This Restaurant is classified in the category of Seafood restaurant.
The spicy rim on the bloody Mary was perfect brunch topper
Great place for brunch and the service was phenomenal. Food as well is top notch
Loved the food here! Some of the best seafood I have eaten lately. Delicious swordfish, barramundi, flounder, brussel sprouts, and a delicious dessert sampling. They have parking nearby in decks and on the street. They do have ♿ wheelchair accessible seating and a ramp at the entrance. Amazing cocktails, wine, and beer as well.
Loved it! My third visit to Charleston in five years. Wanted to bring my friend to Magnolia's, but fully booked! We reserved here just a few hours before we sat. No regrets! I completely enjoyed one of the most elegant shrimp + grits dishes ever! Delicious and reasonable wines, lovely service, polite and welcoming hosts. This restaurant is quite large and has the feel of a business night out. Not cozy or intimate- there are plenty of small cafes in Charleston to fill that need. This is a large, airy, high ceiling, T&E kind of affair. Enjoy!
Beautiful restaurant, great food and drinks. The general manager was around greeting and talking to guests, and the staff was extremely personable and knowledgeable.
+ nice setting + The server Williams was amazing. The recommendations were solid and he was very accommodating + amazing main course and side + Really good drinks - appetizer and desert was mediocre, however the main course weights up for it
Stuffed lobster was disappointing. It looked impressive but just not very tasty or satisfying. Fried oysters okay but really nothing special. Scallop crudo no thank you. Overall slow service, just not what you want for $100 plus per person before tip.
Fron the Brunch Menu: 1) Crab Cakes Benedict 2) Fried Chicken Biscuit Both absolutely delicious. The portions were too dense and flavorful (also pretty big) to finish. We loved every bite. We had Brunch for three on a Saturday, around 1pm and surprisingly, they weren't too busy. We ordered oysters and mimosas to start. Service was fantastic.
Best restaurant in Charelston in our opinion. We drive 5 hours 2x a year for this place. Thanks for making it special for my bday.
The food is amazing. Favorite brunch in Charleston. Their pastries and walnut bread are to die for. great service
Spectacular restaurant; amazing food; top-notch service. We celebrated our 27th Anniversary & they all made us feel so special. Truly wonderful experience.
Excellent happy hour! $5 house wine and a good bar menu. Good people from all over gather at a newly improved bar area.
Great food, atmosphere, and service!
A high end experience in the heart of downtown. Commands very high end prices as well. Food was very good, presented well, and service was top notch
We loved the food here. The chicken biscuit and gravy was huge, but so delicious. My husband has been talking about the shrimp & grits for over a year now. If we are ever back in Charleston, we will definitely be back.
The Best Downtown Charleston has to offer. Don't forget to say hi to the Best Bartender and Chef Rachel Peery
Over-priced for quality of food. Good service.
Excellent menu with locally sourced food was the highlight of this Charleston restaurant! We walked there from our hotel, and we passed through the city market on our way there. They had menu options for vegetarians as well, which were delicious! When I come back to Charleston again, I will definitely be eating at High Cotton!
We ate here on a recommendation from a local. The food was great! However, he forgot to mention that it is upscale dress, and pricey. We felt so out of place the whole time but we just laughed about it after. No wonder they call it "High Cotton".
Upscale place with a great menu. Nothing here is cheap but it's worth the expense. Loved the food.
My wife and I had a great experience at High Cotton. The manager was really friendly and welcomed out party into the restaurant. The waitress was helpful in stepping us through the menu. The food was fantastic ( I had the shrimp and grits). Our entire party raved about their main courses. I would not hesitate to go back again.
We were headed to Fleet Landing restaurant in Charleston but our party of 16 was turned away. So we found this gem!! They accommodated us right away and we were so thankful we found this place. The service was beyond excellent and the food was delicious!! Our server Bishop was the best. He was very helpful with the menu. And provided excellent service.
