True champions of excellence food and superb service. Every dish served was so tasty! Especially the Mussels and the Delmonico steak! The portions are very generous and the In House prepared bread is delicious. The bread is not thawed and baked frozen dough from a distributor, it is really in house made, a real treat that is most often not part of a restaurant's repertoire. This is a place not to be missed, beautiful classic dishes with modern flavors. We will return every time we are in the area without question!

Quaint location, poor slow service. My daughter and I chose to have a light breakfast there on our way out of Kiawah. My daughter wanted the avacado toast dish that came with eggs, fruit etc. (14:00) she did not want all the other items. Just the avacado toast. So I asked our server if it was possible me to have just the toast. She responded they would do that. Considering bread /toast is an individual add on for 3$, I assumed the same. Received the bill and notes we were charged the full 14$ for 1 pice of toast with avocado. I spoke the the waiter who after the fact explains they don’t break up the breakfasts?!? Well maybe she should have mentioned that prior to the order Or offered me perhaps a side order of toast? But no, took it upon themselves to charge me the full amount. The manager came out and heard my plea, was unwilling to make any changes. Caution: ensure you are wanting everything becasue that’s what you will get charged for. 14$ for one piece of toast. In my opinion the culture is not customer focused as this could have been easily rectified. Cancel the avacado toast meal, add in an order of toast? But it’s near impossible for anyone working there to get that principle. We will certainly not be back. I had the hege breakfast 2 eggs over medium with crusty hard edges, but good on inside, 2 hardly edible burnt slices of bacon but the pimento cheese grits were very well done. Safe your time and money and try JAVA next door. Fast friendly service with coffee and an array of breakfast options. Shame on you Hege for your lack of apology or attempt to correct on obvious misunderstanding. I’m all about fairness and am more than happy to pay well for great service. This environment is only focused on their own ridgity and don’t cast Abojt overcharging you ,

Amazing Dinner, the she-crab soup is amazing, I have lived in Charleston all of my life and its the best I have ever had. For my main course I had the sea bass, again, amazing, cooked perfectly, seasoned just enough to add some sweet taste to it. Great staff, great food. The wife had the chicken cacciatore and loved it, my coworker had the bacon wrapped filet.. All were cooked perfectly, all were very happy with their meal. Can't wait to come back and eat again!

Delicious food with good options. Comfortable ambience. Good options for tables or nice bar area. Management and servers are great. We had a party of 16 and they handled it perfectly.

Every time we've been, the staff has been friendly, the food was delicious, and we left satisfied. Our only complaint was that there was a bit of an extended wait to sit at a table when the dining room was half empty, but the staff was busy at the time. They accommodated us with our toddler and had no problems with our messy kid!

Went for dinner and it was some of the most amazing food I've ever had...the cornbread was to dye for!!!! I had the snapper for dinner and it was prepared perfectly. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. Enjoyed the atmosphere so take your time :)

Food very good 4*. Service slower than our party preferred 3*. It took quite a while to get bread to table, and then for the apps, and entrees to come out. Once food arrived we enjoyed it. Everyone liked the cornbread in the bread basket. The shrimp & crab cocktail appetizer was good (you have to dig down a little to get to the cocktail sauce). People also enjoyed the French onion soup, said it was good, very cheesy. Some of us had the trigger fish special with julienne vegetables and fried risotto cake in thai sauce, which was tasty - flavorful with a spicy kick. Several had the halibut with creamed potatoes, spinach and bacon - also good. One in our party had lobster salad, which had just a little bit of greens, mainly on a bed of hummus with crackers. Overall we all enjoyed the food.

Girls trip to Kiawah Island. We came here last year and HAD to return! Not only do they have great food and atmosphere........ But Scotty, the manager, has this incredibly sexy deep voice and also has tons of charm! His voice alone is worth the trip! This is a upscale but fun place with friendly staff! Excellent seafood and specials! Ya gotta check this place out!

