REVIEWS OF Peninsula Grill IN South Carolina

Behren Kittrell

Traditional fine dining with a continental menu. The service is impeccable, but not stuffy. Very extensive wine list. We ordered the 16oz ribeye and split it. Having been several times over the years, I can highly recommend visiting Peninsula Grill!

Rich Hillier

The service was probably the best I have ever had. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals and look forward to going back. It's fine dining but not pretentious. The food is elegantly served and tastes even better than it looks. Portions are not enormous but you won't leave hungry. Without a doubt it was the best restaurant I have ever been to in Charleston, and just about anywhere else.

Melvin Seid

Great food. Good service. Atmosphere is great especially if it's not too hot and you sit outside. The ultimate coconut cake is the best coconut cake I have ever tried. Parking is hard to find on the street, it's worth paying to park in a nearby parking lot.

Carsten Vollrath

Dear Peninsula Grill team, Thank you for exceeding the dining experience on our special day way beyond our expectations. Danielle went above and beyond. We couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you, thank you, thank you! PS. The Beef Tartar, Duck Breast and the 12 layer Coconut cake are out of this world. Compliments to the chef and culinary team. (Chef and former employee of 2 Relais & Chateaux properties)

Jake Jacobs

This has consistently been one of the best establishments in Charleston for many many years. It's located near the City Market, so parking can be an issue, but it is worth paying for valet or taking an uber if you're not with walking distance. Must try the she crab soup. FYI, this restaurant does have a recommended dress code (jackets for gentlemen).

Marcella Wright

The best Thanksgiving meal I've ever had!!! Only the service was better... oh, and the coconut cake...

Jessica Diamond

Amazing! The food was unbelievable. We had the duck and scallops and couldn't choose who had the better meal! Also had the coconut cake and banana pudding dessert.

Sara Taylor

Absolutely beautiful night!! My husband took us here for our honeymoon fancy dinner. We both fell in love. Charlie our witress was Top Notch. Food was prefect and desserts were even better!

Leslie Anderson

I hosted a private dinner here during a conference for our New England attendees. We had 25 in the Charleston room and it was absolutely fabulous. This local restaurant far exceeded my expectations as I found it on the internet. The courtyard is a beautiful taste of Charleston as you walk in, and the staff was fantastic to work with to set up the event. I can not say enough about the service and the food. Simply outstanding - beyond five stars. The lobster ravioli was a hit with our New Englanders who know there way around lobster dishes, and the mushroom ravioli was one of the best apps I've ever eaten. Everything was delicious. Don't miss the coconut cake either - simply heaven! Thank you so much, I will definitely come back if next time in Charleston!

I was dying to try the famous coconut cake but was underwhelmed. I would have had no issue with the $13.50/ slice price, if it were better.

Peninsula Grill is one of a handful of restaurants in Charleston that provide a consistent, outstanding dining experience. Protein choices are focused largely on red meat and seafood. There are other restaurants in Charleston that do more innovative food. However, Peninsula Grill chose to form its culinary identity around a commitment to the elevation of fresh ingredients. The food is always perfectly executed and the service is exquisite. The coconut cake is legendary for a reason, so be sure to get a slice. When you *need* a meal to go well, you can count on the team at Peninsula Grill to deliver.

Louise Corsiglia

Thank you, Joanna and Jessica, for making Chef Jimi’s birthday celebration everything it should be. Not only are these two perfectly delightful but their service is impeccable! The Champagne Bar is an absolutely elegant and wonderful place to celebrate or just have a glass of bubbly!

Mary Parrott

Very nice restaurant. Good food and excellent service. Also pricey Dining experience.

Verl Raap

Phenomenal... incredible dinner, dessert, and the atmosphere is top notch!

Chris Hogan

Attended a wedding on a Friday night and the reception was catered by the Peninsula Grill. Best meal and experience in the 4 days in Charleston. Blown away by how everything was made, prepared and served. Definitely on the list for another visit.

yury panasyuk

Peninsula Grill has consistently had high quality food whether breakfast or dinner. Friendly staff. Warm atmosphere. All seafood dinner dishes have been fantastic. My favorite breakfast dish is the blue crab eggs benedict (special request since blue crab has been removed from menu).

