I have been to this restaurant twice and twice I have left disappointed and dissatisfied. If it was possible to leave a review with zero stars instead of one star I would. The first time we went the sever was impatient, the food was cold and greasy, and the staff seemed more interested in gossiping among themselves about customers then actually do their jobs. The second time we went we decided to give them a chance and see if the first experience was a fluke... it was not! We sat for twenty minutes after being seated by perhaps the rudest front-of-house staff I have ever seen and never once saw a waitress. After twenty minutes of waiting with not even a drink order, we walked out. I would not recommend this restaurant at all! There are better restaurants in Custer that actually care about their customers.

We stopped at the Buglin' Bull for dinner while staying in Custer. The beer flight was top notch (and a great way to try something new!), food was tasty and the service was great. Thank you for a an all around great experience. Would certainly stop again for a bite to eat.

Fantastic service even during the Fourth of July before fireworks! Great food and great wine. Definitely plan on stopping by again before my trip is over! Love the atmosphere and everything is clean and crisp. I had the Loco Burger with Garlic-Parmesan Fries and White Zinfandel. Filled me up and would order again. 10/10 would recommend to anybody passing through! Edit: our server Nicole did phenomenal! Hope I get her when I come back! (They have a couple but I know she has blonde hair.

Great atmosphere, clean, friendly service. I had the turkey swiss cranberry sandwich. It was so delicious! Very filling and just what I wanted on a hot summer day. We ended our meal with the skillet chocolate chip cookie. The lovely general manager stopped by and told us she referred to it as death by chocolate chip cookie. She was right! It was incredibly rich and beyond sinful. Can’t wait to go back and enjoy the Buglin Bull.

Busy place! Considering how busy it was we did get our food in good time. Food was good. Little pricey for the amount of food you get. Definitely be back as long as they get the cooling system working. It was very warm in the restaurant the day we were there.

Our August vacation to Mount Rushmore also included a stop in Custer, SD. I adhere to a plant-based diet while my husband enjoys a hearty meal. Buglin' Bull's relaxed atmosphere and excellent food made the afternoon even more enjoyable. I opted for the Sweet Asian Salad, and my husband chose the Zeus Burger. The food was terrific, and the waitperson was friendly and helpful.

Stopped here on July 4th and the place was packed and we were seated within ten minutes and food and drinks were very fast. Felt like the night was a stress test and this place did awesome. Friendly, fast and amazing food. I had the Bangkok burger with peanut sauce ( to die for ) and can’t wait to eat here multiple times before my trip is over :p awesome job guys! Nice atmosphere, very good service, good food. Our only suggestion is that the cook might cut most of the fat off the prime rib. Lemon chicken was very good with the mixed veggies. I substituted garlic parmesan fries for the pasta, they were good and not too garlicky. Great place to eat, and not closed between 2pm and 5pm like some of the other restaurants. We definitely recommend!

Food was okay, but would have been good if served while fresh and hot. It tasted like it had been sitting in the kitchen and judging by how long we waited for it, I suspect that is correct. I must mention our server was attentive but was also trying to train a new person. She did not listen to our order, she was busy talking instead of listening and wrote both orders down wrong. She did not repeat the orders to us and therefore placed the them incorrectly. We were both disappointed to spend over $40 for a burger, a sandwich and two beers for lunch. We'll not be back. There's many other places to eat in the area!

Quesadilla (mediocre) was warm, rice and beans cold. Both meals were comped. New owners this week so will give them the benefit of the doubt to work out the bugs. After looking at all the choices in Custer for dinner, we chose the Buglin' Bull. Although listed as a Sports Bar it is much more than that. I had a burger and parmesan and garlic fries. My husband had the Rancher's Pie. Both were excellent. We found the prices fair and reasonable. Our waitress (unfortunately didn't get her name) was very attentive but not intrusive. She was friendly and helpful when asked questions. The server was also friendly and did more than just put the food down. I would definitely recommend this to someone visiting Custer.

