REVIEWS OF Trattoria Giorgio IN South Carolina

Bob Rodde

Went here for our belated anniversary dinner and had a wonderful appetizer and meal (and service was top notch). Cost was very reasonable and we were seated in their outdoor garden.

Brandon A.

Went there based on great reviews and much of my thoughts are shaped on the reputation. The ambience is nice and the service/wait staff was great. Started with the bread (amazing) and lobster ravioli (pasta was very tough and seems frozen). Ordered the Bolognese and it was unbearably salty. Also had the shrimp linguine, which has a great flavor, but the linguine was very al dente and tasted like it was straight out of the box. Overall, not necessarily a bad experience, but given the reputation and tradition of the restaurant, was quite disappointed.

This is the nicest upscale Italian restaurant in Greenville! Make sure to make a reservation as space is limited, but it is well worth it!

Larry G

Delicious Caprese starter that was enhanced with the addition of some very nice Prociutto. Followed by their signature Bolognese. Just really delicious!

Knockout dinner. Excellent and intelligent service (by Chuck). The lobster ravioli appetizer deserves all the raves it gets in these and other reviews. Both dinners were outstanding - I would have licked the plates on the floor like a dog. Nice dining room. Well worth the huge tab.

Philippe Besson

Very good restaurant with good italian food and good wine. I recommand !

This place is incredible! Authentic Italian Cuisine, great service, cozy atmosphere. We have enjoyed this place several times and will continue to give them our business.

We enjoyed our dinner at Trattoria Giorgio. We were able to relax and enjoy each other without feeling rushed by our waiter, Chuck. Our food was very tasty, the service was on point, and the atmosphere was nice. We wl dine here again.

Read the reviews and were looking forward to some "authentic" Italian food. Infortunately for starters, they dont make their own pasta. We ordered pasta and meat sauce to start and the meat sauce was pretty good. Big problems with our Entrees. Shrimp was mealy liverlike texture, way over cooked. Duck was overcooked to a brown gray center. We had a reservation at 8:15 and just stood around when we arrived with no greeting and unsure what to do. Waiter eventually approached and said he would get the table ready. I stood at the door awkwardly for a few minutes before going to the bar to sit and wait. Really an overall poor experience. Mostly concerned about the bad shrimp since I was ill the following day...of course I only took one bite... We did not take more than two bites from each entree, waiter at first tried to tell us that the cook makes the duck that way...very well done...is this true?

2 strikes and you're out!! I have tried to do business with this place twice and both times they have been closed or out of town: (1st time) was on a Sunday and (2nd time) was on July 8, 2016 they closed for vacation. I'm giving up on doing business here. I'll take my people to Nose Dive across the street from now on. There are too many choices in Greenville SC better than having to beg these people to sell me a snobby plate of spaghetti.

Joy Leverich

Great food, wine, and ambiance. Professional, knowledgeable staff.

We had our 49th anniversary dinner here. This is a special place. Great atmosphere, the food is wonderful and pleasing to the pallet. It is a small Italian restaurant that takes pride in their service and food. We had an excellent wine to complement my roasted duck and my wife's pasta bolognese. The Tiramisu was a wonderful finish to a memorable dinner. You all need to go and ask for the table next to the sidewalk so you can critique the people as they walk by, fun!

My favorite Italian food in Greenville. This place is consistent and obviously successful, since it’s been around for 23+ years. Forget Lemoncello and any other. This place is the best!

When we lived in Greenville many years ago, we would frequent Giorgio's all the time because the food was so good; now back in town to visit family and friends, I was surprised to find that not only was it still open (since so much has changed downtown over the years), but the same people were still serving - which to me is a good sign that they are doing something right - and the food was as good as I remembered: especially the caprese salad, followed by the duck entree. The atmosphere was a bit loud inside, but it was a "happy, southern dinner sound" and not the obnoxious drunken noise you hear at other places (perhaps because their bar only has 4 seats!), and the do have outdoor seating when it is not too hot. A fond memory to repeat whenever I'm in Greenville!

