I'd love to post about their delicious meals but they do seasonal menus and it may be gone! But if you see lamb shank, or butternut squash gnocchi, or bacon wrapped scallops....Order two of each. Aside from specifics, this is a great place. Great food, great cocktails, intimate seating, and again food is amazing. Go often!

Great comfort food made from scratch which is so hard to find these days. I had the shrimp and grits made with local stone ground grits and they were fabulous! We tried the new banana pudding dessert the server had suggested. It was a little different twist on the traditional but had alot of flavor and the pudding was actual pudding not instant from a box.

First time here. The food was delicious. I had the PLT with Fried Green Beans. My husband had the Local Dish Burger and Fries. Our server was very nice. I liked everything about the style of the place too. We got there about 8:15 and were seated right away. The place was crowded so it was a little loud in there. It takes a while to get your food which is fine. You have time to visit a bit. As soon as we left I called someone to highly recommend the place.

What a great little find tucked away in downtown Fort Mill. There was a 30 min wait on a Saturday during a festival, which wasnt bad at all. We will definitely go back.

Today, 2/1/19 I found a nasty, wet brown paper towel in my salad. The nasty, brown wet paper towel was in between the salad. I ate some of the salad and went for a second helping and on my fork was a large nasty, brown wet paper towel. The manager offered me more food and I declined. I will never eat at the Local Diah Restaurant in Fort Mill, SC and that was my first and last time visiting that place. Nor will I ever recommend that place for food. They have a poor health rating from my perspective.

We had lunch there today and it was delicious. The shrimp and grits, shrimp pasta and pan seared scallops were all beautiful dishes. The chicken and waffles dish was huge! Don't leave there without trying the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. Kerry was a very friendly and efficient server. We'll be back!

We have been going to Local Dish for years, and have never, in our numerous trips, ever been let down by the food or the service. Adam, behind the bar, is an absolute rock star! His drinks are delicious and not to be missed. By far the best dish on the menu is the Chicken Pot Pie. I know - Pot Pie? Really? But yes! It is hands down the best thing I've ever eaten! Be sure to get there early enough to try it, as they do sell out on a busy Friday or Saturday night. Thank you to everyone at Local Dish, both front and back of house, for always giving us an exceptional meal!

We got in @ 5pm when the restaurant opened on Saturday. there was a line befor opening. we had the humus to start, it was outstanding. Even my wife who is meat and potatos liked it. Meatloaf was overe the top. Please go. I'd suggest after the 5pm rush 6.30 there was little wait if any.

With all of the new restaurants popping up in Fort Mill, we've still yet to find a restaurant that's better than Local Dish. Here's why we love it so much: Food - 5 Stars The food is consistently great. This is a Southern Comfort style of food - farm to fork, always tasty with generous portions that always leave you full. If you're a vegetarian, you will be a little limited on options, so know that this is a meat-friendly, hearty style dining experience. Our favorites that never fail us are the Shrimp and Grits, Steak, Salmon, wedge salad (some veg options), and the chicken wings. OHHH, those chicken wings. None better. NONE! This isn't just comfort food - it's delicious. People - 5 Stars Jon, Adam, Sarah, Paige, Kyle - we know these people by name. Low turnover at this restaurant, so we've gotten to know them as people. Everyone is super friendly and they all wish to please. We LOVE coming here because of the total experience - great food, great location, great people - the trifecta! Location - 5 Stars The restaurant is located on Main Street in downtown Fort Mill and is the perfect setting for this kind of restaurant. It gets loud in this space, but honestly, that's what we like about it - there's an energy in the place. People from town coming together with their families, friends or significant others and talking. It's a happy sound of people dining together, eating good food, laughing and having a good time. What some people view as a negative is a total positive to me. I love the Local Dish and will continue to be a regular here!

