REVIEWS OF Giovanni's Italian Restaurant IN South Carolina

Sara Roberts

I thought the food was alright at best and my bill was really high for what it was. I know to expect that when eating out but honestly after reading all the other reviews I had much higher expectations for this particular establishment. I do like the bruchetta that comes out with every meal. That's a nice touch. My chicken marsala was really bland and the spaghetti didn't seem to hit the mark either. We had to sit at a table they kind of jammed up against a wall between the register and the kitchen....to have one extra place for people but the placement was just not great. I am all about supporting small businesses so I wouldn't necessarily say skip it altogether if it's somewhere you want to try but just don't go in with super high expectations from all the 4/5 star reviews.

Steven Banghart

Pictures don't do the food justice. The best Italian restaurant anywhere.

Tim Raysby

Birthday dinner couldnt have been more epic

Joseph Frazier

Great atmosphere, even better food. The staff is really friendly, but be ready to listen their accents are thick. I had the Gnocchi with Veal it was delicious. The meat was tender and the Gnocchi was perfect. Will definitely have to come here again.

Angelia Kirk

I absolutely love this restaurant. It is true authentic Italian. You will not be disappointed. Last night I had the best spaghetti and homemade meatballs I have ever had. Wait staff is friendly and very accommodating. My water glass was always full. Arrive early and prepare for a wonderful experience.

James Hodge

Been here many times and have never been disappointed. The food is great and the service is excellent. I recommend to any who love Italian.

Jessica Keeney

Best authentic Itailian restaurant in Greenville. Very romantic.

Matthew Vining

Came in while in town on business thanks to the reviews. I had the veal marsala with pasta on the side and my business associate had the chicken and shrimp Alfredo. The service was friendly and the food was very good. I would definitely return!!

Don’t let the seedy strip mall facade fool you, Giovanni’s is a true gem. The family-owned Italian restaurant offers great food, incredible service and a romantic candle-lit atmosphere. I was initially worried to see that they only offer …

Virginia Ann Catalano

Tasty and fresh. I recommend it.

Jeff Harris

Great little Italian restaurant, small seating area but the food is worth the wait. My girlfriend ate here one night with work meeting and said I needed to try it. The owner takes your orders, food takes a little time so don’t come here if you’re in a rush. The food is worth waiting a little bit, talk, have a glass of wine or a beer. She had the chicken fettuccine Alfredo and I had the chicken cacciatore. I want to come back and try a few more things on the menu.

AMAZING! Best Italian food we have ever had and wonderful service! They work as a team and are able to ensure everything comes out perfect due to the small size of the restaurant. This will be our go to Italian place!

This place lives up to what I have heard about it. The restaurant is very small with about 10 tables. When we arrived the doors were had not been opened yet. We had to wait no more than 5 minutes. We walked in and that is when we realized that you seat yourself and we got the last table. We were greeted and water was poured for us. I am thinking it was the owner, an older gentleman came around and got our order and I got the Hunters chicken. Ohhhh my that was the right decision for me. The flavors of the sauce and vegetables and chicken married well together. I have to say this is far better than the other Italian restaurants in the area. My new favorite place to eat.

veronica cadavid

Amazing food!! Staff is absolutely pleasant, attentive, and friendly. Loved the coziness, excellent quality food, and reasonable prices.

Travelling First

This was our first time. Special dishes are expensive. We got meat ravioli and mozzarella cheese pasta which was average taste. The coffee cup they gave was a very small size. Portion size of the coffee is like one or two zips. Total was around $30. When compared to the other Italian restaurants in town I would rate this as an average interest. Honestly don’t feel like coming back again. But nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Terry Lynch

Great restaurant! Small intimate atmosphere. Wide selection on menu. Feels like your in Manhattan on the east side except no bar. Food is delicious. Service excellent.

latika turner

Small intimate restaurant with excellent food. Only down I have was the drink selection only unsweet tea, coke, sprite.

Hannah Hoffman

Authentic and delicious! You can't go wrong with selecting from the handmade sauces. Pumpkin Sauce is a family favorite, but it's only in season certain times of the year. Bruschetta and Tiramisu are must order!!

