They have cooked all dishes using dhal as the base; even chicken curry having dhal. Luckily curd rice and plain rice didnt had dhal in them.

Dinner has a decent menu with many options to choose from. Lunch buffet is resonably priced ($8.00) and includes a wide range of vegeterian options as well. The food is fantastic, and the staff are very friendly. Great service. Highly recommend!

Clean and convenient place for Indian food in the NE area. Very tasty buffet with equal parts vegetarian and meat entrees. Not as extensive as some other restaurants in the Columbia area, but each item was very good. We'll be returning.

This place is one of the best places to eat in the Columbia area. It really does have a great family vibe when you go in there and they are always so nice. My wife and I love there Mango chicken with no spicey... OMG it's to die for. With there Garlic main. Hope this helps guys they have great food and a great place to eat.

Not sure how this compares to others in the area as of yet but it's not what I would consider great good. It's acceptable if you have a craving for it and the service is fast and people are very nice.

Wow!! Shocked and so happy to stopped and stumble upon here at Village Of India on my way to upstate South Carolina from Kersaw / Camden area! Excellent spicy testing Indian food!! Many Indian restaurants in USA tone down their spice and make it so mild some time it is not even authentic Indian food! Not all dishes were spicy hot but their Pinjabi Kadhi (yellow gravy made with yogart) was so good I had to take some to go from their buffet bar! I usually don’t write reviews but really wanted to write this for this hole in the wall place.. do not judge by its old shopping center or old ambience. Sometime new restaurants with the new ambience have no good food!! Love it!!

The buffet was a nightmare. Tandoori chicken felt like it was from a week ago, chicken tikka masala was made with the same leftover tandoori chicken pieces, naan seemed like it was swimming in butter We ordered a goat biryani as well and it was actually a pulao with semi boiled mutton in it - I could taste the rawness when I tried eating it. Please do yourselves a favor and stay away from this place. The most horrendous food experience of my life.

It's never a Indian restaurant as because Dal is cooked along with chicken curry! Buffet is really bad worthless as taste compared! But I don't thing anything good around!

The owner lady showed no respect at all for the guests and can be seen arguing with guests. The food is good but the service is poor. There is only one waitress and she happens to be the cashier as well, they are clearly under staffed.

I had a very nice waiter, that and the naan was the best part of my experience. We ate from the all you can eat dinner buffet. My wife couldn't really eat do to the chicken tikka masala, it was way to spicy for her. I too thought it was spicy and mind you i do eat spicy food the safran rice was over cooked and hard, it had an almost left out to long kind of thing going on. The food was bland and lacked flavor. I may have came at the wrong time, food may change do to the amount of customers here at a time. I suggest ordering from the menu its self. My sister ordered from the menu and it was fresh, although it did lack flavor as well. Try it for your self, you may have a completely different experience. My family and I however will not be returning.

Ordered through Bite Squad. Ordered medium spicy but it had almost no spice at all. Very disappointed because I love the taste of Indian food and this was very bland. RESPONSE TO VILLAGE OF INDIA REPLY: Bite Squad is a delivery service. They did not make the food.

Most bland Indian food I've ever tasted. I travel a lot and eat Indian in every city I visit. I have never been more dissatisfied with a meal at an Indian restaurant. A friend and I ordered chicken tikka masala and butter chicken- both very standard meals for Indian restaurants in the US. Both tasted as if we were eating tomato soup with chunks of chicken and a spice (heat) additive. No other flavors were apparent in our meal. The naan was also very poor. I would not return. Incidentally their menu is not available online - I've taken photos of it to add to the post.

I have eaten the buffet before and it was mediocre. I decided to give the menu a try the 2nd time and it was unfortunately not more impressive. The Chicken Tikka Masala was grisly, fatty and not spicy enough even though I ordered Medium. Pretty sure it was all dark meat chicken and not white meat. Disappointed since it is fairly close to my house and no other Indian nearby. Will not be going again.

First time but not the last. My husband and I went and loved it. Yes, it's spicy, it's Indian food, but for us not overwhelming. Very nice inside. I am surprised I didn't take pictures we usually do but with the excitement of wanting to try everything we were more focused on eating. Lol!

I love the food here. I normally order off of the menu it has my favorites on it. UPDATE 05-15-2018 I don’t know what’s going on with this restaurant but I just ordered my usual Lamb Masala and naan it is was NOT as expected. There was hardly any lamb in the masala (even less then the small amount that’s usually in it) and my naan was hard and cold like they just pulled it off the buffet after sitting for hours & didn’t make it fresh (which is why I paid extra for it)!! Do better village of India or you’re going to lose more loyal customers like me.

Love the food and the husband & wife team that run the restaurant. They've also been super helpful in advising on food choices as I've tried to transition to a vegan diet. While I'll miss their fantastic chicken tikka masala, the channa dishes have been superb.

