REVIEWS OF Bistro Toulouse IN South Carolina

Love this place!! It’s small and intimate and has a great energy. Great food, wines, desserts and service. Had Stella as my server both times and she makes the experience even better...definitely recommend for celebrating events, date nights or for those times you want a nice dinner but want to do something different.

A must visit place for French cuisine. Stella, our server, was very attentive and knowledgeable, helped us pick out some yummy plates. I enjoyed the steamed mussels while my men had the steak and frites. Try the French Blonde cocktail. It is smooth with a touch of grapefruit. Delicious.

Joe Larson

Very good food. We had brunch, with a nice charcuterie to start. The selection of meat and cheeses were exceptional. We finished our meal by splitting a fruit crepe, which was as good as any in Paris. Highly recommend.

Rebecca Bowers

Very nice little French Bistro. The food was prepared well and the service was great! Stella was very helpful and attentive.

Great food, varied menu, friendly! Love the place. Unassuming from outside... But really good French food!

Gail Pritikin

Just had a lovely lunch here. The food was very good, however the wait was a little long once we ordered. I would recommend it if you're not on a hurry.

Very good, great attentive staff, and independently owned!

What a cool little place! Location would seem to take away from the French Cafe feel, but once you're in, it's pure bistro! Awesome brunch, can't wait to go for dinner!

Howard Nicklas

The food was average and the service not up to par.

Tom & Jolene McGovern

Stunningly excellent food and service.

This hidden gem made for an incredible evening. We actually enjoyed a three course meal and decided to first order a chacuterie and cheese plate which was amazing. Unique cheeses, meats, mustards, cornichons, honey with comb, and fresh pate (of course you can choose your own variety). Our server, Anne, helped make it a memorable evening. I had never had orange-vanilla souffle and it was a perfect end to an evening of cuisine and wine. Can't wait to go back!

The food is soooo good. Will go back.

Great experience at this hidden gem! We went for Charleston restaurant week and ordered a mix of the restaurant week items and menu items. We had the cheese plate, escargot, mussels, two entrees (forgot the names, and lavender creme brulee. We especially loved the creme brulee and mussels, but enjoyed all of it. The waitress we got was not as knowledgeable as well would have liked, but we were still able to enjoy the experience.

Richard Kaplan

The food was amazing and was matched by the service. I would go back.

This place is basically perfect. Dinner, lunch, brunch - I have never had a bad meal here. Service is warm and professional. When you walk inside, you completely forget that you're in the Sea Island Shopping Center. Everything is very fresh and so clearly made with care. It seems like a new restaurant opens every week in Mt P; my husband and I used to love trying them all out. Lately, though, when we have some time to our selves, we skip all the novelty and wind up back at the Bistro. I can't recommend this place enough.

Bistro Toulouse is wonderful. Quite, very French. I have never had a bad meal there. Service is great and it is not downtown with lots of parking!

Sudhir Prabhu

This fine neighborhood bistro is located in a strip mall serves creative & flavorful French cuisine using fresh. Presentation of dishes very inviting. Service is excellent but not intrusive. Noise level was moderate. Good wine selection. Excellent mussels & frites, grilled octopus, escargots, onion soup, bouillabaisse, fresh fish & ratatouille.

Jessica Ryan

It was nice enough, food was good. Maybe not worth the $150 spent, but I'm not mad about it.

Best kept secret in Mount Pleasant- highly skilled staff and food that is best in Mt. P. Near our house and my wife and I go here for special occasions.

Cute interior- don't be scared of by the location! Our server was nice, the food was good. French onion soup, escarot, and soufflé were delightful. The cassoulet was good, but would have leveled up slightly with maybe fresh parsley for herbiness or lemon for some acid. Steak frite steak was good, but fries weren't anything special. Mussels on the table next to us looked great and I'd be willing to try that next time and get soufflé for dessert again.

Hands down the best French food in Charleston/Mount Pleasant. I have been coming here for years and it always suprises me. The most recent trip was my bridal luncheon. They handled our large group with no problem and I was told by everyone how good the food was. I recommend this place for good food, great service and a great time.

Muffi Brinson

Happy hour not very happy. Actually very expensive. I thought the reason for happy hour is to be able to try a new place and get a decent deal at the same time, not here. The charcuterie plate teeny tiny. Just not impressed at all. Will not go back.

