This Restaurant is included in the category of Italian restaurant.
The BEST Italian in Charlotte. You know those little restaurants that are stuck in a place they should not be, only the locals know about them and they exceed your expectations? This is the PLACE !!!!!!! They have the best Italian in Charlotte. Forget all of those Italian fusion, "high end" Italian places, those "trendy" Italian places to go after work...... Riccio's is the Standard Bearer for true High Quality Italian Food in Charlotte.
This was our first experience, and we will definitely come back. Authentic Italian cuisine, and very welcoming service. The chicken parmigiana, and veal piccata were delicious.
I really loved the lasagna, it was delicious!
A little on the expensive side. Service and food is good.
Really nice family-owned restaurant. Good selection of entrees and pizzas. Friendly staff for an enjoyable dining experience.
Always excellent. Always a pleasure. Very courteous and pleasant staff.
Mom and Pop place with excellent good and a plethora of choices. Restaurant kind of off the beaten path in an office park in Charlotte so there is plenty of parking.
Well-portioned servings. Soup and salad starters are extra $. Bread was a little dry; served without oil. No desert options offered. Waitress was a bit terse, although very friendly with others. Definitely worth a 2nd try.
Great hidden gem. Everything was awesome, including the service
This is a great local secret if you're in the area you should definitely stop by. Local legend!
I started going to Riccios back in 03 and I love this place! The food is awesome, the service was/has been fantastic! Unfortunately I had to move 3 hours away but, I will still make the drive just for the garlics knots and a pasta dish I can't remember the name of! You can tell this family loves their food & patrons! Keep up the great work!!! S. Derosa, Fayetteville, NC
Service was rushed. I went in with high expectations considering the history of this restaurant, food was ok. I understand you need to order the lasagna
Beautiful facilities. Thank you so much, for hosting our event!
Been going here for years. Great staff, great atmosphere, great drinks and some of the best pizza in the Queen City! BBQ chicken is one of my faves!
Awesome pizza
Good food, very filling. Large portions
Lovely place with history and style. Ive been neaning to come here for years, kept seeing the sign off 51. Glad we finally did. Its a family owned business thats been around since 1962. They have authentic dishes and you can tell time and expertise has went into each one over the last half century. We loved the pizza and the pasta! Well be back for sure!
I've eaten here several times over the years with family and never had a bad experience. Garlic knots are awesome and I enjoyed the veggie lasagna. Update 12/27/16: I got the special tonight, penne alla vodka, and it was awesome. Highly recommend.
1st time and had salad and great pepperoni pizza and will be back for one of their specialties. Friendly staff and even with a full house could have good conversation. Thanks
Good veal parmesan with chianti.
Pasta and pizza very good.
Great chicken marsala. Owner was very personable. I would go back again.
Riccio's has been in Charlotte as long as I can remember (it was a birthday treat for me to go forty years ago), and it's still a great place to get delicious Italian food. The owner always comes and checks on you to make sure everything is perfect for your meal, and the atmosphere is sophisticated but family friendly. Prices are very reasonable as well!
Have eaten here for years, this place is amazing!!
Best Italian food in all of Charlotte. It's not super fancy nor is it a dump. But if you want good food. Come here. If you love veal! Try the veal Francis
These idiots serve veal. Veal is from a "fatted calf"...meaning the poor unlucky calf is force fed because his head is locked in a stockade type deal and does nothing but what he can do...eat. It is barbaric and I and if you have any conscious you will never eat here either.
Good food. Wish they were open later.
VERY good authentic Italian food. Cozy place, good music and Great service!
WHAT A MESS.... We have gone to Riccio's 2-3 times in the last couple months and keep giving it a chance.... WORST SERVICE IN NORTH AMERICA ! The lady who is THE ONLY server in the restaurant it seems is constantly walking away before we are even finished with our order ! We have to ask for everything and she is ALWAYS in a rush and seems overwhelmed every time we go.... We usually sit in the bar part and she always served us but switched to the restaurant part and yup, it was HER AGAIN...... FOOD IS GREAT but server is absolutely horrendous .... We have referred a ton of people to this restaurant but that will stop after our 2nd and 3rd previous visits.... kept trying to give it chances after chances... JUST GET CARROUT !
