What a neat atmosphere with great food! The atmosphere is similar to an Irish pub with an inviting atmosphere and eccentric but interesting decor. THE FOOD is also delicious. While I have been going there they have already changed their menu twice which is great for variety. I have enjoyed all the food I have ordered there. Try the brewed on site root beer as well if you get the chance.

We try to come to Dempsey's at least once a week. The pizza is the best around and they have a great selection of beer. Adam the bartender is always friendly and gives great service.

We had another wonderful meal in Watertown, last night. First we had the Chislic. It was great. They have so many yummy sounding choices on the menu that it was hard to decide what to get. I finally decided on the Wienerschnitzel & Spaetzle and it was amazing. He had the Isle of Skye Ribeye and said that it was good. Our server, Gabel, was really helpful.

Food was GREAT! HOWEVER, They were overstaffed in the front of house, and we couldn't even get our drinks in a timely manner, the waitress disappeared for about 15 Min. And it wasn't even busy, the Pub was filling up but not that busy. Very disappointed.

Maybe the best prime rib I've ever had. Smoked is absolutely the way to go... It was a little over cooked but it was the end of the night so it wasn't a problem. Flavor made it worth it!! Cup of jambalia was TOP NOTCH. My mom had the French dip and said it was delicious!

The experience started off great. We got our orders in and the food came out quickly. The food was very tasty. I ordered a beer, which took about 15 minutes to get to the table. Waited for another half hour before the waitress came back to get our check and a few beers to take home. The cans of beer were flat. To top it off, the men's room was the dirtiest restroom I have ever seen, including rest stops and campsite facilities. We won't be coming back.

Sat at the bar and had excellent service and got great info from the bartender. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Spinach Dip and the Green Haven pizza. The spinach dip with house made naan was some of the best we've ever had.

Pizza is great, so are the calzones. However, beer brewing and service are not their game. 1h15m to get a pizza for take out. 15m to get a beer, 1h until food was ready to go, only asked if we needed another beer once( we weren't done with our first, but didn't want one anyways). Save yourself the time and call it in, then take a long nap...it may be ready for pickup. Also, when we got our food the bartender just said, "check it to make sure it's right" then walked away. When she came back a few minutes later we obviously told her the order was not right (which she obviously expected). We paid, minus the tip for bad service, and were on our way. Won't go back again or recommend. Dempsey...I hope you read this. Update: July 2019 My original review holds true. Dempsey's truly isn't that great. Sure, there isn't much to choose from in Watertown, SD...but still. 15 min wait for drinks we could see at the bar prepared...while the waitresses talked to each other. Flagging down for silverware after we got our food. Cold burgers, not lukewarm...cold. Okay beer, bland but drinkable. Dirty table and chairs. I hear the pizza was decent, but I dont care. Everything else put a bad taste in my mouth, but figuratively and literally. Please teach your staff to provide better service. Sure, you gave a captive audience....its Watertown. Doesn't mean you can't have something great though, or at least mediocre.

Ate there last summer with relatives from Minneapolis. Food was Good, but we had to wait an incredible amount of time to get it after we ordered. In their defense, they were swamped. Orders were delivered with incorrect sides but we didn't want to wait any longer for replacement so we just accepted the incorrect ones! Back when I drank beer I really liked a couple if their in house brews. Just go when it's not too busy.

I love this place. I dont get through Watertown very often but When Im on I-29 I make time to stop. Dempsey's has a nice variety of beers and every one I've tried is excellent. The food is also very good- the pizza is one of my favorites. The place itself is in what appears to be an old brick commercial building. It is well maintained and the decorating looks like an old European castle. The prices are fair and the staff is always personable and quick to serve. It's worth getting off I-29 to stop in Watertown and hit Dempsey's.

Food was great. Service could've been better. I asked for chili before my meal. Never got it. When our food came, we asked for ranch. Never got it. Asked for water when waitress checked on us. Took about 5-7 minutes to get it. Asked for a box and our check and that took about 10 minutes. If you don't mind waiting, the food makes up for it.

We went here on the longest day of the year, and had the longest lunch of the year!! No joke. We seated our selves and got our menus and drink order put in relatively quickly. Then the waiting begin.... We were seated right next to the bar where the bartender puts the drinks for the servers, and quickly saw our drinks appear there.... and there they sat. They had to have been there 15 to 20 minutes before the bartender took notice and brought them over to our table. We'd see our server work other tables, but never came over to take our order. We attempted to flag her down numerous times. Finally we got her attention, and put our order in, and I ordered another drink fearing this wait would be as long as the other. Thankfully my drink was delivered quickly before she disappeared again. When the others at the table needed a drink, we had to flag down a different waitress to get those drinks orders put in. They quickly appeared on the bar, but this time we knew better. After about 10 minutes of seeing them sit there again, we just went and asked the bartender if we could take them. So now we had our second set of drinks, at least an hour in... Then we waited some more for the pizza. The PIZZA is the only saving grace! If we didn't know how good the pizza was ahead of time, we would have been out of there way sooner!! Needless to say, the pizza was amazing....and the only reason she got a tip. She was at our table needlessly 5 times after we got the food. At that point we just wanted to eat our pizza, and not hear what a crazy day it was. I should add we got there on a Friday afternoon around noon, and got done after 2 pm. We also saw a regular (he was a mug club member) sit down near us with his son and didn't get any service. He turned his mug upside down on the table and left. Good for him! Next time we'll order the pizza to go!

