We had our son's rehearsal dinner on the 3rd floor and the food was amazing, the staff was perfect but the attention to detail is what floored me! Alexis helped me pick out the food options and calmed my nerves and Jonathan greeted us at the elevator knowing our names before he even met us. I wish we could go back and do it again. You will not be disappointed! Thank you so much for a night that will be remembered forever!

I took my sister to Merchants (first floor) last night for dinner. We were in Nashville for the weekend celebrating her birthday. We were seated right away. The manager, Ryan, was extremely friendly and went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. Our waitress, Bailey, was so kind and also very attentive. The tater tots were some of the best I’ve ever had. The Caesar salad and mac n cheese were also very good. My Tennessee Mojito was amazing. We were too full to enjoy a birthday dessert, but our waitress still brought my sister a birthday card signed by the staff at Merchants. It was a great overall dining experience and I will definitely be back in the future. They probably have the best customer service of any restaurant in the area.

I am not one to write reviews, but our experience at Merchants last week needed to be shared. Five of us were in Nashville celebrating our milestone birthday. (Each one reaching this age this year). We spontaneously went to Merchants for lunch and it is one of our highlights of our trip. We waited only 5 minutes for our table and each of our meals were fantastic and beautifully presented. We casually mentioned that we were here celebrating this collective birthday and before we knew it, Jimmy, the manager came over to be sure that all was well. He spent several minutes talking with us, getting to know a little about us. (This was our experience throughout Nashville) Then a few minutes later, Jimmy and our waitress came back with a card signed by many of the staff at Merchants and two amazing blond brownies with ice cream to celebrate us. What a wonderful welcome to Nashville. We highly recommend the food and the service here.

Location is in the middle of the Broadway which is in the middle of the action.. From the first look at it, was nice welcoming place.. You'll feel lost for the first moment, not knowing where are guiding you to, because if you are dinning in they'll take you to the second floor without explaining where you are going... Menue is not clear but staff are helpful and they will guide you through, ordered mt beautiful order ribeye steak.. First try was not successful, it was burned with carbon allover the surface of the steak, quick comment to the waiter and it was replaced with a better version of the steak.. Price is a bit more than I expected, it was an expensive meal end of the story.. Not worth the investment. Over all 3 out of 5 is upscale rating because the staff are really nice and the manager too. Thank you guys.

We celebrated our anniversary here and had a wonderful experience. The Salmon Oscar and Pan Roasted Swordfish were very tasty and presented in an appealing manner. The service was astounding, not only by our waiter Casey, but every other member of the waitstaff. We enjoyed the decor and atmosphere of the 2nd floor. The Manager, Jonathan, and everyone else there that evening made it a memorable occasion. Would highly recommend for great service and excellent quality of the food.

Visiting Nashville from California. We decided to stop into Merchants for a nice lunch. We sat at the bar as there were few tables available and we did not have a reservation. We enjoy sitting at the bar, so this worked out great. We ordered a beer, fried green tomatoes and a burger. Everything was amazing. We chatted with the bar tender, ate our yummy food and were very impressed with the decor, the vibe and the food. All in all, we enjoyed Merchants very much.

Visited as it looked good as we passed. So pleased we did. Greeted by Ariel who was delightfully managing the seating. After a short wait we were seated. Ordered steak salad and salmon BLT. After a bit of a wait the manager apologised the the steak was not to their normal high standard and was being prepared again. The test of a great restaurant is to let the customer know if there is a problem and sort it. They were first class. Food was fantastic and server really good. Will be back tonight.

Visiting Nashville for a truck injury conference with fellow trial lawyers and had a fantastic group dinner at Merchants last night. The food and service were first rate. She ordered "family style" so got to try lots of their great dishes. Highly recommend the lobster roll sandwiches, deviled eggs, mussels, and of course their famous steaks. Looking forward to returning again soon!

While we've enjoyed Merchants upstairs dining room many times in the past, the experience was just off this time. We had a reservation and we're right on time, yet - according to them - they sat overflow customers upstairs and did not hold a table for us. We ended up at a table right by the stairs and pushed against a post that made it difficult to fit the three of us. The food was also sub par, with a radical difference in meat doneness on two identical dishes. -- To top it off, none of the four hostesses at the podium downstairs could bother to look up and say "Thank you" while we were on the way out. They did not have customers; they were just too busy talking to one another to look up.

Had a very good dinner here and the service was excellent. The jambalaya was very good with just enough spice. The burger was tasty and perfectly cooked. The building is from 1892 and is a great refuge from Broadway as you can see the chaotic mess outside but the restaurant bloacks our most of the noise.

