This Restaurant is included in the category of Indian restaurant.
Creative dishes. Shared 3 between two people. Excellent service. A bit expensive. Enjoyed the veggie-tahini-curry dish.
Food was good but menu was mislabeled. Ordered pani puri and was served dahi puri. Overpriced too, $9 for 4 pieces.
This is a must go in Charleston. The atmosphere has a good mix of class and fun but the food is the star. Perfectly seasoned Indian dishes with some of the best falafel I’ve ever had. It’s not spicy junky hot, it’s the right blend of heat and flavor. Perfect date spot. Everything was amazing.
This place is ridiculously overpriced. Food is good but a tiny pie for 12 bucks? Go somewhere else
Excellent!
The food and service is always exceptional. One of of the few places I always leave with my expectations blown out of the water
Delicious food but I could get the same quality and literally quadruple the portions at any take out place. Portions are so small you will never be full. Drinks sound fun and fancy but taste like dirty socks. Waiter was the most pretentious person I’ve ever met.
Naan and dish we ordered we're too salty. The main dining room has no sound dampening and is way too loud. Bathroom doesn't have a vent or window.
Beautiful setting, fantastic food and cocktails. Truly unique to Charleston.
Two weeks open and excellent!!
Great food, Great atmosphere and Great service!!!
Nice
Really amazing food. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever tasted. You’ll be astonished.
Unique flavors in an incredible setting. Nothing else like this in Charleston.
Took my beloved wife to an amazing birthday dinner here, excellent wines in 2 oz tasters that paired beautifully with each unique and flavorful healthy dish! Even got parking in the discrete lot on site.
Fantastic food especially for a restaurant that just opened and is still figuring it out, would go back in a heartbeat
I thought this was Indian? No chutneys for Nan or Rice? Not even upon request? How can you be Indian without the 3 Chutneys? I ordered the lamb taco's and they were not bad, but not a lot of meat and kind of greasy. I also ordered a bowl of rice. Nothing to put on it. No FLAVOR for your rice. Everything on menu is tiny except the ice in your expensive $11 Cocktail. Don't get lost looking for parking because tu does not have a phone. Staff not Friendly. This is not an Indian experience. at all. I love Indian food. Tu is for people who like to pretend.
Great service
Interesting menu, tasty food. Prcing slightly high for Indian type cuisine.
Well as the name says it’s a fusion food, so it’s not your authentic Indian food. Having said that my problem is mostly with the variety available - which is very very less. They literally had 8-9 items on the menu which includes starters to dessert. But the bar had plenty of options .... if you are hungry this is not the place to go.
Disappointed in the portion sizes served Sunday through Wednesday.
So incredible, loved everything especially the potato dish. The sizes of the dishes are perfect for sharing but they are also very filling. Very experimental and fun. The service was also fantastic and the interior is very cool and they had the best music playing.
Food isn't authentic indian food and overpriced for the portions served.
I’m legitimately angry that I don’t live in Charleston so I can’t come here every day of my life.
Best people. Best food. Best atmosphere. This is really the only place I want to eat out at anymore.
After an incredible lunch and outstanding service from Philip today, we came back for dinner tonight. It was our only chance to revisit, and I’m so glad we did. The dinner menu is amazing! Selena was great and helped us narrow it down—we’ll order the rest of the menu next time.
This place is a dump.
The food was very flavorful. However I didn’t like that the cooks decide when it comes out. Environment was offputing because it was a little pretentious. And the $14 cocktail I ordered mostly consisted of a huge ice cube that took up the entire glass. However the food was delicious!
Share lots of things! Get the drinks , amazing beverage program
Most expensive for not even less than half the quantity of the food than other Indian restaurants in the area. The price can be more for the location but Very much disapointed with the quantity. Also, there isn't much spread on the MENU. Just wanted to try a different one and ended up here. One can go here if ready to shed a minimum $40 for a tasteless (Indian Food) dinner. Comes no close in Indias taste compared to the other restaurants in the area. If you want Indian food, this is definitely not even the last option.
Great food in a wonderful setting.
This place is fantastic. We sat in the bar area and had excellent service. The garlic cheesy naan is exquisite. The pani puri is so so good. I do wish there were more than 4 bites in an order - maybe 6? - but it’s so so tasty. Everything we ate was insanely good. So wonderful! Would recommend. Oh and the service was great.