Amazing lasagna! Great little spot!
This is a nice Italian Restaurant. The staff make you feel welcome. The rolls they brought out were very tasty. The Veal Picatta was excellent. The pine nuts and lemon butter sauce complimented it well. I tried the Tiramisu for my dessert and it melted in my mouth. I definitely would like to come back and eat here again. Stumbled upon this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and atmosphere. Service was great, very friendly...highly recommended.
If you like old school Italian restaurants, you'll enjoy this pace. The clientele is mostly people over 50 who seem like they've been coming for quite a while. Service took a bit longer than I'd have hoped for, and when I made a special request for a simple item, the waitress looked at me funny, and asked I'd I was sure 4 times before eventually bringing it to me.
Food was very good. Went to try the new lunch menu. Good options and prices are good.
Small low lit restaurant with excellent Italian dishes.
I've dined in and had deliveries for around 25 years, now. Never once have I had bad dining experience. The food is exceptional, as well as the staff!
Aways good!
Great Italian at a very reasonable price. Our waiter recommended the lasagna, and was she right! I've never had a better lasagna in a restaurant.
Excellent
Not sure when they started charging for a glass of water, but I saw it on the last bill.
Really good pizza with fresh toppings.
Delicious Italian food. Very nice.
Great service, going earlier than usual for dinner (5 PM vs 6:30 PM). It does get very busy but the wait staff does hustle! We dine here often...everything is good, from pizza, to pasta, to meat/chicken/seafood entrees. It's all good! Also a full bar/beer/wine, & yummy desserts. Enjoy!
Excellent pizza. Definitely will be back!
Omg this is one of my favorite Italian restaurants. They have the BEST food.
This is a sit down family restaurant focused on old school Italian food. It wasn't bad but it lacked lacked flare. The server, I felt was so in a rush to take the order and leave. She really didn't spend the time to educate new patrons with their specials or specialities. If you want a platter of old Italian recipes, this is the place.
Great meal last night at Riccio's. Their calamari is the best! And those garlic rolls! Good job Ricky! Thanks
Will definitely be back for more. Amazing find. Awesome people. All around exquisite experience.
Been many times. Consistently good service, great food, family atmosphere, never disappoints. Kazoo Pizza is a favorite.
Excellent food; very good service (the owner is active in overseeing the show); pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
Good pizza in a quaint setting. It looks like their take out business is big as well.
Great food & service.
I only get the pizza but they do it right.
Food is really good but if you want delivery and live in pineville order from the rusty onion. They say 5 mile delivery I live 3.9. And got told no. Little aggravating. Don't advert it and not do it
Great Italian food!
The chicken Alfredo or any Alfredo dish is cooked to order and they are not skimpy on the Alfredo sauce, noodles or chicken. The shrimp looked amazing and the house stand said they were some of the best! They far exceed Olive garden version of Italian food and I love Olive garden too, but this place is amazing! They sample the wine if asked and/or give great guidance on choosing one. While I did not try their pizza or salads, both looked delicious and very fresh ingredients. Staff are very on cue! It is in a somewhat residential area, so it may be a little difficult to find at night, but certainly worth the find!
really great staff. the food was pretty good, service was great. they are really military and veteran friendly so I love that.
Everything I've had here is great, but I go for the pizza and garlic knots. So good!
Just an awesome family friendly place to go
Good food! All Italian!
Found our new date night spot. The food was great. This is Italian food made with passion. You can tell the staff cares. It's the real deal. We'll be going back.
Food great, good service
I ordered spaghetti with tomatoe sauce and couldn't eat but a few bites. Since this was delivered I forced myself to eat those bites. It was mainly spaghetti noodles and the sauce looked like a can of tomato paste had been smeared over the top of it. The bread was over done too. My husband couldn't eat but a few bites of his as well. He ordered the linguini with marinara sauce and mushrooms.
