I was gonna take pictures but it disappeared... in my mouth... because I ate it... for those pepperheads out there they have some great spicy food, and I cranked it all the way up and my nose was runnin' the whole time, though they do offer milder options and the flavor was outstanding! I am confused why it's also labeled as a Mexican restaurant so do not be confused by the sign, this is a very authentic Indian restaurant.

Ordered pickup and had issues with the employee and myself hearing each other. The employee went out of there way to call me back to try again. Also allowed me to try different lassi while I waited for my food. As well as called after I left to ensure I got everything I ordered. Top notch service.

I was so confused on what I was about to eat. I ended up putting goat brains on my plate, yuck!! They do label the buffet, but it is only the Indian name. They should put the English explanation. If you are adventurous and don't care what you eat, this is the place for you. After researching what the food was, what I ate was good. Their sign says India and Mexican dishes, but I didn't see anything Mexican.

Great food. I’m not Indian but I do love to eat here. My favorite is lamb Rohan josh. I would advise to be careful because bones fall off the meat in to the dish. Also mango lassi is great to cool the toungue because the dishes are spicy

On the outside the signage says "Persis Biryani Indian Mexican Grill". I thought it was some place that served neither good Indian nor Mexican. However, they only serve Indian food and it is delicious. I see mostly Indians that eat there so I'm guessing it is quite authentic. They have a nice buffet. My favorite is getting their individual entrees. Any of their goat or lamb dishes are delicious. Our favorite Indian restaurant in town!

Our family was in Columbia,SC for spring break and was looking for some great Indian food. We pulled out our phones to see what social media recommended and Persis Indian Grill was listed #1 so we made a call. Our friend mentioned that Persis Indian grill was their personal favorite. Upon arrival, they were packed but we were seated immediately. The service was great, they had a large menu selection and many specials. You can also customize your order based on your spice level. I recommend asking for baby mild, if you are not great with spice. We ordered Indian Beer(very good), Mango Lassi(My personal favorite), Pomfret fish Fry, Persis Tikka masala and a few other items in the menu. I would strongly recommend this restaurant for its food, drinks and service.

Staff was so rude.. and i saw the old couple they came for dinner and might be they don't know much English and they try to explain something to the staff and the staff was laughing at them which is ridiculous.. i mean who does that.!! They have some really bad staff they don't know how to treat customer.. that was so disrespectful..the way that staff was laughing at them that couple was feeling so bad. Might be they are not gonna come back if you guys keep doing it..

A+ for food. Absolutely delicious, heated to perfection. Best Indian food I know of here. C- for service. The two ladies who helped me get seated and take my order were very sweet. However as I waited at the bar, the bartender never even bothered to look or say hello to me even though I was the only one seated. Another girl refused to look my way or smile. Mediocre service at best. Best bet is to order take-out.

Brought 2-3 times and it was not even a cooked food and completely frozen Again yesterday i brought cut mirchi, paneer paratha, paneer tikka persis special and naan’s STOMACHs UPSET FOR WHOLE FAMILY Cut mirchi - completely dipped in oil, no salt in the batter , not fresh even .. i could see oil floating out when i crushed mirchi .. Simply thrown into trash Paneer paratha - last time ordered the same with spicy where they simply splitted lot of hot chilli powder. And for current order , it simply looks as frozen paratha jus heated and very dried looks very very thicker. Naan- nothing but completely frozen stuff heated. Paneer tikka persis special - i could see mixture of some boiled paneer mixed in some pasta sauce thats it .. added more color which tastes worst Called today to complaint 1. Listened my above complaint and told will call back 2. Called back and i conveyed the same .. He apologized saying “Yes sir, yesterday night food was not good in our restaurant” . I was shocked and asked then why did u serve for me/other customers . No answer from him, told will cal back again. 3. Got a call from manager , he was trying to convince that we will compensate next time and ensure will provide good food . I was asking current situation and will never order again, going to write review .. He told OK

Wow, where do I start? The phone was ringing loudly nonstop, no one ever answered it. It wasn't a normal ring either, it said the words "call from (phone number)" over and over. The bathroom was disgusting and toilets overflowing. The service was terrible! Waited an hour and a half, told the staff that we didn't have food, we learned later that the waitress NEVER PUT IN THE ORDER, not that they mentioned that to us. Apparently there was only one person working the kitchen that night, but again, no one told us anything. Mind you, there were only a handful of people in the restaurant at this time. How do you forget about 1 table out of 4?! So we asked for the food to go. Another half hour goes by. We get what we assume is our food - it's all wrapped up in plastic wrap so we couldn't see it. No apologies made, no attempt to give a discount or anything. So, I recommend the food, but I really really don't advise you to eat in at this time.

One of our favorite Indian restaurants in Columbia. Their buffet is a bargain and all of their items are absolutely delicious! I would like to commend their staff as well. We had a BiteSquad order that was missing some items and Persis told us we could pick up the replacement items the next day. Great customer service!

