Excellent experience even though our company contacted them for a holiday lunch (for 40+) at the last minute, staff was awesome, friendly and professional. Food was great, served buffet style with immediate refills on any dish as it got empty. Definitely would recommend this as a lunch or dinner choice if Indian buffet is an option.

This is the best Indian food in all of Charlotte. I ate there today for the buffet and everything was absolutely delicious!!! The staff there is very friendly but nothing beats the great food!! I am lucky that I only live 10 mins away, try this place out if you love Indian food like i do :)

This restaurant is like no other desi food joints. I have been to Charlotte couple of times and have tried this restaurant. The Vijayawada biryani is very special, taste is uncomparable and gives you an authentic indian taste. Another item that is out of this world is the grilled fish, this one is incredibly light and flaky, mouthwatering, and perfect with wine. Next time will try other items. The only thing lacking here is a wide array of wines.

We have ordered food for my daughter birthday party with around 70 guests…. food was delicious and authentic homemade Indian food with high-quality. Everyone commented on how amazing the food was and where I ordered. I recommended to my friend for his house warming and he also ordered and he was very happy with food. Visited for the first time after the restaurant changed names 2 years ago. As I walked up to the door, the aesthetics of the outside were lacking. Tint was peeing off the doors, closed sign was not lit but hanging crooked in window. As I entered I immediately noticed a difference in the ambiance. It was much more casual than the previous setup. There was a drink dispenser off to the right by the checkout that had a plate under it with residual dried liquid. It caught my attention as this is not what I am used to seeing here. The buffet was ok. It didn't have a great variety but the flavors of the food were pretty good. Naan was over baked, crispy and dry. There was a side of chickpeas off to the left of the buffet on an extra large serving dish. The dish wasn't covered and was completely exposed to the open air and anything floating by. Service was mediocre. The waitress came by once to take our used plates but didn't check on us at all. Their were used napkins on the floor that the staff walked by several times and no one picked up. There was plenty of water available at room temperature. Pitchers were provided but no ice. Although the food was good for the little that I tried, I probably won't go back. There are other Indian restaurants in the area that offer good food, clean ambiance a d more attentive service for the price.

Both the times I visited this place I was not very impressed by their service. Could be better and more professional. Long wait times even when there are many vacant tables. Cleanliness need to be improved. Smudgy glass doors and shabby front desk make you wonder how things are in the kitchen.

Great value on weekend buffets, included mango lassi and spiced tea. Usually spicy and cause heartburn afterwards from overeating, but worth it! Packed during main lunch hours and not a huge space, so may need to wait a few minutes for a table.

Very poor customer experience. Waited for 15 mins and could see they seating other customers in front of you who just cuts the line in front. They are not even apologetic and I had to literally walk away than dining here. You need to have a proper table management for better patronage

Tabla was a wonderful surprise. We had previously came here when it had more southern indian dishes. As soon as we saw that it changed oownership and I am so glad we did. Each dish is full of flavor with vegetarian simosas, channa masala, Gobi stew dish, sambar, and many more vegetarian dishes as well as a selection of fish, chicken and goat dishes.The meats were made from tandori style to curried. For dessert that have some indian sweets that you just cannot say no to. Would highly recommend.

Tabla was pretty good food, that was served pretty quickly. I tried the chili chicken, the pepper goat curry, reshmi chicken was good after being paid with the cilantro chutney, and all the naans (plain, garlic,and cheese) were awesome. The chicken biryani was nothing to rave about, but the chicken in the biryani was seasoned very well. The price was decent for the quantity of food, a couple of people can easily share a dish.

Excellent food. We had an event organized in the banquet hall adjacent to the restaurant. Manjesh (owner) was honest about the food options and the portions needed. We went with his suggestions and it turned out to be a wise decision. Food was really good and all the guests had excellent time . Staff was also very helpful . Will recommend for sure.

Service quality is very poor, after getting a table we had to ask around 3 to 4 time's for water. After placing the order for about 5 minutes one person comes out and tells us that sorry we ran out of food it was not even closing time. Then we placed different item's and requested to keep spicy level to mild [for kids] but they didn't care and made it very spicy. On top of all this for 3 adults and 2 kids they have charged service charge of 18%.

One of the best Indian restaurant in North Carolina. The food is incredibly delicious and the taste is very consistent. Every item we tried on the menu is excellent. Never disappointed. We really enjoy their lunch buffet as well, especially on weekends. While everything is delicious on their menu, their biryani’s and tandoori items are a must haves. Owner is also very humble and professional. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

We are regular visitors to Tabla nowadays.Most of the times service and food quality are good but yesterday the service was pathetic.The main course served before starter and nans were served without main course to one of the other customers. We have waited for items for more than 45 minutes. When I asked manager, the simple answer was that they had too many orders. When you can not handle too many orders, Do not accept them. I hope the service will be handle better when you have many orders.