Food was amazing. Started off with some appitizers. The Cajun cheesecake was the highlight, but, everything else was delicious as well. Entrees were great. I went out on a limb and had the calf liver. My wife had crab cakes. Nick, our serve was terrific. He was very helpful with the menu. He paired a wine with my wife's crab cakes, and, she loved it. Highly recommended.

We were pleasantly surprised at what a wonderful dining experience we had here tonight! Staff was amazing and all were so attentive to us. The food was amazing and it was difficult to choose from such good selections. Our server Crystal was wonderful in helping us with our decisions. She is an asset to the restaurant! Highly recommend and we WILL be back..they do breakfast too

A fantastic experience. Food was amazing. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Chef Hege was in the kitchen this past Sunday night (Fathers Day) and he brought the house down. Will be back soon.

Amazing dinner! Came in knowing what I was going to order, and then they offered like 7 different specials so I took them up on rack of lamb. OMG. Amazingly crusted, perfectly cooked medium rare. The beans it came with were to die for. Need that recipe.

Everytime we come to South Carolina, we eat at Hege's. I was shocked to see the 1 bad review, obviously that person cannot be pleased. Hege's has always been the bright spot of our vacation. I have missed eating there for the last 4 years while recovering from cancer. I am cancer free and celebrating at Hege's on April 1st.

I attended a wedding reception there. Despite being French they cooked up some very Charelston Southern Food! It was delicious. I couldn't give it the 5th star because I didn't actually go inside the restaurant or eat it's typical menu food. But I can say they handle events very well.

Wow! This is an excellent place to eat. The 3 course fre-fix meal is definitely worth the $34. Get the She Crab Soup, Crab Cakes, and Key Lime Pie - you won't be disappointed. This is not your run of the mill touisty restaurant, freat food and excellent service.

I’m so disappointed. As a local, all the food on this island is fantastic. Worst service and food I’ve had, probably ever. Wasn’t even busy, three different people asked us if we had been seated and we replied “no” every time. Finally after 13 minutes, someone did. It took 23 minutes for someone to take our drink order, the people next to us were helped three times and they kept skipping us. Almost walked out and I should have.

Four for dinner on a Saturday. They were out of the ribs appetizer when we first wanted to order it. We then placed our main course order - ravioli, chicken and lasagna. The server returns and says they are out of all three items. We then choose off the menu again... we will all have the burger. The server returns to say they are out of burgers and also the tenderloin. Seriously!!!? We ended up with soup and salad. Quite disappointing to have to get our fourth choice of food. They didn't even offer anything as an apology.

In my opinion, Hege's is one of the top 25 restaurants on the entire East Coast. The chef mixes classic Americana with a southern, coastal, and local flare. The restaurant and food are upscale, but has a wonderfully casual feel. The staff are pleasant, professional, down to earth, accommodating and very attentive. The prices are reasonable and are comparable to restaurants of its caliber in Charleston. This was my 6th visit to Hege's; every dish has been wonderful and it is always apparent that it was prepared by someone with an excellent kitchen skill set and classical culinary training.

Food was good, but overpriced. $3 for a side of toast. Asked for crispy bacon, was told it was baked? My sister asked to have one egg; no can do; eggs came in twos? Employees were disgruntled and unorganized. Maybe more staff would be helpful. At those prices, it shouldn't be hard.

First I would like to say that the food is always exceptional. We drive down twice a year and Heges is our last night on the island diner place to go. We have done this several years now. That being said,tonight's experience was not well received. When had made a reservation for 5 but when we arrived the General Manager said it was only for 4. When we said it was for 5 he stated that someone had called and changed it. We informed him that was not correct so he took us to the table in a rude manner. 3 of the people at our table orders the trigger fish. When the plates were served we were not warned that they were extremely hot. One of the guest burned both his hands. When we brought this to the attention of the general Manager he offers no apologies and only said "ok" as if it was no big deal His indifference bothered us . This saddens me that a very talented Chef is going to suffer the consequences of a General Manager
