It was a warm and cozy place. We sat mext to the big and warm fire place. The staff was very friendly and polite. The food was prepared just as we asked. We ordered the bone in ribeye that feeds one or maybe two. The steak was very tender and filled us both up. Great experience!

We went here while visiting mount Rushmore. The food was incredible, and the restaurant was modern and clean. We got great service, but we seen a lot of people getting mad because they had to wait on food, or wait to get their bill. The food did take a while to come out. There was a significant wait time. I recommend calling ahead, and getting reservations. We brought our three kids, but I wouldn't consider this a young kid friendly environment.

My husband ordered the 12 oz sirloin and I ordered the 6 oz sirloin. I always have my steaks well done. My steak was cooked perfectly. Very juicy throughout entire steak. Asparagus wrapped with bacon was tasty too. My husband and I were happy with our entire meal and service was very good too.

What a let down. We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 25 wedWhat a let down. We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 25 wedding anniversary. We made a reservation stating that fact, and requested a quiet booth or table for the 2 of us. We were seated in a booth between 2 other couples and 2 tables down from a group of 6 or so that had 2 noisy young children. We were given menus by the hostess but not greeted by anyone after that for exactly 20 minutes. At 20 minutes on the dot, the waitress of the table directly behind us, who'd obviously noticed that we'd been sitting their without any service, came to our table and asked if we'd been welcomed by our waitress yet. We told her that we hadn't, and she expressed her concern, apologized on the restaurant's behalf and filled our water glasses. She said she'd try and find who was supposed to be serving us. Approximately 10 more minutes passed and our waitress finally arrived. She gave a quick "sorry about that guys" and that was the end of it. Now mind you, the wait staff was abundant, and there were minimal tables with guests. Maybe 7 tables, so it was NOT busy! So on top of being seated in a cluster of the few tables with guests, our anniversary not acknowledged even though it was clearly stated on our reservation, and obviously being forgotten, we were still giving the benefit of the doubt. Our steaks were done perfectly. My husband's bacon wrapped asparagus was so strangely over cooked that the tops of the stalks were dry-crunchy, flat and hollow. My husband did bring that to our waitress's attention, but although not unkind, she was less than concerned. She said it's normally done perfectly. She nonchalantly asked if he needed anything else, but honestly, at this point we were just ready to go. We didn't expect a major deal about our anniversary, but seriously, it takes 2 seconds to ask the customers what they are out doing tonight, especially when it was written on the reservation. It's just polite and kind. It would've also been nice to have them acknowledge the extreme wait for service after being seated. An offer of a free appetizer, drink, or dessert can go a LONG way! Heck, taking $5 off the $107.00 bill would've been nice...anything really to show that they cared about bad service. Bottom line, the steaks were good. The beer was cold (although they forgot to put the olives that I ordered in it). The service, aside from the young girl with glasses who seated us, and the kind slightly older waitress with short hair who noticed we'd been ignored, was lack luster at best. I left a 15% tip...can't remember the last time I only left 15%. Had she given a care at all, engaged us in any small talk, or had offered to make our bad experience better, I'd have left my usual 25%. I'm not sure that we'll be back any time soon, and more than likely will not be recommending.

I had the filet minion with loaded mash potatoes, EXCELLENT!! The bread was awesome and the server was beyond impeccable. She was very attentive and gave us great suggestions. Will definitely dine there again the next time we are in South Dakota.

Wonderful restaurant with great food and a wonderful atmosphere. I ordered the 12 oz. Sirloin with a baked potato and my business partner ordered the buffalo. Both dishes were superb. Well done Dakotah. **update- I went there 2 days later and ordered the same thing this time to go.

Food was very good. Waitress was really nice and friendly. Overall a very nice atmosphere only thing is you would imagine you would get two sides with your steak especially seeing as it's was 50$ . Steak was cooked exactly how I wanted no complaints about that . A little expensive but was a nice evening. With that for what you get I wouldn't go back a second time.

Overall, it was a good experience. The chislic is amazing. Salads were good. My mother had the Fillet which was very well executed. It had good flavor. My father and I had the Salmon which I found to be over-cooked, dry, and under-seasoned. The asparagus I had was a little woody, too.

Walk-in guests are seated by party size, not by order of arrival. We were a party of two and waited 20 minutes to be seated while three separate larger walk-in parties who arrived after us were seated immediately.

Had the Venison Shortribs for an appetizer. They were very bland and didn't seem hot when they came out. My wife ordered the Walleye and it was pretty good but the carrots with glaze were cold. I had the Elk ravioli and it was delicious but again the bacon wrapped asparagus was cold.

Good food. Steak was done right. But a bit expensive for your ave steakhouse fare. Seating was a bit crowded. And they seated us in the bar area. Last thing I want to do when sitting down for a meal is to put up with the bar crowd. But we weren't given a choice. The chairs also were not the most comfortable. And they were on casters, so they moved around at the slightest provocation. Sorry, but you won't be getting any recommendations from me.

We had the buffalo rib and aged rib eye. We were there after 8pm toward the end of the night and I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. The buffalo rib was tough and not falling off the bone. I don't think I got the aged rib eye steak either. I think I got a strip steak and it was tough. The buffalo skewers were tasty and would probably only order that if I ever went back which I don't think I will.

