Nice location, slow on service but good food

This place used to be the main place for great hamburgers on the beach. They still allow you to write on the walls with sharpies . That is a nice feature of this establishment . For people vacationing here this place has a awesome location right along Ocean Boulevard. The management here seems like customers are the enemy when they are so busy. They get right hateful for no reason because they are so busy. The food quality just doesn't seem as good as it used to be. Just not as fresh tasting and not piping hot like it used to be. The burgers are still pretty decent size but the service seems like they have to instead of a want to out of the people running this place. Nobody likes to go to a place where they feel like they're doing you a favor. My wife had to help them at the bar make new plates for the hamburgers. They did not even offer Us free dessert or any kind of discount for helping them with their dishes. Everybody was not ready for the crowd. They ran out of tea they ran out of dishes. The food was not coming out of the kitchen that fast. And what's so funny is they already had a lot of the hamburgers cooked. Which I think is a No-No in a fresh hamburger place. I still say you're better off driving down the road a little bit and going to Logan's Steakhouse. They stay open late you don't have to wash or help them with the dishes. And you still get a good military discount or a local discount. And the hamburgers have much better meat quality. And the big Key to Logan's is they are charcoal grilled. A much better Beach hamburger. Enjoy my tip.

I come here every time I am in Myrtle Beach. Love the atmosphere and the fact that it is so family/kid friendly. The fried zucchini is amazing and I really suggest it with the avocado ranch. I've tried several of the burgers and they have all been great! They do serve peanuts so if you have an allergy be aware. But you can throw the shells right on the floor which the kids find very entertaining.

I must have just picked the wrong day, oh wait, that should never be the case as I am the CUSTOMER. This might sound stuck up, but as the customer, I want my food regardless of the amount of people or the time. It should not take 3 HOURS TO MAKE MY GOD DANG FOOD. WE HAD CHILDREN AND A TABLE OF 10. THIS IS INSANE, ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. Whole tables have left already eaten and probably gone to sleep now. What the heck is wrong with this restaurant. It should not take this long. 3 refills before I even got my order, what? This food needs to make me live forever or give me all the knowledge in the world if the restaurant ever wants me back. And now it's gonna take an extra 25 minutes to eat my food. This is retarded. But the burgers were good, not oily and very well done. The waiter got them mixed up at first and my company did not get their guacamole either. Edit: But... but. The waiter was just amazing regardless of what I said earlier. It was never his fault and he was able to handle our bad attitudes perfectly and he was just overall a great waiter. He just redeemed the whole restaurant. His kindness was just a godsend for our family. He might know who he is depending on when he reads this, if ever. Thank you. To me, you saved your restaurant from being on my "never to go to ever" places.

The OMG monstrosity is not recommended... For one average eater. Its a burger experience that you'll mention when recapping your vacation to all of your friends. It's a burger that can be seen in outer space and would make the astronaut's mouth water with it's greasy goodness. Is it healthy? Certainly not. Is it delicious? Absolutely. 5/5 would consume again after I sleep off this diabetic coma...

Lady seating people was incredibly rude and then proceeded to bump us to the end of the list after one of the workers accidentally paged us that our table was ready. Only giving 3 stars because food and server was excellent. Definitely ask to be waited on by Spencer. He was very attentive to what we wanted and kept up with getting refills and anything else we needed.

Absolutely loved this place. Best burger I've had in years! Server was fantastic friendly and very helpful. Little wait time to get seated but I would wait hours if I had to for this food. So good! The food was excellent. I had the chicken burger which was great good portion sizes too and we had a lovely server. We sat at the bar which was nice. The mixed drinks barley have alcohol you won't taste it and if you like that good but we asked for more And the server made our other drink dirtier. High prices for bar drinks for it not to have enough liquor and the only people of color we saw that worked there worked in the back I didn't see any people of color in the front over all 3 stars for the speedy service and deeeelicious burgers

The waitress was horrible. Did not keep drinks refilled, dissapeared most of the time. The check has 5 drinks and there were only 4 of us. Burger was the only thing that was good. The rest of the food sucked. Will not be back. There are plenty more places to go, this is not the only restaurant.

