Been coming in to Kimchi for a while and I recommend them highly. Food: I've ordered 4 different dishes off the menu and everything has been good. The stews are all delivered to the table at about a thousand degrees F. Once it cools off enough to eat, the stews and many of the dishes are quite spicy (chili oil). The Bibimbap is one of the most mild dishes on the menu. Service: the ladies waiting tables are polite and helpful. You have to wave them down, because they let you eat in peace, but they are easy to get ahold of. Restaurant: The whole place reminds of a cafe that could be anywhere around the country. It's clean and organized. Overall: I recommend this location to anyone who likes authentic Korean food.

This place is not bad but it's not great. I've been there twice and both times it was on a Monday and it was because they were the only Korean restaurant open on a Monday. The first time I got spicy octopus which was really really chewy but had a great taste, this time I got a spicy seafood soup and they had no taste. The wait staff is very friendly but the food is marginal and they only bring you a very limited amount of side dishes.

A great little Korean joint! Wandered in looking for the next door Korean market, but was immediately attracted by the great smells of Korean food. Some nice kimbap to start, followed by my favorite, dolsot bibimbap with crispy rice and an egg, and my dinner was made! I want to go here all the time to eat

I adore this place. If they have it available, the pork belly for two is awesome. Grill at the table and make lettuce rolls. Good fun with good food. A friend in the military loves it because he says "it's like they picked up a restaurant in Seoul and dropped it in Columbia".

If you're new to Korean Cusine this place will be just fine for you. Very nice staff, food comes out quick. The main dishes are really good. My only problem is the aide dishes. Kimchi was regular cabbage and not fermented enough. The Kalbi was really good. It's a nice place to stay in p in and tryout.

Delish! If you are looking for excellent, authentic Korean food.... This is the place to visit! The lunch specials were great and there were even "box" options - which offer a little more variety then the specials. I had a tasty Kimchi Soup and we splurged and bought a "Korean Pancake." Sides were wonderful, as usual. Highly recommend making the trip!

I recently returned from living in Seoul, Korea and currently reside in Columbia, Sc. I figured that a Korean restaurant located in Columbia Sc couldn't nearly taste as authentic as in Seoul. Yep I was totally wrong. Food was excellent and also reasonably priced. I will frequent this establishment often.

This was our first visit and EVERYTHING was AMAZING!!! My husband and I had the goat stew, my son had spicy pork, and my daughter had tofu soup. Everything was piping hot and the service was top notch!!! Our glasses never got below 1/2 full, but the waitress wasn't over bearing. We definitely will be back.

What we did receive was just ok. The waitress was trying to push us to order things we didn't want. Wanted a meal without the beef. How hard is it to just leave it off and get the rice with veggies only plus side veggies? We were told we could not order it that way. Plus we only received part of our meal. Why pay for something I didn't want to eat. Maybe it was a language barrier but I will not go back.

I have never publicly given a review before but the experience here was so bad that I have to let people know. I'm here in Columbia because my brother is graduating from Army basic training and I convinced my family to go get some Korean food after we drop him back on base for family day (three in my group of five had never had it before including my 5 year old niece). We go to Kimchi Korean at 7:30 pm on a Weds night (24Apr2019) and they turn us away at the door at first because they said that they don't have enough food for us. When I asked my group how many wanted to eat, it only ended up being two people total and the rest would just try from our plates. Even after telling the folks at the restaurant that we only need two servings of food, they still said that they didn't want to serve us (just told us to go) and didn't give a reason why. So maybe there was a just complete breakdown in communication (which to their credit, their English and my Korean is rough) so maybe they couldn't properly explain their reasoning but the context is not leaving me a charitable conclusion: we were turned away when there were 2 hours until they closed, plenty of seating available, 5 people of color turned away, while we're looking for another place to eat, someone walked in and was served fine....hmmmm. Well we ended up going down the street to Arirang and the experience was excellent (everybody got to eat and the three newbies to Korean food are now converts). But during our short time in Columbia, SC, getting turned away for no good reason at Kimchi Korean is definitely the low point (the restaraunt was this close to having folks in my family think that's how all Korean restaurants treat people different than them). I'll never be going back purely because I'm from out of town and looking at reviews I see that people of color have eaten there before so their telling us to leave may be for another reason, but let this review be a warning for those looking to avoid a place where they won't be turned away at the door without a reason (while other folks that come in afterwards get to eat) and as a warning to the restaraunt that they can't treat people like that without consequences.

I had to give them one star since Google didn't allow me to give them zero star. I am a very strict Hindu when it came to Food. I told nice lady taking orders that I dont eat any kind of meat specially BEEF for my strong religious beliefs. And Order Cheese Noodles Soup. Guess What?? My Soup Bowl totally had small pieces of meat most probably beef?? This is really bad for me and my hindu self. Please Go to Some other place if you're a strict hindu diet and don't eat any meat !! Highly NOT Recommend!!!

I love it! I go a lot to eat bulgogi and kimbap ( my personal favorites hah ) though all of it is great! They also have Korean styled iced coffee that is great to drink after a meal ( or at least I think so ) the restaurant is clean and all the ladies working there are very nice and polite. Excellent experience. I went to the predecessor to this place many years ago, and this was WAY better, probably the best Korean I've had in my limited experience. Tried a large variety of items with a group. . Loved the beef and spicy chicken bulgogis, the pancake, potatoes, and the dumpling appetizers (fried and especially steamed). Friends really enjoyed the curry ramen and bibimbap. Kimchi was less potent than I usually have, which I found I preferred. Sushi rolls with spam and beansprouts were fair. Slaw and macaroni salad were basically just like American version, perfectly fine but not what I was looking for. Good quick service, but no straws :-( . I'm looking forward to going back and trying more items.
