Very nice restaurant / pub. Excellent service and a great selection of steaks, sandwiches, and salads. Very good selection of beer and, of course, they offer Tennessee’s only Jack Daniel’s Whiskey.

Our food was fair, at best. The restaurant was cool, using an old Depot building to good use. That being said, it did smell musty. Service was mediocre. While it is unlikely that we will stop again, it does seem popular with the locals. Perhaps we caught an off night ...

Our Pheasant hunting Party has been coming to Mitchell South Dakota for over 30 years and have eaten at the Depot on many of those trips! Sadly I must say that their food and service has rapidly declined over the last 6 to 7 years! As a group of 12 we will never eat there again! This year not one of us had the correct food we ordered and had to be repeatedly sent back, the quality of the food was way below average and for 5 individuals the prime rib was so bad that only a few bites of the meat Could be eaten! The rest went to the hunting dogs! We literally waited 1.5 hours after our meal to get our bills corrected as no one of us had the correct bill! One individual go charged for all of our dinners and had to have the charges taken off his credit card account! Avoid his establishment at all costs if you want to avoid being hungry, angry and frustrated! Worst restaurant I have been in for 10 years! There all Bozo’s!

The atmosphere is the best thing about this bar! It's in an old train depot and even features some outdoor seating where you can sit and watch the trains go by. But the food and service are just okay, nothing special to write about.

Such a cool restaurant!! Its in an old railroad depot that's been restored. Food was very tasty and service was great. There's also a few G scale trains up high on the walls (not running when we were there, but apparently do run)

The place is historic and has a nice bar and dining area. First item I ordered was delicious and made to order perfectly. As a bonus our waiter noticed my mother's order was wrong right as he took the plates to us and got a fresh plate right away.

As a business owner myself at seven or clock tonight we walked into the depot. Greeted and seated. Right away ordered service was ok. Got. My steak not. Over great but ok. My fiances food was terrible burger soggy and straight pink asked to make. New one they said they couldn't. Because they had steaks on owner was a piece of cap. After asked to speak with him.. As a business owner in Mitchell I will never do business here again.

Stipped for lunch tonteybthem out. The Depot burger was great! Grilled like we wanted it, a half pound of perfect. Our server, Mercedes, was on her A game- drinks always filled, food out hot and fast and our checks ready when we had to go. Would love to try this place in the evening.

It's hard to find a quality bar and grill on the road, but we found it, great atmosphere, drinks, and food, try the Buffalo steak it was great, quality place with a touch of history mixed in, also great attentive service!

was in town for a soccer tournament. Walked in and sat down, kids and wife wanted to leave because of the smell. I talked them into staying, since I liked the place when I visited in college. Wife had a salad and a bowl of chili, not sure how you screw up chili, but tasted very odd. It was as if they sprinkled chili powder on it right before it was served, not spicy but just tasted way off... I had a half pound burger. When asked how I wanted it I stated medium rare. What I got was a well done patty of gray meat. Not burned, but gray. Tasted as you would expect something gray to taste, no taste, no seasoning. Could have been boiled for all I know. We drove through Taco John's immediately after leaving. I was really hoping for a better meal. It's a cool place, local and downtown, not a chain.

Unique local joint in the middle of town. We had a fairly long wait for food to get to our table but the waitress recognized and apologized and gave us desert on the house. Moral of the story, please go to the depot and enjoy, just make sure you have plenty of time. Partake in a couple of the 30 different beers on tap.

We stopped into The Depot for lunch after visiting The Corn Palace. The menu was great and the service was exceptional. My friend and I have been on a 2 week road trip and are 1 day from being home. I ordeted the Ham Club Sandwich and it was the best sandwich I have had on our entire road trip. Great food, service, and prices.

Rarely do you find a server/cook (chef-team) who has the ability to hear, understand and internally communicate the description of what you order and actually provide an exciting result that matches your verbal description. Crispy fries (crunchy outside and soft inside) that were not overdone..... Rarely found. Burger to be charred on the outside but not dry and overdone on the inside..... Perfect! You gotta try the 1/2 lb Blue Cheese Bacon Burger!

Good service, drinks are close to the best, they could change their menu to include healthier food. ..romaine & spinach salads, fesh vegetables, especially the seasonal ones that are obviously quite available at this time of the year. Really Corn is not a vegetable, which is sometimes the only vegetable. Their soups are very salty, could be it is not made from scratch.