Stopped to have dinner as the rest of Custer is shut down. Hostess was very crabby and rude. We sat for 10 min before anyone even came to the table to get our drink order. My bull burger was cold and the French fries tasted like they were a day old and heated in the microwave. We then waited forever to get our bill. Very unfortunate as the bull used to be a wonderful place to eat and a friendly place to go when the Boyers had it. Guess as locals we will cross this off our list and go to Hill City or Rapid when we want to eat out. Very sad

I really hate to leave a negative review but this was truly one of the worst experiences I have EVER had at a restaurant. Here's how it went down.... We stopped by the Buglin Bull to have a cocktail at the bar while we waited for the Burger & Bun Co. to open at 5pm. I do want to be clear that the bartender was friendly, helpful and attentive. After we finished our cocktail we walked to B&B Co, who at 5:07pm had a 45 minute wait, but I was hungry and didn't want to wait that long so we went back to the Buglin Bull. Oh how I wish we had just waited. This time we were seated in the restaurant area. We sat in our booth for about 5 minutes before a waitress (never gave her name) stopped and asked what we wanted to drink. Both of us asked for water. It took another 5 minutes for someone (not our unnamed waitress) to bring us our water. We then sat there for another 10 minutes before unnamed waitress came back to take our order. I had the bacon bleu burger with a buffalo patty and fries; my boyfriend had a cheeseburger (asked for it well-done) and sweet potato fries. Our food came out in an acceptable amount of time, but none of the condiments listed on the menu (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles) were on our plates. We decided to dig in anyways and ask for the missing items when our unnamed waitress came back. My food was decent but my boyfriends wasn't; the burger was medium at best and the sweet potato fries were disgustingly greasy, barely even edible. We figured we'd tell our waitress and have the issues fixed when she came back, but she NEVER came back! NOT ONCE! Never asked us how our food was, if she could get us anything else, NOTHING! When we finally saw her again - about 30 minutes later - she tried giving us some lame excuse that didn't even make sense (something about our order going in at the same time as a different table so it took longer to get our food - as I noted before our food came out in a reasonable time) instead of owning up to the fact that she had completely ignored us through our entire meal. Overall: Food - 2 stars Restaurant Service - 0 Stars Bar Service - 4 Stars My advice to you if you're still considering being a patron - sit at the bar; Or just go somewhere else and avoid this place altogether!

I thought the food was great and our server did a wonderful job. The reason I chose to rate 4 stars instead if 5 was due to what we were charged for a Moscow mule. (Custer mule). The menu said 8 dollars with a variety of options for the liqour. We had Jameson and were unknowingly charged an extra 2 dollars for that. Next time tell your customer of this charge because I was already pushing the limits on spending 8 dollars for this. Uncalled for.

The hostess was lost and kept no order to how she sat groups. We sat at our table for an hour waiting for our food. Our waiter explained to us after 45 min of waiting that the cooks burnt our food, that he yelled at them, and asked for them to remake it. Two burgers, a flat bread pizza, a salad, and kids chicken strips... after another half hour, we left. Based on this experience I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I can’t imagine what this place is like at the peak of tourists season.