Reliable family-run Italian food. Kind staff, good chicken parmesan and linguini carbonara.
First time @ Riccio's. Food and service were great!
Our favorite Italian...casual, but great quality.
Tonight was our first visit. The entire experience was refreshing to say the least. The atmosphere and food both exceeded expectations. Laura was our server and delivered a level of service rarely seen today. We will definitely be back.
New favorite Charlotte Italian restaurant.
Homey Italian neighborhood joint. The owner always checks in to make sure diners are having a great experience. A hidden gem!
Excellent food!
Third visit will be the last! Though the food was not terrible, it missed the mark generally. We started with an appetizer that was pretty good, Clams Oregenatta...I would order this again! Our salads were good, then the entrees! My friend had the Chicken Marsala. She had been to the restaurant for years and said the Marsala was as good as she had eaten. It was a disappointment.......the sauce was watery and lacked any real flavor. I ordered the Red Snapper Romano.....again disappointed! The fish didn't seem fresh and the sauce was overkill and tasteless. I ate a couple of bites and was done. We swapped entrees since my friend liked the Red Snapper in the past, but honestly, neither of us were satisfied. All this with only 2 glasses of wine, with tip, was about $120. To many other good choices......we won't be back! For the record, the first visit was excellent......the second, okay. Although the server seemed to have a problem with getting the order correct and her attitude. Last visit she had a good attitude and served us well.
I'd had Riccio's take out many times when I lived in and visited friends in Charlotte. Always good. Great pizza. This was my first visit to the restaurant. The marsala was as tender and good as I've had anywhere.
I feel bad leaving one star because everyone was super nice. However, the most important part, the food was simply terrible. We ordered two baked ziti’s to go. The cheese was pretty rubbery and not good. The pasta seemed to be over cooked. My wife and I had a couple of bites and couldn’t finish the rest. I’d rather spend a few dollars more per plate and go to zinicola in Ballantyne.
Delicious veal masala and the simple tomato sauce on the spaghetti is some of the best I've had. I wonderful casual dinner.
I have never had a bad experience dining in or ordering take out. Both food and service are ALWAYS EXCELLENT! My daughter and her friends also eat there often and have the same excellent experience (their age ranges are 21-25).
If you want Italian food as in REAL Italian food this is the place in Charlotte
Good Italian food
Homestyle, old school feel, Mom and Pop type Italian-American joint. Good marinara. Delicious little garlic knots. Friendly service. What's not to like? (Hint* - sitting in the bar area is fun. You can watch a bit of the game, eat your meal, and hear half drunk Guidos swear about the Panthers' performance. My kinda place!)
Food is below average, portions small and could be lower pricing!
Great spot! Excellent food and service. We will be back!
Top notch Italian food. The lasagna is my favorite. Generous portions.
Family type atmosphere, good pizza & other Italian specialities, generous portions. Open for lunch!
Eggplant Parmesan was delicious! Great service. Large portions. All in our party enjoyed food!
Always good and consistent
Great Service, Delicious Food, one of our favorites.
Always amazing food.
The food was okay, but the service was wonderful.
My husband and I love Riccio's! On one of our first visits, the owner came over and introduced himself, which is always a nice gesture. We've had the same waitress every time, who is very knowledgeable and very helpful! I have to admit that I have never ordered anything other than the Manicotti (5+ times in a row)... because it's so good! My husband has ordered many other things and enjoyed them all, but I just love the Manicotti so much that I can't stray! If you tell them it's your first time there, they will give you free garlic knots and let you try all of their sauces! A nice little added touch that we weren't expecting... and now we always order the garlic knows because we are hooked! Thanks for providing a great convenient place for us to eat! :)
Awesome food, awesome staff. Will visit it again!!!
Wow! Recommended by a friend and have already brought a co-worker to also enjoy this place. Walk in to an aroma of garlic and butter, then taste it with the garlic knots. Large portions, so you'll have enough for a second meal later. Have tried the snapper and veal francaise and loved both. Highly recommend!
