I had the small jerk chicken here the other day. For 8 bucks you get a bed of rice, some steamed cabbage and carrots and other vegetables, and a hearty amount of Jerk chicken. I had it for lunch twice because the portions were so large I even ended up throwing some of the rice away. The rice is perfect texture and tastes delicious with their hot sauce. The chicken is truly seasoned the Jamaican way. Plenty of spice and flavor the way it should be, and it didn't take any more than ten minutes to make, though a lot of her dishes are in a heater by the time you get there ready to be served. It didn't taste like 'restaurant food' it tasted like going to your friend with the awesome chef for a mom and having a delicious home meal. It's a perfect carryout place.
The ladies working their are lovely If you're ever in say hello to Pauline or Helana (if I spelled that right). You can tell they make everything with care. The first time I went in it was just Pauline. She was so kind when I came in. Big smile, warm greeting, then she offered to poor some of the extra juices into my rice which really made the meal. Then she offered hot sauce, showed me where the forks and napkins etc. were, and sent me on my way with one delicious meal.
Edit: I had the pork here the other day, and It was the best pork I've ever had. Imagine perfectly cooked bacon but 10x as thick. I'll be trying the oxtail next time. If you come before noon, she may not have all of her dishes ready, but you can't go wrong with anything you order. I'm going to try every menu item and keep this updated.
Edit: Just tried the shrimp curry and everything in it was very fresh and cooked perfectly. The only complaint one might have is the tails being left on the shrimp, but perhaps that's how they make it in Jamaica. I give it an 8 out of 10. I'll be trying the goat curry next time I'm in, on their own suggestion. I'm a bit excited.
