REVIEWS OF Paula Deen's Family Kitchen IN South Carolina

Bruce Bauer

Yummy comfort food that is as tasty as it is filling. We tried a little bit of a number of dishes. All of them ranged from good to great. The green beans and collard greens were excellent. Ribs and pot roast were also quite good. However, for me the dessert stole the show. I had the butter cake. Amazing! I also tried the banana pudding which was phenomenal too. Brad, our server was very talkative and very pleasant to talk to. He gave us pointers on food, places to visit around Myrtle Beach and just good general conversation. He kept my drink full too. Nice work!

Paula never disappoints! My friends and I have been to The Lady and Sons in Savannah several times. On our recent visit to Myrtle Beach, we were so excited to learn that she had a restaurant there. As usual, the food was great! We loved the atmosphere, and we can't wait to go back.

Chris Jobe

Pork chops were delicious and tender. Chicken dumplings we're dumplings and very little chicken. The vegetables were just ok. Small amounts even though you could ask for seconds. Garlic biscuits were hard. Tasted like cooked day before and warmed. Very expensive for what you get.

Adam Cook

It's Paula Deen, people. What kind of a review are you looking for? The meatloaf and catfish were very tasty and done very well. Service was phenomenal with two on point recommendations for other local eating establishments.

kit kat

Great food. Great service. Very affordable

Sam Love

Pot roast tasted like it was from a can, chicken was ok at best, ribs were tender but no flavor

Ted Johnson

I looked forward to eating here because of the name. I expected home style food that was tasty, maybe prepared a little more creatively. I was greatly disappointed. The facility was huge and impersonal, the service was so-so (I apparently misunderstood our server a total of three times during our visit, which is unusual), the delivery was not as quick as expected and the food, itself, was bland. The sweet potato casserole side was very good, the fried chicken was dry, the spare ribs looked like they had been sitting out for a hour or two waiting for someone to order them, the corn casserole needed a sauce or something to bind it. It was very dry and the corn bread was too crumbly to be identified as corn bread...and the prices were steep. I will try something else the next time I visit Myrtle Beach.

Went with a large group and did the family style option, It was fantastic!. Great food, great staff... Would highly recommend this place and plan to go again.

Sergio Rosario

Amazing food and service! Came here for breakfast and the bill for 2 people was just $33 can you believe this? For the amazing quality food. Will be coming back!

SHADOW BURGER

Food was excellent! I loved the meat loaf! This is my first time and hopefully will be far from the last! The all you can eat it is amazing! Our waitress was super friendly, and was super quick to take our orders and bring them out. I loved it here and would definitely recommend!

Michelle Harris

Delicious food and they give you as much as you can eat. I love the family style service! They're was a wait but there is plenty to see while you wait and it is definitely worth the wait. The waiter that we had was great! Fast and friendly service. We'll definitely be back

Beonca Harrington

GREAT. It reminded me of my great grandmother's cooking. Everything was amazing. No complaints. Well worth the price

meghan doak

Absolute perfection!!! Wonderful experience and service from start to finish. No wait. I don't understand the complaint regarding no take-out boxes. The waiter/waitress tells you the moment you sit down that it is family-style/all you can eat, but you can not take leftovers home. I have never been to an all you can eat restaurant that allows you to take home leftovers. Some backwoods folks on these reviews looking for something for nothing. Fabulous establishment.

Vanessa Pando

I had a chicken pot pie with a side of cheese grits. Very chewy breading like it was microwaved and the grits tasted like they were from a can or something even though I know they probably weren’t they tasted like they were. The pot pie tasted like hospital food no flavor. Total disappointment! We were so looking forward to a good dinner and this was nothing like what I imagined.

claude dusenbury

Always gave a good experience at Paul Deen's Family Kitchen on family vacation the last 3 years at Mrtyle Beach. The food is always delicious, great service. The only thing from giving 5 stars if the fact u can't take any food to bring home with u.

Michael Hucks

This is very good quality southern comfort food. I have been many times and the food is always delicious and consistent. I was born and raised locally and the food here tastes just like what we cook at home. I would highly recommend the fried chicken and beef roast. I enjoy the views from the upstairs dining room looking out over the lake. This is family style dining so you order 3 meats, 4 sides for the table and everyone shares. You can get refills on all the food you order but you can't take anything home. (They tell you this before you eat) The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is sometimes the service is lackluster. Of course it all depends on the server. The food makes up for it most of the time.

Lee Compere`

Some of the best southern food I've ever had including catfish spareribs pot roast and fried chicken.

Tiara Drake

The fried chicken is AMAZING. I can't explain how amazing it is but I'll try. As soon as you bite into it, you'll see how juicy it is, and then you're inundated by the most amazing flavor. All the food is great. But the fried chicken is out of this dang world!!

Connie Douglas

The wait time was 80 min at 6pm on a Sunday night for a party of 11. You can not make reservations or call ahead seating. We decided it was worth the wait for a birthday dinner. Once you get seated and give your selections the food arrives very quickly, and when the bowls are empty, they are quickly refilled. The service and food were fantastic and the entire party had great things to say. If you plan to go, don't go starving cuz chances are you will have to wait. You can check in, go window shopping or let the kids play at the near by play ground. They will text you and you have 10 minutes for your party to be inside to be seated. The southern fried chicken and catfish was our favorite along with the beef pot roast.

Rusty Hawks

Great food. Wonderful staff and more food than you could possibly eat

Kyle Marlin

This place is amazing and it deserves many more stars. There is sort of an interesting concept here, where you order unlimited "family portions", and the whole table has to agree on the entrees and sides. It's $22 to $25 per person, appetizers and drinks extra, and you can't take home any food. While it's certainly expensive, if you can swing it, it's a good experience with great food. We are return customers. As a side note: Megan was our server and she was fantastic. If management is listening, give her a raise! She provided attentive service, always with a genuine smile and personable attitude. She was what made the experience great.

Chris Stillwell

Hostess said we would be seated In 10-20 minutes. Was 30 minutes before we were seated. Food did arrive quickly. The food tasted like what you would get at a Ryan’s buffet. Which in my opinion is not very good. I’m only glad we tried this restaurant so we know not to go to another. Waiter never refilled our drinks even though I kept them at the end of the table for him to see, brought out the wrong dessert and had to wait almost 10 minutes for the correct one.

