This is my second time here. First trip here was with work colleagues. Food was great as usual. Ordered seafood jambalaya and low country saute. Both entrees came out hot. Portions were good! Seafood was very generous on both dishes generous. Atmosphere was good. Had both indoor and outdoor seating. Even had the grouper fingers for appetizer and it was just as good! Will definitely be back! Highly recommended!
We had a lovely dinner sitting on the outside porch on a beautiful evening. The food was good and the beer was cold. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. It is good seafood, but not the best in Shem Creek. It was fun watching the boats, kayaks and other modes of transportation float by, some with dogs at the bow. If the weather is nice, sit outside. It enhances your experience.
Beautiful spot! Loved the scenery. Food was great! Had the peel and eat shrimp and blackened grouper. The server was friendly! I'll be back!
Love this place! Atmosphere and Seafood is the best along with the bartenders Scotty and Jason!
Shrimp linguine was excellent. Service could have been better. Waiter seem to disappear alot.
The food was tasty and friendly service. Price reasonable
Food was very good, atmosphere was great, but service was a little slow. The waitress forgot one of our meals in our party. She quickly fixed the problem. I had the grouper sandwich and it was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant for a good lunch or dinner.
Worst restaurant experience. Had 10 tables open outside and multiple inside on a Sunday. We were told an hour wait. When approaching the manager her reasoning was they had 2 employees out. The waitress stated to us that they had 2 large groups eatting at the moment and they didnt want to sit people so the ticket time wouldnt be long. We drove specifically 40 mins to eat here and the customer service failed us.
A staple of seafood in Mount Pleasant. Good food at a good price, and great views. Service is typical for the area, which is certainly based on personality and how busy they are.
Awesome place!! Great atmosphere with excellent food! Visit everytime we are in Charleston. Must try the fried green tomatoes... they're our favorite.
We had a great time here. Amazing food and friendly staff. Cant wait to come back next yr!
Great spot for waterfront dining. The bar crowd is lively, even for a late afternoon lunch. The beer is cold. The menu has a ton of options for some great seafood.
Combo seafood platter was delicious Drinks no to strong not to weak so yummy
View is wonderful. Its a happy place to be. If you're at downstairs bar Ask for Ben
Can't really speak on the food for the place since I didn't actually eat here which is why I'm only giving 4 stars. Went for drinks here and the bartender was super friendly and talking to everybody and creating an overall great environment. No idea what his name was but he looked like David Spade. Overall, this place seemed pretty great and the view is spectacular.
I ordered the fried shrimp platter and it tasted like old grease. The server and manager were notified and they were very rude about the whole situation. The food was not worth what we paid. Do not recommend. Terrible service and food.
I actually resurrected my gmail account in order to review this horrible restaurant. I’m from out of town and received this recommendation for this establishment from a friend. Clearly it has been some time since she has dined here. I was given a buzzer after registering for a table for two and was told a 40 minute wait, which was reasonable but after 50 minutes and multiple people being sat around us (while at the same time sitting in the bar with the RUDEST bartenders). Finally we decide to go ask the issue and turns out the hostess Riley just completely fumbled and didn’t register our buzzer. She tells my friend to close out at the bar and then she will seat us. The nasty bartenders take so long that when we get back to the hostess Riley she says she is no longer allowed to seat people. She states she never had our reservation either, so I proceed to whip my buzzer out and she had written my name as “Sierra” and rudely goes “well has it even been 40 minutes” and turns and looks at the clock to realize it had been 50. Instead of an apology or saying to us how about you eat at the bar and we can make it speedy, she instead states she doesn’t know what she’s supposed to do about it while having the rudest attitude. This is a horrible restaurant. The owners should be ashamed. Wish I could give it a negative review.
Good variety of food choices, and tasty. Friendly staff. Great views.
