Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Portions were decent for the price point. I got the gumbo and really enjoyed it. Could have been a bit spicier, but I would order it again. They dont have a full bar; just wine and beer, but a good selection of both. I would return for sure. Good value overall.

The food was fine. Sadly they got rid of our favorite, the regular po'boy. Service was also fine. They explained that they had to make me a fresh sandwich because they cheese I didn't want had melted on. (Implying that they would otherwise have taken it off and given me the same sandwich).

Great food! Loved the food...service got sketchy when they got busy, but to be fair, when we came in the bartender waited on us, the wait staff came in after...we just got lost in the crowd, didnt get a chance to try peach cobbler. I loved the catfish, the collards, the ribs and the jambalaya! Definitely coming back for my cobbler!

I have tried tons of things at this place, and all of them are exceptional. From hush-puppies to pecan pie, the food here was pure bliss. My personal recommendation would probably be the Soul Food Platter, a plate packed full of basically all of the best things on the menu. Amazing. To you wonderful people at Jambonz, I was wondering if you could put some of the andouille sausage into the hushpuppy batter, and call it a "puppy dog"? Just an idea ;)

The only reason this place gets 4 stars is because I came here for lunch with a friend and the male server (Jerid as I've been told) at that time gave terrible service. He ignored my friend and only listened to me (a male) even when she spoke to his face. However. I came here again by myself during dinner and was more thoroughly impressed. The food was fantastic. The service is great. I lived in Louisiana for a long time and this place is a little slice of it. I do hope they expand their menu and include more available spices. They didnt have no TONY'S! but still worth it. Do step in. Best Cajun I've had in the North

Menu items are hit or miss, some good items done decent, others totally miss the mark. Service was a bit inconsistent, server seemed to be doing other things for excessive periods of time before returning to the table ( like 45 minutes). The seafood boil just appears to be steamed items, no flavor and not even tented red as if items were in a proper boil. The jambalaya was good and the red beans and rice are definitely a winner, the boudin appears to be nothing more than a glorified hush puppy way too large in size too much filling and not really a boudin ball at all, basically a oversized hushpuppy from flavor consistency and what appears to be a complete lack of rice or if it was in there it was ground down to a powder and mixed with to much bread filler. Will try it again, I have a lot of hope for this place it's a very diverse experience for the area.

The catfish was delicious and piping hot. The Riesling was cold and tartly sweet. The coleslaw spicy with black pepper. Warm pecan pie a la mode to finish and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Sweet jazz and soul in the background made the ambiance notable. For a modest $22 and change plus 20% tip. Nice job!

Being from Nashville, TN, I do know a thing or two about good Cajun cooking. We ordered the Special and the Cajun Feast' which had catfish, red beans & rice, jambalaya, cornbread and choice of side. It was all good. I especially enjoyed the jambalaya. Friendly staff. Nice decor. A real unique gem for Rapid City. If you like southern food, or you just want something different from the same old Midwestern fare, this is going to be where you want to go. I would most certainly recommend.

This was my first visit to this restaurant. I left highly dissatisfied. The portions for the price are abysmal. I ordered the gumbo with dirty rice and shrimp (dirty rice and shrimp are additional fees), fried okra, and cole slaw. All told the meal cost $25 and left me still looking for snacks. The gumbo wasn't anything I was hoping for after having been Louisiana and enjoying their food and hospitality. The okra was decent enough, but for $7 seems a bit much. The $3 cole slaw was surprisingly good, but was such a small portion I hardly had time to enjoy it. The atmosphere in the restaurant itself was pretty cool, but all things considered I will be finding lunch elsewhere in the future.

For anyone who has been to New Orleans and enjoyed the Cajun cuisine, and now somehow finds themselves in Rapid City, longing for the creole cooking of the Big Easy, this is your place. My mouth water every time I think about this place. No joke, more than 1500 miles away from the Crescent City and eating at your table, you couldn't tell unless you looked at the street outside of the door. In short, make a stop. You won't regret it.

Closest thing to Cajun your going to find in South Dakota! Great flavor, Crawfish Etouffee slowly brought on the heat and it kept rising without having to create it with habaneros or the like. Then cool down with some Huckleberry Ice Cream. Want to change up from the same dish day in and day out.... try Jambonz Deux... I highly recommend.

We were very disappointed. We had heard great things about Jambonz. We went on a night they had their shrimp and crab boil and live music. The live music was great, but when our platter arrived it seemed to be lacking. For the price point we were expecting a decent portion of food, but what came with our shrimp and crab was 1 baby potatoe and a 1/4 of corn on the cob. The plate was more empty space than food. Hardly what you think of for a crab or shrimp boil. The seasoning for the plate was good except the shrimp which had no flavor at all. We also didn’t get waters that we requested right away until halfway through dinner when we asked again . Service was sub par. Were hoping to have a great experience, but unfortunately we were not impressed.

Went here for a kid free date and loved the ambulance and amazing food. Highly recommend the soups, salads, and entered. Between the two of us we ordered the clam chowder soup of the day, gumbo with dirty rice, blackened shrimp etouffe special (deliciously spicy, not for the faint of heart), and turtle cheesecake. Service was prompt, attentive, and helpful when we couldn't decide between options.

I like the one in Sturgis more. This one isn't bad but they have some work to do. New wait staff is trying hard but maybe with more experience they can catch on. Quite the Ambiance in this place. Check it out if you are traveling and want something different and not typical to the Black Hills.

My first time eating at an authentic Cajun restaurant and it was amazing. I encourage anybody who likes or might like a bowl of gumbo or a shrimp Po Boy to hut it during the lunch hour. I had made gumboat home and there was no comoarison. Can't wait to get back to Rapid and try other menu items. It's very reasonably priced as well.
