Our waitress was very attentive and kept the coffee flowing. She brought extra napkins before we had to ask. Food was good. We ordered oatmeal with a sausage patty and.the 3 Deuces. Plenty of food to eat. We were very pleased overall with our experience.

We very disappointed in this restaurant. Although the service was great, the food was not. We could have gone to any restaurant but picked them after reading some of their reviews. We went in expecting to see homemade fries and buffalo burgers but instead what we got was a frozen sculpted meat patty that was over cooked and decorated with condiments and frozen french fries ... all for the hefty price of $12.95 EACH and the advertised online price was $7.95 each. When we brought the price discrepancy to their attention, their comment was something to the effect of ...that's what gets people in here!! We would never recommend this restaurant and now you know the pricing and quality of food both stink!!

Wife ordered house fries got hash browns, I ordered white toast got wheat, food was cold when got it. Took two dollars off for mistakes. New cook was blamed but where is their trainer or boss? Would not recommend.

Best breakfast from a diner I’ve had in a long time. Drove for miles and miles looking for a place to eat on a trip to Mount Rushmore and looked this place up online and it looked good, so I thought I’d try it. Reasonably priced, clean, and cool 50s decor - all original! If you want a great place to stop at for breakfast or a good meal this place can’t be beat!

Ate dinner and breakfast here. Had four people in our party and everyone enjoyed their meal. Good home cooked food. Their t- bone steak dinner was tender and prepared the way you want. Nice salad bar with bread pudding as a choice. Good homemade soup. Breakfast was delicious. We stayed at the motel across the street, Iversons, highly recommend staying there to. Get 10% off breakfast at restaurant if you stay at Over sons. Both places were clean and well taken care of. Waiter and waitress very friendly and attentive!

We were just spending the night there and got dinner at a random restaurant. This was the one. Their food was a bit pricey. They only thing that wasn't absurd was the French Au jus sandwich(my order). It turned out they didn't have the juice so I had to change my order. I ended up getting a not so stellar Buffalo Burger for a bit over $10. Another person ordered an average steak for $14. It had a lot of fat still attached, it wasn't trimmed off. The baked potato that came with it was room temperature, not freshly baked. They only had butter, no sour cream. Just warning that the food isn't good and the prices aren't either.

Exactly what I needed. Fast, fresh, and attentive service. Just the way anyone wants breakfast when they have had enough of "road food". Across the street is Iversen Inn, super clean and Mr. Iverson is genuinely friendly. Also next to the Rusty Spur, saloon and steak house. Murdoh may not be a vacation destination but this spot is a hat trick.

The salad bar was horrible, frozen lettuce, over salted soup, mushy tomatoes, slimy mushrooms, and way over priced. They only stay in business because it's a tour bus stop.

Great service and hometown feel. Fed my kids 3 and 4) and myself breakfast with the stuffed hash browns and a tall stack of pan cakes. We split a cinnamon roll. God's place to see. Such a hometown feel they had a pair rollerblades for sale at the register. So awesome!

I visited this restuarant on October 27 and ordered "3 Dueces" for $7.99. Great bang for your buck as I received 2 massive pancakes, 2 pieces of bacon, and two fresh eggs. Friendly servers and cool retro styling inside, I love the vintage atmosphere and fresh food. Next time I come through Murdo, I'll stop by again.

If you're passing through Murdo, this is the place to eat. Excellent food, friendly and fast service. Everyone in our group found something they enjoyed, from vegetarian to carnivore. Prices were a little spendier than one might expect, but portions were large and it was good. We've stopped other places in Murdo and paid more for worse food and nasty service. We'll definitely be stopping again when passing through Murdo.

I was the only diner at 9pm on a Friday night. I ordered a steak and a lemonade and a water. The water glass was so small that it literally came a shot-and-a-half at a time, and I had to ask the waitress to keep filling it up. The lemonade was two and a half bucks and was only about twice the size of the tiny water glass. My steak was bland, and I had to ask for A-1 just to finish it. If I could say anything good, the hashbrowns were decent, and they had green onions on the salad bar, which was a little bigger than the one at the Rusty Spur. I had to ask for my check by walking up to the register (still the only diner in the restaurant), and when I gave only a $1.09 tip, the waitress got cold and didn't thank me or say goodbye. I even had to beg for the receipt afterwards. No wonder I was the only diner.

I'm driving cross country from Philadelphia to Seattle, and stopped by for lunch after Google told me there was a restaurant 30minutes away. I'll be completely honest... This place doesn't look like anything special from the road, and looks even less impressive inside. But don't worry about esthetics, the food it really good. They do it well here.

The ambiance here is very small town cafe. Old chairs, old booths. The food was good, but not overly impressive. The wait staff was sufficient, but not overly engaged. The pie was VERY good. While I cannot enthusiastically endorse stopping here, overall it was a good value and a good stop with the entire family. We enjoyed our meal and would consider going here again if passing through the area. It was better than just hitting another chain restaurant or bar/grill.

Yikes. I don't like to leave poor reviews on family restaurants, but this one was a bit rough. We were there in July of 2018, and there were ants crawling all over the booth. The food wasn't great all around, and the chicken was nearly inedible. Not a good experience, I hope this is an anomaly!

I was on a bus trip with thirty people and we stopped at the Star Family Restaurant today for lunch. The cook and the servers are to be commended for the excellent service we all received. They took our individual orders served us and refilled our cups, when needed, and we were out of there in less than one hòur. Now that is what I call service! And with a smile! They are located in Murdo, SD.

Wonderful food! Came here wanting a bite to eat off of I-90, as it was getting late in the afternoon. We got the buffalo burgers, which were in a way better than what we got at a more upscale place. Sure, it is not a fancy restaurant, but for someone that eats pretty much anything that says F-O-O-D, this is a good establishment that I will come back to many times when I pass through!

On the road looking for lunch and stopped here, old building, but clean, the waitress steered me to a Indian Taco, never had one of these so I gave it a try, it was good! had to use knife and fork, and it was a little greasy, but that's what made it good. Nice stop if your on the road.

We originally had planned to stop at a nearby sub shop connected to the truck stop near the interstate, but the line was out the door. Not wanting to wait, we drove down a side road a bit and found Star Diner. The inside is very dated--a step back into the 1960s(?), but the down-to-earth servers made up for it. They made you feel right at home. The food was good and came out quickly. Definitely family friendly.