Jess Edwards

What a lovely, centrally located, boutique hotel this is! From the moment we arrived, we felt pampered and like we were the only guests there. The staff, from bellman to front desk, addressed us by name and helped us to set up our dinner reservations and excursions during our stay. We loved being within walking distance to all of the attractions that Charleston has to offer. We encourage anyone staying here to dine at Peninsula Grill and try the ultimate coconut cake. It will not disappoint! We will certainly return and will recommend this to our friends and family!

Leo Bentley

Our cocktails ~ a Paper Plane and Ginger Sparkler were good. My HH had the Oysters Rockefeller which he thoroughly enjoyed. My Gem Lettuce salad was nice. Our entrees were the Triggerfish and Scallops ~ they were both excellent. We ordered a lovely bottle of Merry Edwards Chardonnay which the Sommelier recommended. My HH had their signature dessert of Coconut Cake which did not disappoint. Having a Gluten Allergy I couldn’t have any cake but settled for Crème Brulee. Our server was friendly and helpful. The evening was not only relaxing but delicious.

Jazz

One of the best fine dining spots in Charleston. I dine here almost every week with my boyfriend and it never disappoints! The waitstaff is well mannered, friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic and, of course, the food is delicious. Some of my favorites include the sea scallops, lobster 3 way and the salmon but anything you order is sure to be divine!

Kyle Mac

We went to this place a few weeks ago to finish the night off with a cocktail and some coconut cake. The staff was very friendly and the cake was delicious.

The Mrs.

I liked the food and the environment, but for the dress requirement and price, the noise level really took away from the dining experience. Texas Roadhouse is quieter than this place and you don't even have to dress casually to eat there.

Amanda Rivkin

Went for dessert after being recommended by locals to get their famous coconut cake. SO MOIST. SO GOOD. 11 layers of goodness.

Greg Stanford

After 14 years the food is still excellent along with the impecable service. BTW the coconut cake is wonderful.

Nichole

My husband and I went for restaurant week. I must say the atmosphere is very lovely and our waiter (Josh) was amazing. There was also a gentleman in a suit that assisted us with wine selection and he was wonderful as well. The food was outstanding and seasoned just right, and presented beautifully. We'll be dining here again for special occasions for sure.

Peggy Small

Awesome place delicious food and Korey the bartender makes awesome drinks. Daniel our waiter was outstanding as well. Two thumbs up!

susie adams

Great service

Chadwick

Had the pleasure of enjoying a slice of their famous coconut cake at the bar with a tasty gin blossom! Corey, the bartender, made us feel very welcome with his friendly demeanor. If I’m ever back in town, I’m definitely going to make an effort to stop-in for the full experience. Back to the cake.... MY GOD! It was amazing. It’s sort of like eating a cloud, but full of flavors that you’d expect to feel very heavy. It’s 7-layers and worth every calorie. All-in-all, it’s a must try! You can even just grab some to go, but I recommend you just eat it there!

Julie Helms

Excellent seafood and their service is top notch.

Stuart Carlton

We were fortunate enough, to get a reservation at this wonderful restaurant. From the minute we arrived, we were treated with excellent attention. The entire staff was warm and welcoming. The food was extraordinary, some of the best I’ve ever had. The complexity of flavor to each dish was so well thought out. Well done! The atmosphere was so romantic. I hope we can return next time we visit the beautiful city of Charleston.

Michelle Kosanke

This by far is the best meal and service we have had in Charleston so far. The Triggerfish and Chocoate peanutbutter mousse were to die for. Our server Daniel was great! We highly recommend this restaurant so make your reservation soon because it fills up quick!

Jim Marek

I enjoyed positively perfect She-Crab soup appetizer and Scallops for dinner.