Typical desi restaurant, poor service and food. Went for Buffet, no alacarte on weekends, poor service and food. Fruit juice served in sampler cups, they dont even attend table and ask for drinks. The food is good if you go and order from the menu. Since they have to prepare each plate they take in consideration how spicy you would like your meal. But if you go to the buffet hours and you are not spicy tolerant your stomach will suffer. Don’t get me wrong I like spicy food but lately the food is so spicy hot that you can’t even enjoy the food or finish your plate.

Tabla restaurant is a basic dishes buffet type Indian restaurant. It is a simple setting, at a simple price. On a weekday lunch, it offers 4 variations of chicken. Tandoori, massala, curry were my choices. Along with these offers, there were 4 rice dishes, a couple of other accompanying dishes and naan bread. Also dessert, salad and water bottles. Everything was flavorful and true to its base. Easy access, plenty of parking, clean. Set lunch price:$9.00 +tax. Not bad at all.

This probably is the best south Indian restaurant in South Charlotte. I have dined in and more often have done pick up orders and both times haven't been disappointed. Very consistent. Lot of options on the menu to try out from. They have different spice levels such that authentic taste seekers are not disappointed. Lately they have introduced several different types of biriyanis which makes their menu even more versatile. I hope they keep up the standard.

We went there for the Sunday lunch buffet. Food quality was good, if not exceptional, we liked. The space is not adequate to handle the Sunday lunch buffet crowd and felt too cramped. Some of the key non vegetarian items took ages to refill. In fact, one of them never got filled even after around 10-15 minutes wait, and then we left. On the whole, not a very bad experience, but also makes sense to explore other options for weekend Indian lunch buffet later.

Update: after posting, the manager reached out to me and I was able to go back and eat at a different time and the website is being updated. Great customer service and the kids were right. The food is great. Thank you Table for being willing to listen and help correct the concern. The restaurants website has no information about the buffet or hours. It also does not state that if they are serving the buffet then no menu items can be ordered. My kids really wanted to eat here so I looked and made sure the menu had items that would accommodate my good allergies. We arrived and after my kids had gotten food were told I could not order anything separate. So I had to watch my family eat. I explained that it was an allergy and was told it did not matter. The kids said the food was good.

Great buffet, freshly made and versatile selection of dishes. Excellent lunch choice in the area, in my opinion. Maybe there should be additional explanation regarding ingredients, I am not as well versed and wasn’t sure what the different dishes are, and also what are the condiments they offered. I am sure though they would’ve explained, but I didn’t bother asking. Overall - very good experience.

The place may not look lively compared to some other restaurant chains but don't go with that. It us still decent place. Very good food. Authentic taste. I am vegetarian and I have only tried Biryani and couple other items but you can go wrong with Biryani. Expect a little longer wait (that takes away 1 star) but worth it. Quantity of Biryani is good so careful if you are in group.

The reason I decided to write this review is because this is one to many times that this restaurant's buffet has made us sick with ridiculously and unnecessarily hot food. The restaurant serves very good food and even made me stop going to my other "go to" Indian restaurant in town for a while. Ordering a la carte is great and pretty consistent. Probably the best butter chicken I've had. The problem lays with the lunch and weekend buffet. The food is inconsistently cooked. One day everything will be very enjoyable and balanced, but more times than none, especially lately, the food would be ridiculously spicy to the point of making it indelible, uncomfortable and even making you sick. I have a pretty high tolerance to hot food but sometimes its just impossible to eat, making you waste money on a buffet that you can't even finish half a plate. This issue is not with just one or two dishes offered, but with every single item on the buffet. It appears that they have some cooks with a heavy hand with the masalas and others not so much. Also, as a restaurant, they should worry more about their customers. They have been focusing on catering large events sometimes neglecting their customers, either not giving you proper service or making you wait a ridiculous amount of time for food, because their kitchen staff is too busy preparing a catering order. They would even sell out certain dishes even after you order them because of this. This restaurant has a lot to offer and with more consideration to other palates, and not just their hindu patrons , it would be the best Indian restaurant in town.

We had catered food from tabla resturant for my son’s birthday event. Food was excellent and tasty. EVERYONE in the event APPRECIATED and LIKED the food. Appetizers chicken 555 was juicy and fantastic. Baby corn Manchurian and Paneer butter masala was awesome. Naan was soft. Chicken chettinad and goat(soft and very well cooked) curry was spiced up perfect and tasty. Best Vijayawada biriyani I had so far, it was the highlight( it got over). Gajjar halwa was sugared perfect. Veg biriyani was tasty as well. Manjesh from resturant helped me in ordering the right quantity based on the people count. Riju was very helpful and very welcoming at the resturant. I would strongly recommend anyone to confidently to go with catering order.

I can say quality of the good is good here. Service can be improved a lot. I ordered a dish first, only to get a response from the waiter that the dish is unavailable after 10 minutes. Finally ordered a Vijayawada Special Boneless Chicken Biriyani.They have marked this dish as a best seller. It tastes good but I can only accept it as a chicken fried rice and definitely not as a Biriyani. Rice wasn't flavorful enough to account it as a Biriyani.