The restaurant was half full and it took a while to be seated our waiter forgot to place my moms order after waiting for 20 mins for our food! she came by our table to ask again what we ordered and did not apologize for her mistake by the time my mom got her for I was done with mine. I’ve been wanting something completely different for a while and finally tried this place. We odered off the menu and it was absolutely delicious. The waiter was very helpful in my selection... I was clueless. Speaking of clues... there is water on the table for a reason. If you are not accustomed to spicey foods do yourself a favor and do not order the highest spice level. My “hot wing” loving husband could not finish his meal. The building has great bones but needs some sprucing up. It’s worth a visit. My meal was $12 and my husband and son got a delicacy at $14. It was a little odd that the waitress stood just staring but the water carafes kept coming.

This restaurant is AMAZING. Every dish I tried was wonderfully put together with perfect flavors and just the right amount of spice. My whole family enjoyed eating there, even the small, more finicky members. The buffet had plenty of options, including dessert and traditional drinks. Our family's favorite dish was the butter chicken. This was most likely the best Indian buffet I have ever been to. Oh & the staff were friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant!

My wife and I love this place for great Indian food. They do a lunch buffet during the week and on weekends, and have a great menu selection. If you do not know much about Indian food, I would recommend a little research before going. Their food is always fresh and very comforting. Sometimes service can be a little slow, but it's fresh.

I'm a big fan of Indian food and have eaten a quite a variety of Indian restaurants around the U.S. We had the lamb saag with sauce which appeared to have an artificially bright green color and was uniform throughout. It was just mediocre. Butter chicken was on the same par. Staff was nice and friendly but rather slow.

We have recently tried this Indian grill with my family while visiting our friends in Columbia. I must say that the food is very delicious. I felt it easy it so easy that they have certain spice levels for kids too as mine enjoyed most of the varieties instead of sticking to desserts only. Starters were too good and mouthwatering especially Lamb chops with exact spice levels and taste. Also the Dum biryani, as the name says it is the original Hyderabadi Dum Biryani. Visiting from California never made us miss the authentic indian food, glad we found them. Very friendly staff, excellent customer service and loved the environment. Must try, worth it!!

Great food, but terrible service. We waited 30+ minutes for our food, our waiter checked in once before the food got there, and he didn't talk to us again until we were walking out the door. I had to ask for a box from another waiter, and for my check from someone else as well, 30 minutes after we were done eating. I do recommend the food though! Get it as take out, and your night will be joyful!

Outstanding. The entire place has Indian folks happily eating (good sign), the food is very well done with abundant flavor, and the variety of the buffet was just right. The prices are reasonable too. I had the mango lassi (yogurt smoothie) and it was perfect. I found the customer service to be just fine. In my opinion, it is the best Indian cuisine in Columbia.

AVOID THIS PLACE !!! On our way through South Carolina. we wanted to have some Indian food for lunch. So we debated between Delhi Palace and Persis. Since it is close to the highway we decided to stop here. We got here at 1:43 and buffet closes at 2:30. Buffet was almost empty. The staff was not in a hurry to refresh it. They were even trying to avoid it. After request of many customers they brought 2-3 items after a long time. Staff have no clue what they are doing. There is no customer service here. No service at all. This place is an embarrassment to Indian community and what the elegance Of Indian food. The cleanliness of this place must improve dramatically. In six months this place will deteriorate. We are foodies. We have visited many Indian restaurants all over the US and internationally.in the last 2 weeks we were traveling through the US and had some amazing Indian food. So we know how the Indian food tastes like. But here this food was mediocre. Spicy and salty. You can taste the raw taste of the chicken. After eating this food our stomachs were hurting. If you cannot serve food with care and love please leave the food business. We will never come to this any way. This review is for the potential future victims. Hopefully you will not go to this place.

The food was great. Extremely tasty not too spicy. On their spicy meter of 1-6 6 being the hottest I ordered a 6 and it wasn't too spicy. The atmosphere is nice and the Indian music they play is modern and appropriate. They offer a 10% discount coupon on yelp which is helpful. The wait staff is really nice and helpful. I wish I was their for the Tuesday night buffet but I was their on a Wednesday. My husband and I will definitely be visiting again.

We just tried the food at this restaurant. The place is really nice, the people are incredibly friendly and kind. This was our first time trying Indian food and it was different for us. The food is good but a bit spicy even though they say it's not, fun to try. I loved the desserts. The only thing I didn't like, it is their sign outside in the building, it says Indian/Mexican, not Mexican at all. Many blessings!

We had food yesterday for dinner and my mother is down with diarria today. We ordered lamb Biriyani and what they served is some rice on top of lamp curry which is not at all Biriyani. They are fooling people who don't know about indian dishes. Whatever they serve is full of ajinomotto and after having food will feel sleepy and stomach upset throat dryness so much thirsty etc. Stay away from this bad place. I wonder where these good reviews come from. My guess is for sure they will cover any negative reviews with sugar coated good reviews. People who have food once here are never going to come back here.

I've visited this restaurant twice. Once for dinner, where I had to order off the menu. My food came quickly and was delicious. I also went once for lunch when they had the buffet. The food on the buffet was hot and fresh.

