First of all, let me say that I am Allergic to a TON of stuff. It’s so hard to enjoy a meal out. Sherrita was out waitress. She was AMAZING. She brought the gluten free menu for me and substituted items I was sensitive to with ease and s smile. She went above and beyond In packing out leftovers in separate marked containers. What a great experience!! The food itself was delicious! We are definitely pleased with our experience. Treat yourself!

Ordered: Chile relleno and carnitas enchiladas, refried beans with cilantro lime rice. Review: the Chile was outstanding, truly delicious, crunchy and cheesy! Enchilada was alright as well. Order: beef Chimichanga with charro beans and cilantro lime rice. Review: tasty, crunchy, giant (dinner portion). Great tex-mex food in a beautiful, clean environment, large clean restroom. Always a reliable choice.

The food was alright and the waitress was slightly better than the food. One out of my three enchilada tortillas was over cooked and unpleasant to eat. My boyfriend explained what he wanted and it took three times of bringing it out to get the meal correct. (Carne asada, onions, and cilantro....that's it). We had to ask the waitress to take empty plates out of the way when the food came and she was reluctant to do so. Our table was too small for four people to comfortably eat with extra dirty dishes on it from appetizers. Last off, our mojitos were extremely disappointing. My parents had gone the day before and praised the blackberry mojito, but when we went as a group for dinner, it must have been a different bartender because we were all let down. Overall it wasn't a great experience.

Always excellent and varied Mexican food. I had great tasting carnitas tacos. Wife ate a delicious quesadilla hornos, and daughter the always flavorful fajitas with a terrific array of additions: sour cream, guacamole, and tasty fresh pico de gallo. We all ordered their wonderful Papas con chile (a delicious blend of mashed potatoes, cheese, and peppers), and black beans. All meals were served piping hot and stayed hot though our leisure late lunch (thanks to their large, thick, heated stoneware serving plates). Abuelo's is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever experienced, that from a big Mexican food fan.

The best Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten in! The chips come with a sampler of salsa's to help you choose the right "heat". You can then get your favorite. Our server was friendly and helpful in helping us select our meals. We did not have to wait long for our meals to be served and they had a great presentation! After serving our meals, our waitress checked only once to be sure they were as expected. A pet peeve of mine that I do not like having someone interrupt me while I'm eating 5 or 6 times! Will definitely go back! Real Mexican cuisine at affordable prices!

It's kind of an upscale Mexican restaurant, so the prices are a little high.will be moving to South Carolina in a couple of years so, this has been the best Mexican food we've been able to find there so far. if you're over 60 you can order off the lunch menu any time of day or night, which may limit us but at least it gives us good options at a better price since we're not very big eaters. But everything I've had so far as been good.

I am very disappointed, we usually come here but this time it was terrible. Our waiter dropped our entire meal on the ground and she came back out in 2 minutes with a meal you could tell the microwaved. The chicken had bones and the meat was raw and they didn’t even give us at least 5% off our meal. If you could pass this on to corporate please do as I am very disappointed in your staff and the service tonight.

Far better than the usual Mexican chain restaurants, Abuelo makes their entrees to order. Including TexMex favorites and combo platters. Large bar area with seating for dinner. Our server gave our table plenty of attention as she traveled to and from the kitchen.

The attitude of of the bartender definitely needs to be more than ok. As that is all she can say and I just work here. Service no better after our third visit .we waited 30 minutes on lunch, had bartender check on it .oh it will be up in a few...I will not be back to this place again..no improvement after third visit ..

Our server HIDIE is the only reason they get two stars she was FANTASTIC. We got fajitas for two, for our fourth item was the shrimp wrapped in bacon $3.75 for 3 not worth it. The entire meal was very disappointing. The homemade corn tortillas came out of a package then microwaved for a couple of minutes, no flavor and so hard could barely chew them. We will not be going back

I went in the off season with my mother expecting just a typical little Mexican restaurant. We were very surprised! The place itself is very nicely decorated. The food had much more variety than we were expecting! We got sangria as drinks, and it was delicious, not just some fruit juice. The appetizers, tacos and even just the complimentary THREE salsas and chips were just phenomenal. Also, for happy hour lovers, their bar is absolutely gorgeous!

