I am a local and have eaten here many times. Quality food and service is a rarity unfortunately. Today the beer was the best part. Food came out before the appetizer and was over cooked and then cold. Appetizer was never put in by staff and then rushed and brought out. Guess I will think twice next time :(

If you're into going somewhere where the server pretends you don't exist and you can sit there for 2 hours for a simple meal for two...then this place is for you. We waited 25 minutes before we got our beverages, got our food delivered by the cook because the waiter was screwing off, waited another 20 minutes or so after we finished eating to get our check, and then he wasn't back to pick it up for another 20 minutes after that. The place wasn't even 1/3rd full. My recommendation is just go to Applebee's. Better, more attentive service, way better prices, and better food (which says A LOT).

Food was very good and restaurant was very nice and spacious. Great selection of beer and drinks. Service was a little slow. Only 1 server for the whole place. Sign when we walked in said "Please wait to be seated". No one came to seat us so we seated ourselves. They also had a very nice patio with a bar and outside seating.

We had a wonderful experience! Adam was an amazing server, friendly, knowledgeable about the area. The adult grilled cheese was ridiculously good!! Their seasonal Autumn Mule was also great!!

Poor service, warm beer, took 50 minutes to get food (chicken wings)! Appears they care more about the rainbow flag then they do taking care of customers and serving food! Waited 20 minutes for the check!!! Try somewhere else!!!

We came in on a sunday afternoon and they took almost 30 min for us to take our drink order, and they happened to be out of burgers and salads for the day, which was a little odd. Overall not bad, but I would recommend not going on a sunday.

We got into Rapid City and stumbled upon this place. We ended up eating here every day. Everything was exceptional and we had so much fun with the energetic staff. The decadent Mac and Cheese was a group favorite. The sandwiches were over the top delicious. Our group tried so many things on the menu sharing everything among us and no one didn't enjoy what they tried. Exceptional cocktails and a great beer list helped wash everything down.

Portions are small, the fries are weak and floppy, the energy is a touch too hip for my taste, you see a lot of dorks with old-timy curled mustaches. The food is priced high but theres decently rich flavor in the entrees. The fried pickles have an great amount of character and flavor, they taste terrific. Pair those with a Shepherd's Pie and you really have a magnificent meal, but for a guy like me you'll need both to be full unless you already have a belly full of beer. Regarding the beer, the tap selection is respectable and and they have a lot of choices for bottled beer. The outdoor section is one of the best in town and it's packed at 11p every night. Can't skimp on the fries, half of the orders that go out probably have them on it. Beef em up.

Went for my husband's Christmas party, wasn't enthused about the shorter "restaurant week" menu due to it being a reservation. Then told us they were out of the only decent thing on that menu, then later came back and told us they could make it happen. Then supposedly they had a computer issue and they had to retake our order. All in all, it was TWO HOURS before we got our food! Still had to go eat taco Bell afterwards because I was still hungry after the cup of food I got. Thank you to the waiter that was patient and had to deal with all of this!

Had a great late afternoon lunch here with my family. We had a great server, Adam, who was very helpful and accommodating to my dairy intolerance. My pulled pork sandwich was delicious, but the thick-cut crispy sweet potato fries were definitely the highlight of the meal. :)

Not recommended. Bartenders and most servers have unknown attitudes like a childish HS kid, specifically two rude males. They don't realize everything echoes in the building, but talk so much trash about customers at the wait stations. Kitchen staff is 99% male but they somehow know everyone's business and gossip worse than a miserable old bag convention while smoking weed next to dumpsters out back. If you report it to the floor manager, each one is so nice to hear from you but so quick to cause trouble with your concerns.

Honestly, had to revise my review from 5 stars from a while back. This place has been lacking lately. Obviously understaffed. They completely forgot about seating us. Maybe it was a bad night, but man....what a shame.

We were seated prompt, however it took 2 hours for us to leave. Service was poor!! Food was just ok. Chicken strips were over cooked, Rubin was meh. I unfortunately looked inside the kitchen post eating waiting to get our bill and the kitchen was absolutely filthy. I would have never ate here had I looked at the kitchen first. So so so gross!!!

We were in Rapid City for three nights and all those nights we came here to eat - it was that good! The service on the first night was great but the second night not so much. The food was very good. I would highly suggest the sweet potato fries with maple butter. It was probably one of the most delicious things ever. I had the buffalo meatloaf and I enjoyed every bite - the best entree I ate there. Second night, I got the salmon, which I wish I would have passed on. The sauce on it was awful and the grilled veggies were mushy. Third night we just had apps - tomato mozzarella and deviled eggs. Both were very good.

In all honesty we may have hit this place on a bad night but it wasn't the best experience. I think they forgot about us completely after being seated so we waited 30 minutes or more to be helped. After being served multiple menu items were not available. The table behind us had a different server and all we caught was the waiter apologizing to an angry group and offering to pay for their meal. Once served the waiter was friendly and the food decent. Perhaps on a different night it would be excellent but my next time through town I'll definitely try somewhere else.