Shana Fox

Loved this place. First time visiting and we will be back. Authentic food and great service.

Keith Hodges

Just amazing food! Excellent service!

Mariel Lopez

THE BEST chicken Marsala and chicken Parmesan in all of Greenville definitely, in South Carolina probably and in these United States possibly.

Teresa Sibilia

My favorite place it is unbelievable

Adam Connor

Great service and excellent italian food at an affordable price

Elizabeth Rhine

Best Italian food in town. The owner loves wine. He will ask your price-point and fix you up with the best value to complement your order. I usually overeat here because my taste buds want to keep going long after I am full. Reservations are not taken so expect to wait at least 20 minutes. But feel free to make conversation while waiting. You will likely be seated before you can get anywhere else on Woodruff Road!

Michael DeSantis

This is a special place. If you looking for excellent Italian dinner in a cozy romantic atmosphere you need to come here ! The owner or his sons will seat you, take your order and serve you. Giovanni will check on you to make sure your having the best experience possible. Huge wine list anywhere from $20 - $100 a bottle. I can’t say enough about this place you have to experience it for yourself. It opens at 5:00 I would suggest get theee no later then 5:30 unless you don’t mind waiting 30-40 min. There are only 10-12 tables here but it unsure top quality and service. Keep it up Giovanni’s !

Went here for Valentine’s Day last night , and although the place is small , it’s nice. The food was AMAZING- I ordered the linguine with mussels and calamari in the red sauce. The pasta was perfection and the bread was so yummy in the sauce. Their accents are VERY thick also , so be prepared lol

Dianne Heggie

Always excellent! Great family service! Our absolute favorite restaurant!

Felix Mallul

The best of the best

M Lytle

Great food, intimate setting, fantastic wine list!

Best Italian in Greenville!

Amy Craddock

This place is amazing! Top quality service; in my opinion, the best in Greenville. The food is authentic and delicious! I eat here Everytime I come back to Greenville

Jessica Jordan

We had a very unfortunate experience, tonight. We visited this restaurant for my husband's birthday, along with our 4 month old, who was sleeping in his carrier. When we arrived, there were multiple tables open, but the owner (who is VERY rude) told us he did not have a table for us because babies are a liability. We even offered to take him in with a stroller and park it next to our table (WHILE HE SLEPT) and the owner still refused to allow us to dine. This place doesn't even deserve one star- I am completely baffled at our experience! I would not recommend this place to anyone and will make sure this review makes it to every social media outlet.

Amy Knapp

Please don't go to this restaurant. It is hard enough to get a table! The food is amazing! The service is wonderful!

TJ Hubbard

They don't take names you have to wait in line it's a very small and the servers are rude.

Zachary Kennedy

First stop last night for Valentine's date night. A truly authentic, family owned and operated gem! You can find Gabriel (the owner) shaking hands AND taking orders. We got the Hot Ziti with Italian sausage and the Meat Lasagna both of which were AMAZING! We cant wait to go back!

Larry Cossio

Chicken picatta for us tonight with a bottle of 2016 purple angel! Delicious

Linda Green

This place is has nice ambiance and the dish I had brought back fond memories of Little Italy in NY. The Veal Marsala was exquisitely prepared and the grade of meat was delectable. The sauce on the pasta is homemade and so good it can be a meal by itself. The garlic bread with pieces of tomato is AMAZING. You will be tempted to make a meal out of the garlic bread alone but, don't because the entree is coming. The cost is moderate. This IS the Italian restaurant to visit in Greenville!

In- SC

Just a fantastic dinner, a small place and a short wait but its worth it. If you like wine several excellent selections. All food made to order so a little extra wait for a fantastic meal. Cozy quite atmosphere.

Jasmine Coleman

I wanted authentic Italian & I got it. The place itself is very small, but intimate. The food was to die for & the owner was very nice. Would definitely recommend going simple with the spaghetti & meatballs.

