Loud. Too loud. It is hard to keep a conversation. They took a long time to take our orders. We had a problem with one of the orders and the waiter, instead of offering other options, made the manager (or something like that) come fix it, what obviously delayed the solution. This person offered an explanation and other menu options and fixed the problem, but one of us ate while the others had already finished. The waiter and the maitre were too sales focused, offering more expensive alternatives to the plates we wanted to order. The food was really good, that is true (except for the tikka masala, which was bland). However, I did not feel it to be good enough to justify the higher price. It probably didn’t help that we weren’t having a good experience. We will not eat here again. Too pricy to give a second opportunity.

Absolutely some of the best quality food and lively atmosphere. It is always a treat to dine here. The servers are wonderful and the variation of the dishes (and spice levels) is perfect for those who love this cuisine and newcomers to it.

Jay Patel

Very good food that is mixed well with other ethnic foods. Great service from waitress and kitchen staff.

Jyothi Magdum

Didn't enjoy the food. Chicken Bhuna was very bland with out any flavour.

Md Akheruzzaman

Had tried lamb ribs, perfectly spiced and cooked. Didn't like the lamb shank in a fancy dish. I felt the salt was less, only the gravy was giving flavor to the meat. But worth a try.

Keith Jackson

Awesome Indian food. This place has a cool atmosphere, with old movies playing on projectors. If you don't like curries, then stay far away from this place. The smell is amazing from the minute you walk in. The food is flavorful, rich, and large portions for the money. Make sure you try at least one appetizer. They also have a great cocktail menu. Would certainly go again.

W. Rusty Faulks

My go to for authentic Indian food with some local flare. The service is excellent and the food is excellent. A little pricy, but worth the extra spend!

Khushboo Golyan

Came across an unconventional Indian restaurant after a really long time. Awesome fusion to the cuisine in a charming setting. The food was absolutely delectable and the service was top-notch. Lavish place but worth it.

Tom Jewell

Some of the best food I've had, hands down. Spicy and non-spicy options for everyone. Desi Fare options are by far my favorite. Try the chicken or lamb moilee.

Kirk Jackson

Nice atmosphere, great service, awesome drinks and food! Little different take on Indian cuisine that just works perfectly. Would recommend reservations as there are no shortage of folks vying to eat here.

Had to be the absolute most absurd experience I have ever had dining out. I just moved back to Nashville and was absolutely extatic about coming back to this restaurant my previous favorite but no longer. I am unsure of the change in the restaurant's staff but it is not for the better. I have never in my life been as degraded and talked to as the hostess did, as well as almost refused to be sat while another hostess was trying to walk me to my reserved table. After this our server was almost unheard from or seen the entirely of our dining experience. This has left a very bitter taste in my mouth from a restaurant that was once my favorite Indian restaurant outside of India. Now I guess it is time to find another.

Aaron Falck

The food has gone down in quality slightly since it opened. Though I would still go back and enjoy the calamari immensely, the service was awful. Poor timing of plates, server giving our food to other tables, she seemed to not be familiar with the menu to the point that she could describe the food. I was embarrassed to take someone to a place with that kind of service regardless of how the food was. Would go for myself again if the mood took me, but never bring a date or a business associate here.

Food is alright. We went to celebrate anniversary with high expectations. Service is friendly. My husband found a broken piece of white ceramic crockery in his rice and luckily didn’t swallow it. We informed staff right away so no one else gets hurt. Staff offered us free takeouts but we didn’t want anything in exchange. Staff handled it really well and included a generous discount on our check.

Tejas Dharankar

Amazing place for an upscale Indian dining experience. We love all the dishes. Must try the chicken tikka poutine.

Jason Deonarain

The food is very flavorful, as one would expect from Indian cuisine. The spices are not overwhelming, nor is the food too rich. I was able to take in a 3 course meal and not feel overly stuffed. The place was packed with a mixed crowd (young, old, and all races) and the vibe was very vibrant. Service was prompt, even with a packed house. Dishes were hot and had eastern and western (southern) flair. Must have the tandoori poutine. That was moth watering and truly something unique. I'll be back soon!

Mike Lewis

Great and creative dishes, very friendly staff. Way better than I thought it was going to be and I thought it was going to be pretty good. If your visiting or live in Nashville and you like good food, put it at the top of your list of places to dine. Super impressed.

Adrian Jackson

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience! Michael, our service provider, did an excellent job! The Food Quality was exquisite. I highly recommend Chauhan.

Evan Lampman

This was the most perfect experience we could have had in Nashville. Amazing service, outstanding food (get the Nachos and Mussels), and the cocktails were perfect!!! A+ and highly recommended!

Mirian Kina

Very goo Indian food. Nice environment and staff. There is also a valet parking service.