My husband and I made reservations for a birthday weekend. The entire staff is so accommodating to allergy needs! From the hostess (Samantha) , an extremely attentive waitress (Christa) , and a manager (Jonathan) who understands dietary needs due to allergies and autoimmune disorders. Christa worked closely with the chef to ensure we were able to have a fantastic meal and experience. This was by far our best dining out experience. Thank you all!!

Nice place with quite tasty food, however it is quite expensive. The nice restaurant on the second floor would be a great location for a business, however despite the noise of Broadway being dampened the inside of the building echoes sound very well, resulting in difficult conversations. We had a group of 12 people and we found we were forced to speak in raised raised voices to hear each other across the table. For smaller parties this may not be an issue.

I am vegan and allergic to oil. Not fun when you are in Nashville because its mostly fried food. It's tough to find a compliant meal. But the chef (upstairs) here is AMAZING!!! He used his skills, talent, and love for food to cook me an absolutely flavorful dish that I could enjoy. It was roasted veggies with toasted almonds and some bits of orange with a lemon balsamic spritz. Thank you, thank you for the best meal in town!

What a fantastic experience. Johnathan helped me arrange a last second reservation for the University of Kentucky Dance Team while we were traveling with the SEC Tournament in Nashville. We ate at Merchants the year before and loved it so much we wanted to come back, but this time we specifically wanted to sit together as a team. They explained that they do not normally let parties in the private room upstairs often or without any alcohol sales, but they graciously made an exception for us. When we arrived from a tragic loss of the game that afternoon they greeted us with sympathy and took the time to make us custom place cards. It was so sweet we kept them as souvenirs. We were starving from the game so they brought us popcorn NON-STOP. We got 3 orders of their famous Duck Fat Tater tots along with our meals. We were checked in on regularly our waiter danced for us. The UKDT, to this day, still talks about those tater -tots and how great the service was. THANK YOU again Merchants! See you next year!

A little food gem on a strip of music bars and BBQ / Nashville Hot Chicken spots. The interior is packed and very noisy (but so is the whole honky tonk strip!) but still comfortable and nicely decorated. Good service and accommodating to requests. The salmon was delicious, the salads were good, will return and bring more guests.

Great food and service. Went on a Tuesday and had to wait 20min for a table. Ambiance was good with some awesome 90s background music. I appreciated not eating in front of a loud country band. Food selection was good. I enjoyed my salmon sandwich with sweet potatoe fries. Great Moscato selection. My sister got the jambalaya meal and mojito and wasn't a fan unfortunately. Dry rubbed wings were good. Our waiter Chris was kind and helpful. Will return again if ever back in that area.

Best part of the meal were the drinks. Moscow mike with homemade ginger syrup perfectly mixed. Highly recommend to anyone. Sitting downstairs is casual so don’t worry about attire. Find Travis, usually in the downstairs bar. Fantastic bartender. Will make the best drink of your year.

We walked in here by chance and had an incredible experience. The service was superb and the menu is creative, essentially Southern and refreshing. The beverage menu is extensive and there are many local selections. Get the tater tots and fried green tomato appetizers - they do not disappoint! Excellent black bean burgers and sweet potato fries too! Bon appetit!

Great place in downtown Nashville. Music is blasting everywhere outside. Here too you can hear it if you want to, but it's quieter. Upstairs is better and not any costlier. Oldest free standing building around. Had the three course meal and it was great. Having had a lovely window to people watch was even better.

At Broadway and 4th, this is smack in the middle of the bar and band scene. Merchants is an - almost - quiet spot for a meal. Four of us chose to sit upstairs for dinner, where we could talk easier. A larger menu for dinner was available, and the setting was much more comfortable. Carrie led us through the menu, unerringly, and we had perfect steaks and salmon. Appetizers were scrumptious too. Thanks for a great evening Carrie!

Great. Walked on and were offered a 45 minute wait or a seat at the bar of one was open. My wife and I found seats and were promptly greeted by a bartender who took our drink, appetizer and dinner orders. We shared a delicious plate of fried green tomatoes and Mac and cheese. Great place. Right in the middle of the craziness of Broadway, this is a nice gem. It’s one of the quieter places on Broadway. We ate on the first floor - in the bistro. We had one of the specials - Nashville hot chicken and waffles - it was excellent! The steak salad was really good, the fried green tomatoes were awesome, tater tots were delicious. The Mac and cheese was ok, not great. Overall, a great experience.

