The host greeted us and helped us in choosing our items. He explained what everything was and made suggestions as to what or not to get in regards to not only our personal preference but what goes well together. The food looked amazing and tasted very authentic, fresh and delicious. Generous portions. You could choose from Indian or Indo-Chinese menu items. This is not an upscale place. Very casual. Everything looked clean.

Arrived about 30 min before closing time and they were very pleasant. Ordered the Chicken Chicara and it was fantastic! We split the chilly/garlic and plain garlic naan and both were great. I'll have to remember this place for future reference! I love some good Indian food.

Incredible!!!! Delicious doesn't begin to describe it---its more like addictive. The Malai kofta is one of the best things I've ever eaten and the navratan korma is so creamy and perfect for dipping your naan. I'm on a quest to try the entire menu---so far, everything has been fantastic! The owner is very helpful and can also provide suggestions :)

I used to eat here, I would suppose, perhaps more than any other customer. The food here is top notch and there truly is no other Indian food quite in their league in Columbia. However, the last few times I went I utilized a coupon found online where you can order $20 worth of food for $10.00. This was a coupon the establishment acknowledged and consented to. On my last visit, the server, who I believe but am not entirely sure was the owner, gave me intense death stares the entire meal and made me and my spouse feel extremely uncomfortable. It was clearly intentional. We had bickered, in a sense, the last time we had eaten there and tried to use the coupon, but there was simply no excuse to treat long-standing customers that way simply because they use a coupon that you consented to. Go to Spice Junction instead in West Columbia. Their curry is good and much cheaper, if not quite as flavorful. The family there is so unbelievably friendly. Also, the food doesn't take 45-60 minutes to cook even when no one else is there like at Saffron.

I am an Indian and know the taste of Indian food very well. I went to this restaurant based on some of the good reviews but was totally disappointed. The vegetable curry I ordered was too bad; watery with hardly any vegetable in it. The taste was pathetic and I could hardly eat it. Complimentary rice that came with the food seemed to be stale. To aggravate the experience, the food was served in plastic plates. I don't think that this restaurant even deserves a one star. Bottom line - Extremely bad food and not worth the price.

Excellent food at this family-run establishment! This has been our go-to place for Indian in the Midlands. It's in the end unit of a building which houses a Frank's Tire, so it's not exactly fancy, but it's clean and the food is totally worth the ambiance.

The cuisine does not look like a fancy restaurant (actually looks a little low end by its appearance) but the food is authentic and delicious and you get great service there as a plus. Updates: after a couple of dining there we found the waiting time became longer and longer even though it was noticeably not busy time when we were there. What made it worse was we only found three or four small pieces of meat in our goat Curry orders. Hope they could look into this otherwise...

I visited to this restaurant along with my colleague and we tried their new Veg and Chinese Platters. Their food tasted amazing and the prices were so affordable. Their staff was also super friendly. I will definitely return with my family and try some more new dishes. I also heard they are coming out with a new Thai menu. For sure, I will recommend this place to you all.

I typically do not like leaving negative reviews, however, I did not have a pleasant experience at all. The wait staff were the very nice and the food came out within a decent time...however...this food was not very tasty and several items were severely bland, under done or just plain inedible. I know my Indian/Desi fair very well since..I am desi lol.. This place had the worst samosa I've ever had. Undercooked with bland tasting aloo filling. Our entrees tasted bland and the chicken had a strange smell to it. At the end of all this, the food ended up making us vomit very badly. I don't know if we just came at a bad time or what...Truly sad since this place has many high ratings. Update: This has ended up with me getting a mild case of food poisoning. I am highly disappointed.

BF and I went around 8pm for dinner. We got the garlic naan, chicken saag and tikki masala (spice level 3). The food was delicious and the portion size was just enough (no leftovers). It came to about $30 with the tip. Saffron allows customers to byob. We brought in some red wine (don't forget the opener) and had a fine evening. The food is fresh so it takes a while getting it to the table. Keep that in mind if you're making plans.