Sonia Eapen

We just had dinner at this restaurant. The food was amazing but what was truly great was the service. My son has a nut allergy and he ate an appetizer that we didn't realize had a nut paste in. He had a reaction to it and had to run to the bathroom to throw up twice. The waiter and manager were so compassionate. They kept coming to us to make sure he was okay. They brought him gingerale and a pineapple sorbet. To top it all off they brought us a dessert and then refused to charge us. So the entire dinner was on the house!! I cannot believe it still. I've never experienced such superior service anywhere else. I want to specifically thank our waiter and Nikki Smith, the assistant general manager. Lots of love, Sonia

Chadrick Glossup

The food was amazing! My husband and I just had our 1 year anniversary dinner there. He had the duck leg and I had the lamb chops. We were greeted with a complimentary app for our anniversary. Everything we had was spectacular! My lamb chops in the tamarind sauce with the squash was amazing. My Husband had the duck leg and he said it was delicious. After our meal we where also given complimentary glasses of champagne to toast our love for one another. Great service, great food and love the atmosphere.

Joel stickler

It was pretty good, the service was amazing but the food was not as amazing as I had expected seeing who is backing the restaurant in reputation. We had the serving dishes where you chose your protein and sauce and they were tasty but I've had more flavorful at a local Indian restaurant where I live. We also had pork belly as the appetizer and it had very little flavor at all.

Pete Shea

Amazing Indian fusion. Everything we had at our table was great. The vindaloo was definitely hot, but we were warned. The strip steak was great and the paneer burghi relleno was every good and interesting. We also tried several of the house special drinks, which all were like variations of traditional drinks but with interesting spices and flavors included. All of them were great. We also love the Bollywood movies playing on the walls. Definitely get reservations.

John O'Driscoll

Excellent restaurant serving unique takes on southern and Indian cuisine. The atmosphere was great and service was fast. They were full and needed reservations but the bar was open seating.

Matt Lavin

Everything we had was delicious. I had salmon kabobs and I would have drank the mint sauce it came with from a cup. My wife had "meat and three" and everything was good too. You can ask what the chef's choice is before ordering it. I'd happily go back.

steve cantrell

This is great Indian food, but it isn't just Indian food. It is the best of Indian and southern. But it is not great just for that. The individual parts are the best you have had. The rice is the fluffiest you ever had. The curry sauce is the most flavorful. The staff is very helpful and friendly. For an appetizer try the nachos. They are out of this world.

Anup Patel

One of my favorite restaurants in Nashville and one of my favorite about Indian restaurants period. They do a great job of recreating traditional Indian dishes in a unique way. One thing I would love to see is more vegetarian options, but regardless I'll be back for more!

Pranesh Reddy

Ambience is great and right on money you spend. Waiters have wonderful hospitality. As a fellow Indian, Indian food with regular restaurant taste are a bit highly priced. I can understand the rent and maintenance would be pretty high in downtown's but still it is unbalanced between taste and prices.

khushali Vashi

The place is trash. They served us cold food as they forget our appetizer and sent it to the other table, made us wait like 15 minutes just to pick up our check after they gave us the wrong check. They were really negligent towards us. After we asked for to go containers they gave us the containers without even having a little courtesy to offer a bag which they did for other customers. Guys there are a lot of nice indian places in Nashville but this is not the one you wanna visit. Celebrity chef is just a name but the place is only fancy where they ill treat you after charging you a fortune. I wish google had negative rating I would have gone for that.

Brian Hughes

I've been meaning to get here for quite a while, unfortunatly I don't ever "accidentally" end up in this part of town during meal times. I'm glad we finally made it. Got in a little after noon on a Saturday, light crowd, seated quickly. My wife and daughter were hesitant when i was looking for sharers for the chicken curry poutine, I ordered it anyway. If necessary, i knew i could take one for the team and take it all on myself. When it arrived at the table, it disappeared surprisingly fast. We also got the chicken and waffles, the burger, and the chicken & coconut curry. All of it was excellent, also portions were very generous, we had to carry some of each home. Don't forget to bring a little cash to tip the complementary valet service.

Madhur Chopra

Before you read the review, please note that this is restaurant by a famous chef and expected more. The food was good but not great. I have had exceptional food in not so famous restaurants for a little bit less $. What's great is the idea of fusion food and the recipes. Deserts are interesting and good. The menu too seems limited. Overall, it's decent food but not worth the price or the hype.

Ado 18

Great tastes. Attentive staff and great location. Tight booths for 6, but worth it.

Gaurang Patel

I don’t think I have ever eaten anything better when it comes to Indian fusion food. I wish I was living here so that I could enjoy this food every weekend. Amazing, creative and fun. If there were 10 stars I would give 11. Victoria was very attentive and caring. Couldn’t have done a better job. Service was amazing too. Made my Nashville experience most memorable.

Alexander Dane

Amazing blend of Indian cuisine with a touch of Tennessee flavor

Mark Fuqua

ABSOLUTELY NOT your regular Indian Restaurant! The staff was so professional, friendly, and attentive. The brunch menu was varied but with all your dependable and favorite flavors and tastes. You have to try the roasted brussel sprouts!

Erik Green

The food, drinks, and appetizers here are all amazing. This time we tried the Tandoori Chicken Poutine. That was the best idea we had all day. I could eat three of these, skip dinner and go to bed happy.

Tristan Lora

I wish there were more vegan options at an Indian restaurant. They do have some items for us. Beware their rice is not vegan. Sub for quinoa. Cool environment and always a crowd pleaser in nashville.

Abhishek Vedamoorthy

Absolutely delicious food! Me and four of my friends went to this place for lunch. Ordered the cocktails which were awesome. The naan bread basket starter is amazing! We also ordered "Chicken or the egg", Amritsari Kulcha, Pork Belly fried rice. Everything was mind blowing! Ordered the gulab jamun cheesecake which was amazing as well. If you are in the Nashville area do check it out. It is a really good place!