Excellent dining experience, pizza was absolutely delicious
I love Italian food. But the plates are small and prices expensive. Not to mention the food was awful. The spaghetti was bland. It tasted like somebody poured canned tomato suace onto spaghetti noodles. The veal marsala was drinched in sauce. The lasagna had 2 thick noodles in it. It almost looked like a shepards pie. The wait staff was great. Friendly and checking on guests. Very accomodating. The venue is beautiful. But for a Saturday night it was empty. It was easy to see why. Prices and the food were ridiculous.
This is a wonderful family owned and operated Italian restaurant in the South Charlotte area. Make sure you have a big appetite because the food is plentiful and tasty
Excellent did and service
1st time there. Will definitely go back
This place makes me miss the pizza game a little
Riccio's has been a consistently great restaurant in south Charlotte for decades. A family owned and operated Italian restaurant nestled in a shopping center that you have to know to look for but, dont you miss it! Dress up or down and you'll find yourself comfortable for amazing pastas and pizzas. If it sounds good on the menu, you will not be disappointed! If you haven't eaten at Riccio's yet, quit your procrastination and enjoy my favorite Italian joint that Charlotte has to offer!
Sicilian style pizza that you can order at the window. & eat it on the go. The pizza has a fluffy dough, tasty sauce & cheese with all kinds of fixings to choose from. It's one of my favorite pizza's in NC.
Awesome food n not too expensive. Excellent pizza.
Awesome food. Great service.
Wings and pizza. Good food and they deliver!
A hidden gem, as it were. Tucked away off of Baybrook Lane you'll find great pizza, Italian specialties, pasta & a bar! Only open evenings.
Best veal picatta in Charlotte - super service from Tonya
Been eating at Riccio's for Decades! It is like fine wine as it has truly gotten better with age. Best Pizza in the area.
Family-run Italian dining always hits the spot. In business since 1962 for very good reasons!
Excellent food and great service!
Amazing food
We did a catering order for our office today and it was SO good (delivered via Grub Hub). Everyone loved the pasta options and personally even the side salad was amazing (sometimes you expect lackluster side salads, but this was full, flavorful with fresh and lots of ingredients). Thank you! We will definitely order again.
Beautiful food and atmosphere.
Love it. Great Food
In my opinion this is the best pizza joint in Charlotte North Carolina
Me and my family moved here two years ago and we always wanted to go try this place. We lived right across from the little plaza where it was located. It took us a whole year and then some to finally decide to go and it was Great ! Friendly customer service . Food is really great me and my boyfriend agree that Riccio's has better Alfredo then Olive Garden . Also if your feeling like Pizza this place has good pizza and it's a nice place to dine in with the family. If your new to Charlotte or just visiting this is a place I recommend trying.
Great food in an intimate and friendly atmosphere with knowledgeable staff.
Amazing food great service but very noisey. The bathrooms are qaint but have some age Great for family dinners
Love this place! Garlic knots are out of this world.
Good fresh quality offerings and a very friendly staff. This place has been good for a very long time. Check it out for yourself. It's a hidden gem.
Old School Italian. I loved the spaghetti and veal.
Been enjoying their food for 20 years
Shhh don't tell anyone about my secret spot. This is a small restaurant that makes amazing food. Try the chicken parm... Seriously... Its amazing.
Love this place!
Always constiant
Always Great Food along with Great service!
We came at restaurant open time on Weekend. Not full but did have snot did it seven other tables. Kept bringing rolls uncooked on inside and took forever to get. By time meal came the bread problem and wait sort of a downer of while meal. Full on bread they finally got to us and extra sauce my bf requested he never got. Embarrassing since it was an Xmas dinner combination thank you gift to two neighbors who pet sit for us.
Good solid food and wonderful portions for the price! Will be back, so I can try the pizza my father had... looked great!!
Love this place.i live in NY, when I come to Charlotte to visit family it's my go to place
Always a good time!
no mixed drinks...wine and beer only
Wonderful family owned restaurant. The garlic knots before your meal are to die for and the food from classics to specials is delicious! My family has been going to Riccio's for 30 years and enjoyed it every time!
