Who told these people at zambreno that they were serving mexican food? Not even close. No taste at all ( rice , beans and the meat were horrible. Price is so expensive they charge for every little thing you put on. Very small portions they give more salad them anything. First and last time i eat at zambrero.

I'll start by saying that Im glad the management responds to reviews and accepts compliments as well as criticisms. To frame this experience it was about 9pm on a Wednesday and I was heading to Taco Bell when I decided to give this place a try. I found the presentation to be clean and welcoming and the staff was truly proud of what they were creating. I ordered two of the tacos and a burrito and had to take the burrito to go as these tacos were enough. I felt I was eating healthy and from a presentation point of view, these would be the tacos served on a cruise ship. Before trying this place my go to take out Mexican would have been Moe's. When comparing the three Moe's is like the middle of the road. Zambrero clearly offers the best presentation and I'm sure the quality of the ingredients are better and fresher and you have to applaud it's mission. But it's also the priciest and I can't help to think of it as a gourmet Mexican take out. With Taco Bell clearly the down and dirty of the three. In conclusion I'm not sure if Mexican takeout should be gourmet. It's kinda like goumet donuts, nice on a special occasion but maybe not your weekly go to. Also the free lemon water adds a touch of class but the complimentary chips and salsa at Moe's seems to me a better fit.

My husband and I went here tonight for the first time and had an excellent experience! The service was great and the food was fantastic. As someone who cares about the quality and sourcing of my food I'm really impressed with the menu. I was disapointed to read that some of the previous reviewers did not feel the same way. You can expect that a place like this will be a little more expensive than somewhere like cilantros because the quality is more superior. The food is fresh and the menu is thoughtfully curated. We'll definitely be returning!

Went today and was not only underwhelmed but a little dissapointed. I understand it is a new location, but that is why you take experienced employees from a different location to train the new people. The staff was very nice, which I will give you a second star for. Customer service is number one in my book. Now for some constructive criticism. We ordered two burritos, our first time coming in felt a lot like your normal quick in and out burrito shop. Except the proteins were held in large enamel lodge cast irons (kind of cool) I was first asked if I wanted refried beans. It being the only choice of beans in a burrito place I was inclined to say yes. A table spoon was the portion spoon maybe 2 TBSP max. Barely could be spread across the burrito shell. Then asked what kind of rice we wanted. She got white rice, I got black. Then what kind of protein, she got chicken I got pork. Pretty standard. Then for toppings, guacamole you can only assume is extra which I did so I said "everything". Then our served asked if we want a sauce on it. We both said yes. Then both of our servers simultaneously TRIED to wrap our burritos. It was a futile attempt. UNDERSTANDING that this place is new and employees may not be well into their positions yet I was waiting for someone to step in. The manager standing literally feet away watching this broken attempt of a wrap job does not do a single thing to correct it. Whatever, maybe that person did not see this go down. We approach the register. no drinks, no extra chips or sides our bill came to 25 dollars. I thought to myself Damn this burrito must be good... We payed. Then our server tells us they do not have any trays for dining in... Funny thing is they build your burrito on a tray as they slide it down the counter. Then wrap the burrito it in tin foil, and I'm sure wash the tray. So we carry our haphazardly wrapped burritos to our table and open them up. A little disappointed I unwrap my burrito and rewrap it with out a problem. The burrito was sub par in flavor. And poorly portioned. If I wanted to wrap my own burrito I could have done it at home for a lot less then 25 dollars. Maybe after a few months of being open they could improve but at a first glance I would say this would be a hard pass, as food goes. As for the donating to people in need A+, but make sure your staff is properly trained before you open. If you plan on training staff during open hours. Make sure you keep a watchful eye on what they are producing and things like this wouldn't happen.

Similar concept as Chipotle. The meats are in Dutch ovens. The accompaniments are very fresh. I tried the chicken and pork tacos and found them to be a little sweet. They serve the bowls in nice ceramic bowls. I'd go back to try a bowl.