The food was very delicious. I loved their take of Indian classics, like the carrot riata. The drinks were decent, but not very balanced. The service was fast but not welcoming. We were nearly the only people in the place and would have lingered, but felt like we were imposing. Also, their lunch menu on the weekend doesn't include any dessert options.
Great food. Cool small ethnic plates to share. Not too many vegetarian options and no vegan options at all. Good service and a nice casual atmosphere.
What can say but wow! I called ahead on a Friday to let them know that I was bringing my family and when I arrived I was warmly greeted by a young man named Joey, he let me know that I had a table waiting and we were quickly accommodated. The vibe... Very cool (loved the playlist) the lighting and intimacy of the scene, we tried most of the menu and loved every bit of it especially the samosas. The cheesy naan bread was a hit with my children and the server was great at wine pairings with our other eats. We will definitely be back. Great food, great drinks, great people and vibes.
Great new restaurant
Fresh and innovative take on Indian cuisine. Definitely recommend.
This was one of the more unique dining experiences ive had in Charleston. The menu is full of interesting food pairings, the 4 plates i had were outstanding. There is a diverse list of $12 specialty cocktails $5 beers and a full spectrum of wines including an orange wine. The atmosphere is relaxed its more of a restaurant vibe than a bar. There is bar seating but its small, you can also sit outside in a covered patio area. Most plates were between $12-$15 and they offered a single dessert. Absolutely worth checking out especially if you've eaten at xiao bao biscuit. This is a going to become a regular spot for me.
Fantastic food and service .
Perfect spot for a mid morning pick me up!
I have to admit they try to be adventurous. The flavor that emnates is awesome. The ambience is great , service is great both five star. That said, the menu portrays classical Indian dishes with lot of creatives liberty and you wouldn't get the taste of Indian food. Indian food is more of Harmony of flavors than the texture and the cheff tried to make it texture vs Harmony. Also water served has to be in close range with ambience a d the water taste was horrible. It would make their money worth it if they could use a proper water purification system with mineral infuser by ion exchange.
Wow! Small, loud, vibrant place. All small plates, everything is a very clever riff on some kind of classic. Mostly Asian but new world and Middle Eastern influences as well. Go with 3-5 people! Menu probably changes pretty often, but our best dishes were the green tomato tacos and the wing bean tempura. Only complaint:this is beer food, not wine food. They only have beer in bottles and cans, so of course it is stale. A couple of taps would be very welcome.
Next level food with the same down home feel that XBB has. I still can’t believe this food. Incredible.
Tu offers a great, fresh perspective on dining. Charleston is, and any city would be, lucky to have them! Highly recommended!
Not close to authentic. Please remove that from advertising. Really disappointed, I was hoping to be surprised, but was let down.
Love the eclectic menu! Food and service was amazing!!
Dishes have high aspirations but I wasn’t impressed with any of them. In a foodie town your gonna have to do better.
I don’t think the food can be called as Indian food. It felt as if the Indian authenticity in the food has been lost because the stuffings were weird. How can samosa have cheese instead of potato? The same for a lot of other food we tried. Anyways the food was fine but not Indian. Other downside is the cost and the portion size. Cost was too high for the portion offered
5 STARS!! Full flavors, interesting and creative fare, foodies rejoice!
I really enjoyed my meal. The food is inventive and well executed. The whole staff was so pleasant and knowledgeable. Really great addition to the neighborhood. If you have a chance try the shaved ice, it was excellent! Can't wait to return.
Beautiful, fresh asian fusion. Must go.
New Year’s Eve menu was incredible- each course a spectacle of culinary delight- the ravioli w soft egg and lobster/-the food gras w black truffle sauce and an incredible desert- postre chaja
This is a must go-to if you enjoy Indian cuisine. They always keep the menu fresh, and the ingredients local. The service is always great. Be prepared for no reservations. If you've been to their sister restaurant Xiao Bao Biscuit, then you know the cocktails are always crafted to perfection. Be prepared for seasonal rotations in the menu.
Great food. Plate sizes really vary and don't necessarily correlate with price so it helps to look at what other tables are ordering.
