Stopped by after a day at the aquarium, Best burger we've had in awhile, fries were awesome just enough spice. Ice tea was perfect for the 100 degree day. Felt a little cramped but other then that pretty cool place.

This place is an anomaly. Dive bar doesn't even define it properly. I will say that if you are looking for a solid burger, Big Gun has my #1 or #2 favorite in the whole city. That being said, don't expect anything over a hot meal. The "service" the bartender gave to others was embarrassing for me to even sit and listen to. When to guys, obviously just visiting, walked in and asked for wine, the bartender literally said we have white and red. When the patrons inquired further into exactly which types they had, the bartender pulled the bottle from the refrigerator and after handing it to the patron for their own analysis said, " I don't know what that says, but it does the trick" For clarification, this is not a wine bar and I don't expect the employees to be able to pull out notes of hickory or cherry. What I would expect is professionalism which was as far away from this place as a clean set of stemware. Overall, I like this place but only because I know what I'm getting into when I walk in. I've always had bad service here though. A few months ago I walked in and sat at a table for literally 8 minutes and in that time, not one server or bartender emerged from the back. In closing, get the great burgers while you can. The gentrification of Charleston will soon push this place to the outskirts with its similar brethren Tattooed Moose and Royal.

Excellent place for a Burger and drink. Don't let the outside fool you, it's clean and friendly inside. The bartender was awesome, service was great and the burgers were really good. Highly recommend. Lovers of the Dogtooth in Wildwood will like this place

I found this gem while taking a breather from the club next door. I thought to myself "what smells so good this late at night?" Stumbled in with a girlfriend and had the best burger in a long time. The one with horseradish! Brought my boyfriend back a few months later and he loves this place.

Went here for a later night burger. It was literally one of the best I've ever had. I'm a food snob so saying that is a big deal. The barkeep was a super guy who was literally running the whole place. The place is like a dark and eclectic dive with cool decor. The two man band was a good one. Its a small place and just the ticket for a beer off their extensive list Nd burgers!

Tonight we ordered food from your establishment to be delivered to our hotel , and honestly I'm shocked ANYONE would let that food leave their kitchen. It was virtually inedible. The fries (both orders) were so badly burned they couldn't be eaten and the burgers were charred to black charcoal. I honestly feel like you've stolen my money. Oh! And to top things off, the guy who you have answering your phone needs to work on his people skills. Never again, and I'll be warning anyone who asks to stay away as well. Sent from my iPhone

Stopped over at this little place waiting for our event at Mynt to start. The French fries were a cross between home made and fast food. They were AWESOME. Michael in the kitchen does this food right. Very generous portion of fries for less than $5!!! Their wings must be crazy good because they were out when we went to order. The guy before us...his wings smelled and looked delicious. If you're close to Calhoun- eat here.

I just moved from Massachusetts and found big gun to be a great place for locals. The tacos are absolutely to die for! The bartender named 'Heavy' was so amazing and accommodating! He really made sure all my needs were met while dining at this establishment!!! It's really a great place all around.

Cool little spot on Calhoun. Friendly staff, good beers on tap. Mac and chz fritters are really good. Burgers are VERY salty, not sure why. Both my wife and I had very salty burgers and the couple next to us complained of the same.

Tiny place. A bit on the grungy side. Reminds me of Rec Room a little bit. Only one pool table that's placed in the worst spot. And my bartender didn't know how to make a margarita which confused me. He had to get a co-worker to help him. Which i appreciate.

Cozy gem tucked away next to Mynt. Staff is great, and the Blue Burger was amazing!! (Ate here for lunch) Would never have thought to throw those flavors together. Oh, and the fries are epic. Sounds like it really picks up at night too! Would love to come back when they have a band!

The veggie burger is the best in charleston, and its vegan, i'm not vegan but was happy to know there was no egg in it. It is one of my favorite burgers in Charleston. The place is awesome too and has board games and delicous drinks.