Best Italian meal I've had since I moved South. I travel all the time. Service was excellent, thanks Chuck!

Another great meal.

Great northern Italian restaurant had super veal chop

Lipstick on the glass, frozen spinach, limited bottle beer selection... With a $20-$40 entree cost comes higher expectations. The food didn't come close to meeting our expectations.

This was the best Veal Scallopini Piccata I have ever had. A truly elegant Italian dining experience. It is family owned and operated. The staff was very professional and attentive. If you don't go you are really missing out!

Such a true Italian cuisine. I went with a few of the guys based on prior recommendation and the food was exquisite! I would highly recommend you dine here if you enjoy true Italian meals!

Read so many great reviews, decided to try it out with a friend. Not passing any judgement just sharing my experience.....I have lived and traveled to different countries including some major cosmopolitan cities like Hong Kong and using that as my point of reference.... I can always recognize a seasoned (and jaded) wait help because their whole demeanor is going through the motion with a well rehearsed script, insincere, impatient and that was who we had tonight. He greeted us with a brief intro of the specials and left rather abruptly because his bell chimed that his order from another table was ready ,I assume. Both my friend and I felt displeased at how he left us. When he came back for our order, I told him that I am lactose intolerant he actually told me I was in the wrong restaurant instead of making suggestions for me. I ordered pasta with clams and my friend had veal which was quite authentic. My pasta arrived al dente' and perfect temperature however the clams was nothing to write home about and the portion was so huge that it was almost non appetizing to look at. I understand most patrons mentality but there is a fine line between huge portion and just the right amount.

My wife and I came to eat here on 3/22/2014 and from the moment we walked in to the time we left we were not customers, but family. The bartender was very welcoming, as we were a little early for our reservation, but kept the drinks coming. The waiter was very knowledgeable and kind. Now the food, I could go on and on about how amazing it was, and how much you get, and how they should widen the door because of how much they give you but that would take to long! I found it a bit pricey but the quality at the end of the night made up for it. My wife and I thank you!

The perfect cure for the Italian Vacation Hangover - After spending a couple weeks in Tuscany, Florence, and several other areas in Northern Italy, we found ourselves craving another authentic Italian meal. The only problem is that we live in South Carolina. Greenville isn't known for their Italian food scene, so we figured we would be stuck at some generic pizzerias and Olive Garden. After our second visit to Trattoria Giorgio, we can say it's definitely the most authentic Italian restaurant in Greenville. The owner/chef Giorgio is from Bergamo and crafts dishes very similar to what we had in Northern Italy. The service is relaxed and european in style (meaning they won't rush you along to flip tables) and the food is fresh, simple, and flavorful. Highly recommended for an authentic experience of Italy, right here in Greenville!

THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST DINING IN GREENVILLE. MY WIFE AND I ALWAYS KNOW THE FOOD, ATMOSPHERE AND WAIT STAFF WILL BE TO NOTCH. IT IS UNMATCHED. THANKS AGAIN FOR A PERFECT EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the best Italian in town! Very small so I highly recommend making reservations. Sometimes getting a reservation is difficult so plan ahead.

This is the best restaurant in Greenville. The food is perfectly prepared and delicious - and the ambiance is quite lovely. I had given up dining out in Greenville except for casual fare. Am so very glad to have discovered this gem on Main Street.

First time here. My lamb special and canoli dessert were excellent. My guest's veal picata was tough in the thicker pieces maybe chef forgot to pound tender??? Service excellent. Would try again.

Finally made it to TG last night. We’ve tried many times but always waited till the last minute to try to get reservations and never worked out. Walked by last night and they had a table....lucky us. Started with the Italian cured meats. One of the meats was a little spicy for the wife which worked out perfect for me! We were starving after some music so we tore through it. Delicious! We had a salad, both were fresh, tasty and just the right amount. Main course she had the Bolognese and I had the Spaghetti with Clams in Red Sauce. What a difference freshly made pasta makes. We both loved our dishes but could only eat about half. Looking forward to the leftovers for lunch today! Overall an outstanding experience and can’t wait to go back and try something different. Definitely the best Italian we’ve had in Gville and maybe the best meal too!