Shandra Bohley

I went there for dinner, there wasn't a long wait I did have a reservation for four. It was restaurant week and we had the special and my friends had the lamb. With cocktails and dessert it was about 250.00. The restaurant's at atmosphere was cozy and intimate. Service was excellent.

Fernando Bernardo

Best coconut cake I’ve ever had. Everything was delicious, highly recommend!

N C

Top restaurant in Charleston

Marcel Ulrich

Top Notch restaurant with impeccable service would highly recommend

Richard Hayes

Very good, but expensive.

Banky Wafford

Weekends here book up very fast especially on restaurant week! I was worried that the gift certificate I had been given would no longer work as it was specifically for restaurant week but when I called ahead of our reservation they politely said they would be happy to honor the amount on the certificate but with the normal menu. I was not upset because I was still going to have my nice dinner at this lovely place!

Jen Lewis

Hands down the very best Filet mignon I have ever had! I had the peppercorn sauce and steak cooked medium. So much flavor and tenderness! I also had the grits and goat cheese mashed potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly. The service was impeccable! Justin was our server. Extremely knowledgeable, attentive, handsome and helpful.

Tom Zimmerman

Best meal I’ve had in town so far. Everything prepared perfectly and flavor was great. You can actually have a conversation without yelling so it’s great for a date or business meal.

John Parks

Amazing evening enjoying the finest of Charleston. Best rib eye ever along w/rich smashed potato side . Excellent salads & bread. She crab soup superb. Have had many of the reputed best but theirs exceeded expectations. Dessert of mousse w/raspberry sauce & the paired port highlighted evening. Went in not especially hungry but recieved divine inspiration with each bite. Impeccable service. I've eaten good share of Low Country's best & no one on par w/Peninsula.

John Nall

Stopped in for a double espresso and the famous coconut cake. We were not disappointed! A flavorful treat to end a wonderful evening!

Gary Blum

Everything was very good but the duck breast is to die for. It maybe the best duck breast I've ever tasted. Prior to this the best I had was in a 2 star Michelin restuarant in Prauge. The skin was cooked to perfection. The fat underneath was rendered out leaving just enough to ensure the meat was flavorful. And the thick slices of breast meat melted in my mouth. Of course the coconut cake was sublime.

90cln

Omg...so delish. The salmon was perfect and the wine side good

Eddie Mack

Very nice fine dining experience. Service was prompt and attentive. They have a large selection of wine and cocktails, and a sommelier on hand to help you choose. The food was exquisite, I don't think you can go wrong here. Our only complaint is that it took a long time to get our entrées, but my assumption is that's because it's made fresh with little prep work.

Mitch Nolze

Absolutely perfect. The most impeccable service and food. This is true fine dining! It's worth every penny.

Megan Barber

Beef tartare was incredible. Get a table in the bar. One of the best dining experiences in Charleston.

**

Gorgeous outdoor setting and lovely historic hotel/indoor area. The service was good. The menu is good and the food was decent but not exceptional. The fish could have been seasoned better. The 5-stars are for the comfort of the patio and menu options. The atmosphere is a bit stuffy and geriatric inside, so if you are younger looking to socialize I would keep that in mind.

Darren Davis

We reserved a private room there back in May for “a night before wedding dinner” for my son and new bride. All I can say is WOW !!! What a great restaurant. Staff was amazing and made us feel very special . Chef was even able to concoct a “vegan” chocolate cake for some guests who opted out on their famous coconut cake. Food was exceptional and I even took a photo of my gorgeous salad

Diana Eide

Went for dessert after having dinner at husk. Exceptional service and the coconut cake was everything I hoped it would be.

Richard Ruby

The best of the best, always turns dinner in to an occasion! Ask for Dahlia, my favorite for twenty years and a good friend.

Amanda Lott, REALTOR

Very accommodating service. Our group was on the patio. I enjoyed the Oysters. Order the coconut cake first so you're not too full to enjoy it! Wine list = OMG.

Baylye Burnette

My husband and I went to eat here for Valentine's Day! Definitely worth the money to make us feel like a million bucks while we ate steak and had fancy drinks.

