We had an hour before our dinner reservation at Halls across the street on Friday night. My husband was super excited to try this bar - he is a bourbon lover! We walked in and attempted to walk up to the bar. My arm was grabbed by a girl who had been standing behind the door when we walked in - apparently she worked there - although we were never greeted - until she touched me. She said we needed to talk to her before grabbing a seat. My husband told her we were just there to grab a drink. She proceeded to tell us that the bar was full and they didn't allow "double lines" - meaning standing behind anyone who was seated. There was one open stool at the corner of the bar and my husband said - i could sit there and he would stand behind me - she said "No - you cant do that" We then asked if we could see a drink menu and order form the bar and take it outside - there are a few tables on the sidewalk out front. She said "If you can get a bartenders attention to get a menu you can"... The bartender acknowledged me immediately and gave us a menu. We stood there for less than a minute deciding what to order and the girl came up to us again and said "I'm going to need you to move". Needless to say, we walked out , down the road to Hendrix where we enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere and spent $100. Whomever the "hostess" was on Friday, April 5th, needs a lesson in customer service. I understand the policies to make it an enjoyable experience for the customers, but the way the message was delivered was terrible.

Our favorite bar and restaurant in Columbia. Saturday and Sunday brunch are phenomenal. The mixed drinks are fantastic and are made by extremely knowledgeable mixologists. Try the Cup of Joe at brunch and Heart of Darkness in the evening. You won’t be disappointed.

The atmosphere at Bourbon was really nice. Service was excellent. The server really seemed to know the restaurant and menu very well. I ordered the Fried Quail and Waffles and a side of bacon. It was good....I didn't love the waffles. Also had the Crispy Boudin Balls... it's definitely an appetizer with just 3 small meatballs. The highlight of the meal was the banana pudding!! The caramel was so delicious!!! That's a must try!

Well crafted drinks in a pleasing, chic atmosphere. They fill seats early at the bar, even on a Tuesday. The small bites of food are good enough without being great. My hush puppies were a little too dense and thus did not cook properly on the inside. This is a minor quibble, though, because I think you can really enjoy this place on the strength of cocktails and other drinks alone.

Great atmosphere and of course an extremely wide selection of bourbon. The food is very good and a lot of dishes appear to be inspired by New Orleans style cooking. Some of the bourbon is priced high but you probably won't find it anywhere else close to here. They do offer some wonderfuly unique cocktails as well and offer some beer selections as well.

Very similar vibe to Prohibition in Savannah, or Calhoun’s in Bluffton! If you are looking for some whiskey in Columbia, SC this place sure doesn’t disappoint! I’ll be coming back the next time I visit Columbia!

Worst service ever! Bartender was on a power trip and was incredibly RUDE! I don’t often write reviews, this is just a heads up to management that they should fire this individual immediately!! As a public service announcement, I plan to keep warning others until he’s Finally GONE! Some dishes are a bit adventurous (and I think there should have been taste testers on the pork stuffed quail before it went out....) and the app plates are RIDICULOUSLY small for the price. Knowledgeable bartenders and servers, great drink recipes. Slow service, but friendly when it arrives. Nice setting and environment. I recommend reservations for groups. Bump up the serving sizes on small plates, speed up service and you got a five star review from me.

My GF and I went to Bourbon twice and even though we are new to Columbia, this is the best bar that we’ve found. The cocktails are amazing and the bartenders are experienced and knowledgeable. Most cocktails are $10, which is very reasonable in my opinion. The atmosphere of Bourbon is cozy and intimate as it’s not a huge establishment. They also have a nice food menu, but we did not try any. 10/10 would recommend Bourbon.

I was here for Sunday brunch. Before they even opened there was a line at the door and by the time we parked and got to the restaurant there was no indoor seating, but still plenty of outdoor seating, which was fine since we had a puppy with us anyways. There was a reason why there was a line- the food and drinks were great and the staff was super friendly and prompt.

If you are only going to one place in Columbia, go to bourbon. The food is great, the feel is comfortable and trendy, and the cocktails are the best in the state. If you love whisky, they have over 300 bottles stocked to include see very rare bottles. I live 2 hours away and when I need a weekend getaway I spend the weekend in the Sheraton with frequent trips to Bourbon.

The bartender failed to give any unique suggestions, he seemed only to suggest the easiest drinks to make. Also our server did minimal communication and the busser did most of the work. Better staff efforts and interactions would take this place through the roof! It has potential.