I wanted to visit here while on vacation. Parking is metered so be prepared to pay with quarters. Dining area is small and although nobody was waiting we were told 40 mins or we could sit outside. It was about to storm but we went ahead outside since we paid for an hour of parking. Fried pickles were very tasty. While we were waiting on our food it started pouring. We were halfway under umbrellas but still getting wet. You could see into dining area and it was clearing out. Would have been nice to be offered to move. Waitress was nice and attentive. Food was good but had to swallow it whole.

What can I say River City food is always awesome! Every visit to Myrtle Beach we go to River City! Service was good.The onion rings are awesome! Pretty much any burger you cannot go wrong with! The beers in bottle are ok but I wish they at least had a few draft/on tap beers! Sometimes a draft beer just hits the spot!

Our last trip to Myrtle Beach we went to their other location which I raved about. But this location was closer to the hotel so I figured we would go since their other one did not disappoint..well this one was not as great. Food was ok not as big burgers as I recall, just the detail to the food was not as good as their sister location; you had to search for the egg or guacamole on your burger. It was late dinner maybe that had something to do with it but next time I'm not going to take the chance I will go back to the other location.

I always go to the 21st ave n. location and the food and service there is amazing. This location was horrible. I decided to go to this one because my family was visiting and staying at a hotel near by. We waited 45 minutes to get our food. When our food finally arrived our burgers were all cold and fries were overcooked. The server asked us if we needed anything as she would walk pass our table never fully stopped to ask. Very disappointed.

The server was wonderful but the manager Tori was the worst manager, I have ever come across. She was rude and because of her I will never come back. The burger was horrible I took one bite and never took a second bite it was so gross. When I told my server she apologized and told her manager Tori. Tori said she will not replace the food and not free out the burger I didn't eat. She never even came to check on us. If there is ever a problem with food, a manager should always check on the table. I had to come talk to Tori when I was walking out and had to ask for her. So i paid for a gross burger that I didn't eat, and do to that manger I will tell everyone I know to stay away from River City Cafe!

River City Cafe is a new restaurant with several locations in Myrtle Beach SC. They are open for Breakfast and Lunch only. Food is very good with generous portions. Loved the Buttermilk Pancakes, very light and fluffy. Staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is free.

If you want that unique burger experience this is the place to be. This was our first time coming here and the customer service was quick and great! Now let's talk about those delicious perfect burgers! It felt like hubby and I were on one of those food channel shows eating an original not so common meal. Lol. My husband was feeling pretty daring and went for the kitchen sink meal (heavily load burger for sure) and I went with the cheetos burger which the burger meat alone was so full of flavor and cooked just right! Those virgin drinks were delicious as well! Glad we stopped by. It was pretty cool.

We love River City and my kids have asked to return to eat here every trip back to Myrtle Beach. This time we tried a different location and I am not sure why but our food was delayed after four other parties came in and was served ahead of us we finally received our food. Waitress was very kind. Food as always was awesome. There burgers are yummy and I have tried several. My son loves the man n cheeseburger and orders it every time. The onions rings are bigger than my hand and have to be cut into pieces to enjoy.

It was really good. It’s one of those places where everyone throws peanut shells on the floor. The atmosphere is fun and laid back. The wait was fairly short and our food came out quickly. The wait staff were all kind and attentive to everyone not just their own table. I had the veggie burger. The burger, and even the bread, was 100% vegan. The burger was bean based and honestly I ate it so fast I couldn’t tell you what else was in it, but I do remember that the bun was so soft!! 10/10 would recommend.

Didn't mind the hour wait, even paid to park. We were seated outside (party of 7) but had to clean off the seat before we could sit down. We were surrounded by flies, our burgers were burnt, chicken Philly lacked chicken. Server did his job but we will never go back. Ended this fine evening with a $30 parking ticket.