Lou Pran

High end restaurant for those high end affairs

Dottie Carley

Food and service was outstanding. My favorite restaurant.

Kathryn Wagener

Peninsula Grill has spectacular food! The experience is incredible from beginning to end. The atmosphere is elegant. My only regret was not trying a different dessert. I went with everyone's recommendation of coconut cake, but I truly wish I had tried the panna cotta instead. I do highly recommend the she crab soup! My husband had the creme brulee, which was exquisite. Please don't misunderstand me, the coconut cake was everything it is made out to be. I personally prefer other desserts, and I am excited to return to try a different option!! You definitely need to experience everything Peninsula Grill has to offer!

David Roule

The oysters and the coconut cake to die for

David Thomas

Went here and everything was amazing. The food and the service was exceptional. The goat cheese mashed potatoes, the chef's salad, and the halibut was excellent. The lobster 3 way was prepared perfectly. Worth every single penny. It was so good I went back a second time a couple of days later.

Don McLaurin

Best fine dining in Charleston, hands down. We are locals and this has been tops for years.

Frann Carlton

My favorite restaurant for a nice meal with my husband.

Mike Abbott

Fantastic steaks. Both the filet and the NY strip were top shelf, perfectly prepared. Service is excellent. Top it off with the world famous coconut cake.

baggz

Let me give a big shout out to Dave and Eric for making our dinning experience delightful and wonderful!! The duck was cooked to perfection, melted in my mouth! The minor reservation issues I had was took care of expeditiously (Eric). The 3-way Lobster was good all 3 ways. The wine was fine and the food was on time (Dave). I will definitely let my fellow New Yorkers know this is the spot when u come down south to visit!! Brooklyn

James Napier

Really good food combined with great service equals a great experience! This place isn't inexpensive, but what you get will melt in your mouth! Will return next time I'm in the area.

Kamlesh Chhetty

Good food, good ambiance. Loved the attention to detail. Drinks are great too. Business casual dressing preferred. Do make sure to try the coconut cake. Had a nice time.

Allison Dean Love

Great food, great service. Amazing coconut cake! Super loud and hard to hear, but still great.

Jennifer J. Grove

We went during restaurant week and it was delicious!!

Roy Mcbrayer

Best meal I've had in Charleston. The food was amazing

Dan Cotto

Wonderful food and great staff

Heather N

I only used the takeout this visit but we will be back for a date night the menu looks amazing! The coconut cake was very delicious if you like coconut,if you don't like coconut you probably wouldn't like this cake because it is full of it!

Crystal Phillips

Amazing food and atmosphere. Will return next time we are in town. The coconut cake was to die for!!!

Hamp Stevens

If this is a 5 Five Star Restaurant I would hate to eat in a 3 Star. Service was very slow. It took 2.5 hours for drinks and dinner. I ordered Duck and it came almost cold after a 30 minute wait. My wife ordered Flounder and it was dry as toast. The people next to us had cell phones out for the entire meal. Some people in the restaurant were dressed like something the cat drug up. The Matradee was dress in jeans and Converse Tennis shoes. Breakfast was equally bad. Ate breakfast twice and was never served any water. At breakfast one of the waitresses was dress like a waitress at a Waffle House. There was a big black hair on the table. All in all it was not a good experience. Very Poor. I have no intention of going back.

John Wilson

For the price you pay we were not impressed. Went there during our honeymoon and they asked what the occasion was and did not treat us any differently than a regular customer. What was the point in asking if it was a special occasion? Paid over $200 and had better food for half the price at other restaurants.

Christine Antoine

We loved this restaurant. My husband took me for my bday and they really took care of us. The food was amazing, the service was 5 star, and the location was so nice. The hotel it was in was super cute and it was in a great location. The steak was delicious and my hubby loved the red snapper and hes not a big fish person. The golden gazpacho was very different, fresh, and tasty. We'd highly recommend this place.

steven biedinger

The level of care and kindness extends beyond your meal. On the way to dinner I twisted my ankle. When we arrived I was offered ice and hostess filled the ice bag. The manager brought me a chair to elevate it and was so sweet.