One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. Nothing is out of place, not to mention that the food is fantastic
Wonderful. Great food, service and atmosphere.
Excellent food, service, and ambiance! Their menu has a good variety of seafood and other dishes and didn’t feel one note at all. Our service was quick and we were well attended to during our entire meal. They were busy but nobody rushed us at all. We had the pecan crusted flounder and shrimp and grits with malted fries. All was delicious. Do know that their entrees do not come with sides. Those are purchased separately but are large enough for sharing. We found our meals to be super filling and we couldn’t finish the side of fries! Reservations are needed but many of the restaurants in the area all use the same system (Resy) so that made it super easy!
Celebrated our anniversary here and it did not dissapoint. Everything was first class food, service, and atmosphere. Absolutely recommend for a special night out.
Amazing brunch! Very attentive staff and a very classy vibe. The food and bloody marys were ridiculously good. Will definitely be back.
Best steak EVER, and service was 5 stars! I love the Holy City, and this will be one of my "haunts"... don't miss it..oh, try the mushrooms with ur steak along with glass of Villa Palestra moscato!!
We celebrated Fathers Day with our 99 year old dad. Service was great in spite of the large crowd. Food was very good. Only suggestion would be option for smaller portions for the elderly.
This restaurant has great food & excellent service. The staff went above & beyond to make this anniversary dinner very special.. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening & it will remain in our memory for a very long time. I highly recommend you give this place a try.
Created a light and refreshing cocktail on the spot. Served up an amazing Burrata Salad.
Great cuisine, good wine list. Nice venue.
My husband and I always return to High Cotton since we had our first “Honeymoon Dinner “ there. It was delicious then and continues to be each year we return! Highly recommend to anyone!
WITHIN MY TOP 10 IN 52 YRS! First time in Charleston, got off highway from hotel in N.Charleston, slowly drove by MANY of the eateries, however my friend & I both turned to each other w/wide eyes as we passed High Cotton and within a few yards a paid parking lot (Under $10) conveniently appeared! Upon entering... The essence of fresh, exotic food mixed w/high end parfums left to atomize from those lucky enough to reside in the surrounding colonial mansions or visiting the finest B&Bs the Olde South has to offer filled the air. Visually, the rooms glowed deep and dark, the intimate lighting that comes from blackened lamp shades lined with real gold leaf. Intricately placed art covered the walls from embossed copper to one of my favorite works, "The Singing Butler", perfectly placed behind the live southern speakeasy saxophonist in the lounge which is where we found ourselves since the other rooms were at capacity. Once seated we started w/a great craft beer that was surprisingly clean and left a tinge of floral. We had the choice to order from both main menus and bar menu, which shared some offerings and both had the Bone In Filet Mignon ($18 !.. The best deal in any town) W/ puried potatoes, drizzled with a Burgundy Reduction and topped with Onion Straws. Was some of the best and most tender cut of beef I've had. For a starter I chose the Colossal Shrimp Cocktail. (4 or 5 of the largest I have ever seen offered and was cooked the way prawns are meant to be cooked. $18). My companion had the Caviar Deviled Eggs (Amazing, Unique and personally know was served on many of the White Star Line ships in first class, including the Titanic $22). Jeremy (?) our bartender was great & didn't realize he handled the bottles in the tradition perfected by The Savoy Hotel in London and creator of The Original Ritz Paris. My only critiques are... The wish that Jeremy could converse more w/the customers instead of having to bartend for servers as well (It would be nice for a venue this large to have a separate service bar) Also, the bar itself is beautiful but is visually polluted with the placement of #1) The two TV screens which would fit better in the corner of the bar, left and right, placing them directly to the fine wood takes away from the richness, plus are too close to each other. #2) The large Espresso machine and all its hard/dish-ware is too utilitarian for being placed on the bar where people face. #3) The servers POS screens should also be placed to the right of the bar in the corner, again, too utilitarian and close to patrons, especially the bright lights and the inner narrative "drama" we overheard between the managers and servers. Other than those few things, this place is deserving of Michelin or James Beard caliber. (But then again, it was just one night). So far, in 52 yrs, it's among my favs* like, The Mews (P-Town), La-Te-Da Key West (Fla Keys), Louis' Backyard (Key West), The Cartwheel (New Hope-Bucks County), Lux (Beverly Hills), Bridge St. Bistro (Charleston, WV), Road House (Hyannisport - Cape Cod), JJ Stars (NYC), Jimmy January's (Ft. Lauderdale) *Sadly, these may have closed or experienced when under different mgt/owner and may not be current, so don't expect same experience.