Jason Bea

Chose this place for my birthday lunch. The food is amazing here! I have had most things on the menu, and everything has been incredible. I now spend forever trying to decide what to eat. The atmosphere is very nice and quiet. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville.

Brian Dougherty

Since moving out of NYC I no longer have Indian food easily accessible. So in Nashville for business and figured you can't go wrong with a resteraunt by a Chopped winner. As opposed to traditional Punjabi or Pakistani style I could consider this not of a "fusion". The flavors of all dishes were well balanced, big portions yet you didn't feel stuffed. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable on the food and drink pairings. So if you're visiting Nashville, or a local and want a change of pace from amazing BBQ eat here.

World Traveler

My overall experience at this place was fairly good. The ambience of the restaurant is unique with an industrialized, electric, modern look. The wait staff are decent. In terms of the food, some of the items just didn’t seem to hit the mark. The cheesy naan bread was really good. The desi bowl with rice, chicken, and tikka masala was good but not great... I’ve tasted better at other Indian restaurants and at home. The appetizer we ordered came after the meals, which was disappointing. As for portions, I would say they are not shareable for two nor are they just perfect for one person. So basically you will have to order knowing you will have extra food.

Kash Dhanapal

Just wow. Food was great. Generous portions. Fantastic service. Certainly worth the cost. I had a couple drinks and a basic dinner, and it was about $35 before the tip. If you're on your own and want a good place to grab a meal the bar was a great place to do just that.

Gam Narapanya

Best Indian cuisine we’ve ever tried! The place was nice and casual. Our server was awesome! I had lamb vindaloo and omg it was the best and one of most spicy things I’ve ever eaten. Overall an awesome place to go to!

Sanjeev Bhatt

Great food superb ambience. Must visit if you are in Nashville and looking for fusion Indian food. Very friendly staff and great experience.

Hap Fiandt

Modern (and some classic) Indian. Interesting selection of food and drink. Have been twice and look forward to going back.

Clayton Clark

From the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left, everything was perfect. Had a great lunch here! Nothing bad is on that menu I guarantee it! Great Tikka masala, great quality ingredients, excellent staff, enchanting ambience, it's no wonder the place is owned by a legend of the food industry.

Lee Manning

Flavor explosion! Superb

Ann Marie Almariei

Excellent food. The cocktails were outstanding. Most friendly staff. Absolutely loved it. Will be back.

Janardhan Katta

Not consistent with food quality and taste.

Scott OBrien

First time in Nashville and chose from a list of suggestions from a friend and went here. Wow. Fantastic. Got the naan appetizer which was amazing. Wife got the pork tenderloin and I got the Meat Three thing. Both were spectacular but my wife's pork was the best either of us had ever had. It was unbelievable. The waitress Kristen was very knowledgeable. Will definitely return.

Pierre Delinois

Delicious, flavorful, and creative Indian fare. We ordered the chicken and waffles, tandoori chicken and egg, and naan with sauce spread. The tastes were varied and robust. We look forward to going back again soon!

Corbin McGrath

Always delicious and great ambiance. Definitely make a reservation a few days in advance

Erik F

Coolest restaurant I’ve been to recently. Incredible imagination on fusion, excellent ambiance and presentation, and nice service.

Lee Pierce

Friendly, helpful staff! I typically order from Door Dash but being in the restaurant was a wonderful experience. The Cippino was out of this world, the Indian spin really took it over the top.

thebrav

As a meat eater i was very impressed with the options available from vegan to carnosaur. Pair your meal with Uncle Val on a hot day as a sweet refreshing drink.

jerilyn Morgan

Creatively tasty cuisine and lots of fun, scrumptious dishes to share!

Wise Man

Good food & good service Actually the best in Nashville Good people

Juliette Alex

Ordered the chicken vindaloo and it was absolutely delicious! However, do not order this dish if you do not like spicy food, as the vindaloo has a good kick to it. Got the cheesecake for dessert and it was to die for! Also I seem to enjoy nearly their entire drink menu. Great atmosphere and great service! Will definitely recommend trying this place.

Donato Loleng

Excellent Indian food and desserts

Khushi M

The ambiance was good. But if you are going for authentic Indian food then this is not the place. The food was tasteless and not worth even half the price.

VinnyLambo

Great fusion style place with one of the nicest serving staff ever

Juliette Willson

Incredible meal. Don't miss the poutine, it's to die for! My uncle val is an incredible cocktail as well. I don't drink gin but this is so imcredibly smooth and refreshing!

Jacob Goodwin

Amazing! Claire at the bar is so nice!' food was epic. When you need a break from southern cooking, go here for a great story.

Charles Cosner

I am a fan of Indian food and I finally got here for lunch in the old Cafe 123 space.. I had a lovely bowl of chicken tikka masala. The food, decor, and ambience all worked. I will definitely dine here again. Here brunch is reputed to be particularly good.

Dan Kennedy

Nicely flavored burger. The patty was a little overdone for my liking (should have ordered it medium). The fries are pretty darn good.