Abby Hawkins

The Best Lobster & Brie Omelet EVER!! WORTH the wait!!

Raymond Burdi

Fantastic service, incredible food.

David Blair

Terrible place, on vacation, so wearing shorts and a cap, made my party of 3 feel very inferior, like we didn't belong. Made me check my cap, although others were wearing hats as well. Just had a salad and left, brought the manager over and explained our issues, I'm not poor, and can buy the place. As I explained, you have a menu outside to show people what you have, nothing says there's a dress code, never going back.l

Tyavonya Snyder

My experience at Peninsula Grill was nothi g shy of amazing, it was my first time visiting this restaurant and the food was divine and the cocktails was awesome. My boyfriend even proposed to me and I must say it was rather eventful, the staff in the restaurant was amazing our host Dahlia was awesome. I will definitely visit this place again. The memories made that evening was the best ever. We was even given a bottles of wine by another guest I'm extremely pleased with my experience at this establishment. #GreatstaffandGreatfood#

henry dupont

Excellent Fine Dining restaurant. everything you would expect. super service, excellent food. Men wear your jackets.

Mary Boykin

Amazing all the way around. Service, food, atmosphere. The scallops were the very best I’ve ever eaten. Coconut cake cannot be missed.

Brad Kingsley

Best coconut cake in Charleston!

Bill Gerke

Nice atmosphere, great service, excellent food.

Jason Brunsell

Tasty drinks, delightfully cool and dark bar

Chris Hagerty

Lovely place. Good food and service. Dress nice and make reservations. Crispy quail appetizer was great!

Christine Garrett

This is the third time I've visited Charleston and every time I make it a point to sit at the bar and order champagne and their famous coconut cake. It is absolutely delicious, service even at the bar is wonderful and we always enjoy this perfect ending to our evening

Joe Mann

Very classy location but the dishes were a bit hit or miss. I wasn't in love with the fried lobster and the bass was a bit of a disappointment. The duck I ordered however was delicious.

Rick Harris

The food was outstanding but the most impressive part of the evening was the level of effort that our server Danielle and the entire staff went to to ensure that our birthday dinner was perfect!! They made us feel special. I highly recommend the restaurant .

Jennifer Devine

I was in town for a wedding and decided to try out Peninsula Grill. Very happy I did. The atmosphere was excellent food and drink amazing just wish I had room to try dessert. I would definitely recommend this place!

Sabrina Matthews

The coconut cake and their take on a good Brandy Alexander. P E R F E C T I O N.

Chris Devido

Excellent service and food.

AR Brady

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful place, everything has the façade of greatness. My wife and I were not pleased with the meal it was OK. My “old-fashion” drink was average at best

Mark Bechtel

Great bartender pouring some wonderful sparkling rose, and the coconut cake was fantastic!

Sara Matar

Had the quail appetizer , beef short rib main entree and chocolate bread pudding! Everything was so delicious!

Anthony Buckhorn

My wife and I sat at the bar for drinks and desert. What we were served was something special. We enjoyed an apple cheesecake that is indescribable, and of course we ordered the coconut cake. Memorable doesn't begin to describe my food experience here. I am thankful that I can order this coconut cake and have it shipped to me down here in Florida.

Karan Patel

All you need to order is the coconut cake...

Myra Walz

Awesome experience and outstanding dinning experience. And yes, you have to order the coconut cake for dessert!

Yvette Spivock

Excellent! Excellent! Best in town! Flavors are incredible. Plating is brilliant. But what really puts this place head and shoulders above the rest is the impeccable service. This is no high priced coffee shop where they reach across you and plump food on the table. Most waiters are much too intimate jovial and friendly for high-class restaurants. Here the servers glide it in when needed and glided out of the way, plates were placed in front of everyone at the same time and removed at the same time. Our main server was on hand when we had a question and was professional, friendly without being our best friend, and informative. The sommelier appeared without being called. Attentive and unobtrusive and excellent high class service. truly exceptional

Nick C

Take it from a world traveler who went to Ole Miss...you will NOT find a more authentic 1st class southern dining experience on the planet that exceeds this gem! Service likewise is unsurpassable!