GREAT food and beautiful view
Ended up leaving before we were seated. First bad impression was walking up the stairs to enter... smelled like rotting food or dead animal- oh well, they can't control everything on a busy Friday night. Once we got inside we saw that no one was waiting to be seated and there were several empty tables. The person behind the hostess stand completely ignored us while he took a phone call for 10 minutes and then walked us around the restaurant while he tried to find a clean table. At this point we were back at the front and told it would be a 20 minute wait.
Had a great table outside, however, cigar smoke was prevalent through the whole visit. This significantly degraded our experience. One would think that management could calculate where smoke would go. Food was good, waiter was good.
Good food great atmosphere
Wait was MONSTOROUS, only because it was on graduation night. So good must be really good ! Never got to eat Because it was 3 hour wait. They have a board walk that is just beautiful !
Great view, huge servings and good prices.
The food is really good. Recommend the Crabby Patty. And the views are amazing. The only restaurant in Shem Creek that hasn't renovated!
I have been going to Vickery's for years and generally always had a nice experience. It seems lately that the ambiance has changed. Does not seem welcoming, particularly for families. Getting a little rough around the edges.
A favorite of mine for a couple of reasons. I love dining out on the deck overlooking Shem Creek. This place has a cool, relaxed vibe, which makes for a comfortable overall great experience. The food and service are always consistently good... My other favorite thing about Vickery's...? You must try the coconut cream pie. It's made in house, and I think it might be the best I've ever had.
This place was great. Service was a little slow but otherwise, nice place.
Had a party of 4, never got our food even after waiting for over 2 hours. Took an hour to seat us even though we were told 25 minute wait. Waitress never filled our drinks, didn't offer any appetizer while waiting for her error in not putting in our food order. Then the manager wouldn't speak with me. He was "in a meeting" at 10 pm at night! VERY, VERY, VERY disappointed. This grievance cannot be reconciled!
Excellent place to watch the shrimp boats come in and dolphins! Sit outside!
A relaxing view od the creek while I devoured my wings. Whoever made the decision to put carrot sticks with the wings....excelkent idea!
Burgers liked awesome, but I got a Cuban and peel& eats those were awesome too
Great service. Fantastic food and a view. You can dolphin spot while you eat.
Being able to sit in the ice cold AC - with views of the marsh at sunset all while watching the shrimp boats come in - the food is icing on the cake!!
Bad service, high prices, lights did not work on the outside deck, waited over an hour for food after we ordered. Don't wast your money or time there.
My husband and I have been coming here for years. We haven't had a meal here that we didn't love. We are locals that grew up in Mount Pleasant in the 70s and 80s. Pictured is friends of ours bringing in the fresh shrimp! Love where we live! Keeping it local y'all!
Ordered the low country sauté. Not a lot of seafood for the price and the grits were bland. Good service and beer.
Very slow service...waited an hour for a few basic sandwiches and a cup of gazpacho. Server never asked if we wanted second round of drinks nor did he check on us once after the food was finally served. Other than that, nice view and food was decent.
Location is great. Arrived at 1pm on a Sunday. Met a friend and had a calamari app. and drinks. Calamari was not that great
Great food and great views. Dolphins frequent the area, so keep an eye out. My young kids also loved their food. Would definitely recommend.
Vickery's is a nice little grill that has a great selection of seafood. The place has a nice wharf feel to it. The shrimp and grits were really good. However, they leave the tails on the shrimp, which I don't mind as I grew up peeling shrimp. But I wasn't prepared to bite into the shell when I got my food. Otherwise, it was great and I'd love to come back.
Came here multiple times throughout being in the area for a wedding weekend. They have an awesome outdoor deck bar that has an amazing sunset view at dusk. Food was awesome and they have cheap drinks too. Definitely my favorite place for the weekend, just wish they did a better job blocking off our private function as people kept coming in that didn’t belong
The service was great, and the food was amazing.
Atmosphere wonderful, food not so much, we waited quite a while for our meal, (I think they got slammed all at once.) it wasn't terrible, I have just had much better.
Excellent food and service with views of Shem Creek and Charleston Harbour, highly reccomended!!