Ally Thomas

Fantastic dining experience, very impressed, would not chop. this seems like the best place to take your stubborn family members and hold their hand through the meal. The flavors are big, but the heat levels are not overwhelming. Judges review- Creativity-very welcoming server with careful recommendations and enthusiasm, beer pairings from Chuahan’s brewery were fun! Chai stout, saffron IPA and a palatable Saison. Presentation-Meat and Three came out in a little tower of bowls! Inside was perfectly cooked chicken, basmati rice, dal, veggies, naan and a papadum, lovely ambiance, exposed brick and corners dressed with curtains and Indian films projected on the wall, Taste-The dal was packed with flavor and spice and black eyed peas, a nice southern twist. The veggies came in a bright yellow moilee sauce, a coconut milk based, sweet sauce with tender carrots, peas, beans and potatoes. The tikka masala and veggies really shined-a creamy tomato sauce with a depth of authentic Indian flavors. I can’t wait to return!

Joey Dickinson

Friendly employee's, when I swing by this place to pick 2 orders for clients they smile and willing to write. Because I'm deaf, and they are extremely nice people! Give 5 star only because have 5. I could throw in 10 !

Khyati Chaturvedi

Have mixed experience with this place. We were so excited to get a reservation on our one evening in Nashville and to be eating indian food after a week of pastas, burger and pizzas. Here is my breakdown Ambiance - extraordinary! Was truley impressed with the decor and ambiance. They had causal and booth seating , with Hindi movies played on wall via projector for each booth. This would be a kind of place you would want to book for a special evening. Service - Great service, very friendly and welcoming. They checked on us often to see if we needed anything or had any questions. Food - this one was little below my expectations, we ordered kale Chaat, pani puri for starters, both of which could have used a little more spice for a Chaat snack. For entree we ordered coconut curry which was good. It was very expensive as well. Desserts- everyone had good reviews about the gulab jamun cheesecake combo , so I decided to try something else ;) . Ordered the kheer khurma , which was not up to the mark, first bite on that was full clove , which was unexpected and definitely spoiled the taste. I would not recommend this one , stick with cheesecake gulabjamun.

Patti Mattson

Amazing food, service and decor.

Emi Canahuati

Inventive, fun and delicious. The space is beautiful. Parking can be a bit tricky.

Mike Martinez

Tried their Tandoori Shrimp w/basmati rice with the Bhunna spicy curry and it was very tasty, not too spicy but tons of flavor.

Andrew Allen

Amazing indian fare, the atmosphere is very nice/comfortable. Exposed brick and wood with Bollywood projections playing on the wall. 10/10

Raymond Featherston

Friendly employee's, when I swing by this place to pick 2 orders for clients they smile and willing to write. Because I'm deaf, and they are extremely nice people! Give 5 star only because have 5. I could throw in 10 !

Kathryn Melton

Chauhan Ale & Masala House is one of the best Indian restaurant in this area. The food here is excellent! Plentiful, tasty, more than filling. I had the meal for one. Highly recommended. Next night I tried a variety of appetizers: most of them were excellent! Service was excellent. They did not bother me with service, but was always there when I needed, or just before. 5 stars for sure!

Brad Henkin

Great experience and food like heaven!

Bob Reilly

Amazing fodo, different menu, fantastic wait staff and bar knwos how to pour a drink.

Mark Mancil

Wow. Such a wonderful experience. Unlimited choices with the combination option. I went with the paneer and saag. The naan and relish appetizer was equally amazing. Cant wait to go back.

Anurag Syal

NOT SUITABLE DURING LUNCH AT WEEKEENDS I would seriously advice against visiting this place during the lunch time on the weekends. There weekend lunch menu is a "brunch" menu and TBH, it was a big let down because I expected Indian food but they didn't have much options in their "brunch menu". I wonder why they would serve brunch till 3 PM. Maybe I should have called before and asked about the menu I went in. The "Chauhan's special burger" is something that one can easily find in a Jack-in-the-Box and one of their recommender drinks, "Arjun, you gonna have one more" is a 15 mL drink priced at a dollar per mL, pretentiousness at it's best.

mike Deisher

Best restaurant in Nashville hands down.

Brandi Etheridge

Absolutely DELICIOUS!! Great place to go if you're curious about Indian cuisine!

Shreyas Shivanna

Experienced just about the worst service ever! We were offered the main course before the appetizers, offered the wrong check at the end of our meal and just completely ignored by the service staff. Do not fancy this restaurant just because of the owners reputation! The staff is doing a fine job sinking that reputation.

Swetha Mohan

Amazing food! Beautiful ambience and their service was excellent.. highly recommend this place if you are in Nashville

Aja Pearl

GET THE POUTINE!! It is seriously unbelievable. I went with 4 people who had never been before and had them all try it. They were very apprehensive at first, but after the first bite the poutine was gone in minutes. Seriously delicious. All the food is great. Meat and 3 seems to be the most popular item. It can be a bit pricey but it's honestly worth every penny.

Rob Holroyd

If you love Indian food and contemporary setting, you will love this place.

Nina Suresh

Great ambience, loved the food. The gol guppa shots are a must try!!

Lauri Cherry

The atmosphere was better than the food. The price point does not match the service.