Gary Griggs

Excellent meals, superb service and great atmosphere. Four-diamond rating. But the prices reflect that.

Donna Slappey

Perfect dinner ,expert attention!

L Prantil

High end restaurant in the Planters Inn Hotel. Very nice.

Bob Materka

Another utterly fantastic Charleston restaurant

Colin Donovan

Food was outstanding! Our waiter was exceptional even considering the place was slammed when we got there. We were seated immediately (MAKE A RESERVATION!), and treated like royalty. A truly amazing culinary experience, very pricey, but worth every penny.

Swathi Prabhu

Excellent Service! Coconut cake is a must-try!

Sagid A. Elhillali

As usual everything here is fantastic! I had the she crab soup to start, followed by the scallops and of course had to finish with their world's famous coconut cake. The service at Peninsula Grill is unmatched and our server's knowledge of the menu was impressive.

Melody Holcomb

My husband and I dined here last night, and we were thrilled. I had found this place three years ago when I stayed at the Planters Inn and loved it. Our service was attentive and friendly; our butter was refreshed without having to request it. We enjoyed the beet salad, she-crab soup, snapper, and the infamous coconut cake which is just amazing! Note: I took some home for breakfast. :) We will always eat here when visiting Charleston.

Maria

A classic fine dining restaurant with authentic food. The service was excellent! The intimate lighting and romantic atmosphere create an even more personalized experience.

Brian Holm-Hansen

Outstanding haute cuisine. The quicke lorraine was prepared and presented beautifully with perfectly sauteed onions, delightfully thick and smokey bacon, perfectly cooked egg yolk, and a delicate and savory crust. The fried chicken and bisquits was also delicous and served with a savory sauce and nicely pickeled vegetables. The service was outstanding: very prompt and friendly. The anbiance of the historic location was very nice.

Peter McDowell

Great food and drinks. Everything was cooked perfectly and the waiters and waitresses did an excellent job. BUT they have crammed too many tables into the small space making it nearly impossible to to get around and so loud that you can't even hear the person talking next to you that is the main reason this gets a 3-star.

Peter Candelaria

Excellent! This is a very nice restaurant, incredible service and great food.

Holt Wrenn

Always performs perfectly, world class restaurant.

John H. Roff MD

Superior food and drink. Beautiful ambiance with impeccable service. Only drawback is the lack of valet parking.

Chris M

Had an incredible meal and dining experience at Peninsula Grill. Johnathon and the whole team delivered such great service. Wine list is second to none and the food was amazing. Will definitely return when in Charleston again.

Peter Phan

Jessica at the bar is so nice and welcoming.

Caitlyn Rankie

Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. I would highly recommend! And coconut cake is a must!

Robert Marriott

real service, and quiet enough to talk. Crab bisque was ok ...other pafts were excellent .

Christina montgomery

We celebrated 3 birthdays here and the service was impeccable! The dinner was Devine! The atmosphere is very romantic, upper class. I would highly recommend this restaurant for birthday's, anniversaries, special occasions, or just a night out. The costs definitely is worth EVERY penny spent. Thank You Peninsula Grill for making our night extra special!

Susan Pretty

Excellent food, service, and ambience... perfect for a special dining experience!

meri miranda

Excellent service! Regresare!!!

Louise Hyland

Magical! We ate outside on a warm March evening, and it could not have been better. Our server was wonderful, our meals were great (try the trigger fish and the NY strip) but the best part was the coconut cake for dessert. Reason by itself to visit Charleston! I hear they ship whole cakes if you can't make the trip. It's worth it!

Kashimori

Dined there Sunday night, October 7th. Staff was attentive but not excessively so. They maintained a nice balance of service. I requested a special salad which they accommodated which was delicious. The swordfish was cooked to perfection with a tasty lemon-ginger sauce. The wife’s was happy with her 3-Way lobster. The Oregon Willamette Pinot Noir complemented everything to perfection. In all, a very enjoyable dining experience.