When I asked the waitress how much longer it would take she simply said, “I dont know.” She did not bother to check or help at all. The rest of the menu looked good too. We had a party of 12 and everyone raved about how good their meal was. We will definitely return when we come back to Myrtle Beach.

All I can say is that I would have been better off going to McDonalds. The golden arches is not my usual reference point, but at least I can expect a seasoned, hot, juicy, burger in less than 50 minutes. All the things I didn't receive here. I'm not really hating, I kinda expected it after looking at the menu. When restaurants start adding Cheetos and Doritoes to their burgers you've been served a clue.

After eight years of eating at River City we are finished with this place as of today! Thanks Debby for the worst service I ever had in my life. Now for the food the burgers were over cooked dry and tasteless, chilli cheese fries had about a tea spoon of chilli on them With a small sprinkle of cheese that wasn't even melted. PS how hard can it be to make a burger with cheese mayonnaise and GRILLED onion?

Went there about 830pm on Wednesday. Wasn't busy. I usually don't do reviews alot but thought I would in this case. Service was excellent. Peanuts, well I eat a lot of them at Texas Roadhouse. So I guess I know my peanuts. Lol stay clear of these peanuts. I had there hamburger and onion rings (qty 2 rings ) and Cole slaw. I liked everything about this place but hamburger was dry enough to dry up the ocean. Like a hamburger microwave after day after a great cook out. Honestly that would have maybe been better. I did get two oinion Ring's and I actually only ate 1 1/2. No flavor at all. Like I said I like the place but if your main item is hamburger. Which a lot of us love. Don't screw that hamburger up. I would not go back even for a free meal. The waiter was great. Girlfriend had a Reuben sandwich, she said it was good, only lacked a little more dressing to make it perfect. We just had McDonald's and honestly the big Mac was better. It's a shame for 31.00 in closing this review is mainly for the owner to get it right. Great location and great place but to fumble a hamburger.that's bad, it's a shame

I noticed before we arrived that we were going at the busiest time of the day. There was a wait as expected, so we decided to go to the bar and enjoy a drink. After a short time, we decided to just eat at the bar, since it was just two of us, rather than wait the 30 minutes that were anticipated for a table. Of course this place is known for their burgers. I love a good black and bleu burger, so had to go for that when I spotted it on the menu. The B&B burger had a nice thick bleu cheese spread on it, providing great flavor. Not the best I’ve had, but up near the top. The service was a little lacking at the bar since our server was also in charge of handling take-outs. It didn’t help that it was their busiest part of the day either, so we won’t fault them for that. Prices are pretty normal for the burgers, and they are a good size (1/3 lb?). It’s nice that they offer them ala carte and can chose to add fries and cole slaw for $2. Not a wide range of food beyond burgers, but it’s the burgers that get people here. Overall good food at a reasonable price.

Oh my gosh!!!!! River City Cafe was probably my most surprising find while visiting Myrtle Beach. The food was delicious, I mean it was so food that I devoured it before realizing that I didn't take any pictures, ugh! Everything from the grilled chicken sandwich to the French fries to the humongous onion rings to the peanut butter chocolate dessert was decadent. I'm not a big French fry eater but you eat one of theirs and you cannot stop until they are all gone. I love trying new places when vacationing and River City Cafe has earned a new fan. I've found my hangout spot for good food and great conversation as the entire staff were delightful to talk to while waiting on my food. As I was walking out, I saw 2 women about to enter and I immediately let them know that they were in for a real treat. My compliments to chef because my tummy experienced a foodie's dream. I will definitely be returning when it warms up to enjoy a meal on the open patio. See you soon River City Cafe!!!!