Elizabeth Heck

The reviews are true! This is certainly a rare find with fantastic selections of high cuisine in the midst of a grocery store strip mall. The wait staff was friendly and welcoming. The ambiance reflects a European feel, including dim lighting. The food was certainly foreign, but still very accessible for all palates. I was honestly skeptical but adventurous. Instead I was thoroughly comfortable and satisfied!!

Very personable service. Eggs Benedict needed more bechamel sauce.

The food was bland, dry, etc. Not the normal wonderful dinner.

Great French food, a bit on the high side. The atmosphere is good. Your have to try the lavender creme brulee.

Manager told me coq au vin didn't necessary mean a wine sauce. Coq au vin literally translates to chicken in wine. What was served to me looked and tasted like progreso chicken soup(egg noodle, carrots and all). Was heartbroken with how bad the food was. Staff was freindly, cheese plate was reasonably priced and Creme brulee was technically fine. Everything was was poor.

Highly reccommend!! Had a delicious Anniversary there last evening and the best duck and grouper every! Also, they honored our gift certificate from 3 years ago. So amicable! Great Service, smiles, and French Cuisine, who could want more!

Love authentically prepared cuisine. We go to this outstanding restaurant for lunch & dinner. This is our go to restaurant for Christmas Eve dinner.

Stopped in for dessert and coffee. Pistachio cake was dry, lavendar creme brulee a little heavy handed. Coffee was nothing special. Both the hostess and waiter were rude. I guess they thought they were in Paris instead of a strip mall in Mt. Pleasant.

We just celebrated my birthday weekend tonight at one of our favorites, Bistro Toulouse - and holy cow, did they ever hit it out of the park! One of the best meals we ever had in a restaurant anywhere, and we are not kidding. The mussels were plump, the wine was great, but most of all, Patrick's steak & frites with béarnaise sauce was incredible and my catch of the day (flounder with a carrot-ginger puree and beurre blanc / white butter sauce) was *amazing* - and of course our server Anne was as gracious and helpful as ever! Thank you Bistro Toulouse for a *delicious* dinner

Food was absolutely fantastic. Good size portions. Service was ok, but food was so good it made up for it. Great ambiance. Wouldn't notice it if I wasn't intentionally going there, which I like.

A true gem hiding in a strip mall. Cozy atmosphere with excellent food and service. I had the wreck fish with farro, delicious.

Mmmm cocktails and friends and accidental souffle dessert!

Fantastic food and service. We are visiting the area and were having a hard time finding a place that didn't have a long wait for lunch. Im not sure why this place was not slammed like others were but the service is top notch, the food delicious and the prices are reasonable. My husband already wants to come back for dinner before we leave town.

Don't let the strip mall location turn you off. The food is excellently prepared by people who know good food. If you want grease and carbs go to the creek. If you want real food with flavor go here.

I would recommend to anyone wanting something different for brunch. The trout with lentils was excellent. Located in a strip mall and can be easily missed. Our waitress Stella was awesome and very knowledgeable. I will be going back.

We went there for Mother’s Day lunch. We have been there in the past for dinner. I would go back. Food was good, service was fine. I also like Felixs in downtown Charleston for some really good French food

The broth of The French Onion Soup alone is majesty, Fresh Snapper is lovely, the lavender creme brulay (I am so sorry for butchering the name)is Zuses gift to mankind, and the server looks like Mark Ruffalo at a glance. Oh, and the environment is great. All grins, no regrets.

Real French cooking at very affordable price. We were not expecting such a good meal when we saw the front of the restaurant. Just step in and you will be amazed. We tried the escargots, salade Lyonnaise, moules frites and bouillabaisse. It was all so French! Nothing "americanised" in them. Just go, pick something on the menu, I promise you, you won't be disappointed. As a French couple, we give this place a 5 Stars

I eat there about once and month and love the food and the service. It is a great place for a date and I think you will be well pleased with the menu and the atmosphere which is quite romantic!

William Franklyn

The Charcuterie & Cheeses were good and the Duck Pate was fantastic. The Cassoulet was great and the Duck Confit was perfect. The grilled octopus was just okay and the Bouillabaisse was overcooked and it's sauce was lacking in flavor. The red velvet bread pudding was dry and not what I expected and the dark chocolate souffle tasted burnt to me. I probably won't frequent this place for dinner but I will be back to sit at the bar for a couple of drinks and the Charcuterie with Duck Pate.

Went with my parents and a noisy group at the next table ruined the evening. Manager and staff would do nothing to quiet them down. I don't usually write bad reviews but this deserves one.