Reli-On Home Inspection Llc

Chauhan Ale & Masala house, upon entry, exudes rich color and warmth not typically seen. It’s inviting, full of culture, depth and anticipation of the quality of taste, texture and satisfaction of such flavorful food. I can’t wait to return and expand my tastes into all the varieties offered. The ale selection is authentic and excellent as well as the service. 5 stars all the way.

Sushmitha Diwakar

It is an Indian Fusion Cuisine. Best in Nashville for tasting contemporary Indian Food, it has great variety of food and nice place for occasions like family get together, friends reunion, office lunch or dinner's and also perfect for a romantic dinner under a great ambience and service is really great. Worth for the price you pay.

William Parker

Great food and cocktails, an absolute must see for anyone in town.

Sanjiv Desai

Great Indian cuisine in Nashville. The chef has taken lots of liberty inventing combination of different taste pallet. The service is excellent as compared to the crowded place. Reservation is a must especially if you are planning to come during weekends.

jtaylor4

Food was mediocre for the price. The atmosphere is excellent and service is impeccable, which is the source of the stars. I prefer the food of Sitar (near vandy) any day of the week. Maybe we caught em on an off night, but for the price the food was meh...

Majid Syed

Very cool Indian restaurant in the heart of downtown Nashville. The appetizers we ordered was the "Pani Puri" and the absolute must.. coconut curry mussels. My dish came out in a traditional tiffin, which pays homage to how Indians used to travel with food. Think of an Indian lunch box. If you want to mix up your eating experience in Nashville, visit Chauhan Masala House.

Kelsey Down

Great service, incredible food, cool atmosphere. You HAVE to try the hot chicken pakoras. I've never tasted chicken like that before. I will be sure to visit all of Maneet Chauhan's other restaurants in Nashville!

Anne Hultgren

Not traditional Indian, it is fusion. That is a plus. You can get what is best described as a Naan quesadilla and other delicious fused-food. Erik and Tess took good care of us at the bar. Some kinks to work out in communication with the kitchen, but our problems were fixed promptly. Give them a try.

T Roy S

No loss for creativity here they've taken some standard Indian dishes and taking him to a whole new level

Wayne E. Ramella

Very good contemporary Indian restaurant, we ordered lamb and chicken skaag thumb up

Jody May

Good cuisine in a chill atmosphere. Valet parking is available. They dim the lights and project Bollywood on the walls. We shared the calamari which is much more tender and less salty than other places. I had the "meat and three" chef's preparation which had chicken and three traditional dishes...all very tasty and highly recommended if you are looking for some variety. Great Nashville venue for something other than the typical fare.

Cameron Shea

Amazing Indian Fusion in a classy yet semi-casual atmosphere, with delicious if expensive food that is absolutely worth the cost. Where do I start? The appetizers I suppose! I highly recommend the starter with different dips and spices. It is so, so good. Get some extra naan to go with it! All of them are amazing, however. Main dishes? Can't go wrong! The tandoori steak was truly amazing, I will say that. The vindaloo is incredibly spicy, but wow is the flavor great. Want a drink? They have all sorts of unique stuff. Try their take on a Sazerac! It was amazing. All of the ones we tried were, however. Dessert? The cheesecake was again unique and delicious. The rest all sounded great as well. Get reservations, and you won't leave hungry either!

sehrish shikarpuriya

After seeing Maneet on chopped for almost half my life, I thought this place would blow my mind. However, the food was average, if not below, and the 'fusion' bit isn't really all that innovative. The ambience is great, but the food was quite disappointing If you actually enjoy good Indian food, please spend your money and time elsewhere.

Tracy Nelson

Great food & drink with trendy atmosphere. Wonderful service too!

Eric Martz

Service is top-notch. Food was great, definitely try the poutine.

Frank Sokol

Great food and friendly service. Took my team from work here for a dinner. We had a great time. The guppa balls are good (different for Americans and I probably screwed up the name). The atmosphere was nice. Worth going to for something special. Dinner for 4 with a few drinks came to 400. Will go again when the occasion merits it.

Aaron Gant

Great food, good servers, SLOW kitchen.

Kristen Yost

Table was not ready at the reservation time. Extremely slow service. Server not concerned about potential allergens nor special occasion celebration. Server was overall disinterested in our table and made us feel like a burden. Food was ok but not great enough to justify the experience. Interior of the restaurant is beautiful.

David Attaway

Food was very good, and Victoria made the experience wonderful with outstanding service!!

Shane Gibson

Pretentious food. It is not Indian and the fusion was not successful. They had parmesan on naan for Christ's sake.

Aasim Sayani

Terrible terrible quality, my entire family got food poisoning after the meal last night. We used to be patrons of this restaurant but the quality have officially dropped and if you don’t believe me try it yourself if you’ve had any experience eating Indian food you can tell it’s not the same as two years ago. Thoroughly disappointed would not recommend to anyone sane who has had Indian food before, and the only reason they get one star is the phenomenal bartender that made our night. Thanks for the food poisoning Chauhan, and glad we flew in from San Francisco to experience it.

Kevin Embree

This is an amazing chic take on Indian food. Great service, food , and atmosphere. If you have had Indian food in the past and not cared for it I recommend trying this. You will be amazed.