We've had varying degrees of service here. A year ago we had to wait a long time for our food. Recently we decided to give Dempsey's another try & we were not disappointed! The pizza was excellent - I can't wait to go back for more! Service was good.

The food is very good. The service was really amazing. We waited for only about 15 mins for our food. However, it is very expensive. For two entrees, one appetizer, and two drinks it was $50. The food is very filling and there is plenty of food. Will definitely go again.

We ordered takeout, first call we get after placing order sorry we out of mashed potatoes, ok no biggie. Sister goes to pick up order gets there oh btw we dont have baked potatoes ok again no biggie we changed those sides. Get home open food we missing an entire meal, I call in they say ok let me talk to manager and we never hear back. Next day still nothing so left them review they reply to review said we credited you partial credit the ceedit was 11.71 cents ok well the meal missing was 12 plus tax as it was 11 plus $1 upcharge for sweet potato fries. I also left a $5 tip before realizing how bad our service was going to be. The worst is a family member never got the meal and no one ever even called back. Never again customer service is not their specialty.

I ordered the fish n chips, not bad, second time I've ordered it and it's definitely good! The tartar sauce is unique, not like a normal tartar sauce but I encourage you to give it a fair try. I wasn't sure at first but its grown on me and I really like it now. My wife ordered the smoked prime rib, good Lord.... I've had a lot of steak before, some I've considered amazing and some I was told were amazing that were far from it. THIS, is not a steak.... This is melt in your mouth smoky pleasure on a plate. There's a lovely dipping sauce/juice (Au jus) that just complement the steak and raise the flavor up a level. My kids both got calzones, I don't know what they do to their marinara sauce but I've never had better.... I'm the guy that moved to SD from the West coast and was sorely saddened by the quality of food around. Dempseys completey knocks everything else out of the park and puts most of my West coast favorites to shame. Seriously, we drive here from Aberdeen just for Dempseys.... I've some family in Norwich and I'd love to chat with the chef sometime, regards and keep up the amazing work. On a side note the atmosphere is very nice and family friendly.

This place is my new favorite restaurant in NE SD. It was a pleasant surprise. Great food, good service, and amazing atmosphere. As we sat there, it did not feel like we were in Watertown, SD. It felt like we were transported to some cool trendy neighborhood in Minneapolis or something.

First off, the Pizza is very good. You really can't go wrong with them. They also have their own rootbeer that is pretty good. Everything else is not so much. This is a microbrewery but I find that only one of the beers is decent. They all kind of have an off taste. Burgers are big but dont have a whole lot of flavor. Stick to the pizzas.

Root beer is made in house and is amazing. They have an option called kamikaze for their pizza, they just make a random pizza, and it is great. We got one called the Harlem hero, it had buffalo sauce, mustard, tomato, ham, green pepper and mushrooms. Sounds weird, tastes amazing!

Sat at the bar, ordered the brewery's own light German beer with an orange slice, a ruben and tortilla soup. The beer was more of a refreshing tonic, which I enjoyed. The sandwich had delicious homemade bread, however, the combination of all the flavors from bread, meat, sauerkraut and sauce was not the best. The sandwich was more palatable when dipped in my soup. I sampled the brewery's pale ale and a lager, both were flat and neither of which I enjoyed. The homemade root beer I sampled was good. I was told that the pizza was award winning maybe I'll get that next time.

I have been a customer for many years and have experienced many of great things happen from the Dempsey's crew. The food is always good and Se'an and the rest of the kitchen staff always use the best freshest ingredients. The interaction the staff has with customers make you feel very welcome and like part of the Dempsey's family. I have been to many other places around the area and I still choose Dempsey's Brewey when asked where we should go. They offer live entertainment with out the drama of other places in town. Can't wait for nice weather again so we all can enjoy the outside seating.

Dempsey's head pizza maker, Sean, is nationally recognized and has many top finishes in competitions around the nation. I think a stop at Dempsey's is a must if you're in Watertown. They have a great beer selection that they brew. Everything is reasonably priced (15 inch = $18). They also have great options for people who aren't looking for pizza. I've always had good service.

Very disappointed. We were there an hour and a half before food arrived. Do not recommend Patty Melt . Beef had no Taste. Ketchup recommend We had realized our food sat until pizzas order were done and redone after an accident. The dough was not cooked through. Corned Boxy tower was horrible. Not made even close to the real thing. 6 bland doughy potato pancakes was too many. Too little meat. We will not recommend anyone friend or foe to eat here.

Got off the plane after nine and most restaurants close by 10 but Dempsey's was till 12, it said but the kitchen closes at 10. It was close to 10 when we arrived and only a couple of people but they were friendly and said no problem. Diane ordered the Italian fry, chicken breast pan fried in a Chardonnay cream sauce with mushrooms. I tried the chislic basket with is a SD dish. Chopped up sirloin steak deep fried. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned wonderfully. The steak was very tender the fries were crispy and the slaw was good. Micheala did a great job with the service and we were really happy with the experience. We come in to restaurants occasionally close to closing and it's not unusual for them to rush the meal and items are not cooked correctly but there was none of that here. I look forward to returning.