Phil Manno

We were looking forward to this dining experience.Sadly, we left without eating. So many silly rules about ordering food and trying to omit meat from a dish,or sharing some of my meal with my wife. The waitress had to leave our table twice to get answers to our questions, unfortunately the restaurants rules did not allow any alterations to their menu. I left a ten dollar bill on the table for our two sodas and found a patron friendly restaurant across the way. Sorry Paula,,,this needs your ATTENTION.

Kenisha Curtis

We were very excited to try this location. It was just okay. I wish management would revisit the take-home policy. Makes me wonder what happens to all those leftovers. It was for us, just general comfort food, similar to what you’d get at a cafeteria for a fraction of the cost.

Jackie T

Not worth the price but the majority of the food was good. Greens where salty as heck. Probably wouldn't ever go back bc there are no to go boxes and food is served buffet style which is honestly such a waste unless you wanna eat till you pop. Wish we would've known before we went

Stacy M

Our 3rd visit at this PD location. As expected, the food was amazing. We decided to go early in the evening (5pm) and were seated immediately. We chose the ribs and fried chicken as our main dishes. I don't eat ribs but my husband raved about them. The fried chicken is the best we've ever had. A bottomless meal with a "home cooked" feel was just what we were craving after eating out countless times during our vacation. Desserts can now be taken with you to go. Either ooey gooey cake is the way to go. I only took away a star because of our service. That may not be fair, as all of our other visits (including in Gatlinburg) provided amazing service. Our waitress made us feel bad for asking for more chicken and ribs and she definitely would have preferred that we had taken our desserts home. Overall, a must stop while in Myrtle Beach.

Mindy Miller

Everything was delicious. Wish there was a few more items to choose from on menu. Sweet tea with lemon and peach cobbler are worth the experience!! Bring extra money there is a store downstairs!

Bonnie Smith

I must say I was a little disappointed. The food reminded me of cafeteria/large quantity prep. Not to tasty. I didn't like the 2 options group options. I would have preferred the traditional buffet style like in Savannah. I don't think I will visit this location again. Savannah spoiled me! Service was lacking too.

Mary Underwood

My husband and I thought we would give her restaurant a try. We were seated and had a great view of Broadway At The Beach. The food we had ordered was very delicious and fulfilling. Everything was nice about the restaurant including staff and waitress!!

Daniel Fisher

Their menu is not vegetarian friendly at all. We had a vegetarian with us for dinner and not only was the manager unwilling to do anything for her at all, but she was very rude. Luckily for us our waiter was very good and got something for her. His service was fantastic, and the food was amazing. Unfortunately I just cant rate this place higher due to their choice in managers

Patrick Townsley

BEST RESTAURANT EVER. 2 stars like 2 thumbs up

D. G.

I just went in the store part and found items to be way over priced. It's a tourist.place so expect high prices. I can say the items are good quality.

Chad Quinn

Food was okay. Pricing for family style was more expensive than it was worth and isn't completely advertised on the signage in their waiting after. Should have an option to order individual meals instead of paying ridiculous prices for family style. This place was like a nicer cleaner version of the Old Country Buffet except you only got 3 selections for $30 per person.

mel sanders

Food was ok, chicken was a little salty, candy yams was good, meat loaf good, pot roast A1 with the rice Mac and cheese was good could not eat the greens I don't eat pork wish they had another option for people like me that don't... Over all nice staff, sweet Tea with lemonade good as hell. Customers service A1 so Paula Seems get a 4

A W

Southern food served family style. Beat the Carolina heat and quench your thirst with a Georgia Peach Iced Tea! Don't fill up on the biscuits though, save room for the "Down Home Dishes and side's" with unlimited refills. Last but not least satisfy that sweet tooth with her Ooey Gooey Butter Cake

RAHKISHA DIAL

I have been to Paula Dean restaurant in Savannah and the service and food was way better. Do not like the idea of how you have to order food and can not take your left overs home with you. Will not return to Paula Dean in Myrtle Beach a waste of money.

Paul McDonald

We were disappointed! As a southern boy, I expected better quality and better tasting food. We were there in mid afternoon, so food could've been cooked earlier and left under heat lamps. For the time of day, the service was mediocre. They weren't that busy. Hoping it was just an off day but I don't think we'll go back and take that chance.

Buyer T

Its just like Golden Corral!! Well without the steak or the chocolate fountain and double the price. Actually that’s wrong of me the meatloaf and fried chicken at Golden Corral is better. I will say the Mac and cheese was ok so the got the second star for that.

Jennifer Hardister

In all honesty I thought this was something different than it was. I did not know this was a family style restaurant - until we got there - and honestly the food reminded me of a family style serving of food from Golden Corral. The food is the quality of cafeteria food. The restaurant even smells like a cafeteria - you know what I mean .... It is not worth the money or experience. I'm sorry I just don't think it was. I really was looking forward to going and was so disappointed.

Katie Tucker

My family really liked Paula Deen's Family Kitchen. All the food is served family style so the whole table has to agree upon the dishes that you select. All of the food was pretty good. Some of it was a little bland but for the most part dinner was very good. Also, the service was great! From the friendly girl downstairs when we first walked in to our wonderful waitress, everyone was very friendly and took great care of us.

Brian Cecil

Nice concept, food was hot and fresh. Service was polite, friendly and attentive. Nice view upstairs over looking the inner Broadway .

Eric Odell

Food was decent, nothing spectacular. For the place we were eating at and for $23 a person, I was expecting some of the best, if not the best, southern style food I've had. It’s nice it’s buffet style with what you order but save yourself about $5-$10 a person and go elsewhere or your southern cooking cravings. Waitress was nice and helpful and kept the refills of drinks and food coming. It was something to experience but would not recommend unless you absolutely just want to eat at Paula Deans.

Marilyn Bischof

Good southern cooking served family style. Nothing outstanding, but good and great ambiance.