Mark Houghton

Great food and service. Charming atmosphere.

artimanar

Went for late dinner - 9.30-10 ish. Ambiance. Great. Service. Pretty good. Gets only pretty good because it is hard to get them on the phone. But the service staff was attentive and prompt. Food - now this is where the problem comes in. I liked the appetizers - chicken pakora and calamari. Spicy. Tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed them. As for dinner - my partner got the desi tiffin and I got the shrimp vindaloo. The vindaloo was forgettable. Indifferent. Shrimp was chewy - cooked too much. The desi tiffin not much better. Everything was spicy - the daal, the chicken, the okra. Everything - except the naan. I guess this is where the masala house in the name comes in but I just found it overwhelming. No balance. Full on assault. I have been to just about all kinds of desi restaurant. There are very few that have such a vibrant ambiance but many that serve good spicy AND balanced food. Now coming to the ale house part - I got a $7 beer - perhaps the cheapest on the menu and it was a puny fart of a bottle that barely filled a glass - so perhaps 12 oz or less. For $7 - one expects at least a full damn glass. So my advice - go for the ambiance and snacks. Give full meal a pass. I had high hopes for this place but was sadly disappointed.

Sachin Thakur

When in Nashville, Chauhan's is the place you must dine at, at least once. I have been to plenty Indian restaurants around in USA. Chauhan's is now on the top 3 of my list. Full marks for Ambience. decor, friendly staff and Food. I tried the Signature Chauhan Burger which i would recommend to anyone who loves burger to try it on their first visit. Cocktails were also pretty good.

August Marshall

This food was delicious. I’m sorry, paneer cheese fries? Consider my mind blown. Definitely want to come back here.

Gunnie Pandher

Uchi Dukan fika pakwan Naam Chauhan Kharab saman Never come here if your looking for good food.

Shibi BP

HereI go with a 4 star ! Loved the place.. It has a fusion of Indian and American food.. The must try items that I would suggest are Gol gappa shorts, Chicken kabab, Hot chicken pakoras and the Jalebi cake.. They have got really good flavours.. I tried the masala tea as well.. However, felt like it was way too light.. Could have been a lil more strong.. But the masalas in it wad good ! The ambience was great so as the food

van Son

On vacay passing thru Nashville decided to skip the buffet places and go here. I can say we dont regret our decision. Partner had the award winning burger which he grabbed and I swear it was gone in a few secs. He loves it and this when he doesn't like desi restaurants. I ordered the basmati rice with tandoori chicken and buns sauce. Good food and have I mentioned the server was actually very passionate about her job which reflected in her service. Pls open 1 in Charlotte. It's about time we got 1 there too.

Brian Calbeck

Incredible food. I'd highly recommend it. All the sauces were really good

Food options are creative and as the name suggests, it's perfect fusion. We ordered kale pakoras, chicken poutine, chicken pakoras and paneer stuffed relleno and lunch box. Food was overall delicious. Interior is interesting creativity with bricks but could have been better. Seating could have been little more comfier.

Elliott Kozulak

Highly recommend the Paneer Poutine an the Gol Guppa Shots to start. Delicious!

This is my first fusion experience of Indian food and I absolutely loved it. The tandoori chicken was amazing. I tasted nothing like it before. The chicken korma and lamb saag were good and the shrimp with coconut sauce was ok. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. I would definitely go back whenever I visit Nashville.

Best Indian food I have ever had! Good quality and prices are reasonable. For some Nashville visitors wanting to try some new food, this is definitely the place to go. The service was also really good - when you visit, make sure you ask for Victoria!

I heard a great review about this place for dinner but we didn't really enjoy our breakfast. The ambience is what makes it get 3 stars.

Starrlite DeCook

Delicious food that took a quite a bit of time. Great atmosphere. Wish their brunch selection was bigger.

I visited Nashville three years ago and wanted to try this place. This time I finally got a chance and this place is a disappointment. This place claims to be fine dining experience with exorbitant prices. The interiors are good and they have projectors showcasing Indian music videos from golden era. As for the food we ordered the following: paneer tikka poutine - one of the best part of our evening. We really enjoyed this appetizer which was unique and different from the regular appetizer options you get at an Indian restaurant. I wish we had just ordered this. Paneer bhunna - this is was something different but we could only taste tomatoes and black pepper. We were thinking to just stick to basic. garlic parmesan naan - 0 marks for this one. I think Chef Maneet Chauhan needs to train her staff on how to make a good naan. The naan was soggy and we were pretty much done with this restaurant. If they can't make a garlic naan god knows how well trained the chefs are at this place. tandoori roti - we didn't bother to eat this one. This place is a utter disappointment and we will never come back again. Instead of Top 10 best restaurant in Nashville they should fall under Top 10 worst restaurant.

Great catering service! Chauhan catered a Christmas party for our company (upwards of 130 people) and it went off without a hitch! Kelly and her team were on time and set up was quick and efficient. Some of our group didn't specify allergies ahead of time and I had to call her three times after they'd left to check ingredients. She patiently and graciously called the chef multiple times to verify ingredients for us. They were also very responsive and touched base with us several times before the event to ensure nothing was missed, as well as checked in afterwards for feedback. The food was incredible and they can easily accommodate vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free needs. We'll certainly be using them again!

Anthony Cobb

surpassed all expectations!! As we were unfamiliar with Indian food, the bartender helped us with our selections, and we were blown away.