Had dinner and then brunch the next day. Everything is excellent from the service to the food. Will definitely be back again.
Absolutely perfect in every way..thank you for a lovely anniversary lunch today
Went to a Birthday Party here. The food and service was top notch!! Highly recommended!!
Incredible. Just got back from my niece's wedding rehearsal dinner. This place is amazing. From our private dining room to the fabulous wait staff to the spurn dinner - it was the perfect place for two families to celebrate joining together. Charleston and High cotton, I don't want to leave!
My son, and now daughter-in-law held their rehearsal dinner at High Cotton; this was an amazing experience. Keith Neighbors, event planner, worked with me for almost a year (with patience and kindness). The night of our dinner was simply amazing. Heather and Seth were our service staff (and an excellent bar tender as well)-they, too, were above and beyond our expectations. High Cotton establishment was a magical experience for our friends and family! The food was perfectly prepared for each of our guests, served with proper timing, and with Southern hospitality...
Absolutely love this place! Music is always fun. The food is amazing. Jordan best bartender/hosted ever! All the crew is very polite. Warm and relaxing atmosphere.
What can I say. The food was the best I have ever had. They treat the patrons as if we are royalty. The part that really got us. We got back home a few days later we received a thank you card handwritten thanking us.
Great place! Went here after a recommendation from a friend of mine who has this place as to go place when he's in Charleston. It is a bit upscale, they won't prevent you from go inside and enjoy a great meal, but if you care and want to dress accordingly now you know. They offered us some cinnamon-zucchini bread with some whipped butter on side when we sit and after that we were sold. Shrimp and Grits are awesome and with a pleasant touch of heat from the andouille sausage. Personally I got the crab cake egg Benedict, and they were very good and very filling. The waiters are super nice and the service overall makes you feel super comfortable. Super recommended!
Amazing food and service from our hostess Heather.... we loved her, engaging, funny and professional x
Tried this restaurant during restaurant week; I received good service but the mashed potatoes were extremely salty and the replacement baked potato was cold.
Wonderful place. Exquisite food, generous portions, artistically presented and attentive service. The price for ambiance and food quality and service is worth every bite!
Ehh... not going to go into every little detail but I've never had lobster I didnt like until I came here. Spent over 250 for two people and wasnt satisfied or full!! DONT ORDER THE SEAFOOD TOWER. it was a ripoff. Other than that the atmosphere and ambiance were beautiful and service was pretty good. Just wasnt happy with the quality of the meal.
Great Jazz & Food If your looking for good jazz and food you can’t go wrong here. The bar food is reasonably priced and jazz is very good. We heard James Slater and his trio and enjoyed calamari along with other treats. We’ll be back.
Excellent restaurant with somewhat of a classy old south atmosphere. The servers and wait staff are very professional both in their demeanor and in their attire. Very clean and well groomed which only adds to the atmosphere of this fine restaurant. Now on to the menu selection and entree's. The menu leans more toward seafood although there are substantial offerings in the beef dept. I can personally attest to the fantastic crab cocktail which is loaded with large chunks of crab...almost a mean in itself. The shrimp cocktail is loaded with large size shrimp and a tangy cocktail sauce. The pecan crusted flounder is outstanding and the crab cakes are loaded with crab and very little filling. One might want to try the fried brussel sprouts. They are quite tasty...and not anything similar to the normal steamedk sprouts. Overall a very nice restaurant with great tasting and nicely presented offerings.