Lenny Dicken

Great food. Typically a decent wait to get in, but once seated, food comes out relatively quickly. It's a family style serving, therefor you pick 2 to 3 options for the table to share. Not the place to go if you have a very specific item in mind and didn't want whtlat the group wanted. It is all you care to eat as you just order whatever you run out of again. We got the meatloaf, ribs, creamy potatoes, creamed corn and sweet potatoes and all were fantastic! To top it off, you get dessert of your individual choice and you can't go wrong with butter cake. Wow! It also wouldn't be a review without mentioning the biscuits you get with the meal as well. They are buttery, cheesy, and baked to perfection. Great meal and experience and will definitely return!

Second time visiting. We were seated waited 15 minutes and no waitress helped us . We moved to another seat and got served instantly. Shelby the waitress was amazing. Accommodating and excellent. Great food and lovely view.

If you haven't been, read this before you go: (1) Be hungry. The best option is to ask for small dishes of items your table may not eat several large servings of. Since this is family style, you will not be allowed to take leftovers and the restaurant tosses them (dessert can be take-away.) You can get more (all you can eat) but if you hate to waste, ask for the smaller serving dishes. (2) Served "family style" so be sure all in your party can agree on entrees and sides. We had quite a debate on the sides. (3) Don't go late because the food is tired (seemed to be kept on heat/simmered for hours after prepared.) The black-eyed peas had been cooked down to a mush. Collared greens were so salty we (sadly) had to send them back. Broccoli casserole was dry and not tasty at all. Macaroni and cheese was okay. ChickFilA's is better. (4) Pricing. We had dinner so there were two options: 2 meat entrees and 4 sides ---OR--- 3 meat options and 4 sides. Beverages are priced separately from your meal. $22.99 + drink price per person for 2 entrees. $24.99 + drink price per person for 3 entrees. Kids under 10 are $10.99 + drink price. Ask if any of the meat entrees come with rice (or anything else) before you order your sides...you may end up with a beef pot roast (with white rice) entree and a white rice side. BTW, the beef pot roast is just the cooked roast somewhat shredded in a jus and white rice. If you are expecting carrots/potatoes/onions in your pot roast, you will be disappointed. Dessert choices were peach cobbler and a cake. We got the cobbler to go. Children had brownies. It was a first and last Paula Deen Restaurant visit for us.

rklinger1

The wife and I went on a Tuesday afternoon, and were seated immediately. Our server Brad was prompt, courteous, and attentive. We had the chicken and pork chops, it was like a taste of home.

Patrick Pomeroy

One more thing I scratched off my bucket list. Been dying to visit here. So glad I did. Kind of overwhelming. Great store. Thank God for plastic!. Very reasonable for a resort. Food was amazing. Perfect menu set up. Priced perfectly. I definitely pigged out...Ribs, fried chicken, meatloaf, black eyed peas, slaw, mac and cheese and the best greens I have ever tasted, before my cobbler. Shortly after we left...my bourbon and cigar ended a perfect evening. It's rare expectations are met nowadays, and rarer yet, surpassed. Thank you for living up to my expectations.

sharon coulson

Very long wait for a table n another wait for waitress. Very expensive .No to go boxes except dessert. Lots of food all you can eat and great peach tea, Mac n cheese, green beans, cream corn was fab, pork chops ok, catfish was good. Great view of fireworks. Very nice store

Johnny Rodgers

We were a party of 5 adults at the Myrtle Beach restaurant. The only option is family style eating, there are two choices, two and three main dish and four sides. Way too much food and you are not allowed to take the leftovers home so it is wasted. The food was too salty and really not "wow this is good"!! If you want good southern food go to Cracker Barrel where the food is really good. I will not go back to a PD.

George Larner

Good southern comfort food. And good price. You can't leave hungry.

Melissa Briggs

We waited 90 minutes for a table, 25 minutes for our order to be taken. Food was bland and didn’t come out all at once due to the kitchen being backed up. I understand things get busy but from putting our name in until we paid it was three hours.

WL Pillow

Have to come eat here! Service remarkable, food looks like it came outnof a magazine and taste like a dream. From the biscuit to dessert. One tip I will give, COME HUNGRY!

Cnut

Great southern food served family style. My family ordered fried chicken, fried catfish, pot roast, mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, collared greens and broccoli casserole. All the food was excellent. You could eat as much as you want. The waiter was excellent. So why 4 stars and not five? You can order as much as you want, but can’t take any home and actually I get that! Place would go broke just after a visit or two from my family. However, if you only order the first round of food, you should be able to take that home. We had chicken and fish and as far as I know it was thrown away!

Ewilliams Williams

Family table buffet i paid $90 for 4 p and chose 2 meats 3 sides and take home dessert only. The dessert was not all good. The meats was good biscuits waaay to thick

Sam Barnard

Service was great but the food was salty for my taste! The breading on the chicken was about perfect but I couldn't get over the salt. Chicken and dumplings were just as salt for me. Its not bad but very forgettable in my opinion. It may have been an off day for them though!

s3ñ0r gu4po

Homestyle meals. Love the way it's served, pick your number of main entrees and then pick your sides and desert. Get the two main courses you won't be able to eat it all. You can't take leftovers home but you won't leave hungry either. Very clean and very good service. We will probably come back next time we're in the area. Ooey Gooey Butter Cake and Chocolate Cake are amazing.

Tracee Church

Expected better. Family style is homey but everyone has to agree. We had Fried chicken which was just fried chicken, pork chops which were fried very hard with big pieces of green peppers, onions & some gravy, ribs which were overdone but had a good seasoning. Collards were too salty, mac & cheese was not baked long enough, loved the yams without the melted marshmallow & I didn't taste the corn but was advised ok. I loved the store downstairs along with Paula's kitchen and of course all the butter which makes it better!! Will not return but glad I did experience it.

Lesley Hinkle

The restaurant was beautiful and the staff was friendly. We chose this restaurant for the "country cooking." It was AWFUL. It was overpriced for the quality of food. The banana pudding had rotten bananas, the fried chicken was very greasy and all of the food tasted like it was cooked and reheated from days prior. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

tammy freeman

The restaurant is on top level. There is a store on bottom. There were 5 of us 3 kids (10, 6, and 3) and 2 adults. The meal is family style. The kids wouldn't try the meatloaf. Neither my husband or myself liked the meatloaf. It was a little dry for our taste. My husband and kids wouldn't try the chicken and dumplings. I didn't find any chicken in it, and the dumplings were small. My husband and kids liked the fried chicken. I didn't like the breading on the fried chicken, but the chicken was juicy. There were 4 desserts. I didn't find any banana's in the banana pudding. My 10 year old could not find any vanilla wafers. The peach cobbler was good. The chocolate cake was more of a brownie than cake. The butter cake was more of a light brownie or what I call a blondie. We were Not allowed to take any food home. When I asked what would happen to the leftovers, I was informed it would be put in the trash. I was so sad about this. All that excess food going to waste.

