in baked apples, but somehow that was even just average despite the spectacle.

I deliver orders from here all the time (Uber eats) and decided I was going to try it today for the first time. I ordered mild tenders and fries for myself and my girlfriend. The chicken had a ton of seasoning and it didn’t taste good at all. We only ate it because we were hungry but we will not be returning.

Really good hot chicken. The flavor is darker than places like Hattie B’s, but I thought it was nice. The seating are two long row tables with small but heavy chairs. They are in a good location with good to go offerings. Highly recommend.

Overall a solid spot to grab Nashville hot chicken. Their spice-blend sometimes comes off as one-note, since it's mostly pepper based but chicken is always cooked well and portions are good. Only criticisms are an awkward dining room setup and wait times can be lengthy.

In my view, the best hot chicken spot in Nashville. Every time I’m in town I make sure to swing by here. The wait is sometimes long, but actually reasonable compared to other spots— but regardless the wait is worth it. I got the Light Mild leg quarter with Mac & Cheese + Apples. The chicken is amazing, they really do a great job at spicing and crisping the chicken to perfection while not losing the tenderness. The spice levels here are a bit hotter than normal— aka a Mild is a bit too much for me, but the light mild is just right. The sides are always great as well. It is tough to park here, but plenty of street parking nearby if lot is full. Definitely my go to hot chicken spot and will be back next time I’m in town as always!

Love spicy food! Best hot chicken in town. Casual setting, reasonable prices. Levels range from mild to extra extra hot. I got the hot, my husband got the medium, my brother got the extra hot, his girlfriend got the mild.The mild still had a little kick to it but definitely doable for the average eater. The hot was definitely HOT but still pleasant and doable for those that like spicy food. The extra hot will definitely make you sweat and the spice lingered for a little while. One tender down, second tender was rough, then he had to call it quits (5 tenders total). We saved the extras for the next day and they were still very hot but more bearable. Would highly recommend.

One of my favorite hot chicken stops. A little hotter than Hattie B's in the mid to hot range. Mac and cheese is an awesome side. Seating is two long tables in the middle and one long bar against the wall in case you dont want to have to look at anybody else while your eating your chicken. Have moved to tablet ordering system but a cashier is still available. Have some decent beers and a coke freestyle station.

Wait was long and it was very hot inside. It also smelled bad. The Chicken was hot but it wasn't that great. Pretty mediocre.

The food was awesome! One star off because parking is very limited--the place has gotten too popular. I went there for lunch. I had to find a parking spot down the nearby neighborhood street, which took a few minutes. When I arrived inside, it was busy, but I was able to place my order immediately, and find a seat easily. It took about 15 minutes to get my food--not too long considering the time of day. It is some of the best Nashville Hot chicken, for sure, but I was really impressed with the deep-fried grilled cheese sandwich. That thing was amazing!

The only complaint I would have was that the chicken was a little dry the day I went. The first time was amazing, but the second time just seemed to lack a bit of that juicy chicken bite I was looking for. Nonetheless, the red potato salad and apples were such a great combo that I will definitely return back on another day.

Very spicy, be prepared to order lower spice than you usually assume you could handle. We ordered medium and that was pretty damn hot. The Applejack is definitely the go to when ordering I would say, as it let's you try all the best parts of the restaurant. You get a fried grilled cheese, hot cinnamon apples, and fried chicken!

The only saving grace here was the outstanding service from the gentleman that took our order at the counter. The restaurant’s AC was clearly out as the temperature was 82 degrees inside and the food was poor. I ordered the tenders and they were luke warm. The seasoning was overpowering of chili powder and I had a hard time eating just one of them! Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

I was impressed by the portion size as the tenders were very large and we didn't leave hungry. However, the breading was STRONGLY chili-powder based, which totally overwhelmed the flavor and made the "crust" feel dry in your mouth. If the chicken was maybe a little less seasoned (it was almost caked on), it would have been a better experience. Loved the technology they added to make ordering more efficient.

This place was packed and it is clear why. This was the best Nashville hot chicken I've had. They really know how to fry! Everything was perfectly crispy! We shared a "medium" spice half chicken with a side of potato salad and fried okra. The chicken was so tasty and the perfect amount of spice, wonderfully crispy but not too greasy. The potato salad was delicious and the fried okra was the best I've tasted: crispy on the outside but soft, not mushy on the inside. Yum! I'll definitely return!

Delicious. I've never had hot chicken in Nashville, and had one chance to get it right. So I can't compare this to anything else, but I was not disappointed. The tenders and chicken quarters were excellent. We like spicy food and ordered medium, and it was fine. Just barely broke a sweat, and could still taste the food. The ocra, collards and mac were great too. The place was clean. Recommended.

It’s not Prince’s. Doesn’t have the bursting flavor and tender chicken of Prince’s. The inside is much nicer and is more of a modern hipster chicken joint than a total dive, and the tender royale was both tasty and creative, but it was not Prince’s. Tenders don’t come close to delivering the meal that dark meat quarters can. Coke Freestyle machine is a nice touch and the staff is really chill. Awesome fried okra.

Pretty sure this place got me completely sick. Not from the heat of the chicken--I eat super hot stuff all the time, but from some kind of sanitation issue. After eating here I was sick for about two days. This was my first venture into hot chicken, and it will be my last venture. If you're still feeling adventurous, they wait issues mentioned in other reviews are accurate. It did take a while for them to get food out of the kitchen. The heat in the food is legit. If you don't tolerate spice well, I'd recommend going with a milder than usual flavor/heat level. Though there was a homeless guy that came in and started telling our group "[eff] money, he just wants some food," I won't knock the location too much. Maybe this was all an one off, but I'm not going to roll the dice on seconds.

It can be busy at peak times and seating might be limited. However, in my experience, the wait time was actually shorter than initially anticipated by the staff. Now you're probably wondering- "how hot is their chicken?" As always, your palate will vary, but as a person who likes to regularly use hot sauce on food, I found their chicken rated just "Hot" to clear my sinuses without causing me to break out in a sweat. Now if you're curious about their spiciest option, I had a friend who is a self-stylized Scoville sadist try it, and he was able to mostly keep his composure albeit with a couple lapses in between. While hot, he also noted that they didn't substitute heat for flavor. Pro Tip: Remember to not rub your eyes after eating there. Same dude did a while later. Don't be that guy.

First time trying Nashville Hot Chicken! Can not believe the wait for your food! It is extremely long. Made the mistake of ordering an additional meal. Each meal took about 30 min to be fulfilled! Super hot inside the restaurant too. No fans. 3 ordering kiosks but 2 went down during my wait. The chicken and the sides were good though. Juicy chicken. The apples and mac n cheese were yummy.