Wow! 5+ stars. Great atmosphere and terrific food. The menu and choices are small enough that you can make a decision, yet you can’t because it all looks good. We will be coming back many times over. Another update. This time we went for dinner! We went easy because there’s usually a line out the door. We sat with no wait, but noticed the place was a bit stuffy / hot (it was 93 degrees outside), but still fans were running. The appetizer came out beautifully - we had ordered the Pork Belly. For dinner we ordered the Scallops and I had the Shrimp Pasta. Both were terrific. The shrimp pasta is a bit on the spicy side since the sauce is cooked with Chili peppers. But the flavors of the artichoke and the linguini pasta (al dente) is by far one of the best. My wife’s risotto (which comes with the scallops) was also one is the best around this area. This places continues to be on my top 10 favorite restaurants in the Greater Charlotte area.

Rude, Unfriendly, A Very Diciplined Atmosphere. Customer Service Lacking. 6 diners 3 of which were kids 3 adults split apart because staff would not put two tables together there were 3 4 tops empty. Waitress very rude. Why pay for agravation? Dine where you are appreciated.

Food was good, service was terrible. Either the server lost our order or the kitchen did. I understand that different meals may be prepped in different parts of the kitchen. We saw many tables get the same things we ordered when they had ordered after us. Many of those same people finished their meals and left before we even received our meals. After almost 50 minutes of waiting for our meal, my husband asked for our bill. The server charged us for our drinks and meals. And then our meals magically appeared as we were about to get up and dispute the charge for everything.Very disappointed, we will not be back.

This is not an establishment for colored. They might as well have a sign on the door saying NO COLORED ALLOWED! So, me and a coworker decide to go to Local Dish for lunch; well NEVER again. We sat at the bar; we both order the Smoke Turkey sandwich with fried green beans. When I tell you at least four Caucasian people came in sat at the bar; ordered and received their food before us. One even ordered the flat iron steak. I was vexed; we had been sitting there for at least 45 minutes by the time our food came out; our lunch was over and we had to take it to go. The waiter knew it was wrong and discounted our order once I told him we will be taking it to go; as you can see from the photo below. I will NEVER be visited this place again. They are racist and it shows. Which is ridiculous in this day and age.

This is a comfortable place to have a calm meal with a friend or your significant other. Dishes have a lot of attention to detail and are served at their right point for the flavour to explode in your mouth. Good variety of beer and great service.

Great lunch, there were 5 of us and it was 5 for 5. 3 toasted pimento cheese with bacon and tomato on sourdough bread, 1 hamburger deluxe and one veggie sandwich, all were great. Sides were good and generous. Iced tea soda and water flowed freely. We often drive past on Main Street in Fort Mill, SC on our way to or from Florida to North Carolina but never stop. Made the best choice today.

Absolutely wonderful. This is a small place in downtown Fort Mill with limited seating, but a great home grown country type atmosphere. The food is amazing! We got fried green bean appetizer, chicken and waffles, fish po boy (local catfish), and donut bread pudding; all deserving of 5 stars. A decent sized bar is inside also serving wine, liquor, and beer. Definitely check this place out.

We are regulars at local dish. But tonight at our favorite little spot in Ft Mill was a disappointment.Took an out of town friend at 5:30 before the crowd was to thick our waitress was not one we were used to seeing and she clearly needed more training.She forgot drinks consistantly and sauce requested.When she checked up on our chowder to ask how it was we told her. It lacked clams and was sub par for local dish.She just walked away,.Interesting approach to customer service. Dinner dishes were a little disappointing tonight..Had 2 shrimp pastas substitute scallops. Dish is served with linguine artichokes a tomato in a light tomato sauce.Scallops were beautifully done but there wasn't an artichoke to be had.The level of inconsistency was a true disappointment and I missed our experienced servers who really understand food service. Maybe save your money or hit 131 Main, your gonna spend about the same and you wont have to train the staff while paying them.

I brought a friend from out of town to Local d Dish for lunch today. We talked about several options, but Local Dish is one of my favorites, and I wanted her to experience the food. She couldn't say enough positive about it. She got a hamburger, which was huge and had pimento cheese on top, which she loved. She also got the fried green beans, and said she had never had anything like them before. They really were delicious! I got the pimento cheese sandwich and a cup of the creamy tomato basil soup. Yum! They took something very ordinary and made it delectable! I ordered the crispy spinach, which is my favorite thing at Local Dish. I can't eat a lot of it, but I sure enjoyed what I had. My friend tried it also, and couldn't believe how delicious it was. We had great service, and it was definitely a five star experience. The only negative - there was a funky smell from the back entrance and into the restaurant. Not sure what it was, but it was off-putting.