Kimberley Frantz

Amazing food! Bring your appetite it's family style, all you can eat. Great gift shop too!

Penny Moore

There was a 45 minute wait ,but the food was so good. The pot roast was the best ever. And the cake was outstanding. But definitely go there hungry. They give you so much food.

Antonio Assetto

Very clean. Food was delicious. Waitress was absolutely sensational and did a great job both serving and entertaining the whole family.

Marjorie Hetling

It was an experience. Very accommodating staff. The family style serving was more than generous. Our favorite was the fried chicken.

Narva Daniels

I really like the family atmosphere and the style of service. However, the main entrees and side dishes are too salty, the desserts (especially the Butter Cake)are too sweet and beverages are not listed on the menu. I also noticed the differences in the variety of entrees offered at some of the other locations. I would certainly like to have the Shrimp & Grits and a few other choices.

Katie Macmillan

Great food served family style and all you can eat. GET THE OOEY GOOEY BUTTER CAKE FOR DESSERT. You won’t be disappointed. The restaurant is upstairs, her shop downstairs. Loved the food, loved the goodies in the store. Great service and experience.

Jason Smathers

I wish I could split the review with a higher 5 star rating in ambiance and a 1 star rating for food and quality. Being a foodie from the north I came here with my family reading split reviews but a high overall rating expecting great things. The building and view is incredible and the staff and service was awesome, this being said there are some huge issues here. I can say that the best thing on the menu is the free bisquits. Everything we tried from the okay meatloaf to the fried chicken that could be beaten by KFC or a Mom and Pop Shop up home like Fiesta Chicken (if you've ever been to Akron in Ohio you'd know) it was just okay. I heard it described in the best way by another patron after we'd finished, "...like an upscale version of Crackel Barrel". This issue then here is that Paula Dean's is severely not worth the $15-$24 a person.

Heather Cook

Wonderful experience and food was delicious! We chose fried chicken and pot roast. Sides of Mac and cheese and green beans tasted home cooked hot and fresh to order. The rolls at the start and the gooey cake at the end hit it off. Our only reason for not a perfect rating was the cost. We really didn’t anticipate it being so expensive otherwise we’d love to try the breakfast sometime.

Brooke Adkins

The staff is very friendly. The food is family style and is refillable. We had fried chicken, chicken, and dumplings, pot roast with rice, broccoli casserole, creamed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and green beans. Plus a dessert! Such a great deal! The whole establishment is very clean. Our waitress was Kat. She was a delightful server. She always made sure we had everything we needed. She is so friendly and kind.

Margo Lewis

While the hostesses and servers were definitely great, the food was very disappointing. We did not request a manager, but Farrah came over to speak with us as our appetizer (seafood dip) not only took a long time to come out, but the batch of bread we were served was very salty. Then, we ordered the two meats with 4 sides meal. We chose the roast with rice and gravy and the fried catfish, along with a broccoli casserole ( with Ritz crackers hastily crushed on top), green beans, mac n cheese and creamed potatoes. The catfish was fried perfectly, although little seasoning. The mac n cheese came out cold, with congealed cheese. Likewise, the green beans and broccoli casserole were cold and tasteless. The creamed potatoes were super thick, definitely not creamy and cold. The rice for the roast was over cooked. The roast itself was tender. We both had the blueberry lemonade, which was great. Farrah did take a substantial amount off our bill. But the first impression was already made.

Diane Lambert

Great dining experience. Food was abundant and delicious. Worth a visit.

David Abraham

The bread was pretty good and dessert tasted good... but my wife didn't make it out of the parking lot without throwing it all up. Our server was also a ghost most of the time.

Teresa Miracle

For the price, the food was mediocre at best. Same taste and quality of cafeteria food. Meatloaf was overcooked and dry, fried chicken was awful and service was even worse. Save your money!

Lesie Grant

Had lunch. Food was good and the server was attentive. Only negative was that our table asked for our desserts to go only to receive dessert portions that were stingy and we were told if we wanted a bag for our desserts we would have to take them downstairs and ask for one.

Rudy Santana

I expected better. The place is over rated. Is an over priced southern style restaurant. The pork chops and collard greens were extremely salty. We asked the waitress to tell the chef to don't add to much salt to our food and she said that could not be done. The food was so salty we could not enjoy it. We had our 5 and 6 year old kids and we were charged $21 for each kid to eat. My kids did not eat $42 worth of food. They should have a kids menu with smaller portion options . The family style of service is good but the food was not worth the money. I had better food from soul food restaurants.

alan egerton

The food was great and the service was just as good. Joshua was the best server. This food was really good and worth it.

Franklin Whiddon

Visited Paula Deen’s for the first time while I was on vacation this year. Based on reviews and recommendations and the type of food we wanted, Broadway at The Beach had this restaurant. I was excited to go but was disappointed in the food. The place was clean, offered a great view, and the service was quick and courteous. The food was lacking in the flare that the hype has given it. I don’t know if it is her recipes or the staff doesn’t know how to use them properly. I would suggest that Paula go and try the food here. The collard greens and cream corn was great but the roast beef and pork chops were really bland. The broccoli casserole and Mac and cheese tasted like something bought in a pan and heated up. My wife can give her some receipts that would liven some of these dishes up. I give this place a 3 star because the service was great! The shop was nice and not overly priced. However, I would expect more if my name were placed on the restaurant.

Ragan Madison

Great comfort food. I ate way too much. The style of dining is like if you were to go to your grandma's house for a Sunday dinner. You order several dishes to share with the table and you can get refills on anything you want. The staff was really friendly and the shop downstairs was lovely.

Nate Wood

The food was delicious and they bring you as much as you want. It seemed like we had quick service even though it was fairly busy. Our waiter did an awesome job and kept my drink filled. Definitely worth it!