I was hungry, we had driven around for an hour looking for something different but the restaurant didn't look open with the dark windows and it looked like the tire store next door but it was, the food was good though not cheap eats but prepared to order, wife enjoyed the Mango Milkshake, I, the Rose Lassi. Best place to wait for your food for more then 1 hour and after that if you dare to ask waiter how long for my food and the chef from kitchen shouted loudly it takes time to cook food “holly fu*k more then 1 hour to feed 3 people” I m a chef by profession and had worked with many fast food chains but we never took 1 hour to feed 3 people on a single table!!!! Must visit to waste your time and money And for sure ask for salt when you place the order because the waiter not gonna listen to you never!!! Beaware of flies and roches comes out from kitchen with your food!! Thanks

I placed an order online, arrived 20 minutes later like their website said, only to be told their online ordering doesn't work so (obviously) they didn't have my order. I sat there and waited an additional 30 or so minutes for my food. I ordered vegetable jalfrezi and mirchi pakora, both of which were DELICIOUS and obviously fresh but I didn't really feel like spending my Saturday night at a restaurant which is why I ordered ahead of time. Staff was very friendly and apologetic which is why I'm only subtracting one star.

I went at Saturday buffet time, not busy, great taste, just Indian food, not Mexican or Chinese food is in the buffet. Few dishes from where to choose 8 variations and 2 kind of rice. 2 desserts. The "unnamed" dessert was delicious. The buffet change between days. Naan is included in the buffet. Good customer service, nice people. I just would like to suggest, to have more options in the buffet.

Good food. Atmosphere definitely leaves much to be desired. I had the lamb Rogan Josh with rice and regular naan. It was tasty but it did not come with that much rice. I had way more meat and sauce left over. The naan was slightly over cooked. Overall, I would go back because I love Indian food and it is the closest one to my house.

I have never written a review for a restaurant but this place is worth a visit to anyone passing through or in the area. Over the course of a little over a year I have had several different dishes from this place and can't get enough. Every time I go I try to get something different but the assorted pakora, naan bread (any kind) and Biryani (any kind) is always what we end up starting with and a great starting choice for anyone. So far I've tried the Lamb and the Veggie Biryani and both are awesome. The Curry is really good and we recently fell in love with the chicken saag as well. You really can't go wrong with this place. Just typing this out makes my mouth water and want to swing by for some saag after work. If you have never tried Indian food this is the place to go. My fiancé had not had this type of food all her life until I dragged her to this place enough times for her to try it. Now she won't share any of the leftover saag with me. If you have any questions about the menu the folks there are very helpful, and are also very cognizant of the level of heat you ask for when ordering your dish. If you like cheese go with the palak paneer. I have no idea what's in it but best comparison is a delicious solid cheese in a creamy buttery gravy. We pour it on rice and dip naan bread in it. Talk about perfect for the winter months. This place is amazing and consistently high quality. Thanks Saffron for consistent and awesome service.

Very enjoyable experience. Real authentic East Indian food made with love. The music set the stage for my dining pleasure, with the latest East Indian pop music. Followed by a waiter, who was genuinely attentative to my needs. My appetizer was Samosas. Great pick, because it was so good that I wanted another order. I told the waiter that I came from California. He was so excited, he fixed me up with all the condiments to accompany my great meal. Lamb Briyanni, side of lamb chops and garlic Nan. YUM YUM. I ended my meal with mango lassie. Overall, it was a great culinary experience. Great food!

I was in town on business and decided to try something new. The food was amazing. I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo with a side of Garlic Naan. They asked what spice level I wanted for the Vindaloo and it was perfect! The servers were very attentive and made the meal that much better. It may be small, but definitely stop in if you're in the area.

How is this place not busy!? My husband and I had it all to ourselves. Meat and vegetable samosas as an appetizer were great (although his was not completely hot in the center...mine was perfect). He had chicken tikka masala and I had the lamb rogan josh. They customized the spice level to a 3 of 6 so it was perfect for me. The garlic naan bread was toasted just right too. This could be a new favorite place.