Came in last Saturday night by myself at about 9. The bartender was so self absorbed talking the ear off of a patron didn't notice me for 7 minutes. Turns around and says where did you come from. I said really? In that 7 minutes I saw a manager and 3 waitresses filter in and out of the bar. My face should have have had them asking. All in all service sucked. Took 45 minutes to get a burger. I was told there was a huge party before my ticket was put in and they don't skip tickets. WHY IS THAT MY PROBLEM. They called last call at 9.58 before I even got my food. This was my first night on vacation with 4 more people coming. I told the MANAGER I would never come back and he was like...well that's our policy not to skip tickets. Well good luck you aren't getting my money. And no OWNERS DON'T ASK ME TO CONTACT YOU REGARDING THIS. SCREW YOUR BUSINESS.

Multiple orders came out incorrect. Told the waitress about the problems she apologized but did nothing. Manager came over told her the same issues she did nothing. Steer clear you will get a better burger @ TGI Fridays.

Had a delicious bacon cheeseburger a few days ago and a yummy drink from the bar! It's been a while since ice come to River City and it was great! Our server was very nice too! She helped us with drink recommendations and if was very yummy!

While staying at a local resort we were told it was the best burgers here. We were excited until our waitress Adrianne was very inattentive and short. As if she didn’t have time to take care of us. Our drinks never received any refills. Which stunk as we had just come off the beach and were very thirsty. The kids meal grilled cheese was not even melted and the inside was cold. The fried pickles were very soggy and also cold when bitting into them. However when it was time to pay she was quick to get our check only to tell me afterwards that they don’t take credit cards. When I said I had to leave to go to a atm to get money she said I can’t leave . Really how do you expect me to pay? That waitress made our experience there a horrible one and will definitely not ever come back nor recommend this place to anyone. EVER!! Not a family oriented place. Really stinks having someone like her working in such a cute place that has endless opportunities ruined by one lady.

The waitress was not cordial, was rude and forgot half of our order. My food was COLD and was suppose to be HOT. One family member ordered chicken wings they were COLD and bar b sauce poured over the wings not baked over like others do. I live in MB and the service and food went lacking in this place. I don't care if she was having a bad day, evening or what but it was clearly taken out on me and my out of town guest I was hosting. That waitress needs to be put on the TO GO PLAN...AND BE FIRED!!!! I will go back but IF that waitress is my server I will ask for a new waitress or another table. My bill came to $96.00 and I was not nor my guest were treated fairly nor with respect. TIP LEFT????? DON'T THINK SO.........

I have to say when we opened the door my first thought was ," don't get your hopes up". Peanut shells cover the floor, tables and chairs look like they've seen better days and drinks come in plastic cups , all a part of the ambiance. Having said all of that ...hands down one of the best burgers ever, and that's why you want to go there. That's what they do, burgers, and they do them very well. Servers are friendly and fast. We will definitely return.

I read the good reviews about how good the burgers are here so we gave it a try. We could not have been more disappointed. I ordered medium rare and the burger was very greasy. In fact it was dripping grease and soaking the roll. My wife’s burger was well done so it wasn’t greasy but it was dry. The service was good and our server did a nice job. My advice would be to try a medium or maybe a chicken sandwich if you aren’t into burgers. For me, there are better burger places.

Will never return ordered 2 waters kids lemonade and fried mushroom app. The app got there before the drinks. Order food while trying to enjoy the mushrooms. Our server finally comes back around we ask about our food. She apologized for it. She never put it in for the cook. I paid my tab and left and will never return. Sad thing is similar experience last year. My family stays at long bay 3 times a year.

Not terribly crowded but had to wait at least 30 minutes on food. Burgers were crispy and fries were overcooked but still brought to our table. Waiter never offered to do anything the entire time we were there. Finally spoke to the manager and she offered to take two kids meals off. Probably just ended a long tradition we had of eating here each summer.

Arrived at 8:00pm and while busy found seating for the 5 of us. Waiter was spot on getting is drinks. Arrived with them a few moments later amd took our order. Wings, Ruben, burgers. Soup, and more. Waiter double checked the order and even though busy got everything hot and quickly. This location is a must stop in and will see us again.