Incredibly bad experience, I can understand why chain restaurants are a dying breed. We waited an hour to be seated while people were being seated before us. Waiting over an hour and a half for food while other people were served and completing their meals before us that came after us . Food was cold, bland, poorly prepared. You couldn’t pay me to eat at that place again. One star is being way too kind.

My wife also has allergies including a very serious one to any products with Soy. This is our second time here with friends and it was better than the first. Our server Ximena was just superb. She handled the allergy issues and everything else perfectly. The food is absolutely delicious. My wife had the Shrimp & Chicken Fajitas and I had the Pork Abrigada. Abuelo's is our new favorite restaurant in Myrtle Beach and I highly recommend everyone go there.

Very nice place. The atmosphere is enjoyable for either a business lunch or a nice dinner. The menu is good and has a good variety of options. The staff is friendly and quick. Even though the service is quick, you don't feel rushed. It can be busy at popular times so expect a waiting list.

If I could rate this place zero stars, I would have. I can’t vouch for their food, but I can vouch for their service. I don’t blame it on the attendant at the front, but it was honestly the worst. We waited for 30 minutes, and we could see they had enough space for us to sit. But, they said they didn’t have enough servers—which we could clearly see. Yet, they still could seat more people after us. I hope none of you have to experience this.

Have been here in the past, but today was exceptional. Drove to Myrtle Beach from Cleveland for our annual vacation, so we were a bit tired but we were seated promptly. Our server was knowledgeable tho only working there for 3 months. My meal was delicious! Will definitely be back!

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Starting with their light crispy chips and three salsa dips. I had shrimp stuffed with cheese, jalapeno pieces, wrapped in bacon then grilled that were so good. They were part of a dinner plate that included beef medallions and choice if sides. Abuelo has all the right flavors and a beautiful clean decor!

Very good food and service! Everyone enjoyed their meals (which included several specials). The enchiladas were very good with the different sauces, watch out for the chile con queso, it is good but does provide a spicy kick. We also managed to share some flan at the end; that was outstanding!

We were highly disappointed. I asked for a drink, which WAS on the menu, and was told, "We haven't been able to order that" (Kobel Champagne). I then asked for a White Sangria. "We don't do that either anymore." We asked for a spoon for the Cheese Dip. We were told a spoon is in your wrapped silverware. We had to ask for bowls for Cheese Dip. After all of this, we didn't tell our server the medallions tasted sour and the bacon on the Wrapped Shrimp ine was burnt and the other under-cooked. We ate a portion, paid, and left.

All the servers stand over the customers and congregate around the POS kiosk making it an awkward place to eat as you have 3 to 5 servere standing and staring at you and having conversations that are best had behind closed doors or other rooms not occupied by people. Visited Abuelo's for Cinco de Mayo 2019 and was quite impressed. Bar staff was great while we had drinks waiting on table. Once at table, greeted by "Michael" who was our server. He was outstanding and very attentive. Food was amazing as well. Flavors were fresh and intense making for a truly pleasant dining experience. Will return to Abuelo's everytime we visit Myrtle Beach. Recommend everyone visit Abuelo's and dine. Remember to ask for Michael as he is a superstar server!

Awesome experience! Delicious food! We went in with a party of 11 without calling ahead and were seated in less than 10 minutes. Complimentary chips and salsa were already on the table waiting for us. Our server Ellen was extremely helpful and pleasant. Our drinks and chip bowls were refilled quickly and without prompting. The food was fabulous. The atmosphere was warm and family friendly. Our children especially enjoyed the magician who was visiting tables that evening.