Does not really matter a lot when your waiter lies to you on your face ! We recently had a bad experience while visiting Tabla. It all began pretty decently till we were done with the starters, which was pretty decent. The biriyani's we ordered was below average. The main bummer however came when did not receive our check and decided to go over and pay at the desk. Our waiter Ve***(not putting up the name, was in the receipt) billed us up. I asked if the tip was added and he replied with a 'No'. The amount that popped up on the screen looked a bit on the higher side for the 5 dishes we ordered, so I asked him again, 'Are you sure the tip is not already added ?'. He replied firmly with a 'No, it's not'. So, I went ahead and added a decent percent as the Tip as the device prompted and just entered my email I'd for getting a detailed receipt in my inbox. I didn't give too much thought into it until I received my receipt at a later stage in my inbox. I had apparently tipped the waiter twice and ended up paying close to 45 % extra as tips alone ! My problem here is not the % or the amount that I paid for the pretty average service and courtesy, it's the blatant lie by the waiter that is the problem. He lied to my group twice, all for a few bucks. You, sir, lost your restaurant a customer and some Goodwill with that gesture. Edit (To the Owner's response): Really appreciate the reaction from your side and glad to know that corrective measures were taken from your side to make sure the incident is an one off. As I already mentioned, my primary concern was about the gesture and not the money involved and hence my friends and I are good with your response alone. As for the rating, we will update it based on our next visit :)

One of the best indian cuisine in Charlotte. Polite staff and good range of South Indian dishes. They customise the spice level based on your request. Had a good time with my good friend. Wonderful, and worth for repeat visits.

I have been here twice and they are not very friendly, but last night the guy up front was talking on the phone and completely ignoring all of the customers in line. After 10 minutes, I got fed up and left. I have never seen such rude and unprofessional service before. I will never be returning.

My first time here and definitely not my last. If you desire authentic Indian cuisine hands down the BEST I ever tasted. The curried goat, butter and bullet naan ( made with green chiles), paneer tikka masala and Gongura chicken curry oh my goodness I can't tell begin to explain the layers of spices and love put into these dishes. Nestled in a small strip mall 15025 Lancaster Hwy in Charlotte. Make a special trip....I'm so serious you will fall in love!

Really good place. The lunch buffet had a great variety including things I've never tried before. I love how they separate vegetarian and non vegetarian items. It has a lot more heat than many of the other places in Charlotte.

Wow this place has changed. It used to be a buffet, banging Bollywood music, kinda noisy but laid back, a little expensive but the buffet was so so good. Now, the Bollywood TVs are off, the buffet is gone, the food is expensive, though I will admit still tastes good. The phone rings incessantly.

What a gem! I love Indian Cuisine. I haven't had Authentic Indian Food in a while. It was very flavorful. The spices were on point 100% . And I loved that that had a pretty good vegetarian selection. This was the best!!! I would totally recommend this place to family and friends. ALSO the staff and owners were very kind and courteous! The Mango Lassi was on the house! I had 2! Yum!

Gongura goat!!! Their best. Starters were bad. But main course like curries and biryanis worth the money. Warning:: Gongura goat or chicken - Spicy!!! No way of changing them to mild. Also they raste better that way. :-).

Really wonderful food with options that aren't too spicy. We got samosas, chicken 65, and chicken tikka masala. All of it was delicious and large portions. Fast takeout service, too.

A restaurant experience is a combination of food quality and service. While Tabla makes decent food, their service needs improvement. I suggest staff training on greeting customers, general cleaning procedures, and customer service.

Food is spicy so keep that in mind before going there. The service is not the best but it is nothing you can't handle (they are getting better, the owner is open to critics so I think that's pretty cool). The buffet price (to go) on Fridays is set by weight, any other days you pay around $11 no matter the weight. Worthy to visit.

Food is good -- I wish the servers and the front desk could serve with a smile. Have a flat affect. Even though you are paying money, the attitude and service is that you feel that I should be extremely grateful to receive food. If the servers and the billing person expect payment similar to other restaurants - atleast serve with a smile and courtesy - "Can I get you some water?" The customer service and experience will go a long way.

For me the buffet at Tabla has definitely been among the Best Indian restaurant in Charlotte. They are having a small spread, but a delicious one. The tandoori, butter chicken and biryani in the buffet are amazing. It's definitely my to go restaurant and buffet in Charlotte. Only drawback of the buffet is that the variety more or less remains the same and refilling is limited after 2 pm.So would suggest to reach a bit early.

We drove an hour to this restaurant because of the good reviews on the internet. We had a very bad experience here and will not be going back. Our server was very inattentive and paid much more attention to the incoming internet orders on his pad than he did to us and our table. He actually forgot to bring me my dinner after he delivered my husband’s dinner. I had to approach him while he was on his pad to remind him I still needed my dinner, and this was after I waited 15-20 minutes after my husband’s dinner came out. The food is expensive for the small portions we received and it appears most entrees are a la carte. The items that we ordered that were marked as mild were so spicy they were almost inedible. The decor and atmosphere in the restaurant seems disorganized with lots of items just shoved and stored against the walls. This place seems like a carry out restaurant that added tables as an after-thought.