Jamie Maddox

We just happened to go there, wow!!!!! We really found a gem. Fabulous food, service and atmosphere. We will be returning to share with our friends and family.

Steve Edwards

Should be 6 stars!! Family owned #local. Great food , Great Family. Only open 4 hrs a day. Worth the wait.

Chloe E

A little on the pricy side, but very much worth it for the quality food being received. There are a lot of classic Italian menu options and the bar has unique wine I cant find anywhere else.

Lilly Power

Nice atmosphere and good food but A little pricey

Cesar Molina

The place was nice, food was actually really good. The service is not top quality, but it is good. It is a very small restaurant which makes it easy to listen to conversations around you.

Integrated Housing Solutions

The best Italian restaurants are always the small ones in little strip centers. This is no different. Very good food and attentive service. Nice wine selection of wines that every other restaurant doesn't carry.

J. Brian Smith

First time there and it was AMAZING! I can not imagine anyone NOT giving it 5 stars, but some people just can not be pleased. Great Food, Wine, Atmosphere ans Service.

Nick Dobmeier

Went here for my wife's birthday. Was hands down, best Italian food we have had out.

Kevin Williams

Best italien food easy of Europe, period! Get there early and enjoy. Lobster ravioli will change your world.

Brian DiMarco

Pretty good italian food for Greenville.

Herbie Pickell

Lobster with pumpkin sauce. Oh my gosh

Larry Mathews

I cannot go to Greenville without stopping at this restaurant. Authentic Italian cuisine and owned by an Italian gentleman. You will not be disappointed in this restaurant.

Nick K

Amazing food and service every time I am here!

Danielle Oberski

Amazing food and amazing service. Really is a more intimate setting so not good for large parties. Also, since it is small it fills up quick and you can be left waiting for a seat for a while and there is nowhere for you to sit and wait so you have to stand in a small hallway at the entrance. But the food is totally worth the wait.

Wendy Wallace

Great italian food. Small restsurant. Get there early. Little pricey but well worth it. Family owned and run.

Paula Permiceo

My husband & I moved here from NY 6 months ago & since the first time we walked into Giovanni's - the owner Gabriel & his Son, Sebastian made us feel welcome & have been so friendly to us! We dine here at least once a week & the food is home-made & delicious! Better than any food we ever ate in NY!

Seth Stewart

Best italian food in greenville. Great service and atmosphere. Small tables and seating area. Giovanni does it all.

Steve Anderson

Best Italian food in Greenville. Only 13 tables, and no reservations, so you may have to wait. But it is worth it!

Terry Thompson

This is by far the best Italian food I’ve had! Made by a local Italian family, this food gives you that home cooked fill. It’s basically like being invited to an Italians home and served dinner. It’s a small/cozy sized restaurant. Perfect for dates and special occasions. Don’t be afraid to take friends and family to this place for an amazing meal in Greenville!

Lee Wiles

Excellent Italian food, small but well worth the wait. Family run and the owner let's you know the specials. A refreshing experience.

Kirtus Warner

Definitely the best Italian I've had in the Greenville area. Avoid the chains and treat yourself to something a little bit more authentic.

Michael Jones

Excellent food, but the owner is not especially friendly. Practically jerked the menu from me after I gave my order.

Tony Morrell

Best and most authentic Italian in town!

Sharon Baker Hewitt

Excellent food as always

Adam Jennings

Poor attitude! Unacceptable first impression!

Darrell Miller

I am changing my recent review because I was finally able to enjoy Giovanni's. A few months ago I tried to order carryout and I was rejected because it was a super busy night which I can definitely understand, I still feel like some accommodations should've been made. Anyway, I sat down at the restaurant tonight and the food was amazing and the service was great! I will definitely be back to dine here again.

Kevin Mahoney

The food was amazing; atmosphere was great; and they quickly accommodated our party of 7. It is a MUST vist restaurant.

R H

Wow. This place is amazing. Excellent Italian cuisine! I wish I had found it sooner. Will definitely be my go to place for a nice dinner.

Kayla Talbert

Amazing atmosphere and delicious food. We will definitely be back!