After reading these reviews, it makes me wonder why someone would wait and wait and wait some more for poor service. If they aren't willing to serve you, then they don't want your business. If I have to wait more than 10 minutes to be greeted, I leave and try another place.

Excellent spot to relax after a long week, whether by yourself or with friends and family. The food selection is a pleasant mix of "pub grub" and more modern American staples, plus the bar is a very well run with a nice selection of local brews. Be sure to ask the bartender about the "Blind Lion", as it's a hidden gem nestled right under Murphy's!

Blind Lion - Very disappointing... made a 7:30 reservation during "restaurant week" and we showed up to have the host tell us that they were out of 1 of 2 appetizers and 2 of 3 entrees. So we had 1 app option and 1 entree option. Decided to go to Botticellis instead and what a great choice... 7:30 on a Friday night and you're out of 3/5 app and entree options... sad because we heard so many great things about this place...

I don't even know where to start my boyfriend and I sat at the bar and I have never been treated so poorly by anyone the way I was treated by their female bartenders. They all know my boyfriend and they all kept coming up to him and it was like I wasn't even there. I was completely ignored and when I wasn't just got glares. I will never go back into that establishment and if someone asks I will tell them that they have the absolute worst customer service and not to bother going there. I have worked in customer service and would never treat anyone the way I was treated by their employees. It's a safe bet I will never enter that place again!!!

This is definitely a place you would go if you were looking for a good time. There were so many things to do at this bar! Our server was great and had a lot of great suggestions for beer. The food was maybe a little pricey, but pretty good. They brought out water and treats to our dog (some regular ones and minty ones for her breath!) Which was very sweet. Overall, we had a pretty good experience!

OMG, Best food in Rapid by far. I got the buffalo meatloaf and I was very happy with the taste and sauce. I highly recommend going here, the meal changed my life and made other restraunts dishs look like bugs in gravy with chicken broth being poured on the bugs as they were running about. all in all I love the meal and think everybody should try there food since it is the best in the state. even travel channel came to the restaurant since it was so insanely good!

The food and atmosphere was awesome! We ate outside and played bocci ball and corn hole while waiting for our food. Menu was delicious and unique and offered something for the meat-eaters, vegetarians and picky eaters in our group. A little on the pricey side but we loved everything we got. My only complaint is that our server (who was super friendly and nice) got way too busy or had too many tables to service because he did forget several items we requested and took forever to bring our check but was literally sprinting around trying to get all his tables taken care of. They needed more servers for sure.

I had ordered a sirloin, it was very underwhelming and dry. The mashed potatoes that came with it was extremely bland. Service was not that great, despite the waitress being around our table constantly, she never asked if we wanted more drinks or gave us any prompt service or attention. She seemed nice but didn't really try to make us feel welcomed or valued.

Had a great work dinner here! Awesome patio with tons of seating. Shuffle board, bags/corn hole, and a nice bar. Really good beer selection. Lots of local options. I had the sirloin with chimichirri. So tasty!! Asparagus and mashed potatoes as sides. Really filling and good meal. Nice for sharing too. I also tried the sausage sampler. Loved the different types! They were very good. Fun display! Nice server. Lots of street parking. I would love to come again.

The NYC Standard's Review: One of the better places in RC. This is a difficult place to review because their sole issue seems to be Consistency. There is none. I had to visit multiple times to get a real consensus of what was going on here. Food ordered during off peak hours, off peak days, has quality issues. Over cooked, improper seasoning, tastes different than last week ,etc.. Food ordered during peak hours, during peak days, comes out flavorful, and typically what you ask for. Food Ordered off peak hours, on peak days, Comes out flavorful and cold. Steak and mash - either came out delicious - or stone cold mashed and luke warm steak. When you put out stone cold mashed potatoes it tells everyone that you are reheating food. For the price of the dish, there shouldn't be anything reheated. Servers are attentive, entertaining, and delightful. That is until they get busy and haven't done a table touch since you just needed that extra minute to discuss with the group what apps were being considered. Bar Tenders - Well they are the only group really holding a line of performance in this place. In a dozen visits an average wait for a greet once sitting is 30s to about 2 1/2 minutes. Tap is fresh, Bottles are cold, they check up on you, chat to the appropriate level with you to build that rapport. Come on Murphy's add in some Quality checks where needed and we understand you don't have your all stars on until the peak days and hours but come on...you are better than that! Will check back soon!

Dont usually do reviews, but after two bad experiences after our third time going. Figured I Should probably warn people about the 4.2 stars it shows. Ordered a coke, it only took asking the waiter 3 times and the manager to come over for it to come to out, not to mention after a hour, only half of our food order came out, the other two orders got forgotten about and the manager came down to try and solve the issue, ended up getting them to go, even then they put no efforts in the salad. They Just threw some lettuce and dressing in a container. The waiter was too ashamed to even bring us our check and had the manager do it. On a plus side, the chicken & chips were great.