First, for those who are unaware, there are different styles of Indian cooking. This restaurant is Punjabi style which packs a bit more heat into their dishes. They have a really reasonably priced buffet which is a great way to sample their dishes - there's something there for everyone, including vegetarian dishes. The service is always prompt and pleasant, and we always leave full and happy. If you're new to Indian food, I recommend starting with the buffet first.

I love this place! I have eaten here dozens of times and brought friends and family, all of which have also very much enjoyed it. I have traveled all over the country with my job and eaten at several dozen different Indian places in various parts of the country, most of which I enjoyed, many of which I loved, and this place definitely falls among one of my favorites. The buffet is smallish, but enough options to choose from for a good meal, though will obviously find a few more choices (including goat) on the dinner buffet (which is Thurs, Fri, Sat I believe). Definitely recommend!

The restaurant is located inside of a somewhat rundown shopping center but don't let that deter you. Indian is my 1st or 2nd choice for favorite cuisine so I have a reasonable expectation/level of comparison when visiting a new indian spot. It is not the most amazing one I've ever been to but for the Columbia area it is certainly one of your best options. The menu is extensive and there are many, many vegetarian options, if that is your thing. There is a lunch buffet which I was not all that impressed with so I now only order off the menu. The staff is extremely attentive and polite. Prices are reasonable. tl;dr I love Indian and while this isn't the best I've ever had - it is pretty good for Columbia so I go here often. Choose menu over buffet and expect great service.

My favorite is hands down the tikka masala. Love, love, love. Only complaint is the hours can be a little funky. Definitely come here if you like Indian food.

The place has just one waitress who becomes rude once it starts getting crowded. I must say, the food was made of fresh ingredients but it tasted nothing like the real thing, forget that! It didn't even taste good. This place is highly over priced for the substandard service and quality.

we were travelling from Illinois to florida for vacation .we try this restaurant lunch buffet. service and food was excellent. we get fresh nan bread on the table . we like chicken tikka masala was yummy and my wife she is vegetarian she like their malai kofta .we definitely recommend this restaurant .we were thinking chef have good experience in this restaurant . good luck to owner.

I usually come here for the lunch buffet special. And when I do, I know to get ready for the meal of a lifetime. The selection at the buffet is small, yes, but the combinations are endless. Think of it like a painting of flavor. The canvas is the rice, delicious in itself, but also in need of a stroke of creativity to enhance it. I usually get the rice, spinach, and curry chicken; maybe a few other sauces to add to the mix, but this is my normal meal. This combination is so delicious that I usually have at least 3 plates of the same. The bread is the icing on the cake. It contributes massively to the flavor and adds a different but welcoming texture. All in all, the dining experience here for lunch is what you make it. But most of the time, you will make it amazing. It is almost impossible to go wrong here. I urge you to try the lunch buffet. You will not be disappointed.

This place is only okay. In all fairness, I only had the lunch buffet and haven't had a chance to order off the menu. I felt like the food on the buffet was very bland and very watered down. The saag paneer had no paneer in it, which was disappointing. The naan was really good and so were the chutneys. Unfortunately, NE Cola doesn't have any other options for Indian.

Food good but walking in door a strong smell.. Kinda like the smell of floral uniral cake. Not very pleasant. The ceiling tiles made things look gloomy. I guess what I ordered didn't allow of much condiment variety. Other Indian restaurants dress up the meal. I got bowl of meat a a bowl I rice. That's it. It was good.

We tried this place after our friend graduation. This is the worst Indian we have had in a long time. Taste was bland. Indian food suppose to be full of spice and flavors but this is just the worst. We went for buffet. No goat, chicken tikka tasted like baked chicken mixed with water and color, no fruits. Only good food was the basmati rice(that’s why I am giving 2 Star). None of us went back to get more food. It was just so horrible. I really hope you will work on the food taste. Interior was decent, bathroom was stinking.

I'm giving his place at 3 just because the lady who worked up front and ended up being my server was very polite. Other than that I agree with the other reviews that the food was bland and not worth what I paid for thedinner buffet. I may try going again and ordering something off the actual menu. It also appears that based off the comments I've read if you have anything negative to say the owner seems to get butt hurt and you can tell in their response. The whole point of reviews is to see what you're doing wrong to make your restaurant better.

Tried the vegetarian meal and it was all delicious. Was looking to try something new, only expecting the enjoy a few of the items but I liked every single thing I ate. One of the best restaurants in Columbia. This little hidden treasures is one of my favorite places to eat. I've had carry outs and dine in and I love it!! The food is okay nothing special but the service is not good. The lady there seemed to be very polite in first couple of visits but after that she did not serve us well. One time she started arguing and even after replying her calmly she did not stop. I just paid my bill and left and decided never to go back there. Also, compared to other Indian Buffet, price is higher.