If you want a hot burger, order the towering inferno, but be warned its made with a whole habanero. I usually ask for 3 in mine. The 1/2 price burger happy hour and excellent beer selection are well worth the visit.

This places makes the best burgers and they are 1/2 price between 4-6 pm. The "Thin White Duke" is a mushroom, swiss and carmelized onion burger that rocks. They cook it exactly how you want it done. The fries are great too, extra crispy. Be warned...the Brussels sprouts will stink up the whole bar, but I've been told they are good. They have a great selection of beers and whiskeys.

The food was amazing, but the bartender named 'Heavy' thought it would be ok to add in a tip to my credit card even though I tipped him in cash 20% when I cashed out. I went back to the establishment and asked why he could just add money to the slip when I clearly indicated I left cash on my merchant copy. I left my phone number and was assured that it would be fixed. I was never contacted and the issue was not resolved. I will never return there again. I warn everyone reading this to just pay in cash. Unbelievable how they can just steal money from me like that.

Burgers are super delicious but pretty much only offers burgers and some snacks. Beer selection is very good. Great location as well. Keep in mind you have to order food at the bar and there's no real table service so you have to go to bartender if you need anything.

Big Gun Burger Shop & Bar, My wife and I went in on a Sunday around 1pm after seeing a show on food network that was doing burgers. I googled BEST BURGERS IN CHARLESTON and this came up with 4 1/2 stars. We jumped in the car and went downtown. After finding a parking place right down the street we walked into this awesome little place. We were greeted by the bartender and offered menu's. We were pleased to see all the awesome items on the small menu. We both ordered drinks which came right out and the Bloody Mary was Perfect with a piece of fresh cooked bacon as a garnish. We ordered burgers which came out nice and juicy. Just have to say Kudos to the staff for getting this little hole in the wall on Calhoun right and treating the customers like friends. Thanks Guys and we will be back. Already recommended you to friends who work in the area.

Angry death metal screaming lyrics so loud you have to yell to have a conversation with the person right next to you at the bar. If that's your thing then this place is for you. I left 1/2 a beer on the bar just to get outside where it was quiet. Beer was cold. Food was good. Building is cool. Those are the only reasons for giving 3 stars instead of 1.

Went here because of the Google ratings. I was not disappointed. 1/2 prices burgers from 4-6pm were a pleasant surprise. They were tasty and worth the $5.75 ish price. Bartender was the friendliest and most sincere in town that we came across. I think his name was "Jason". It was quiet on a Wednesday at 4pm but it was perfect! I call the the best burger in town!!!!

This is a pretty damn legit little pub. We came in here and were immediately greeted by Matt, who also took our order and served us the food and drinks. It’s our first time to this bar in Charleston and he gave us some good info for things on the menu and local breweries that they offer here to drink. I enjoyed a Yuengling, Poke the Bear and the Stingray stout. The food was great. We had a inferno burger with great fries and the Thin White Duke w/fries. Very satisfied with everything here and we may even be back later today for more drinks... Thanks Matt

In Charleston for the Marathon. Searched for the best burgers near my hotel. This place was 1.5 miles from me but totally worth the walk. The burger itself was grilled perfectly and the bun was toasted ! So good!! This is a small restaurant bar with a small menu but when you do something well you don't need to branch out I will definitely be back.

We are a retired British couple on vacation. This was the best burger and fries we had in our 2-week tour of North & South Carolina and Georgia. The Classic burger was so tasty and tender and filling, and the fries were like home-cooked. Washed down with a couple of Murphy's stout beers. Lovely!

Just had some awesome burgers at big gun burger shop. We went with our kids at 4 right when they opened. Awesome happy hour from 4-6 has half priced burgers. I had the towering inferno which lived up to the name. Rest had the house burger. Lots of debate if it was the best burgers we've ever had but it's in the running. Loose atmosphere. Definitely more bar than restaurant but at 4-5 totally fine for a family with kids. Later evening probably not. Good beer and liquor selection. Fries WERE the best regular fries. No debate there.