Judy Byers

Food was good but as a chaperone with a high school group everyone had to agree upon the same choices. When it came to the dessert we all had to either agree to eat it there or take it with us. We could not be split in either case. Seems there should be other options for groups that are not family.

melissa mosier

If I could give less then a star I would. Does not make the list to go back to. Horrible service and the food was not very good. If you like the family style restaurant you need to visit a local place in Eastern Tennessee called the Farmers Daughter. Everything served there is home grown and you get all the sides for the day along with your choice of meats.

Greg & Karen Kindle

We were seated pretty quickly on a Thursday evening around 7:30pm. The food was really good-what you would expect for a place with a celebrity chef name. As others have noted it may seem a little pricey but you get a lot of food. We had the fried chicken, meatloaf, tossed salad, creamed potatoes, green beans and Mac n cheese. The garlic biscuits are fluffy we also had the fried green tomatoes. Very good too. The food is served family style and is all you can eat.

Rich Farkas

The food, as expected, was delicious. Fried chicken was wonderful, pot roast was tender and juicy and the side dishes were really good also. (I tried the black-eyed peas...yummy!) Price is reasonable for the amount and quality of the food that you get.

Veronica Parks

This was a very great experience! All the food was delicious! The desserts are mouthwatering! I would definitely go again when I come into town! All the staff was friendly! Oh let me not forget our garlic cheesy biscuits they served first! Amazing!

Gig McGig

Cracker Barrel has this place beat hands and at a more reasonable price

T Spears

Went here to celebrate my birthday on Labor day. The food was delicious, I truly mean it. Except the collard greens were almost too salty. My party enjoyed the ribs, beef, broccoli casserole, yams, mac n cheese. Despite the food being warm and inviting the staff was not. The hostess was not welcoming at all, almost made me change my mind about dinning here, very dismissive. The other staff was not much better. After we dine and explore the store downstairs no one ask if we need any help. I would definitely come back for the food but second guess because of the staff.

Tawanna Myers

The food was delicious I must say. The service was good as well. The set up is very different, family style. Depending on how many people in your, you choose if you want two or three meats and four side and for dessert, everyone gets one of their own. By us being so full, we got ours to go. We had meatloaf, which was room temperature, baked Mac & cheese which was good. The chicken was crispy, flavorful and seasoned to perfection, yams, green beans, catfish and the rice was hard. Other than that, it was a nice experience.

Dawn B

All you can eat breakfast for just 15 dollars! You order family style, picking dishes to share amongst your table, with unlimited refills. The black pepper bacon and creamy hashbrown casserole are stand outs, but all the food we tried was incredible!

Service (Mia) was fantastic! Food was good home cooking. Nothing special but yummy comfort food. Would go back if in the area.

Jess Barrett

I love this place! I love the pork chops and normally I wouldnt even try pork chops. The fried chicken is amazing and the desserts!!! They keep bringing the food out...I never leave not full to the brim lol I love the decor and the shop downstairs!!! I will go here over and over again

Alyssa Stuart

We had planned to come to Paula Deen's, on our family beach trip in July, months in advance and we are so glad we did! Our group consisted of 7 adults and 5 children. Ages 3-10 is the age range for children, so our 11 year old was considered an adult. We dined in for a late lunch around 1pm-ish. It was the perfect time to go! We went with the 2 meats, fried chicken and chicken n dumplings. It was plenty for our group! I recommend getting the broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes, and mac n cheese! All were delicious! We plan on going back next year. Also, dinner prices are around $10 more, so we ended up saving a good chunk by dining here for lunch!

Rita Colbert

True southern cooking at its best. We sampled the chicken and dumplings, cat fish, yams, Mac and cheese, slaw, and broccoli casserole. Everything was so delicious. Pricing is very reasonable considering you get to eat as much as you want of the entree and sides you have chosen. Just only one dessert per person and no carry outs (except for your one dessert if you are too full to consume it with your meal). The meal is served family style ( the sides are shared by whole table party). Our waitress was great! Our wait for our meal was only about 15 min and the restaurant was fairly busy. No complaints here, would definitely visit again.

Barron Koon

This place had excellent waitresses and customer service. The food me and my wife granddaughter order got to us really quick and was good and delicious! We will definitely recommend this place to anyone and definitely eat here again!

Brenda Munz

Excellent family style meal with the best biscuits!!! Dessert to go because we were too full!

Victor Digiuseppi

Food was ok. Not great. We went for dinner. The server we had was missing a lot and other people's servers seemed to be doing a much better job than ours. The creamed corn was great, ribs were mediocre, the chicken and dumplings were pure salt.

Mrs E

We were immediately seated. It didn't take long for us to receive our food...and it was delicious. So many options to choose from. I would definitely eat here again. You get your money's worth. They don't allow you to take any food with you in "to go" trays, so be sure to bring your appetite!

Claretta Ruff

The food was just wonderful well season. You did not have to add anything or take anything away. I would definitely recommend her restaurant.

Wayne Trivette

Great atmosphere and location. Great food and a reasonable price

San Perry

Overpriced! Food was edible but not what I expected from Paula Deen. Fried chicken was good. Sides were mediocre. Won't recommend or go back.

Gerald LeBlond

Very disappointed! Don't expect home country cooking! ,Biscuits were good and chocolate gooey cake was decent....nothing else was fresh, hot, moist or tasty. Our choices were fried chicken....my husband had a back and I had a wing..unreal! Meatloaf was cold and extremely dry. We've had much better food at Crackerbarrel for a lot less $. Paula Deen would've trashed our meal for sure...

Shawn McDowell

Great family style dining! Food was excellent and plentiful. Extremely nice staff. We dined at the Myrtle Beach restaurant, and our host, Britney, was very attentive and made us feel at home. Will definitely be back.

Karen Brant

Loved, loved the food! The wait staff was very efficient. Would have given five stars except we about froze to death. Food got cold too fast because of the frigid temperatures in the restaurant. Take a sweather or jacket with you. I know I will next week when I dine there.

Pam Dixon

I have eaten at Paula Dean’s in Myrtle Beach two times. I loved it and will go back soon. Great location. Service was always good. Southern food was really good, especially her fried chicken!