Very nice bar and restaurant excellent food
Very solid outdoor patio with great happy hour drink specials.
Our bartender was fantastic, the food was great we split the fried seafood dinner with four items. Was perfect for two, or more. Lol. ♥️♥️
Shared the crabby patty and the jack tuna. Awesome. Beautiful views, great setting. Perfect service. Guy was on point. Thanks again. Host was good too!
Great food and service right off shrimp boat row
We were looking for a good seafood restaurant with great views. We found exactly that at Vickery's. The staff was very friendly. We had Beth as our server, she took very good care of us. I had the fried shrimp seafood platter. It was very very good. My wife got a side of black beans and rice that was fantastic. We had a table with very good views of the ocean and the canal with nice boats. I recommend this place to those looking for the same things as we were.
Literally one of the best bars I’ve been too in the Charleston! I sat at the bar and the bartenders Jacob and Scottie were very attentive and so respectful. The environment was amazing and the food and drinks were great. I will definitely come back!!
Good. Nothing memorable. I got the fried platter with shrimp and grouper. The fish was slightly fishy and the batter was very bland. We also ordered the crab hush puppies and they were a bit dense. I could not taste the crabmeat. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich and it was not good. Edible at best. The desert was the best thing during our lunch. We got the coconut cream pie. It had big chunks of coconut and just the right amount of sweetness. Yum! So I'm giving them a three star.. just based on the dessert.
Best Grouper sandwich I have had! Also had some great fried oysters for an appetizer. Atmosphere was great, we sat out on the deck and enjoyed the great weather. Waiter was very attentive. Not very crowded which surprised us. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are looking for good please for a casual fun dinner and drinks.
Vickery's never disappoints. We ordered appetizers for lunch and took home our dinner. The view on Shem Creek is breathtaking! When you go a must try is the cajun popcorn and French fries with gravy..my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Ladies bring a sweater because it's super chilly inside.
Not the worst dining experience I've ever had but certainly far from the best. I'll start with the positive - the view is phenomenal. The rest is just passable (barely). We waited several minutes before any staff acknowledged us at the host stand. Several walked by but all failed to even speak until a hostess emerged from the back. Once seated, the server was lackadaisical, maybe he was working off a "fun" Saturday evening since we were there for Sunday brunch and he could not have cared less if he tried. Please ask servers to not refer to guests as "guys", it's lazy. Please make sure that when they approach a table they have the tools they need to do the job. No pen or paper and saying, "I think I can remember" is not a great first impression. The building itself is in need of a good cleaning. A little windex and a window sill cleaning would do wonders. Decor is looking dated and worn and could use a refresh. The food ... when serving Eggs Benedict the eggs should be runny not cooked through. Hollandaise sauce should have more tanginess and a little salt should be used. The crab cakes were bland, tiny and over cooked, but at least they weren't all filler like some places do. So for that, I was pleased. I recognize that because of location you dont have to try too hard. You will always have customers and will likely always turn profit and servers will make money by turning and burning tables. However if you wanted to elevate your facility and thusly increase profit margins, tighten up your staff training, refresh/clean the space and make sure line cooks understand how to at least poach an egg.
Coconut cream pie best I've ever had
Great view, great service, great food!
If you want good food and good service.. don’t eat here. Food was greasy, cold, and tasted like burnt grease. Server Will and Manager Amber were disrespectful. Save yourself and eat somewhere else.
View and service were killer. The wait staff was perfectly attentive, knowledgeable and all smiles. Sit outside under the palms and get the best view in Shem Creek!
Service was very slow. Server came back 10 minutes after we ordered an appetizer to ask if we wanted an appetizer. Food was luke warm. But it was seasoned well and tasted good. Had great views of Shem creek. Overall I think they just had some issues this night. I would give them a second chance.
Food was great and views over the creek were fantastic! Lowcountry Saute over grits was absolutely wonderful and everyone really enjoyed the Fried Cajun Popcorn crawfish appetizer. Handled our large group easily and prices were very reasonable. Always a good choice when we are in the Charleston area.