It is the perfect place for a first date: white cloth napkins, small-about 10 tables, double story high ceilings which keeps noise down, exposed brick, quaint atmosphere but not European, adequate lighting and non descript non intrusive background music, a bar (looks like you can eat at), two or three servers with a what I would call jaded(?) or maybe aloof service-which is good for first time dates since you will be left alone to chat all night, eer till 9.30 pm. >. Tip 1: the place is closed Sunday and Monday and opens the other five nights from 6-9.30 pm (not conducive for business meals) >. Tip 2: make sure you reserve (seriously) >. Tip 3: pasta dishes come in such humongous quantity, one cannot finish their food and gets a doggy bag or shares a dish (I have never EVER seen this quantity of food at any place on earth and I have no explanation or thought why) In general, food is not bad, just acceptable. With the exception of the 3-4 daily specials that are priced high-between $20-$28, the one page menu offers 4-5 salads, that many pasta plates, a few desserts-all priced in the $8-$15 range; it has a separate wine catalog (the two we ordered were very good). This is the second visit. My food -a pan sheared salmon special was good, my husband dared to order the lamb chops special and was satisfied and our two hosts had the heaping spaghetti Bolognese (meat sauce) and talked about why didn't they think to share... Overall, just food downtown Greenville (a violin/cello a few nights would Jazz it up and justify its existence). My title: Nothing to crow about! If no alternative solution, I would eat there..

The waiter was very inattentive to us the whole time. This restaurant has about 10 tables and two waiters, 3 or 4 tables were empty. It was obvious he was singling us out (I'm assuming because my husband was the only African American in the restaurant) and not filling our drinks. Never once did he even ask if our food was ok. He went to the table next to us 4 times before he came back to ours. Sad to see someone act so horribly in our awesome town. We were recommend to go here from friends, and unfortunately were highly disappointed. Food was mediocre at best. Will not go back. I don't know our waiters name, but I know it was not "Eddie" it was the other gentleman.

We just spent my wife's birthday here. I gotta agree with previous review that this place is a true hidden gem in Greenville. Very small, cozy & romantic. The food will be some of the best food you will have had in your lifetime. Everything is amazing from the bread to the mootz to the entrees.

This is such an amazing place. I had the linguini with shrimp in a creamy garlic white wine and olive oil sauce with PESTO. The shrimp were enormous. I could not make a dent in the plate and I have a healthy appetite. My friend had the spinach ravioli with walnuts in a cream sauce. Smooth and delicious perfection. Highly recommend. Fabulous staff. Super kind. The chef comes out to greet you and makes sure you enjoyed the meal. I will be back.

I have been wanting to eat here for years and it never worked out for some reason. Well I finally made it and boy was it good! By far the best Italian food I've had in years!!! The service, the quality of the food... Everything was impeccable! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Great food and great service!

Overall I was NOT impressed and felt a bit bamboozled considering the prices and mystique of a restaurant that is only open for 3 and half hours - five nights a week. There are an increasing number of cool places in Greenville, so I will probably not return here. I had called 4 days ahead to make a reservation on a Saturday and was told 8PM was earliest available. When I arrived, there were no other customers except one table, weird... Our server was friendly, but not "fine dining" professional - Our bread seemed like it was a few days old, extremely stale and hard. I had to fill my own wine glass once after waiting a few minutes for someone to notice we had empty glasses sitting there. Atmosphere was decent, intimate, but nothing noteworthy. Wait time for food was about what it should be, presentation and portion were average, silver and glassware were clean. I enjoyed my 45 dollar pork chop special smothered with cream cheese, but really along with steamed spinach, this was a meal i could easily cook at home. My wife ordered shrimp linguine, which was very basic (read bland) and the shrimp were not cleaned. Based on that, we decided to not stay for dessert. For this unjustified price point, you really need to do more to stand out from your competition.

Small intimate place. Wonderful food and service