Surf Communications

Great spot ! We had a very good experiance. The food was exquisite!

Awendaw Red

If you are looking for that special place, this is one Charlestons best.

elenfae

Very efficient and polite service! Everything we ate was delicious and the staff never interrupted a conversation to ask us anything. They waited until the speaker was finished with a sentence to interject. Our whole group was served at one time so that nobody had to wait to eat. Perfect atmosphere with perfect service.

sandra Connors

So very lovely dining in the courtyard...beautiful food...perfect wait staff...always a favorite.

Steve Reeves

Food was good, the atmosphere was great. Price was high in comparison to the way my food tasted. I enjoyed it though.

Preethi PB

Amazing. Food, service, everything was excellent. Our server, Jonathan was so attentive. I have been to several high end restaurants, this is a true gem, amazing service, probably the best, without the price tag. The coconut cake is everything it's hyped up to be, a must have.

Ron Plante Jr.

This place is amazing and did a great job for my wife’s 40th Birthday. They are known for their famous coconut cake and the brought a whole one out for the occasion. The quality of food is undeniable. I had the filet for main course and she crab soup to start. It was delicious. The atmosphere, the food, the service just can’t be beat.

Morgan Falk

Local. Every meal has been excellent. The coconut cake...I don’t even like coconut and it’s amazing! First choice for special occasions. One of the best restaurants in the city. The food is amazing and the service impeccable.

Jacob Springman

Amazing beef tartare, amongst other items

Grant Hewitt

Had the wreckfish and to say it was amazing is an understatement. The service was amazing, a must eat if you are in Charleston!

Tim Reynolds

Fine dining at its finest. The setting, the service, the wines and the food were all wonderful. Peninsula Grill puts attention to detail at the center of everything. A real treat!

Ashton Austin

I have dined here a few times and the food is always amazing and the service impeccable but last night I sat at the bar and had the best escargot I've ever had and the center cut filet with foie gras was out of this world! The bartender , Cassandra , made the whole experience one of the best I've had! Thank you Cassandra

Stacey Agran

Room Service. Food absolutely amazing.

Jamie Adams

Reliably wonderful food, wine, service at the Peninsula Grill. Tables outside on the courtyard are lovely. The baked oysters (Rockefeller) are the best we have EVER had. Don't miss this place! We celebrated our 37th anniversary there. Ambience, food and service were all outstanding. It had been a number of years since we last dined there. It was as wonderful as we had remembered. We won't wait so long to go back next time.

Latasha Brown

We love it here. We usually sit at the bar unless it's a special occasion, but even then we may sit at the bar. The bartenders are great Kory, Cassandra, and Joanna are all amazing and very personable. The coconut cake is a must, so make sure you get it as an appetizer. That way you make room for the good stuff first!

Kay Trimm

One of the finest meals I have ever had! I have dined in fine restaurants all over the world and this truly ranks among the top 5! In my opinion you just can't come to Charleston without this amazing experience!! Highly recommend!!

Buffy White

Valentine's Day 2018! Wonderful bar service while we awaited our reservation time. Seated in a nice Cozy corner with a Great view of the establishment. Service was Impeccable!!!! And the Valentine's Day menu was ON POINT!!! And the Froi Gras!!! Can't wait to Return!!!

Alice Ashley Van Kirk

I was very excited to visit the Peninsula Grill on our recent visit to Charleston. I was shocked at the terrible service received at the Grill. The hotel and property is lovely, although the reception at the restaurant is not.

Lanie Dean

I won a gift card for restaurant week but as everyone is aware we were slightly delayed with Dorian closing down most of Charleston and keeping us cooped up in our small apartment that when we finally made reservations, we missed restaurant week by exactly one night. Weekends here book up very fast especially on restaurant week!