Wonderful atmosphere. Televisions are perfectly placed and not intrusive to the dining area. We arrived Sunday evening at 7:30 PM and was timely seated. All the staff are good spirited which means they like being there. Ordered the award winning Buffalo Meatloaf and understand why the Travel Channel's Food Paradise highlighted this dish! Never had any meatloaf that comes close, sorry Mom. Everyone at the table was pleased with there entrees as well. Just a step across the street from the Rushmore Hotel. Traveling through, try it, you're gonna love it!

I, sincerely, understand what this restaurant is trying to do and applaud them for the effort. Unfortunately, the execution is severely lacking. Our server was great except for the personal contact which should be reserved for regulars but I witnessed being exercised with several tables. The prices are a bit exorbitant but expected in a tourist town. $18 for a double Basil is a bit much. My Salmon was well done and dry when I asked for medium. Probably should be able to cook fish in a fishing resort area. If I get out of here for under $100for an adult and child I will be surprised. In the end, I will find a true local spot and save the money from now on.

One of the best dining experiences in the area! The atmosphere is nice, the staff is super friendly and attentive. I ordered sausage sampler and Fancy friend pickles as an appetizer, sausages were flavorful and juicy, picked were awesome and crunchy. For the main course, I got a sirloin medium rare - cooked to perfection, super tender meat. the buffalo meatloaf, the meat is very tasty but is prepared it is more lean and grainy, enjoyed it! The beer selection here is very nice, everyone wi find something for their taste

We just stopped in after walking around downtown Rapid City. It has a sports-bar-like feel (sports on many TVs), but had some upscale twists on a few of the items on the menu. We had lunch, but had the option of ordering from the dinner menu as well (since it was about 2:30 PM when we arrived). Those who drink will likely enjoy the variety of offerings.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. As a tourist, I immediately felt welcome here, and the menu was a mixture of comfortable classics, and unique meals I just had to try. The beer is local, and reasonably priced, with clever and helpful descriptions. Staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and knows how to treat a guest from out of town. Would recommend to anyone, anytime. Also as a side note to the management: our server was Adam J, and despite being easily the busiest server there that night, he still found time to be genuine, and friendly. In addition, he gave us some tips about local scenery that turned out to be one of the greatest parts of our trip. Do everything in your power to treat this man right!

My wife and I went there last night and asked to sit outside. They sat us and that’s as far as it went. We sat there for 20min waiting to just place our drink orders and the waitress just walked around us like we were not even there. This is the second time this has happened to us. We ended up walking out. I love Murphy’s food but will not go back because of the continual bad service.

Very nice environment and friendly staff. The food is very well priced and tastes great as well. The only downside to this place is it's location. Parking is very hard to come by. All - in - all though it is a good place to seek out even if the parking is a little hard to find.

Very cozy atmosphere. Great staff and a good selection of draft beer. I had the fish and chips and they were great! The fish had a very light crispy coating, but the fries were over cooked almost chewy. My brother had their buffalo meatloaf and his experience was not as great. We ordered at the same time and I had my food in about 20 minutes. My brother's food didn't arrive until we reminded the waiter and came out about 45 minutes after we placed the order. He also mentioned the meatloaf was dry and the bacon was hard that wrapped the meatloaf.

Not so much for kids during the evening. Mac and cheese was good but only for aficionados of bleu cheese. Shepard's Pie is good. Host used our table to seat an extended party while we were washing hands. Did not feel comfortable with my kid there.

Went in to celebrate our son coming back from deployment. We were treated wonderfully from the moment we walked in the door on a Saturday night. Our server,(can't remember his name. Black handlebar mustache!) was so attentive and friendly. He made great beer and dinner suggestions. Our food was fabulous! Our family enjoyed listening to our son's adventures while being taken care of by a great staff.We will be coming back next time we visit our Airman.Thanks Murphy's for nice night.

Truly enjoyed my stop here at Murphy's. The location was easy to find and parking was accessible. I ended up sitting at the bar and grabbing some grub and a beer. The beer selection was great, the food was pretty good. I got the Reuben and found the corned beef to be a bit dry but the rest of the sandwich was good. Would return if I come back to Rapids City.

Awesome service, food came out very quickly, tasted delicious, large portions. My boyfriend and I we're starving and split the Mediterranean sampler and the buffalo meatloaf, and drooled over every other entree that walked by. The burgers, fish, salads, fries, and Mac n cheese all looked amazing and we're planning on returning to try the buffalo burger and fries

We've been fans of Murphy's since it opened. The food is predictably good and consistent but we're always on guard about what kind of service we'll encounter ... usually there's just not enough help and that was the case this visit with a lot of people on the patio.