Erin R.

Excellent experience! Our waiter was fantastic, he made suggestions and helped us make our decisions. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had the korma with shrimp and it was creamy, slightly sweet and had the lightest hint of spicy. It was perfect! I can't wait to go back!

Lee McCroskey

Middle eastern menu. Great atmosphere. The dishes look and taste great. You will drop some cash though.

Scott Tackett

One of my favorite food experiences of all time, XOXO I lived in England and am familiar with Indian cuisine, I was blown away by the food and service

arjun gupta

The reason I gave 2 stars and not zero was because the service was good. The food was flavorless and the drinks were ok ok as well. The price was really high too for the overall experience. The ambience is well done.

Tim Enkeboll

My wife and I love this restaurant! The tandoori fries were incredible and our entrees where to die for! The fusion of classic Indian meals were not overdone, but perfectly balanced. If in Nashville, we will always try and come here!

Rohith Tatipamula

The best Indian restaurant in Nashville, hands down! Ask for Kristen, she was fantastic! Props to this restaurant, their staff & food is absolutely top notch!

Jean Roland

WOW!! We had a private event tonight in the upstairs room. What a great experience!! The food was delicious, the beverages were amazing! Miri kept everything moving smoothly while Katie made sure our guests had the beverage of their choice. Ask for them! Our VIP's went home full and happy!!

Carter Routh

It's alright. I know a lot of people that think it's great, but those people are vegetarians who don't know how to cook for themselves. If you want good Indian food, go to Mysore Palace in Cool Springs or Taj on Nolensville. Still, this place is alright. It's really not bad.

Sukanya Paul

Signature Indian cuisine.. Celebrity chef.. Great ambience

Shray Gilotra

Indian restaurant situated in Nashville. Reservation based. Good ambience and good food. Like the service. Ordered “Stop monkeying around” which was more of a desert than appetizer. some veg taco dish and chole kulcha. Food was quite refreshing in taste.

Laura Bauer

A place you certainly should stop at. The food is unique and delicious. They also have a great cocktail program.

mike lewis

Wow! Interesting and tasty dishes. Very creative. Staff is friendly and service oriented. If you're I'm Nashville put this place on your short list of restaurants!!!

Under seasoned and Underwhelmed When my wife suggested we go to this restaurant, I was very excited as we both like Indian food. The interior and exterior of the restaurant is a great space and more of an urban warehouse kinda vibe. Unfortunately upon entering, I was met with, well, the opposite of southern hospitality. The one hostess was on the phone and didn’t acknowledge us, while the other one looked at us, said nothing and continued to sort menus. After a couple minutes we were lucky enough to have the one on the phone make eye contact and give us a finger sign meaning wait a couple more minutes till I am off. We didn’t have a reservation so they sat us at a high top in the bar, which was completely acceptable. Once again the untalkative one walked us over to our table, not making any eye contact, said nothing and gave us our menus. Our waitress, who also doubled as a bartender was very helpful. She was knowledgeable on the menu and we proceeded to order the hot chicken pakora and the puffed semolina balls. The pakora had all the makings of a great dish, unfortunately the batter was somewhat soggy and the chicken had absolutely zero seasoning, ie. Salt on it. If you were to remove the soggy breading, the chicken was very tender and moist, but with zero flavor. The semolina balls were amazing and a fun way to start a meal. For my main dish I chose the lamb with saag which once again had zero seasoning. The cook on the lamb was great, very tender, however I don’t think there was one grain of salt used during the cook. Any seasoning the sauce had was immediately swallowed up in your mouth by the flavorless lamb. My wife got the meat and three and unfortunately the meat and all 3 suffered from the lack of seasoning. Hers came with naan and I had contemplated ordering myself a side, cause we both love it and I am so glad I didn’t. This is honestly probably the first time we left and Indian restaurant with naan still on the table. There was no butter, no cilantro and no crisp on it. At one time, it looked like there was, now our was just a flavorless sponge used to soak up our under seasoned dishes, which literally sucked any possible flavor they may have had out of them. The icing on the cake to this whole meal is the fact there were no salt shakers at the table and when I requested salt I was given a ramakin from the bar with salt used to rim a margarita glass. That was definitely a first! To be quite honest for a couple apps and a couple entrees I expected so much more for $87 with tip. Trader joes makes a pretty good frozen garlic naan and if you crisp it up in the oven with a little ghee, you wouldn’t be disappointed. I truly do wish I could give this restaurant a better review as it’s a great concept and great space, but there was just a complete lack of execution. I would have left one star for the food, but the waitress was the only reason I gave it two...

I have mixed feelings about our dinner here. We decided to go to Chauhan for my birthday because of the great reviews. Let me start with the place it is nice but if feels crowded and the level of noise inside makes it uncomfortable. The waitress was attentive, he was good. Our appetizer, their poutine was amazing and the chai beer was great too. Then it went down the hill I order the 3 sides one protein ( I think that was the name) Wich was lentils, chickpeas rice and chicken, super spicy but not in a good senses the were flavorless, I couldn't finish it. My husband order the seafood bowl which has a similar problem but his was edible. Let me tell you that we are used to spices and that we love Indian food, but this one gives us hard time after that. We felt that we have eaten a bomb that were couldn't process. We have to cancel our reservations for the rest of the week ruining my celebration. In the end they brought me a banana cake with a Candle, which was a nice touch. So as you see I have mix feelings. Maybe Ill go back for the poutine and beer but nothing else.