Amazing food and awesome service. A must for anyone looking for great dining
Favorite meal my wife had in the area. We had the halibut and chicken (I know... I just had fish the night before) broccoli and a baked potato on the side. Food was excellent. Service was also above par. It was a little too much food. My wife has a dairy allergy, all the accommodations were easily made. We would go back in a heartbeat.
Upscale and formal, classic Charleston. Although the setting was formal, the staff was friendly, attentive and fast. Enjoyed conversing in French with our primary waiter who happened to be from Lyon. Still and again, all the staff that attended to us and all with whom we interacted were very pleasant. I would guess that their HR or recruitment team uses a hiring for attitude methodology. In addition to the terrific service the food was wonderful. The aged sirloin in particular, was almost as good as I've experienced anywhere in the country.
Great atmosphere and excellent food. I'd only warn that the portions are huge - and you'll want to start with (sharing) one of their pastries - so order conservatively or better yet share!
Very nice place, excellent food, service and the bar tender was outstanding. Highly recommended.
Don't ever wonder with the consistency of the food here. It was even better the second time around! Great seasonal dishes matching the fresh catches as well as a very palatable dessert menu. Amazing fine dining experience!
Omg... The meal and the wait staff was awesome...
The food was so good and plentiful. The burrata salad had a large and fresh tomato slice on the bottom with arugula and topped with onion rings. The burrata was really fresh in home made pesto, drizzled with balsamic. The shrimp and grits were to die for. The grits were creamy with the andouille sauce. The okra was cooked well with perfectly Cajun seasoned shrimp. Also pictures is the halibut which was cooked well. We had crispy Brussels sprouts and creamy Parmesan risotto as sides to share. We were too full to try dessert!
Came here during our honeymoon - they made small little ways to make our night even more special - seat by the window and flowers and note and free dessert. The food was some of the best we ever had, and the service impeccable. Definitely recommend! Pic shows the view from our table!
Attended a birthday dinner party and the staff was wonderful and very attentive to our needs. The food was delicious! The filet mignon was perfectly cooked to perfection.
Just wow. I don’t easily give out five stars but well deserved. High Cotton accommodated our party of 13 seamlessly. The service was impeccable, the food outstanding, and ambiance on par. In a city known for its food, this is tops. Favorites: Raw oysters, King Crab claw appetizer, Brussels Sprouts, Mushroom and Fry sides, She Crab Soup, Crab Cakes. I didn’t personally try the steak (we were on the coast!) but a fellow diner closed his eyes and noted it was the best steak in his 25 years of life.
This place had amazing service and great food. They have a large variety of food so if you cant find something to eat try the shrimp and grits. It is so good.
A truly southern restaurant with a great happy hour...nice atmosphere, good music and great service.
Outstanding Service and amazingly delectable cuisine!! Highly recommended- you will not be disappointed! We dined there on 8/2/18.
Exceptional service, excellent food.all of my guests and I were deleted by the quality of each of our meals. Not only was the wine special, but the wine steward was both helpful, friendly and polite. In fact all of the staff was friendly, prompt and helpful. I like to fly to Charleston just to eat there.
Great service. Good food. Generous portions. But take your credit card. They're at the top of the market here.
Great food and even better service! Amazing private dining experience.
High Cotton was excellent! From the food, to the service to the manager, everything was amazing!
Loved this place from the minute I walked in. The decor was what you would expect from the name. I sat at the bar where Jordan mixed the most wonderful Mint Julip. I ate delicious Shrimp and Grits, sipped on the Mint Julip, all while listening to the jazz trio playing behind me. Thinking about going back for dinner.
Yummmmmmy. Amazing!! Thank you!! I will be back.
Charleston staple delivering a high quality menu. Shrimp and grits and pimento cheese were definitely stars. The menu doesn't disappoint.