Good food and good service but not amazing. Seems anyone on the water doesn't go above and beyond... Again, not bad in any way, just very normal.
Nice atmosphere and location.
Food was good. The order was a little slow. My fault for not asking about the pork in the rice.
The view is excellent. The food good, but the service was lacking. Make sure your waitress heard your order, otherwise you'll likely get something totally different. Overall, a good place to eat.
Make it for brunch, sample the crab hushpuppies, order the black bean cakes or the tuna steak! Service was good, but call ahead for large parties. After dinner walks at the marina is a must for porpoise sightings!
Good food, service ok, bar area inside needs to be updated. Has great views of Shem Creek if you sit outside.
Horrible food, service was par for the area. Restaurants is dirty. We were very disappointed. Never again.
Wheelchair accessible elevator at front door.
Great food and great atmosphere...
Atmosphere and views are great. Got the Cuban and jerk chicken sandwich. Both were decent. I would definitely return for drinks and the views.
We always go to vickerys for the atmosphere because it really is gorgeous and the least rowdy outside. The food is hit or miss but I thoroughly enjoy the Cuban sandwich :)
Bartenders didnt acknowledge us, more interested in talking to friends even though we were only paying clientele at the bar. Music is for employees not for paying customers. Customer next to us didnt even finish drink and left. We didnt stay for dinner
Worst experience ever on Father's Day. I was a party of 10, the waiter (Will) was rude and cursing when my family got their food which everyone had fried seafood, it tasted like burnt grease, we ask to speak to manager her name (Amber) and she also wasn't pleasant, she told us she'll refried our food, once everyone gave their plates back she changed her mind and said they can't change the grease right now so what do ya'll want me to do, 1st of she should of just ate that bill but instead she told her staff to check each of our plate to see how much we ate and that's how she'll give us discount, My bill came up to $88 and all I got was $5 off and all I ate was one scallop and one oyster, my plate still full. I'll never take my family back there again
Always grab the Cashew Encrusted Tuna Steak Salad, the White balsamic vinaigrette is out of this world delicious!
Great grouper sandwich and good service. Awesome setup on the water.
Put it this way, we drove 2 hours from Columbia to Charleston for lunch. Absolutely love to sit on the deck overlooking Shem Creek and enjoy a casual meal. Excellent bar drinks, seafood, and dessert. Don't pass up the key lime pie for dessert. And, just like the food and drinks, the wait staff is top notch.
Great sunsets, plenty of beer choices, good atmosphere for an enjoyable meal. No loud crowd, unnecessary antics. Very reasonable good prices
Food was really good and the service was great. First time there visiting from Florida and it was great.
Food was exceptional, server was a 9+, most definitely awesome overall, scenery, location on the marsh
We really enjoyed the food, however, the entree arrived before the soup. It was a little loud but the views are wonderful. Awesome keylime pie!
Great service.. awesome, huge shrimp fresh from pier next door! Nice atmosphere, a little loud inside but patio perfect with a breeze.
Ate here a few times now. Had no bad experiences. Was seated quickly every time had our food made fast and was not overly expensive.
I will grant three stars for the atmosphere both on ground level and above. However last time I got food the calamari and shrimp both fell short. Fried at too low a temperature they were grease laden and soggy, the burger was excellent, properly cooked to order. Sides were done wrong. Hopefully they will improve on the next visit and I'll get to change the review.
Great food and atmosphere!!
Ate two fabulous meals this week. Crab cakes stuffed with delicately shredded crab, lightly seasoned. House salad with perfectly grilled shrimp. Poss best shrimp ever.
Showed up with a party of 20, told us approx 1.5hr wait. They allowed a party of 18 in front of us. Girl goes to talk to manager, comes back and turned down our party of 20. We offered to split up to 5 parties of 4 to make it easier to fit at tables. Still turned us down, because the kitchen staff wouldn’t be able to handle it. Does that make sense to anyone?