Candrea Cherry

The food was good but there were tons of issues. 1. The service was awful. We felt rushed. They were safe guarding the food. When we asked for more biscuits she said how many people at the table want one??? That’s a first. You’re just supposed to refill the basket. When food ran out they refilled it with small tacky (might I mention) cereals bowls instead of the serving dishes that they originally came out in. That’s the first time I’ve ever had wait staff take the excess food off the table before taking the dirty plates. You can’t bring the food home. There are no to go containers. So why were they rushing the food off the table as if to be used again?? 2. The desserts are a joke. That’s the only thing that comes in a tiny and I mean tiny container that’s half full. It’s enough for two swallows. I’ll NEVER pay money to come back here again. The food is expensive and you should get more than what they have to offer. Not in food but total experience and defiantly in dessert.

DuWane Connally

Food was great service was awesome great place to take the family for some home cooking on vacation

Debbie Snyder

First time visiting for dinner. My husband asked for dark meat chicken on second round but was served white. Ordered corn casserole but did not like as it was very dry. Waitress should have replaced with another option. Catfish, broccoli, salad and fried chicken was very good.

Jeff Testerman

A total disappointment! We visited this restaurant while on vacation in Myrtle Beach. We had heard so much about it and thought it would be a great choice. We got the 3 meat option and it was awful. The fried chicken was so salty you could hardly eat it, the ribs were smothered in sauce so much that you could hardly taste the meat and the roast beef was completely shredded but it was the best of all. I could not believe how salty the food was, even some of the veggies and macaroni and cheese were so salty you couldn't eat it. We were very disappointed!

This was our first time visiting and I was very happy my family chose Mother's Day for us visit. Upon entering the hostesses were very welcoming & friendly which made me even more happy about coming & the wait time wasn't long at all. Once seated our waitress Taylor came over & introduced herself & took drink orders, we all noticed she seemed a little irritated but we dismissed it as her having a prior bad table. So we proceeded to place our order & of course since this was our 1st time we had questions but Taylor seemed annoyed & said " I'll give you guys more time to look over the menu" which in turn we went ahead & said no well go ahead & order. The food came and tasted as good as it looked however due to the restaurants theme of family style dining as soon as plates/bowls/cups became empty they should have been removed from the table however Taylor just left them there, her whole demeanor & attitude was very illiberal. We had to ask for napkins, refills on drinks & food several times & remind her to remove the dirty dishes from the table. At this point I requested the manager, the manager came over & she apologized & cleaned our table & took 10% off of our bill. I felt the manager needed to be aware of the situation because we noticed Taylor paying close attention to other tables around us & clearing their dishes & being very attentive to them. Its unfortunate that Taylor is narrow minded & shes allowed to work for an establishment that serves various nationalities & cultures on a daily basis. 10% is not enough for ignorance. Disappointed

Jason Jett

Not familiar with the restaurant until my wife recommended it. Food come family style and no to- go boxes can be done . Unlimited portions so you get plenty off food. Food was good and upscale service

Millicent Collins

Great food, just hate the fact that you can't take what you don't eat out.. I'm big on not wasting food...So I can imagine how much food they throw away because they don't carry out!! That's the only reason why I would give a low grade..Oh yeah I waitress we had this pass weekend counted our chicken & glasses to make sure we didn't take anything out..

Rebecca Goetz

The staff was so friendly and welcoming. And the food...oh my three food was amazing. So delicious. The pork chops were so tasty and tender.

Jeff Jones

The food was awesome.. you will not leave hungry. We will definitely go back. All around good experience..

Frankie Christensen

Wonderful food and a large selection to choose from. Price and sevice is excellent. You won't leave hungry!

Barbara Linder

Nice gift shop ( as big as the restaurant area!) We had a 45 minute wait, but they text you when your table is ready. Brought extra helpings quickly. You can only choose two or three main dishes, which was a problem for seven adults...we couldn't all agree. Limited deserts.

Paula Deen is a genius capitalizing off of people with this place. $25-27 per person regardless of what you eat. $3+ for every drink. Choice of 2-3 entrees and 4 sides, cheddar biscuits and a tiny underwhelming dessert included. It resembled more the kind of food you'd get at a Southern cafeteria restaurant for about $7 per person, but with the price jacked up to pay for the name. Mediocre at best food. Tender meats, so so sides. Obviously mass produced. Pot roast was good, ribs, chicken and dumplings, mac and cheese. Skip the broccoli casserole. Everything tasted cheap and low quality, just layered in butter and cheese and gravy to fool you. They market it as all you can eat but fill you up on carbs. Even the dessert, told it would be included at the end of the meal, was hugely disappointing, no big slice of cake drizzled in syrup or cobbler fresh from the oven like you would expect. Just a tiny square in a paper bag. Would be better off finding a good soul food hole in the wall place. Or even a cafeteria. The food would be better. Visit the store for the Paula Deen experience if you're into that and skip the food. $100 for 3 people.

Joe Bailey

Food is delicious! Its family style, but unlimited. My wife and I basically had a table full of half the menu, and not one thing was bad. Ethan B took great care of us, making sure empty dishes were cleared and never let anything run out without checking with us first. No take homes allowed, but not a problem when you plan on spending the day walking around Broadway at the beach. You may want to take a slow walk after eating here anyway. Remember to wear your eating pants.

Zach Zibura

Was a surprisingly great chance to have an actual family style diner. The food was of course amazing featuring Paula’s actual recipes and was worth every single cent. The servers were also quite cheerful and attentive. Was definitely something new to take an escalator up to the actual restaurant but with an elevator right next to it they are also wheelchair accessible. Was a little annoying to have to go back down the escalator/ elevator just to use the bathroom though (located on ground floor). All in all spectacular time

The Cornermen

Had another great experience at Paula Deen’s. Restaurant was packed as always but our waitress was great and got our food to the table quickly. All of the food was delicious from the creamed corn, meatloaf, Mac n cheese, and ribs. Don’t forget about the best part. The cheesy biscuits are literally to die for. Hannah K would say they are even tattoo worthy. Don’t miss out on this place for a unique table experience.

Sue Grolton

1st time there, stopped for a light lunch and a cool down. Learned no such thing as a light lunch here. Everything is family style and bottomless and dinner prices. So we wound up just getting 2 appetizers, fried green tomatoes and seafood dip. Fried green tomatoes were good but mostly tasted fried breading. Seafood dip was too salty. Rolls too doughy?