A top destination for southern fine dining. You’ll want to leave the shorts and T-shirt at home and put on some slacks and a jacket or that cocktail dress, and you’ll be treated to impeccably prepared food in a pleasingly upscale atmosphere and some live jazz if you go at the right times. This is just as suitable for a date, a private wedding reception, or a business dinner to impress.
Absolutely a must for a special night out! Food and staff were amazing, thank you!
Great happy hour drink specials. Outstanding truffle French fries. They also had a nice two piece jazz band playing at 4 pm on a Friday, at a perfect sound level.
Great food, great bartender! The place is beautiful!
Buttermilk fried oysters were good and there french toast. Friendly staff, good background music, and semi casual
We lucked out and were visiting during restaurant week. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the service was top notch. Definitely would recommend if you are looking for a nice evening.
This is for the no-reservations seating area near the bar: we were seated next to the musician so we could barely hear each other. The eggs Benedict we ordered was beyond sad, there was no presentation at all. It was just a piece of bread and an egg with barely any hollandaise sauce and absolutely 0 presentation - it looked like something a 3 year old made. The chicken biscuit was big and the husband loved it.
If you want to have a fine dining experience, this is it! Great food and service!
This place is AMAZING! Incredible service as well our waiter Rob, came by to check on us and refill our water before we could even ask! Excellent recommendations that held true to how good the food was.
Wonderful brunch spot.
The ABSOLUTE BEST Food and Service we've EVER had anywhere!!
Very good food, atmosphere and service. Really loved it from entrance to exit.
High dining at it's best, try the risotto. Bourbon and scotch actualy priced well and the staff is super accommodating.
Food was amazing. Great service! Upscale, but still fun! Highly recommend getting the pastries to share!
This was a beautiful restaurant. They had a jazz band, and our waitress was really nice and conversational. It was a great place for a rehearsal dinner.
Fantastic meal, great service!
Strange occurrences, odd feelings, searched for history of building with no success, possibly suppressed? Warm friendly atmosphere, well run business. Paranormal activity has nothing to do with business in my opinion.
The staff treated us like royalty as we celebrated our 33rd anniversary. The flounder was light and luscious and the swordfish had a lovely citrus marinade. Alesia was attentive without being overbearing. We enjoyed every minute!
Great food and service.
Pretty good. Brussels and shrimp/grits were great. Blackened fish was ok.
Probably one of our greatest meals at any restaurant
Very nice restaurant. Very good service and the food was excellent! Wonderful time.
Love this place. Great ambiance.
The service was fantastic, but the food was just ok. Octopus was overcooked and to much char on it. The fries were a little greasy and the crispy brussel sprouts were undercooked and hard.
Excellent service. Outstanding menu. Great place for any dinner. A place to up your game for an anniversary or a special date.
Absolutely amazing service and food. We came in on our honeymoon 12 years ago and again today for our 12th anniversary. Staff went over and above to make it special, champagne, a card, and decadent dessert thrown in on top of our ridiculously good meal. If you are in Charleston and considering fine dining, go to High Cotton. If you are in Charleston and want good food, go to High Cotton.
Best salmon I’ve ever had! Delightful dining experience. I was with a large group and they accommodated us effortlessly. Five stars!
So tasty, fried oysters we're amazing, swordfish was amazing, every was to die for.
Out server, Johnathan was very knowledgeable and very attentive. The steaks were fantastic. The coconut cream pie was excellant. The Jazz after dinner in the bar was very relaxing. It's a great place for dinner and entertainment.
The atmosphere was delightful. The food was delicious. Definitely a classy place.
Perfectly cooked cedar plank salmon with pears and orange blossom honey, asparagus and Rosé.
AMAZING. FAV DINNER SPOT IN CHARLESTON. WORTH THE WAIT
I love High Cotton! As a full time professional photographer in Charleston, I get to photograph special occasions in tons of great venues. I love covering small wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, or corporate events here. They have a nice private room in the back with access to a beautiful courtyard. The food is great. And the service is fantastic!!!