Great place for the view and good food. Definitely southern cooking. Price is fair and quality is good. Crab hush puppies are great, but kind of small. Pork loin was huge portion and the mash that came with. Pasta dishes are good portion as well as the entree salads. Chocolate cake was very good and rich, the raspberry sauce was a great pairing. Enjoy the outside seating when you can. It's serene and nothing quite like it, people kayaking, shrimp boats coming through, even wildlife in the water and air.
Best place I've been in a long time! Great service, great atmosphere and great times!❤
Wait was a bit long but it was worth the wait to get an outside view. Food was amazing. Especially the calamari
Good fried grouper sandwich. Slow service, was sat at a dirty table that neither the hostess nor the waiter offered to wipe off. I finally had to ask. The server was not very friendly or attentive, but I found that to be a common issue with all the Shem Creek restaurants, unfortunately.
Awesome food & service.
Food is meh. Shark bar bar for sunset is great though! Just Dodge the smoke.
Loved the Vickerys experience. beautiful views and pretty good food
You can tell by the french fry and a crab Hush Puppy was fry in old Cook oil I used to work in a restaurant back in the old days and I know the importance of fresh food cooking in clean cook oil
I have eaten lunch at Vickery's many times and enjoy their grilled chicken salads. I rarely eat fried foods but had fried shrimp last nite. It was disappointing..certainly not fresh seafood. Our waiter was also disappointing. Not impressed with his man bun. I ordered a vodka/tonic and got a vodka/soda. Sent it back and he again brought a vodka/soda. At which time he said he thought they were out of tonic. Settled for a screwdriver which was not enjoyable. My friend had salmon which was dry/overcooked. The waiter never smiled and acted as if he did not enjoy his job. We enjoyed our walk on the dock after dinner but will never have dinner @ Vickery's again. Our table was not clean..very sticky. .
The waiter was absolutely great. Food was not the best. Great views. Not much of a selection on the menu either.
Great food and drinks
Great atmosphere and selection.
Been a fan of Vickery's since I moved to Charleston. The Jambalaya is still as amazing as it was when I first tried it.
Great experience, beautiful location and even better food.
Great place with good food. Band on Labor Day was great.
Fabulous birthday supper with blackened tuna and steamed veggies , friend had salmon salad . The food was delectable , the view of Shem Creek , marsh and shrimp boats was priceless . Key lime pie drizzled with raspberry was Devine ! Will start a new trend of birthday pie ! Thanks for a great start to 65. !
Good food, great view of the creek. I highly recommend an outdoor table so you can watch the boats and paddleboarders. The food is great with delicious daily specials.
3 bars, plenty of room. One bar outside to watch the sunset, one to watch the moonrise
Great views and location but as a local who goes here a lot the service has gotten worse time after time. This will be my last time coming here....
This place had great food I had the Cuban which was very good my wife had a salmon BLT which was also very good and the view was fantastic
Food was good but not the best I've ever had in my life. They did cook my scallops perfectly though. Great views of shem creek if you sit outside. Definitely a chill vibe. Would highly recommend for brunch.
I really love this place when coming down to Charleston every summer with my family! The food is awesome and the service is awesome. I really like coming here as a family tradition.
Drinks and food were good !! Service was excellent!! Atmosphere and view were phenomenal
Loved the food, service and atmosphere. I'll return when I'm back in the area.
Always a family favorite, always start with the Cajun Popcorn. Afterwards, we like to walk along the waterfront and through the marsh. Best spot on Shem Creek!
This was my second visit. Very happy both times. Varied menu, beautiful views, inside or outside seating. Prices are reasonable. It would have been 5 stars, but they don't serve frozen drinks. I wanted a frozen Margarita
Loved the view on the outdoor deck. Great prices on cocktails, too. Key lime pie was excellent! Reasonable prices all over the menu. Looking forward to going back in future visits to Charleston.
Great food and outdoor atmosphere.
Amazing food and a true southern experience! I'm not a tomato fan, but I recommend the fried green tomatoes!!