We checked in at the Holiday Inn Express in Custer SD and asked the nice lady at the front desk where her favorite spot to eat was in town. She IMMEDIATELY pulled out the Menu for Buglin' Bull. We looked over the menu, including the Bison Stuffed Mushrooms, and figured we'd give it a go. Place looked clean, modern, and inviting both inside and out. We were seated promptly and our waitor came in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered a flight of beers, the bison stuffed mushrooms, mac & cheese with an upgrade to shrimp, and an elk stew in a bread bowl. Our hilariously terrible experiences are as follows: -The bison stuffed mushrooms came out and were TINY. Sure, there were about 10 of them, but they were the size of quarters. No bison meat to be found... more of a cream cheese like stuffing. They tasted good but I would give them 3/5 stars for lacking size and meat -The Mac and Cheese was $9.99 if I recall, but the shrimp was an upcharge to $17.99. The bowl came out like a soup. It was so watery you could have poured the cheese through a straw. There were 3 shrimp on the mac. 3 shrimp for a $8 (if I recall the base price correctly) upcharge. -I brought the lack of shrimp to the attention of our waitor, politely, and without asking for anything specific to be done. Simply mentioned "I would have expected to see more." He shot back "I have no control over things like that. I'll ask my manager to come talk to you." He turned and walked away. -Another lady immediately swooped in behind him, within 5 seconds of him stepping away... like she was lurking in wait. She didn't introduce herself but stood awkwardly at the table. I asked "Are you the manager" and she said she was, still without providing a name. I mentioned my concern again "I think for $7 you might expect more than 3 shrimp." She said "I agree. I'll go and talk to the chef about it," and walked away. No mention of bringing more shrimp, asking if I'd like something else, asking if she could comp part of the meal, or offering a desert or drink on the house. Nothing at all. Just acknowledged the concern and walked away. Weird as heck. -The Elk stew was like $16 and came with a 1-cup serving in a bread bowl. Oh well. It was good. -But the real icing on the cake was the sliding glass door cooler by the bar. They were charging $7/glass for wine. Hilariously, it was coming from boxes of wine in the fridge/cooler. Guys, if you're going to charge bottled wine prices you can't pour $7 glasses from a $7 box of wine. Grow up. - Even funnier.... there was a glass full of draft beer in the fridge/cooler. Someone must have poured the wrong beer for a customer and they were saving it waiting for a customer to order that same beer so they could re-use the one in the cooler. You guys are SO cheap you can't pour our a glass of draft beer when you mistakenly pour the wrong thing for a customer? Anyway, although the place was nice to look at and sit in, the service was a joke and while the food tasted good it lacked the enough that it wasn't food we would ever go back for. Shape up guys.

Ok so while staying in the Custer area, I asked my wife to find us a restaurant in ton that serves some protein of the local hunted game. My wife had Elk Stew, mother in law had the Buffalo short ribs, and the men had the Boar Ossubuco. For an appetizer we had the Pheasant Flat bread and it was just ok. However, everything else we ate was amazing! Especially the Ossubuco. I highly recommend dropping in on this family friendly spot next time you are in the area.

First impression was right on to what we got,Warm, relaxing, and we'll kept. It is a nice bar and grill. Great food and service. We had 2 appetizers and 5 adult meals and one child meal. I found the price to be average for our family.

The 'hot-spot' in downtown Custer. We've eaten here many times. The food's always good (not outstanding) and the service is generally good too. The decor and ambience are quite good as well... it has the feeling of a trendy place. The prices are moderate. Can be very busy depending on the season and time of day.

Overall not bad. Service was friendly and on par with what I had expected. The owner came around and greeted us and said hello, which is always a nice touch in my book. The Moscow mule (or their take on it) had waaay to much ginger in for my liking.

Great food! But the wait staff seemed to be understaffed? Our server was a bit slow to our table and seemed to have her hands full with tables. So we were there longer than expected, but other than that it was awesome!

The bar and menu look good but don't be fooled, the service is slow and the food was very bad, especially the hamburger was overly dry and nothing special, some pre-made patty most likely. The salad straight out of the bag, probably yesterday. Do yourself a favor and try anything else.

On a solo cross country trip and stopped in for a bite. Staff was friendly and service was top notch. The food...AMAZING. I had the Wild Boar Osso Bucco and it was the best thing I have ever eaten. My only regret is that I can’t finish it and, since I am traveling all day tomorrow, I can’t take it with me.

Good food with a well designed menu. There was something for everybody and some interesting choices as well. The staff did well although the night we were there not very personable. We enjoyed our dinner.

The staff was friendly, and the food was decent. I find it odd that many restaurants in this region don't brew their own tea - it comes out of the fountain.