Wonderful ambiance with fantastic, thorough and prompt service. Food was delicious and really enjoyed the variety of sides! Wish we would have had more time to listen to the live jazz but definitely would come back!
Overall, the food was good and the service was okay. We came on a slower night and the waitress was pushy to upscale us on everything. I don’t drink but had asked for a soda water with cucumber and mint. She proceeded to say “oh a mock tail” and then charged me $12 dollars for a soda water with flavor. Probably won’t return to this touristy restaurant.
Terrible food. $50-something ribeye tasted like a $5 sirloin from Walmart. Everyone's orders were either wrong or sub par. Go to Magnolia's. They're worth the cost.
Good food large portions excellent service
The food and service is spectacular. One of the places one must eat at during your visit at Charleston. Very professional staff. Love Love the food. Will come back
One of the best meals of my life. With five of us in the party we all sampled one another's meal and they were all fabulous. The side dishes were just as delicious as the main courses. The entire staff made the experience that much better. I would recommend High Cotton to anyone!
Everything was fabulous. I highly recommend High Cotton for a wonderful evening and wonderful food. We were celebrating a birthday they generously comped us champagne and a dessert souffle. Can't wait to return
Awesome! Brunch was great, atmosphere great and Heather was great!
High cotton was a fabulous dining experience. Very professional and friendly service, live jazz music and excellent food. I ordered the eggs Benedict which was perfect. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits was delicious the best I've tasted here. My favorite part of this restaurant was the zucchini bread they give you before your meal, sooo good. We went for brunch and had a great time. Beautiful atmosphere as well.
First Time eating here Service, Atmosphere and Waiters were Excellent. Managers came around to ask how food and service was... Highly recommend eating here and will be back to eat here again next time we Come from Columbia
This Place is a MUST!! My flight crew and I were working over the Holiday bringing families together while not being with ours. For obvious reason we were unable to make reservation at a restaurant prior. After being turned away by several restaurants that lined the street, because we did not have reservation, even though one was 80% empty, we made our way to High Cotton. This was the BEST decision we could have made. We were greeted with a warm smile by Kristen White at the door, and later found our way to a table. Not only was the food absolutely amazing, but the service and treatment by the waitstaff was outstanding. The live band and atmosphere was the perfect ending to a great day of working on Christmas Eve. I spent this day with total strangers and this had to be the best Christmas Eve of my adult years. Thank you to everyone at High Cotton!!!
The restaurant is beautiful. Drinks were lovely. The filet was delicious and cooked perfectly. Desserts were tasty. Unfortunately the fish entree was completely raw. When we pointed it out, they took it back and ? Microwaved it? The duck was supposed to be medium and was clearly med-rare or rare.
The epitome of Sourthern charm can be found at High Cotton. Nightly live jazz is pumped into every room, and though the menu is seemingly unchanging over the years, it is still delicious and classic for a reason. Weekend brunch is also lots of fun here, and a necessary stop for a bit of Charleston history.
We had brunch here on a Saturday. The restaurant has a cool vibe — the kind of Charleston vibe that you want to experience if you are visiting. Service was superior. I enjoyed the food. Pastries are definitely made in the house and were fantastic. Shrimp and grits were good but not great. Fried oyster appetizer was good but not exactly top-notch. Overall we left satisfied and happy.
A beautiful southern gem in Charleston. We had no idea where to eat when we stumbled upon High Cotton. Absolutely delighted with delicious food from soup to nuts , the best waiter Brett who went above and beyond and the gorgeous dining room . We visit Charleston every year on our road trip and this will be our yearly dining experience. The shrimp and grits is a must ! Enjoy !!!!
Luckily I've been able to dine at High Cotton for the past 15 years and it is an amazing experience. The food is extraordinary and consistent, the service is overwhelming. Every experience I've had at High Cotton has been excellent. Recently they added two stars to their management team, Robbie Crawford and Ryan Groeschel. These two gentleman are taking High Cotton to a new level of service. My wife and I look forward to returning to High Cotton very soon and it is a must visit if you have not dined with them!