Not a ton of options for vegetarians but the grilled cheese was good. The fries tasted formerly frozen but not bad for a road trip stop in. Someone in my group ordered a salad and was pleased with it. The lettuce was fresh iceburg with some peppers and olives thrown in on top.

Took 20 minutes to be seen after being seated. There was a bug in my drink, and 2 of our orders were delivered wrong 40 minutes later. (The store was not at all busy). Last of all when we finally got our food, it was mediocre at best. Don't waste your time here.

This place is a gem. Family run in a reclaimed train depot. Friendly staff and great food. Structure still has original woodwork from it's early days as a passenger depot. A must try.

Great place to stop off for a burger (Buffalo with bacon & blue w/BBQ custom order was delicious!) and a couple brews if you have a free evening in Mitchell.

Friendly atmosphere and awesome chicken wings! Sorry that's all I ate. However, I usually take the skin off if wings and just eat the meat but here, the skin was crispy and the sauce was amazing so I ate those things to the bones! Paired with a nice glass of Riesling and I was happy. Lost one star only due to being a bit pricey.

I've had the opportunity now to eat and drink here a few times now. Love the look and style of the ole train depot that had been turned into a restaurant and taproom. The server's are always very friendly and knowledgeable. The food specials are delicious and on point. The beer section is outstanding! I just love the soups that are available as well. And the price isn't going to break the bank. Great for families, parties or singles. You won't have a single feeling of loneliness.

If you are traveling across South Dakota or a local, this is a great eatery! Well worth the stop with a good variety. The staff was extra nice & helpful. For a crowded Friday evening, our food was prepared quickly & correctly. Moderate prices for this area. $90 for a family of 5 & we drank water. Great atmosphere too!

We love to eat at The Depot!!! Every time we are traveling we try to plan our trip to stop in and enjoy the delicious Beer Cheese soup and service was excellent!!! Wish we could get some shipped to Tennessee!!! Was there for three months working on a pipeline job staying in Mitchell and ate there often! It's worth the stop

My wife and I come here about once a month for date night. We always get the same thing. The beef tip. It is amazing on how different they are cook every time we go in. Some times they are cooked awesome with a lot of mushrooms and the right amount of peppers and onions. My wife loved it because they don't cook it with seasoning. I would have give the depot 5 stars but our visit last night was just ok. I had the Cajun beef tips and they must have cook our beef tips next to each other because my wife's had it on here too. Then there was next to no mushrooms on them. I was done eating before my wife other food even came out. The serve we got was great but someone in the kitchen dropped the ball this time. I'm hoping the next time we are out at the depot it is as good as it is to be do or us.

Had the battered fried cod and it was bland. The fish had no taste because it lacked seasoning. My bill came to over $62 for two people. Loved the history behind the building but not the food. The raspberry lemonade cocktail was delicious. It was also nice to see four mature women playing cards in the covered porch area. We tried this place because we were just passing through and the food was a disappointment to me. My husband had the sirloin tips and raved about how juicy and delicious they were. My mother ordered a chicken sandwich but sent it back because the chicken was burnt. She did not replace it with anything else. I gave three stars because there was good and bad during our visit. The waitress was very busy but nice and attentive.

Had a 5 top table...table ordered steak tips, steak, burger, shrimp. Every plate served was COLD after honestly waiting more than an hour. The waitress then stated "well I'm not sure why it would be cold" to which we had to state our "case". Who knew you need to argue when you have a bill total of 100 bucks. My poor mom had to tell her twice that her mashed potatoes were cold. Terrible terrible service. Then the manager acted arrogant and irritated. SAD deal this used to be a favorite places to go when visiting Mitchell. Wont be back.

We really enjoy The Depot. It is the town's train Depot transformed into a restaurant many years ago. My Great Grandfather worked out of that Depot and my other Great grandfather, grandfather and dad used to unload off the trains there for our family business raw product. Not only is the history great, but the staff and menu are great. Hubby and I enjoy going on Saturdays for lunch and seeing what the 3 specials for the day are, and yummy soup of the day is. Regular menu favs are the French Dip sandwich, great burgers, gourmet Mac n cheese, steak, buffalo burger. yep, buffalo roam just north of town if you want to see some, and these burgers are a favorite of relatives visiting. My hubbies name isn't Norm but but they greet us like it is...cheers.