Suggest you make reservations prior to going, we did, we have a reservation for 7 PM, arrived at the restaurant 6:30, they checked the computer and Boom, the took us to our table We had an appetizer of skerer Buffalo with a sauce that was to de for. I had the Coullet Steak and it was delicious. My wife however, had the Elk ravioli and people, know the restaurant is a Steak restaurant, this ravioli was out of the world!!! The restaurant is off the interstate so there is a lot of folks coming in. Make reservations! The prices are very reasonable. You got to go

Good meal. I had the buffalo steak which was tougher than I expected, but that was my first time and I was warned by the waiter. Nice ambiance, a mix of well dressed and cowboys. Our seat by the fire was perfect! Was a little pricey but it was nice to have a good meal after a long road trip. You get what you pay for.

High quality steaks and food. Good wine and beer selection with a full liquor bar. We sat at the bar to eat, and enjoyed the combination of bartenders....Robin is a hoot! The Walleye (SD state fish) is well worth coming for back for an additional time (we did). I appreciate the butter sauce and onion straws on top of my steak. I also love vacationing in BEEF Country! The Apple crisp certainly did not disappoint. Good Solid place to eat, and to come back for!

Wasn't super impressed with the prime rib sandwich. I mean it was good just not as good as I was expecting, meat was a little dry. My mom's walleye was very tasty just could have been a little more crispy she said. Wojape and kuchen for dessert was good. Waitress was awkward and almost seemed rude at times. Still would recommend, just ask about how they prepare the lamb chops, should have been double cut, like most high end establishments are, and seasoned with herbs. The food itself was good. We got there at 915pm and our main dish was not out until 955pm. Which wasn't the issue it was the fact that literally at 10:00pm our waitress was already trying to clear our ticket. It was extremely rushed. Our waiter was awesome as it appeared he was in training , however the waitress again was very abrupt with both him and us. The food itself was good, not great but good.

Our first time there we weren't greeted with a smile. It was as if we were a bother. I asked for A1 sauce only to find the bottle filled with light brown water. Asked for another and got the same thing. Third bottle was new and normal. By then the food was cold. Got no apology from the waiter whatsoever. Left very disappointed.

It was simply fantastic worth every single penny! Highly recommend the creme brulee and apple crisp with vanilla ice cream it's to die for!!! We had the cowboy bone in 20 inch ribeye, with the fried macaroni and cheese the soup of the day which was chicken stew, and a caesar salad. It comes with fry bread that has cinnamon butter with it and it is absolutely fantastic. But to be honest with you the best part was dessert 10 out of 10 would come again.

This steakhouse is the real deal! I’ve had food all over the country and this by far beats them all! Especially the creme brûlée! I thought Paris had the best but the chef at The Dakotah in Rapid City was equal if not better!! I want to go back soon just for their steaks and creme brûlée!!

The food was AMAZING! Had a filet and it was delicious. Had a filet that was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. The fried Mac and cheese side was delicious. Good specialty drinks too. We did wait about 35 minutes for the table and they seemed a bit understaffed, so the service wasn't my favorite but on the same end, I had no issues either. They weren't over friendly but not rude. Definitely recommend for a nice dinner.

Nice, upscale atmosphere. Surprisingly quite, even with a full-house. Music was low-key, to the point that I don't really remember what kind it was. The service was great and meal was paced well. We had a reservation, but fir others, there was a shirt wait. Great place to eat. The arugula was fantastic if you're into that. I had the lamb chops rare, which were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. Many meals come with soup or salad, as well as a side. Buffalo is served, and is sort of the theme of the place, but not in a tacky way. There's a fairly extensive drink menu, as the place has a full bar. Wine, liquor, draft and other beer, as well as Pepsi products. There was an entire section of the menu devoted to Buffalo Trace bourbon, which I had. Deserts also available.

They sell a frybread that should not be compared to the frybread we as Native people make. Its like another persons recipe for for say pumpkin pie maybe different from mine. If you find yourself in this area and want a good price of meat. Stop by here, they also have some more exotic meats to choose from. Davai.

Have been many times and have always had a good experience. But this time (Dec 1) the service was mediocre at best, had to send a drink back because the bartender didn't know how to make a Manhattan. Had to flag a different server for attention. Foods was ok. Greatly disappointed. Should probably have talked to management. But that is my fault. That being said. I would go back again, never let one bad experience be the end. But only one.

Here on a Tuesday place is busy, they don’t have enough staff for as busy they are. I saw the GM and ask her about a plate with meat on skewers, what it was and she was very rude said the name and just walked away. There’s that and then there’s the women bartender who has been nothing but rude, very snotty and took her roughly ten minutes to just take my drink order. Considering we brought a Japanese tour in here for dinner and they act like they really don’t want there business. Definitely won’t be back...

Price doesnt match service and food. Got seated right away had made a reservation. Service took way too long, Filet was overdone and had some cheap crispy onions on top of it. Sent the lamb chops back twice because they were over cooked and tough ordered medium rare. Attempted the salmon which for some reason came out medium rare but they couldn't pull that off with a steak. Went to the restroom to find chew packets spit into the urinals. Manager stared at us like a deer in the headlights when questioned about the poor service and quality of food. Was really wanting to like this place stick with Longhorn or legends in deadwood.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner here the last night of our trip. I ordered the prime rib and she had the buffalo rib. We also each ordered a caesar salad and it was really good. The meals were equally tasty and the service was above par. The ambience was what you would expect for a Midwest steakhouse and overall we had a good time and a good meal. It is supposedly the best steakhouse in town and it didn't disappoint for us.

We arrived to town around 8:30 pm, and decided to visit Dakotah Steakhouse because they were open until 10:00 pm. The experience was fantastic. Friendly staff, very professional. He had a filet, baked potato and salad and said that all were fantastic. I had the salmon, the sisters soup and balsamic carrots - amazing. The music was great, the photo history on the walls contributed to the experience. Well done! Looking forward to visiting again. Thank you.