We enjoyed our brunch and the restaurant has a great aesthetic! For those who are interested in taking part of the music portion of brunch, the band was set up in the bar area and if you are dining in the main room you cannot hear the music.
The inbone filet mignon at the bar is amazing.
The shrimp and grits are so creamy, they left me speechless. I have had shrimp and grits up and down the Southeast coast. High Cotton's chef- prepared cuisine is something to write home about. The omelettes reflect the careful attention of a well trained kitchen and wait staff. I have had no better service in any restaurant in New York or Boston. The only thing you could possibly complain about would be the wait staff's constant care for your complete satisfaction ensuring a never ending smile.
Delicious. Great atmosphere
Exceptional food, service and ambiance. Came for brunch. The pastries were good. The banana chocolate chip cookie cake was the best. Breakfast burger and farmers omelette were favorites of the entire table. Highly recommend and can't wait to return.
We tried it, after years of my parents raving about the food and ambiance. It did not disappoint! They had just rolled out the new menu and we all tried something different. The halibut just melted in my mouth and my husband enjoyed the crab cakes. High marks for the grouper and the salmon as well. Love the family style sides, which are great for splitting between 2 people. We even splurged on dessert and coffee which were also incredibly delicious. The attentive service and the warm, historical interior made for a great night. This spot is a Charleston gem, do yourself a favor and check it out!
The manager, waiter, music & happy hour are top notch! My bday celebration was so wonderful! Thank you HC for providing great care and service to our group. Best desserts too!
Ambiance and service were excellent. The food was prepared well but was not as good as I would have hoped. Sauces were lacking and overall I was not impressed with the creativity or pairings of garnishes. Sides also were disappointing. I would emphasize that my expectations were set high, so my disappointment is relative to what I hoped was going to be an impressive experience.
Excellent food!! We had our bridesmaids luncheon here and it was just perfect!
Great dining experience. The staff was excellent and so was the food.
Very good food and atmosphere.
My wife and I had such a good time! Jeremy, our waiter, was informative and courteous. He had all the knowledge we could have asked for on the menu and the source of their food. From the hostess to any staff walking the floor, everyone was so inviting and kind. The food was outstanding and we even got to sit at the table where the Notebook was shot! Needless to say, my wife was encouraged!
Great food and service
I do not know where to start. Amazing service, excellent food and great location. The best steak I had for a while. You feel the hospitality from the moment you enter this place. The server (Jonathan) was outstanding. The chef was phenomenal. Even the dip of the firs was special. This was a great stop in our trip to Charleston.
Espresso Martinis are amazing. Food is even better!
The lobster gnocchi was to die for! Make a reservation. High Cotton is worth the visit! Ask for a window seat if you can get it - it is great for watching the beautiful street around the restaurant.
I'm a steak person. Probably the best med rare, Black & Blue prepared steaks of all Wet aged Prime I've had . Fantastic deserts. Worse Baked potatoes ever but not something to stop a rating of *****. Been going there for over 30 years and will continue.
Although the menu features several delicious pastries - we got the crumb cake, which was quite good, though a too cloying for my tastes - they also offered us some zucchini walnut bread which was excellent (and just the right amount of sweetness for me). I had an omelet which was quite good, though the portion on the large side. Definitely worth considering if you like the menu. Our server was very friendly and helpful, though - great service.
Jonathan was excellent. He personalized the experience. He didn’t miss a beat. He kept an immaculate table...always anticipating the next move. Thanks
The tuna was prepared rare as ordered and looked fabulous on the plate. Served with Hawaiian romesco suace with crispy capers, the flavors were complimentary. Most importantly, the tuna was buttery in the mouth and delicious to the taste buds. While I do not eat shellfish (allergy), my fiend had the oysters and rated them sweet and tender.
Outstanding service and food. Anything the Hall family owns is the best.