I'm from Texas, and I've been searching for a good, authentic Mexican restaurant. After trying El Cerro a couple of times, which is horrible and would rather eat at Taco Bell, I came across Abuelo's, and boy I'm glad I did. The restaurant is very clean, nicely decorated, very friendly service and staff, and last but not least, the food was going OUTSTANDING! The price is worth it and I recommend anyone who wants real, authentic Mexican cuisine to stop by this wonderful establishment.

Mother's Day at Abuelo's sounded like a good idea and for the most part it was. We had a "call ahead" reservation and they had our table ready. Don't recall our waiter's name but he was friendly and prompt to take our drink order and answered our questions. He got my DH's substitutions correct. The food was good but it wasn't great. We were expecting the bill but the waiter kept side stepping us. Then instead of bringing the check he brought a dessert we didn't order. We had to say no thank you and to take it back, which he did. We finally got the bill, paid it and then on the way out we noticed that Mother's were supposed to get a "gift". We had two mother's in our group but we never received any "gift" nor did anyone even acknowledge we were mother's. Most restaurants go out of their way to wish a Happy Mother's Day but not Abuelo's.

Juan the bartender there is absolutely phenomenal. He made everything to order and even did an onion volcano display that was top of the line. Drinks were spot on and couldn’t be happier. Also the salsa is the bomb. Only sad thing is they don’t have a fried ice cream dessert like most Mexican restaurants. If I can have one suggestion for the manager is to add that to the menu. A+

I love this place. The food is delicious! Be careful you might fill up on the chips and salsa, but they are so good! Prices are worth it, since they give you good portions. Very friendly staff and clean. I highly recommend this place. Oh! And if you love guacamole its is freshly homemade

First time coming here, drinks and food were delicious however the service was terrible. Took forever in between visits to the table. And because of bad service our waitress said shed adjust the happy hour prices which she did and that she took off the queso which she didn’t, only half was deducted then she told us the manager gave us a $25 gift card however on the front of the card it said 16.17 so I asked to talked to a manager to clarify the situation and he said that wasn’t a $25 gift card and he wasn’t sure why our waitress gave that to us. He was very dismissive and seemed like he didn’t care about taking care of the customer at all. Terrible hospitality and will never be going back!

We were there for over an hour. We finally got our table and then ordered drinks, it took a while for us to get the opportunity to order our food when we did we waited 50 mins at least. I tried keeping a positive attitude since it was very busy. I went out to smoke a cigarette and when I got back my wife told me that the waiter came by and said that he apologizes but it seems that the kitchen lost our ticket. I left cash on the table for our drinks and left very disappointed. I’ve always wanted to try the food there but Abuelo’s I will never be back to visit any of your available sites, blame it on your South Carolina, Myrtle beach restaurant.

This is a very nice restaurant. I typically do not care for Mexican dishes at most places, but I was pleasantly surprised with this. Very nice atmosphere and service was excellent. Prices very reasonable and portions were more than enough. I would eat here again definitely.

This place is GREAT. Our waiter was nice and informative regarding the dishes and all the food was DELICIOUS. The nachos's were EVERYTHING; the chips are huge. They provide complimentary chips and salsa and all the sauces are outstanding. I was in the area for Holiday and will def come back!

The location was Myrtle Beach, SC where our server was advised there was a food allergy to avocado, when the order came out (street tacos) there was guacamole on the plate. The 2nd server was advised and took the plate back to bring a new order,we were assured the sides were new...the plate was clean. When he left we check around the plate and underneath the black bean bowl there was about 1 tsp of guacamole. Not sure if the kitchen staff thought this was a joke but allergies are deadly. The original server returned w/apologies because he forgot to notate on the order about allergies...the sad part is no mgr came to the table to at least prepare a meal for us.

Been coming here for years every time we come to Myrtle Beach. Last time though. Portion sizes have gotten smaller. This was our first time getting carry out. Enchiladas de Cozumel at $20 should have more than 4 medium shrimp. I’ve also recommended this place to many people but never again.