Sara Gelpke

Our waitress Wendy was awesome. Food was delicious as well, definitely try the pork chops.

Elizebeth Thomas

So yummy, was a special treat going for breakfast while on vacation. Highly recommend. The menu was family style so table picks 5 dishes to share. Everyone loved it. Service was friendly and fast. Gift shop on lower level. Water view upstairs in restaurant.

Bradley Shirer

You definitely want to come here when you're really hungry and ready to eat. Breakfast and dinner is served to the whole table based on the main dish and side dishes you pick. Then, all food served is refilled upon request and can be refilled as many times as you want. Just know, you aren't aloud to take any leftovers home with you. Price is reasonable if you've got a large group. For just two people, you might not be able to eat your money's worth but it's still worth trying at least once.

5884lilbuff

Breakfast was really good, it's honestly better if your in a group of more than two you'll get your money's worth. It's all you can eat, you just cant take anything with you. Service was great, definitely would recommend.

Local Contributor

Excellent. It's Paula Deen, so if you aren't looking forward to eating deep-fried, buttery goodness dipped in Southern sauce, then keep on walking past the front door. This place is everything you crave in southern cuisine with ambiance and a staff who will make you feel right at home. Dig in, chow down, and postpone that colonoscopy for another day ...

Chris Blick

The food was fine but it is overpriced and our service was lacking. Could have just been our waiter but he wasnt very attentive at all. It's nice for a one time visit but that's about it for me.

Christopher Belcher

I ate southern food till I felt like I was going to explode. It's all you can eat southern food in a great location. Plan to eat here if you are very hungry.

Karen Moore

Loved the gift shop! Great things for sale! A little over priced but beautiful things. Loved the designs!

Jeff Evans

Excellent food. Waiter Aaron was knowledgeable, attentive, and helpful. Butter cake was incredible. When coming back to the Myrtle Beach area, we'll definitely be back, y'all!

Chris Moore

We ate at this location on a Monday at 2:30 pm. We had a party of 8, 6 adults and 2 kids. 2 of the adults were walking a little further behind us so they got there about 5 min after we did. We were told by the hostess that we couldn’t be seated until our entire party was there. Mind you, it was raining and I was carrying one kid and another was beyond ready to sit down. I asked the hostess if we could go ahead and be seated because it was obvious there was no wait. She told me it was policy not to seat before the entire party was there. So I asked her to see a manager. When the manager approached us she was VERY rude and unprofessional. You see, I understand your hostess was “100% correct by the policy” but you had a perfect opportunity to show your customer service skills by acknowledging the fact that it was raining, we had children with us, and the restaurant was over half empty, and you could have easily said “absolutely let’s take you right up.” Instead you had to be unprofessional and tell me you wouldn’t argue with me, which is a good thing for you because you would have lost not only that argument but also my business. You finally agreed to go ahead and send us upstairs where were were greeted by the ONLY pleasant employee in the entire establishment. She seated us and our waitress came up and was about as friendly as a cardboard box, making sure to tell us over and over again that no leftovers were allowed to be taken home. When we needed more rolls instead of taking initiative we had to ask, and then she goes “how many?” How many people are at this table? How about start there. I mean if y’all are going to dictate the amount of rolls you pass out like it’s Fort Knox go ahead and shut down. Finally the food was ok. The bread , green beans, and Mac n cheese was amazing but everything else left much to be admired. We were also told we couldn’t even have a to go cup for our drink. That just put the icing on the cake that I will never again give a Paula Deens establishment by business. Then as we were coming down the escalator, a very rude man was fixing the other side of it and made a smart remark about how we were coming down the escalator with a stroller instead of the elevator. Worry about yourself buddy and I’ll worry about mine. The entire atmosphere there was nothing but a poor experience. As local Nashvillians, we were excited to hear you’d be coming there but after this experience, it will be one less restaurant we will be trying in our hometown. Hopefully for the sake of other customers you get your Myrtle Beach location some training on how to treat customers and improve the customer experience.

Tim Martin

Great meal! So much food! Sure it’s not as good as some small mom and pop places but the service was good. The food was warm and is all you can eat! The biscuits and the butter cake is amazing! Worth the stop!

william tyler

Paula Dean was Paula mean. The people taking the reservations didn't text us as they said they would after our wait time. So when I went to ask what happened we were told that we could go up. The person at the escalator said we had to wait all over again, she pretty much dismissed us and treated us poorly Needless to say we did not eat southern cooking that night as we didn't even make it into the dinning room.

Faith Bridges

We visited on a Monday night about 7:30 PM. Seating was quick and easy. Our server was friendly and patiently explained the family style serving since it was our first time eating there. We had the fried catfish, meatloaf, mac and cheese, creamed corn, and collards which were all excellent. We didn't care much for the squash casserole. Tried the chocolate and vanilla butter cake for dessert. Both were good, but vanilla was better. The food was southern comfort but the atmosphere was very modern. Restaurant was very clean! We noted how thorough the cleaning was as they turned the tables. We were there till closing but never felt rushed to leave. We left full and happy!

Michelle Nelson

Do NOT go here unless you're hungry. The food and service was wonderful..I just had an issue with not being able to take the leftovers. We didnt reorder anything, had 3 small children with small appetites. I feel as tho the original food brought out should be allowed Togo. So much waste. Food was superb, and I crossed something off my bucket list!

Gladys Hayes

The best unhealthiest food ever! I went with my family. The larger the group the better!

Kyle Veres

Our dining experience was very good, and the value was good. Although a little pricey, you are getting all you can eat food brought to you plus a dessert for $18-$21. The food was pretty good, although some of the sides left a little to be desired. Also a word of advice: go ahead and ask for food refills as soon as your server asks. We waited until we had finished what was on the table and by the time we ordered more, we waited another 20 minutes and it threw off the rhythm of the overall dining experience. 4/5, would definitely come back.

Cata Rmd

Amazing food very tasty looks spectacular and smells like a thousand roses. Also very handsome and sweet server Pora Roberto is an artist at this job. You should consider increasing his salary.

Tom McManus

Great southern food. I do understand the reason you can't take any of the all you can eat food to-go but no sweet tea to go is a little extreme. Will come back soon.