Service was good, nice atmosphere, but their chicken parm is mediocre
Good pizza!
We had high hopes for this place, however, we were disappointed. We were seated quickly and given some time to peruse the menu; however, the first item we ordered (Clams Oreganata) was already out-no clams. We ordered drinks and those were served quickly. We then ordered our meals, both having Veal Parmigiana and side salads. I asked our waitress if their Italian dressing was made with red wine vinegar and was assured it was. It was not. The garlic knots they served were tasty but definitely frozen and then microwaved, as they got very tough after sitting awhile. While the veal was tender the sauce used for it and the pasta was extremely sweet. I don't believe any Italian herbs were used while cooking it, as it tasted like they just heated up a can of tomato puree. I had hoped we had found a quaint Italian restaurant with good food. We were very disappointed!!!
Mom and pop restaurant specializing in comfort Italian food. It has a cozy feel and quick service . Large well prepared portions . Plenty of parking .
Food was awesome and a wonderful atmosphere.. Look forward to eating there again.
Great menu and great service for the last 20 years!
Great hidden Italian food and pizza. One of the best in ch as rlotte in my opinion ... great customer service everytime I'm there.
The looks were amazing, but the food was just okay.
All home made dishes except cor Ravioli. Braco excellente!!
Always fantastic! ! Food and service!
We enjoyed the veal marsala. It was delicious.
We love this place
Been many times. Always great.
My favorite Italian
Good food and friendly staff
They have the BEST PIZZA IN SOUTH CHARLOTTE!!!
Service was excellent and the pizza was delicious as well.
Great local Italian restaurant in the south Charlotte area. Food is excellent and they have a good variety. We routinely make the trek from Huntersville to dine here. However, the service can be hit or miss. The servers are not bad, I think they are just overworked. Other than that, everything else about Riccio's is great!
Great pizza!
Use Groupon. Yummy food.
A south Charlotte favorite for consistently great Italian food and Ricky the owner makes you feel like family.
Great portions, low prices. Only complaint is while they have a decent wine list, they don't really know how to serve it. Got a bottle of red and it was downright warm (felt like it was kept in a hot area of the kitchen). We had to ask for a bucket of ice to get it cool enough to drink. Rich sauce, doughy bread, and everyone gets about a pound of spaghetti--enjoy the leftovers!
Burned bread, weak watery sauce. Extra extra pasta, sauce for about 1/3 of the amount of pasta.
Good but pricey
Just very good
Food was staring it was fresh ingredients however when we asked the server I am so sorry the broccoli is frozen , may I please have less garlic yes of coarse well the garlic odors took away the table oops on top of everything she had taken my order pulling over a chair sitting with absolutely no problem physically !!
If you're looking for that classic nj/ny pizza, this is the place, however this is a restaurant/sports bar not your mon and pops pizzeria.
Great Food. True Italian. Great service.
45min-1hour wait for delivery time. Go in for pick up instead and it's not even busy! Also was $30 for a medium pizza and side salad. Food is good there but just doesn't seem worth it
Great food, friendly staff!
My boyfriend and I went to have dinner tonight. Worst dinner experience I've ever had. The hostess seated us and we sat there for at least 15 minutes and no one even spoke to us. What I assumed would be our waitress made eye contact with my boyfriend but still ignored our existence. All of the waitresses saw us there, but still ignored us. I watched 3 people clean off one table, completely unnecessary. I believe we were completely discriminated against because we are a younger couple(he's 23 and I'm 21), which is so wrong. But unfortunately for the waitress that refused to serve us, we generally tip AT LEAST 20% unless the service is bad and even then we tip decently. I'm a waitress too. We decided to go to portofino's instead. Great choice! The food was excellent and the service was good too. The servers helped each other out with the tables, which is important to run an efficient restaurant. Maybe Portofino's could offer the staff at Riccio's some advice on how to treat customers.