Very cool bar and restaurant with a dim lit decor. It is a fairly small space and they do not accept reservations, so during peek hours there can be a wait. Food is excellent and New Orleans styled and pricing is not super expensive, but definitely not cheap. Had a really fun time here for a birthday dinner for myself. Bar tenders and wait staff were friendly and fairly prompt, though if you are sitting at the bar it can take a bit longer when they are busy. I would recommend going here if you love New Orleans styled foods. Drinks are very inventive and they have some good local beers on tap.

Just a fair amount of warning the place is small. We started outside, the seats were nice. The bar is pretty legit and you have plenty of choices. I had the lamb, and hush puppies. The pumpkin cheesecake was amazing. They lack hot sauce choices other then that it's a mid range price point. Worthy of a trip down.

Bourbon is an awesome little bar that has amazing food, all the bourbon, and a good view of main Street if you ask me. This place is usually pretty busy and with good reason, the cocktail drinks are off the chain, and the bartenders are super nice. I absolutely need those tiki water glasses, it makes the water taste better. Great atmosphere too, I love how the place looks so classy.

We sat at the bar and got brunch. I had the big breakfast biscuit, it was down right delicious! Also had the crab cakes and grits; which, were equally delicious. They do a daily special from 4 - 6PM that is Bourbon, Burger, and a beer for $10! That's a great deal and the burgers are great too! A little pricey but definitely worth every penny. I'd been here once a few years back and it has passed through thought and memory without mention. Either I was wrong, or they've stepped up the game. They nailed the Old Fashioned to the point that my Kentucky companion called it the best she's had, outside of Louisville. The Brussel sprouts and pork Mac and cheese are best eaten slowly, and savored, because sweet Jesus, are they good! My lamb burger, and her crab po' boy rounded out a delectable meal, with spot on, swift service, and easy banter with our waitress. We'll darken the doorway again, no doubt.

Excellent experience at Bourbon, a wise choice when choosing a good restaurant in Columbia. To start the atmosphere is excellently crafted and makes for a very rustic vibe. The service is very kind and helpful however there can usually be a wait due to the restaurant's popularity but it is usually relatively minimal. The food is definitely the highlight of this restaurant with their staple biscuit or even "big biscuit" with requires an order a week in advance. This restaurant is one of my top choices when looking for a good experience and good food in the Columbia area.

A very busy place for Sunday brunch! They do not accept reservations. We got there shortly before they opened and put our name on a list for seating. We were greeted by wait staff promptly and drink orders were delivered after a brief wait. The meal, however, took over half hour to arrive and my food was not hot, just warm. No drink refills were offered. The food was very good, and would have been 5 stars if it had been hot. We had quail and waffles, big buiscuit with chicken and sausage gravy with their home made sausage., and a burger with tots. We will come back and try again because of the varied menu and drink assortment.

This place has amazing drinks. I had a frozen Rosemary mule made with infused rosemary ginger syrup. It was one of the best drinks I've had. The Penicillin was a fantastic scotch cocktail with Black Grouse, honey, and ginger, in a class with Laphroaig swirled in it, giving a smoky, peaty scent to the cocktail. I'll definitely be back, and would love to try the food, as it smelled fantastic when other patrons ordered around us. Nice atmosphere and great service, too!

Bartender had great suggestions. Great selection of bourbon and whiskey. Onion rings were crispy and delicious. Pimento cheese is spicy but good. Good atmosphere. Really reasonable food and drink prices.

The food and service was amazing. We had the boudin balls for appetizers and the surf and turf for dinner. The steak was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were so good and I don't even like mashed potatoes. Great Mother's Day meal.

Very disappointed. Atmosphere was great. Good music. Over priced bougie, hipster restaurant. Had 2 appetizers. Boudin balls were extremely dry, greens with the boudin were tasteless. Pimento cheese was just regular cheese with every spice they can think of. Turf n surf, a 14 oz grade f ribeye drowned in burnt bourbon, topped with tough "bourbon burned" shrimp for $42. Herb mashed potatoes were amazing. Will not return.

Stopped by for drinks and some small bites. Pulled pork was great with a spicy bbq sauce that had just enough zip. Pork Mac & cheese left a bit to be desired - way too many bread crumbs and not enough pork ☹️. Great atmosphere, good service, and some nice food and drink specials, so we will be back.