Cara Burns

We loved our evening at the Peninsula Grill! The staff was so nice and friendly. They did not think we were cheap for sharing our starter a huge piece of Foie Gras that I highly recommend! We are French and we know what we are talking about! The piece would be too big for one single person unless your liver is made of steel! I recommend having it "cold", which the server thought was uncooked but it not true, it is cooked, it just means that it is un-seared which I like better for foie gras. It was not on the menu but we asked for it and they agreed! Wonderful! The bread is home made and super good. We had a wonderful steak after that we shared again and the piece was so big that we did not regret sharing. The same for the coconut cake which is amazing but huge! We could not finish it.

Miranda Patrick

Had dinner with my husband here in December and it was an amazing experience. The food is wonderful, the wine list is great and the service is some of the best. The lobster 3 ways is something not to miss as are the grits with speck.

Gustav

Wonderfully elegant dining room, friendly Southern service, sophisticated food, and a very decadent dessert! We came for a group dinner and we had an amazing time, and we can’t wait to return. Service was so attentive and friendly. Great wine list. The food was delicious- I’d highly recommend the “lobster 3 ways” and the scallops. The steaks are all cooked to perfection, the side dishes are wonderful. And that iconic coconut cake is huge and utterly delicious. The Peninsula Grill is a wonderful location to celebrate with friends or celebrate a special occasion and I can highly recommend dining here.

Brian Paavola

We had dinner with friends and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the snapper and it was one of the best preparations of snapper. It was made with a brothy clam sauce. I would say it is an upscale place and a jacket for men is the typical dress. Really enjoyed the whole experience.

Caroline Staley

Banana Panna cotta and coconut cake were divine!!!! Such a treat!

Vanessa Chardos

The whole experience was incredible from the outdoor seating, our waiter (Daniel), and the food. I ordered the she crab soup and wanted to lick the bowl, the lobster melted in my mouth, my bf ordered the duck which was equally delicious. It was worth every penny!

MIKE Campbell

Great New Year's Eve experience! Love the coconut cake!

ed lezerp

One of the best resuranats in South Carolina. The staff is a little snobby, but the food is excelllent.

We went here on our honeymoon. The food was incredible! I recommend the duck breast and the she crab soup! They treated us to two red velvet cake bites!!

OMG, that Coconut 9 layer cake was the best, can't wait to get my hands ln another slice and don't forget to order the Fire Fly Tea.

Overall, the food was good, as expected for a fine dining restaurant, but not exceptional for a fine dining restaurant. The hostesses at the entrance were pretty terrible and put a damper on the start of the evening (somewhat rude and unfriendly) but our waitress for the evening was so lovely & wonderful that she cancelled them out. Coconut cake was well balanced in cake vs. icing but not a must try.

What a perfect setting and delightful evening spent here with my husband. We stopped by on the early side as we did not have reservations, and asked for a seat outside (even though the temps were hovering around 88 and the humidity around the same). We have been here before and know that it is a little slice of heaven here in downtown Charleston, tucked into a narrow garden between the hotel and guest rooms. We were greeted by one of the best professional servers we have ever met: David, originally from Northbrook, Illinois, was kind, personable, elegant and savvy. The cuisine was divine: both of us ordered a crab cake on top of our salads and quite possibly one of the best crab cakes we have ever eaten. Mine was served over a wedge salad with house-made avocado dressing and smoked bacon. David made sure that the kitchen brewed a fresh pot of decaf coffee for my husband's iced coffee and my Southern Manhattan was perfection: icy cold with Luxardo cherries. Desert was a decedent confection of chocolate. A perfect evening for us. Thank you David and Planter's Inn!

Great food can make any place good, but incredible service sets restaurants apart. Charlie blew us away from the moment we arrived. The service was world class, and the food amazing.

Beautiful destination, and wonderful background music which helps set the atmosphere of the restaurant. The customer service was swift, knowledgeable of the menu, social and well organized all together, something which I believe has become scarce in the restaurant community. I personally had ordered the seasonal Halibut for my entree, and the Sheet

Came here just for a slice of their coconut cake...and was not disappointed. Many thanks to Hank for taking care of us even though you were not open yet!