The food was bad and service was even worse! We drove all the way from Tennessee to try them out, after Curry and More in Sevierville TN told us about them. But we were so disappointed. We were there for the lunch buffet. The naans in the buffet were so old and stale. I asked the server to get us a fresh naan, he said there are some in the buffet. I went back to the buffet and they still had those old and stale naans. I asked the server (from Pakistan) to bring me a fresh naan and he said he will charge us. I said I’m paying for a buffet, I should at least get one fresh naan. The other server came there and asked him to get us a naan. I asked for the manager and discussed the issues with him. He started giving his own excuses. At the end when we were leaving and paying for our food, the same server (from Pakistan) charged me $3 for a naan. At that point, I just gave up and paid and left the restaurant. It’s not about the money, it’s about customer service and principles. Anyone who pays for a buffet, should at least be able to get a fresh naan if the ones in the buffet are too old. We have been sick with upset stomachs since we got back. I’m not sure what was bad, but something definitely made me and my wife both sick. I won’t be going back and wasting my time and money. I rather go to our local place in Sevierville TN ,who offer the best food and service to their customers.

I dont understand how this place recieved such high reviews... I came here at 6pm and sat at the bar. I ordered a margarita. The bartender that was there said he didn't know how to make mix drinks!!! I thought at first he was joking until he told me i could get whiskey straight or order beer. I didn't bother to stay for the food.

Price is not fair for the flavor. Biryani without spices is not a biryani (anise,cardamon, cinnamon flavors are missing), is a 14 dishes to choose from the buffet. But not main dishes more like sides. Outside of the building needs maintain, trash of cigarettes is all over the floor, close to the entrance. Building has potential. Needs more care.

A/c wasn't working and they argued when informed. We were amazed at 50+ people eating at 83 degrees inside where we felt suffocated. Please enquire about the age of kid for kid's lunch price as we were informed it's 5 year old and above......first crazy experience in an Indian restaurant, seems like the management has changed since we last visited, as we have loved Persis before that

4 out if 5 for a couple of reasons. Some what slow service and the explanation of the food was not the greatest as we never had Indian food we were a little unsure. That being said the food was GREAT. My wife had the Butter Chicken and I had the Khorma (Lamb). I would definitely order this again! Next time I will try the Goat.

Tried indian food for the first time at this place. And I must say it was amazing. The staff was extremely helpful and very polite and professional. I would highly reccomend to anyone. All in all I was very satisfied with my experience here.

Went for a birthday dinner with some family. Food was delicious and our waiter was okay, but towards the end it got kinda shady. They preferred cash over card, which is uncommon but not really that weird, but the way they went about it was what made it kinda sketchy. We were a group of seven and we didnt split the bill, so it was kinda weird handing over that much in cash, let alone without a folder thing or some kind of liaison. But whatever, it was still REALLY good food, so I'll probably end up going again

Me and my friend went on a friday night. The ambience was good and we were welcomed. We ordered Boneless Chicken and Vegetable Biryani, Cut Mirchi Bhajji as appetizer and Kingfisher Light Beer. This was the first time I saw KF lite beer in USA. The food tasted good and was adequate. Definitely would recommend others also to check this place out!

This place is a hidden gem! I've grown up right down the road but never went here until a few weeks ago. I got samosas ($4), garlic naan ($3), and mild chicken Tikka masala ($12) and it was mind-blowing. I would recommend the mild, it was a nice amount of heat. It came with a good amount of rice as well. They do not have the buffet at dinner, so just plan accordingly. I wish I had known more entrees, but I imagine anything on their menu is good. Also, if you want to order takeout, do it on the phone and not online. The employees are really nice and it's a great place to eat. Even if you're with people who don't like to expand their culinary outlook (@my brother in-law), you can still find something (naan, oven-baked chicken, rice, anyone?).

Once I saw that the dining room was filled with Indians, I knew we were getting authentic Indian food. I'm fairly new to the cuisine, so I was delighted with my dinner and my companion enjoyed there's too. Our server was polite and happy to assist us in ordering. I'll definitely go back.

It is probably the best pure food I have had at a restaurant. They have an elaborate all you can eat Prix Fix three course menu that will leave your heart wanting more, but you can't stomach more. The service is top notch! Pricey but totally worth affair.

Very good but sometimes inconsistent with the spices. I went 1 time and it was spectacular and the next week I went again and ordered the same dish but it tasted completely different. The naan is super good

FAVORITE INDIAN RESTAURANT EVER. I have eaten Indian food all across the east coast, but this is still one of my favorite spots. I have only tried one entree here that I was absolutely fast about. — I have a peanut allergy, and the staff is always in the know about what’s in my food.

STAY CLEAR if you don't want food poisoning. I came here with my family of four and 3 of us came down with bloody diarrhea the next day. We are on treatment now and will hopefully recover soon. The restaurant has a "B" sanitary rating listed on the outside. I thought it would still be fine. Apparently not :/ . Food wasn't too bad, but you should value your health and stay clear.

One of the few halal restaurants in the area. Excellent taste, quality, portion size, and price! I have tried a few things on the menu, and they are all great. Authentic Indian food. Nice ambiance.