The best Indian restaurant in South Carolina
Yes this is where you want to eat in the holy city
Amazing service. Delicious and creative food. Specifically enjoyed the Frito Misto and Shaved Iced. Plenty of gluten free and veggie options. Incredibly knowledgeable and passionate staff. Delicious cocktails!
Simply amazing dishes. One of the best restaurants, dollar for dollar. Don't miss out!
At at Tu last night. Loved every bite of our small plates. The atmosphere is totally cool and the wait staff was particularly friendly and helpful for Charleston. The best part of the meal came afterwards when the owner/manager gave us a tour of the place. He was so friendly and enthusiastic and thanked us for coming in. Again, something unusual these days in Charleston. Tu is a little hidden gem of light, color, smiles and unbelievably composed, delicious, spicy morsels. Loved it. thanks!!
Amazingly tasty
The new Indian concept is the bomb. We have needed a good spot downtown for Indian and Joey, Josh, and the team deliver. Will be back asap.
Came here early for dinner and at first was nervous as it was pretty empty. Well, that changes fast! Delicious food, great service, and we enjoyed meeting the couple at the table next to us and discussing our favorite dishes. We will be back!
Hard pass on returning here. Food was tasty although not spicy. Service generally good. One order apparently wasn't put in until we asked about it. Otherwise pretty good and we were pleased with the experience. Then this happened. We were there a little over an hour. We asked for our checks and as soon as as we finished signing, the host came in to ask us to leave because they needed the table for an 8:30 reservation. 1) their website says they don't take reservations and 2) that's generally not how it's done in hospitality. Don't worry guys, we won't take up a table again.
Extremely overpriced. Shrimp dish with four boiled shrimp was $13. A slice of the "bread of the day" was $4. The only reason this place received a second star is because the chicken fried steak and rib dishes were well prepared. Charleston has too many delicious restraunts to waste your time here.
The food was creative and good but everything was spicy even though the staff said it was not. The restaurant also does not accommodate children. There are no high chairs, no kids menu and the kitchen will NOT make any kind of child friendly dish.
Slightly fancier sister restaurant to Xiao Bao. Awesome service. Plenty of seating on the early side, more crowded towards 7:30-8pm. Better than average wine list. Highly recommend the Pho Carpaccio and the Steak dishes.
Food was good but very pricey. Not a large menu either. Very loud inside, but there is back outdoor seating also.
The best Indian food I’ve ever had... I’m Goan.... that’s euro/indian for all the idiots that gave this place below 5 stars... unbelievable quality food for the price. Best restaurant in Charleston!
Tu is fantastic!! We hosted our Rehearsal Dinner there for 40 guests back in February and have nothing but wonderful things to say about the experience. The food was delicious, creative, and appealed to even our pickiest guests. The Tu team did a wonderful job of providing a wide variety of spicy and non spicy dishes, as well as working with us to come up with a menu that would be perfect for a family style meal. Moreover though, the entire experience was first class- the staff is incredible!!! Kind and patient and handled some of our more "demanding" guests with ease haha. They hustled like crazy and worked very hard so that all the tables had food at the same time and no one was without a drink or something to snack on. Thank you to Joey, Josh and team for a wonderful night! We truly appreciate all of your hard work!
Overpriced, overhyped place. The food items were on and off some them had great flavors but the miniature sizes and the hidden charges are not good for the experience you want to have when you go out. Charleston has wonderful restaurants fortunately, hopefully the owners will consider to improve their service, food and charges as it is a beautiful space for sure.
Beautiful space!
We were not overly impressed with our visit here. The decor and presentation were nice, but the food was hit and miss. The appetizers we had were both very good, but the two main meat dishes we had were just fair.
We recently visited this restaurant based on the reviews. It did not match the hype given in the reviews. It was good to see them trying to cook Indian food. But the dishes didn't match the name. It is not an authentic Indian restaurant. the menu option especially for vegetarian was scarce.the quantity of the food was meager for the price charged. You will not be full with even 2 dishes on a hungry day. the restaurant was loud and noisy and a bit cramped
Cocktails on point. Atmosphere was nouveau eclectic and classy. Shishito and Frascatelli was awesome !!! TU is going to be my new regular visit in downtown Charleston . Can't wait for our next visit !! Dr Kurt and Vicki Staley