Google business said it was open until 10pm. I arrived at 9:10pm with my two toddlers for dinner after carowinds. The manager told me they were closed. He was apologetic and mentioned that he told his boss to change the hours. It doesnt change the fact that it ruined dinner plans and wasted time. I have eaten here in the past and it was delicious. Turning my 5 star review to 1 star.

The "Local Dish" burger was excellent. The patty was nicely seasoned and the kitchen staff achieved a delectable crust on the outside of the patty; it was grilled on a grill, not on a flat top, and the difference can be experienced in the flavor and texture of the burger. The house made fries were good as well. The only complaint I have is that I had a hard time tasting the pimento cheese unless I tasted it apart from the burger, however to be fair, this burger has a lot of flavor going on at once.

Our server was fantastic...I cannot emphasize that enough! The tall bartender with the beard and short brown hair ruined my experience. I asked to add a fried green tomato to my burger with full expectation that it would be an extra charge. He told our server that I could not do that. Seriously!?! I would have paid $20 to add a fried green tomato to my burger! Who says no to a guest!?! Our server noticed I was upset and I assured her it was not her fault because she was awesome...we tipped her 25%. Homeboy behind the bar ran the food out to us, and didn't even offer a more detailed explanation or apology. He could have even lied to me and said that they didn't have enough fried green tomatoes prepped, but nope...nothing. It's sad because he was clearly also the manager on duty. With that kind of poor management this place is doomed!

Nice local restaurant! I had the Seared Scallops and they were excellent. Price was just a bit high at $26, but I was not disappointed. My friend had a salad with Shrimp added and was well pleased. We had wine and the pour was more than generous....good value! It is a small restaurant with NY Style seating and on a business night it was difficult to hear one another. All in all a good experience!!

Great food but go on a cool day (I'm not joking) ,,,,we tried going on a Saturday night at 730 ,,, thought the rush would be over ,,,,but wait was still 45 minutes,,,,food was worth waiting for ,,, thought staff would have accommodated more for people waiting though ,with water or complimentary tea but nothing was offered,,,it was at least 80 to 90 degrees inside if you weren't under a fan,,,,we didn't wait long for appetizer or drinks :) ,,,,had the corn appetizer as waitress recommended and it was awesome!! I tried the spinach salad with scallops on the side ,,,I love scallops but didn't want to pay $25 for 4 scallop entree,, $9 for 3 on side was a better deal :) spinach salad was great !! Scallops were awesome as well but if I didn't have left over sauces from corn I would have been disappointed,,,no butter or anything were on them,,,very dry,,,, service wasnt as good as I'm used to,,,,had to ask 2 times for my soft drink ,,,and for refills,,,,but overall food was great,,,,thanks !!

Sitting down you feel all the comforts of home, but the food is anything but ordinary. It was perfectly prepared, rich, and sooo good! We loved the sweet potato appetizer so much we ordered 2 of them. It was crowded on a Friday night but we enjoyed strolling around Fort Mill while waiting.. and this food was worth the wait!

Had the pork chop which was excellent! Great flavor. Got the veg of the day (broccolini) which was a little too salty. We also had the chicken and waffles which were tasty. Tea was good, normally I get sweet, but half and half was sweet enough for me. Shared a salad before the meal and it was plenty. Good sized portions. Lots of excellent menu choices and good service. Highly recommended!

Casual dining experience in beautiful downtown Fort Mill. The service and the food were excellent! The food was brought to our table quickly. Everyone loved their choices. The fried chicken and waffles were cooked perfectly. The chicken was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. The pulled pork nachos were seasoned perfectly and paired with a tasty pico de Gallo. The fried green beans did not disappoint either. The shrimp and grits was a perfect blend of creole and southern. This place is very small...so expect to wait regardless of when you go. HOWEVER, the food is excellent and the portions are good. The meatloaf, chicken pot pie and shrimp & grits are all delicious. The doughnut bread pudding is the stuff of dreams. I just wish it had more seating so you didn't have to wait as long!