I shared a dinner with my wife, two sons daughter-in-law and granddaughter this evening. Everything was spectacular from the Iced Tea to the wait-staff. Our appetizers (fried calamari and smoked trout) arrived quickly. We were all impressed. We have had calamari previously, but this beat all. The smoked trout was paired with various pickles and berries. Our main courses replaced our appetizers without bluster or fuss. My son and I had the Sea Scallops, my wife had Blackened Grouper, my other son had the Crab Cakes and our Daughter-in-law had Tuna. (Our granddaughter is only 4 months old.) Everyone was raving over their meal. Then came dessert! The Key Lime Crème Brûlée was out of this world. Exceptional evening. Thank you High Cotton.
Great experience. Came with a large group and the staff was very accommodating. I ordered the lobster gnocchi and substituted scallops for lobster with no difficulties. And my meal was fantastic. Great service!
Food was fantastic. Service was excellent. Venue had great colonial-era ambiance. Jazz band playing was fun.
Dined at High Cotton the first part of October. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. Merdith was our server she made every moment special. The food was fabulous with great portions for your money. I would highly recommend to anyone!!!
What a delicious way to get out of the sun and have some brunch while visiting sick a beautiful city. Our waiter, Brett I believe, was wonderful and was handsomely rewarded for his service.
Second time here and the food was exceptional as the first time.
This was an amazing experience, the service was definitely the best part of the experience. 11/10 would return here again.
We had our wedding dinner at High Cotton. Everything was well done. We had a great experience working with the coordinator to make our dinner special. The menu options for our private dinner had great options to select. The service was awesome! The servers and hosts were very helpful and professional. The food was phenomenal!! Guests couldn't stop talking about how delicious everything was. We will definitely be back!
There’s a lot of good food in Charleston, people know this. But the ambiance and service at High Cotton is unparalleled. Our server, Heather was phenomenal. She knew everyone’s names by the end of dinner. She made confident and excellent recommendations. Honestly, is she the owner? Can’t be sure. 11/10 would recommend to all of my friends.
Excellent service, food and attention. We went for a small birthday dinner and our waiter provided extra attention to the birthday guest, without being over the top. Well done!
Sunday Jazz brunch was incredible. Came to visit my Son and family in Charleston. 3rd trip there over the years . All Service , food , atmosphere perfect. Thanks to Manager and staff for accommodating my 8 month old Grand daughter. We had a Blast !
The waitress Jennifer quite possibly is the best service I have ever witnessed from a restaurant. Thank you so much for the hospitality!!!
Love this place I give this place a thumb up on everything
Fantastic restaurant. The atmosphere is great and the service exemplifies southern hospitality. Really fascinating menu option of blackened fish served atop watermelon. The sides on the menu really compliment the mains like the yukon gold mashed potatoes. The brussels had an interesting aoli topping.
Very good food. Very good service with attention to detail and dining pleasure. Nice atmosphere. Street parking with no Valet service. Dining at High Cotton is what I consider "fine" dining but the guests may not reflect the same qualities. Last time I dined there a party of 7 businessmen were dining and unfortunately, for everyone else trying to enjoy a quiet fine dining experience, we were blasted with their very loud story telling which included inappropriately foul language. Sorry High Cotton, not your fault, but it definitely disturbed my party and several other parties at other tables with whom we exchanged with.
High Cotton is on my short list for outstanding Charleston restaurants. The food, ambiance, location, service, and overall experience are top notch. Go there today and thank me later!
High Cotton is a wonderful dining experience. Every item on the menu is great and there is never a wrong choice. I also really like that atmosphere of the restaurant as it is fine dining, but also relaxed and laid back. I always enjoy every visit to High Cotton and know I will get a good meal every time. Awesome restaurant.
My family and I eat our Easter brunch at High Cotton every year, I love this place. Service is outstanding and the food is awesome. The bartenders make solid drinks and the restaurant itself is very cool.
Fantastic service!!! Steak was done to perfection, and all food was exceptionally delicious! Definitely will be returning!