My wife and I went to the upstairs restaurant and it was outstanding. My wife had a Cesar salad and fillet. I had the lobster roll and prime rib. All was excellent. The lobster rolls surprised me with a different twist but excellent. The prime rib was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. My waitress pick a white wine for the lobster roll and a red St Emilion wine for the prime rib. Excellent restaurant

Some food was great, prime rib was mediocre. Prices are high. Service was good, as far as waitress attitude and curiosity but things were delayed ( Saturday nite and crazy busy) Reservations are taken at the door and was an hour to hour and a half. They will call you in cellphone and you can go to bars around town. We were compensated for the delay of food with deserts and meal discount or taken off menu. The delays I'm sure was due to the crowds. Our server was very gracious, manager personally talked to us and offered the compensation. I would recommend the steaks, fantastic. Very good win selection. The place is upscale, fine dining. Place is clean, nicely decorated, bathrooms clean. There are elevators to take you upstairs. I would go again but when things weren't as crazy. Nashville is like Spring Break on steroids

Very good lunch. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. It was crowded and wait was supposed to be 20 minutes. Waited less than 10. Haley our server was pleasant and efficient. We had rotisserie chicken (moist and flavorful) and jambalaya ( little spicy but delicious.) Also had side of cornbread...excellent! Food was delivered hot and with only a short wait. Told several friends to give it a try while they are in town. Nice place.

As a large group, I'd expect the manager to, at the very least, stop in at some point and ask how everything was. Nope. And he was just outside the room. Overall - good food, poor service.

Good food and EXEMPLARY SERVICE. My wife and I enjoyed dining upstairs last night during a deluge. I inquired of my waiter where we might buy an umbrella downtown. He said he eould check. At the end of the meal he gave a new umbrella to us. Best service I ever had. Thank you ADRIAN SPERKA and staff.

LOVE this place!! Every single staff member that we came in contact with went out of his/her way to welcome us! Two different managers checked on us..Ryan and Adrian. They were so involved with every aspect. Our sweet hostess was from Idaho but her name escapes me. Mandy was our server and though she was busy, always had a smile . The food was FANTASTIC! I had the grilled chicken sandwich and my daughter had the pulled pork Mac ‘n cheese. We WILL go back when we return in two weeks!

Supet sweet waitress and hostesses. Perfect sweet tea, delicious herb dusted popcorn, melt in your mouth cornbread crusted fried green tomatoes, homemade pimento cheese, this place is a must try! Perfect air conditioned reprieve from the strip.

First stop in Nashville. Around noon. Great attitude and food was terrific. Split the waffle, egg, bacon, and tater tots. More than enough for two. Oh yeah, I forgot the buffalo chicken strips. Great wait staff and manager. I definitely recommend the first floor for value and quality.

What a cool place! Service is........ excellent! Super friendly and attentive staff. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was hopping! We sat at the bar and got chatting to our neighbours, they were super nice locals. We were shocked to find out they paid our bill for us! I just love the hospitality of the south. Thank you Brent very kind of you! I got my shoes shined while I had dinner by the famous Charles who did an amazing job! They also serve so really good local beers and I love restaurants who support local breweries!

Very quaint, adorable southern ambiance. My friend and I just went for a night cap and dessert. We had the rum Blondie and and glasses of pinot gris. We were upset because we should've came here for dinner as well! Exceptionally great service, and relaxed setting. Absolutely love this place.

Cool environment, good food, excellent wine and liquor selection. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. When asked, we mentioned to the hostess that we were in town for my wife's birthday. After that, everyone who spoke to us told her "Happy Birthday," including a manager who came over just for that reason.

My wife and I ate here for our anniversary supper. It was highly recommended by a friend and we had a wonderful time. When we arrived they had a card wishing us a happy anniversary with signatures and notes from the staff. Our waitress, Samantha, was really nice and made perfect recommendations!

Nice step out of the hustle and bustle of the busy street to a quieter and more laid back atmosphere. The decor made you feel like you were transferred to a more relaxing upscale time. The waitress was friendly and accommodating to even the smallest request. Our food delicious and was quickly devoured.

Great selection of food. Had their signature old fashioned and was not a fan. Replaced with a regular old fashioned and it was made right. I ordered the Mac and cheese with chicken. Pretty rich with cream which made it heavy but a little too rich for my liking. Fried tomatoes where pretty great with the order of tots as well we're great apps for our table. Highly recommend for dinner

Dinner was tasty. Friendly staff. Did have to wait for refills on tea. Was not offered a refill on coffee. Lemon Tart was not as expected. Seemed like or was pulled out of the refrigerator and put on a plate. Seemed old. Crust was tough not crisp and flaky. Not worth the calories.

Located right on a corner of Broadway, great energy and location. Was expecting a more classic experience with a little more refinement. It was a little hectic and crowded. With the toughness of getting a reservation, I was expecting an amazing experience. The service was attentive but it was hard for our waiter to hear because it was so loud. The food was so so, again, with the tough reservation, I was expecting something big.

We went there with a party of 9. They said it was going to be a hour weight, which was fine because we didn't have a reservation. An hour and a half later they said if we wanted to be seated soon we would have to be split up to two tables nowhere near each other. If we wanted to do that we would have been able to eat and hour earlier. So for all of that they comped us a order of tater tots.