Bball Murphy

Awesome! Family style dining was cool experience for our basketball team. One kid needs your prayers... he going to ask his Mom to make her black eyed peas like Paula Deen.

James Antill

Amazing Mac and cheese, and green beans. Fried chicken and short ribs also very good.

Andrea Blake

What a great family style restaurant. The style of eating is great and the family environment is so refreshing. They give you everything from two meats, vegetable, starch and desert and its brought to you on individual plates so everyone at the table can have a taste. The food was just like down home cooking should be and I should know because my mom and grandma are masters. The food was seasoned and the flavor was what you get when the food is good. Thank you for keeping with the tradition and quality of "down home cooking" . The drinks were bananas!!

Tonja Black

Breakfast with all the bacon you can eat!! Yummy. Love the bacon without the sugar on it, I think it is applewood. Pancakes are good. Order the chicken and biscuits and ask for some strawberry jam for the biscuits. Not on the menu but the jam is amazing!!! Buy some gooey butter cake in the gift shop, it is delicious.

angelakrupp07

This is a close 5 star! We enjoyed so much food and had a great time. I wasn't impressed with the roast beef, but everyone else was! The creamy potatoes are more like smashed potatoes, but are very good! The spare ribs were out of this world good! The fried chicken is a must have along with the Mac and cheese! The desserts are sooooo good!! I would go back just to have them again! We also enjoyed the biscuits and wish we would have asked for more. The biggest downside to this, which is understandable, is that you can't take anything home. The service was great though. They stayed on top of refills for the food and drinks. Everyone was super friendly and gave it the southern feel I was hoping for! We will be back again, it was worth the cost!

Clean Free Carpet Cleaning

They are getting a 4 Star. Because they stop serving breakfast at 10:30 am. Most places like Cracker Barrel, or other breakfast chain stores and restaurants have breakfast till at least 11 a.m. . Sometimes Y'all day.. Therefore if she's a true Southern woman she would recognize and understand that breakfast should be served till at least 12 p.m. everyday. Also this is mostly like an upscale Cracker Barrel..

michele One L

Love it. Second time there and it is still great. Love the style of bringing the food out to your table to keep all kinds of people touching the food. They had ran out of greens, so i was little disappointed, only negative thing was the broccoli dish was Not a winner. I will definitely go back when in the area.

Clarissa Tonnous

This was one the best Home Cooking meals I've had in a restaurant. We had Fried Chicken, Meatloaf, corn casserole, collard greens, poppy seeds tossed salad, fresh candied yams, banana pudding and peach cobbler. The staff all or very nice and polite. Excellent meal and definitely would recommend.

Jennifer Galloway

Great food keeps coming. Great peach tea. Down side no take home box for left overs. So much food gets wasted. Other wise we loved it.

Brandy Fields

The best food EVER!! So delicious! Our family enjoyed the restaurant and store while on vacation! We had to go back a second time before we headed home! It is kind of pricey but we all felt all the food was worth the money! My kids loved that they could take their dessert home with them in a little bag since everyone was so full from eating all the delicious food!

Justin Kim

If you want a mouth full of salt, the beach is only a mile away. It's a shame. The food actually would've tasted good if it wasn't so salty. But it just was not edible. And it's not just me; everyone at my table agreed on how salty everything was. Beware of the cheese biscuits! They are good, but they made us full by the time our entrees arrived.

Loreen Gregory

Love this place so much! The gift shop is amazing

emerlylc

Our server, Colton was a sweetie. The food was good, but literally the best biscuits that I have ever had!

Lisa Trenary

OMG- so awesome!! You have to go for breakfast and dinner. The food is amazing! It's served family style and the staff is wonderful. Be sure to get a cook book and try the recipes at home too!

Daniel Stadnik

Great food at a very fair price, considering that it is "all you can eat" and it is located in a major tourist destination. Our wait staff were wonderful ladies, and we had no significant wait for a table or for our food. Expect to pay about $20 per person and your family will pick 2 or 3 entrees (such as fried chicken, catfish, and pot roast) and 4 sides (such as whipped potatoes, mac & cheese, and corn). Simple homestyle cooking prepared well and delivered with a smile!

Jarred Cahan

We stopped here for lunch and it was decent and for all you can eat well worth the price. The butter cakes (both chocolate and vanilla) were delicious as was the sweet tea and the servers were very quick and exceptionally kind. The food was good but not good enough for us to go out of our way to return. If you're just stopping by Broadway on the Beach don't waste a meal here but if your sticking around for a few days definitely stop here for lunch or dinner.

LaSheka Robin

This restaurant did not the expectations that I thought it would in terms of the quality of the food. A few of our food items came out cold and it was not as appetizing. I can however give them credit for the customer service. As soon as we notified our waiter, a new fresh entry was brought out to us, and he also checked on us and refilled our drinks timely. That made the experience a little better. There appetizer biscuits were amazing, but they can definitely make sure that every item comes out fresh at all times.

Tammy Huggins

Our meal consisted of meatloaf (so hard you could barely cut), fried chicken ( fried hard), chicken and dumplings (so salty!!), green beans (good!), mashed potatoes (ugh...), tossed salad(dressing had it completely wilted) and black eyed peas (looked like chili, but tasted good). Service was slow, coffee was lukewarm. Pretty much a disappointment all around. First and last time I’ll come here.

Patrick Bischof

Meals are served family style. You party picks either 2 or 3 meats and 4 sides all of which is "all you can eat". Each person in the party gets to pick one dessert and that is not all you can eat. We had fried chicken, catfish and pot roast. The chicken was mediocre, the catfish was good and the pot roast was very good. The sides were okay but I've had much better at equaly or higher rated restaurants. The service was very good, our waiter was constantly checking to see if we needed more food or our drinks refreshed. No sign of Paula Dean other than a cardboard cutout.

Joyce McIntyre

The food wasn't what we were expecting here. I make Paula's corn casserole a lot, & it wasn't like hers here at all. Greens were too spicey, & when seconds were brought, it wasn't an equal amount as the first time. It wasn't enough for 6, which is what we had in our party. Was not impressed.

Rodney Meadows

Good but pricey. Breakfast is the best deal. The collards were way too salty. Waitress said thats how they came. Didn't offer another side.