Our Realtor took us here in the middle of a gorgeous October Saturday afternoon; no trouble grabbing a table for 4 immediately upon arrival - and even found street-side parking directly out front. John, Adam and Paige were fantastic to our party of three. The hummus was delicious and the platter was beautifully displayed. I had the shrimp and grits for lunch. Best choice I could have made. The grits were nice and creamy, no clumps. The shrimp were good sized and a very good amount was on the plate! I will be coming back!!

Was in here yesterday for my Dad’s birthday lunch and it was just incredible! From the moment we walked into the door we were greeted with smiles and friendly faces. We had an absolutely fabulous server, Micah! He was very personable and took the time to answer all the questions we had, as well as give recommendations on things! We did an appetizer of the friend green tomatoes, which were excellent, followed by two wonderful salads (spinach and beet with added chicken (which was mouth watering great), as well as a veggie sandwich. Everything was fresh, and delicious! We can’t wait to go back and tell all our family and friends about this place!

We really like this place, small, fair, and with a big punch on food. Service is always great, solid beer selection, could do better on wine. The food is where it hits, just simple with care. So far I've had the chicken noodle soup which had a thick concentration, the chicken and waffles, and a special of Bucatini with a pork cheek carbonara, all well done and fairly portioned I thought. Desserts are also not too be missed, the bread pudding is outstanding, as was the almost cake. There were only clean posts when we left.

There's a reason this place is #1 on most review sites. The food is fantastic! We heard about them in a casual conversation with the couple seated next to us at another restaurant in Fort Mill. "If you enjoy this, you have to check out the Local Dish" were the exact words. It's not unusual to see a line out the door so plan accordingly. As busy as they seem to be, the staff remain prompt, polite, and professional at all times. You can tell the owner cares about his customers and his staff and maintains a very pleasant environment. The greater Charlotte area is a typical stopping point for us on our way to Atlanta and the Local Dish has become our go to place for dinner when we get in to town. (it's worth the detour)

I was a bit unimpressed by the menu at first but I was surprised how good the food is. The fried green tomatoes are delicious. The Local Dish Burger is amazing. The pimento cheese on it is sooo good.

Service was good...small but cozy...menu was small but food was good. Had the nachos app and the pork belly app...both very tasty. Grilled shrimp po boy and the chicken and waffles were good...the salads were large and fresh. We enjoyed the food and the visit.

I have frequented the Local Dish since their inception and on most visits I have been delighted with their food and service. Tonight, was not good. Service was negligent. Had to ask for water, wave him down to take our order and to get our check. More disappointed in the food. I always get the scallops and have been delighted in the flavor and presentation. Tonight my scallops were cooked well but seasoned with peppercorns that gagged me looking for water only to find my water glass was empty. I expressed my disappointment with the owner, John. His response was "well if you had not eaten half of your meal I could help you out". I was not looking for a free meal, but recognition I was not happy with the service or meal. He could of apologized for the bad service and my discontent with my meal, but he did nothing. He blew me off. The presentation of my meal was poor. Scallops over mushroom risotto (only good thing on my plate) drizzled with some sort of red sauce around my plate and some sort of charred peppers on top of my meal. Really? Could not figure out how all these flavors complimented one another. Oh wait, it didn't. Never to return again. Time for the Dish to retire or find a new chef.

This is literally my favorite place to eat in the CLT area. They survive by word of mouth in this very small "downtown" restaurant. I can't rave about the food enough; from the shrimp and grits to the risotto and scallops to the fried green beans this place nails everything.

The food is absolutely amazing, rich, and flavorful. The shrimp and grits are creamy and the perfect amount of spicy from the sausage they include. The service is outstanding and they do not skimp on staff, even though the place is a little small. The staff are extremely attentive and knowledgeable of the food. The prices are spectacular for the quality of food you receive.

What a neat place to eat. Local food done well. The "fresh" tempura fried green beans are the best around, served with house made tartar sauce. Very friendly staff, just the right amount of attention. Between the service staff and the food runners we had a great experience.