AMAZING Indian food in such a hip environment! The menu was so creative and I love the twist on Indian favorites. Was truly a delight to taste all the items and I love the Nashville influences bleeding into Indian style dishes. The cocktails were also very creative, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the ones I had ordered which is the only reason I put a 4 instead of 5 star rating. Will definitely have to come back for brunch!

Swati Singh

This place exceeded my expectations. The service was great. The non veg dishes were very good. However, the veg options fell short. All the dishes were VERY rich. Wine selection was great. Love te fresh fusion eye with which the dishes were created.

Sathiya

Good place for continental lunch and dinner. You will get verity of Indian food

Phinizy Wimberly

Excellent modern Indian food with chic vibes. Service was awful but Im assuming we were just unlucky with our server (hence -1 star). Ill be back.

Mary Jo Snavely

Everything was very tasty and a really fun take on what comfort food with an Indian twist. Relaxed BoHo ambience. Only complaint -- everything was a bit over salted. Seemed unnecessary given all the wonderful spices and flavors.

Leah Moss

Excellent food atmosphere and service

Rebecca Harris

Fantastic food. A really cool mix of classic Indian dishes and Nashville favorites. Our server Liz was cheerful, accommodating and personable. Cocktails were creative and tasty. An overall great dinning experience!

Lauren Wilder

I liked the atmosphere.

I have been pretty fortunate in my life in that I have had the opportunity to travel to many different places in my life. Every time I travel, I have an excellent opportunity to try out new restaurants and boy did this one not disappoint! Chauhan Ale & Masala House was an incredible experience! The food was absolutely phenomenal and the selection of drinks was very impressive! If you like Indian Food and are in Nashville, this is a must!!

Paul Mampel

Actually found both the Korma and Tika to be pretty bland. Very fresh, clean taste but bland. The okra was awesome.

Sarah Gawel

The flavor of the paneer tikka masala was divine, but I was actually really let down by my dining experience. I drove from Chicago to Nashville with super high expectations. I arrived for my reservation 15 mins early and saw 2 booths were available in an area of the restaurant most guests were gathered. I wanted to be where the excitement was so I asked to be seated at a booth. I was told I had to be seated elsewhere due to reservations within the next 30-45 minutes. I was understanding and accepted to sit at a table instead. The cocktail list is remarkable and I was pleased with my choice, however I was embarrassed when my server examined my ID for several minutes. The dinner menu has so many great selections. I went with my favorite dish- paneer tikka masala. It was absolutely delicious. If you are weary of spice, this masala is not spicy at all. I LOVE spice so I ordered green chilis on the side and was given a green chili sauce instead. It gave me the heat I wanted, though I prefer the flavor of fresh green chilis. I also ordered the roti which I found to be mediocre. It was not warm and in my opinion very fluffy and dry for roti. I was also shocked when the order of roti only came with one piece. The rice was not very warm and the amount of rice was not sufficient for the amount of masala. The server asked if I wanted more rice so of course I said yes. I was unaware there would be an up charge for the extra rice and the green chili sauce. The food was satisfying for the most part, but I found it to be over priced for what was provided. I was upset to see the two reserved booths remained unseated during my entire dining experience. I am hopeful my next visit will be better. Most people seemed to be really enjoying their time. I wish I could have been in a better spot to see more of what they were ordering so I could plan my next meal.

Leigh Clark

The website said a full menu would be available however, only the brunch menu was available. Ordered my burger medium and it was charred in some places. Really wanted some good Indian food but there was not much on the brunch menu. The live music was so loud you had to yell to be heard. Actually a very disappointing experience.

Sneh P

Good drinks and appetizers, but main courses are bland and tasteless. Being of Indian heritage I know Indian food, this is by far the blandests sags I have ever had. The apps were really great.

Vijay Sheoran

Well, could have been much better food.

Sarah Stramel

Great twist on Indian food! Chef Kristin is awesome. Plenty of free parking too during the day.

Archana Mani Srinivasan

Amazing food. We had the best waiter here. He helped pick and choose all the drinks and food. Trust the waiters here folks.

Praveen Roberts

Service was excellent, Food was ok The duck was a little overdone. The calamari had too much filler and not enough calamari. The ambiance is modern bar

John S

Nice atmosphere free valet parking lamb meat was delicious. ,spicy calamari and you'd like to have a drink the bar was quaint not everything is for everybody but there's something for somebody when you go there they're very polite and helpful to get you what you want and how you want it can't give them five stars but I'll give it a four and a half

Saeedoo

The owner only care about money. I work for a sign company and we wore installing the sign at a restaurant next door. We get there 6:00 in the morning and we parked on their lot without knowing. when the restaurant open the guy see us working and he doesn't even have a courtesy a professional courtesy to come and tell us that this is his parking lot. Just call the tow truck company and tow our van. I just hope he's very proud of what he did. In my world You don't treat workers like this You have at least a professional courtesy of telling them can you please move your vehicle. Good luck with your business and I hope the new restaurants in town will take all your business.