I didn't know what sort of restaurant this was when I walked in. I soon discovered it was another qudoba Chipotle, but with the benefit that they donate food. Because it was a similar restaurant to the others I elected to get the nachos since it was slightly different. The flavors were nice except the randomness of the basil.?. What I didn't like was the flemsiness of the chips. They were so weak thru couldn't hold any food without breaking. Plus it was served in a bowl rather than a plate so digging was messy! Staff were friendly though, just improve the nacho chips.

I give them 3-4 months. Why does my burrito have to have terms and conditions apply? You can get a classic burrito that comes with white rice and cheese, meat, sour cream and salsa, or an “IQ” burrito with black rice, no dairy and guacamole. Why can’t I just get a burrito with whatever toppings I prefer? Maybe I want a normal burrito with guacamole, cheese, lettuce, salsa, and white rice? Nope, that’s a special order. Chips and dip comes with a variety of dips, instead of the one you actually want. I wish there was more available choice there without having ask for special treatment. Want a drink? Your choices are unsweetened iced tea and....orange juice? A few bottled drinks are also available. Nothing mainstream. If you eat inside, the neon sign gives you the Kramer chicken joint syndrome. Two people can expect to spend about $25-30 for a meal. Not unreasonable, but personally my money is better spent elsewhere. Edit: Just an update after the store response. It’s not that the menu is difficult to navigate or that the employees didn’t explain things well. It’s that it’s more complicated than it needs to be, and employees shouldn’t have to explain things. Burrito, taco, bowl, or salad, rice choice, protein choice, topping choice and “premium” extra cost topping choice are all that needs to happen. Breaking burritos down into categories is weird. After I asked if I could have a “classic” burrito with guacamole, it was explained that it would cost more than an “IQ” burrito which includes it, but I also wanted cheese on my burrito, and white rice, so it was determined that a classic burrito with guacamole added was the more sensible option. There in lies the problem - that entire conversation didn’t need to happen. Tortilla. Rice. Meat. Toppings. That’s all that needs to be discussed. I understand that I can have anything on the menu “to-order” - but it’s not implied or explicitly mentioned. I feel like I’m being an annoying customer if I have to go off-menu to get what I like, so I get things as they are and put up with it. When asked what beverage options were available, no soft drinks were mentioned or displayed anywhere. I appreciate the mission statement of Zambrero - I think it’s a great thing. I also understand that they want to stand out from other burrito shops - but it’s okay, you don’t have to. What they do works because it’s simple. I don’t have to have a conversation about what burrito package is right for me at those places, and that’s why I like them.

Delicious food. Meat for the burritos is prepared sous vide, and this adds to the tenderness and moistness of the food. Love the menu, but be prepared to pay for it, and for the selections to be limited. A small percentage of all purchases is donated to feeding needy people, which is a plus. All in all, expect great food at a high price, at least for fast food.

(it's about 1-2 dollars more then a "meal deal" at a burger King or wendys fast food joint) wish they had a side of chips but would recommend this place to anyone who loves Mexican!

This food kind of reminded me of similar issues I had with the previous restaurant in that location, Boloco. It almost tastes the same. The food is ok if you take away any expectation of mexican. My husband ordered a bowl and I ended up with a quesadilla. This is the first food I've had in a few days and I don't know how that affects my opinion. The staff was great, helpful..and explained everything perfectly. I thought the spooned portions were small, but I'm not really in need of quantity. The price almost made me fall over, but not a make or break for the right meal. I finished my food, it was more taco than quesadilla, meat tasted kind of bbq esk and was oddly soft, but it was a good texture to what i needed, It was adobo season like.. My husband was not a fan. Brought some home to see if it would make better leftovers...underwhelming for him. His meat really tasted bbq (beef) but also not. Its a powerbowl. Charged way too much extra for guac, sour cream and *CHEESE*...a couple pinches of cheese. For a 11 dollar bowl it was 3 and change more... Overall, were not coming back. Its too much for food we do not enjoy.

First time I came my burrito wasn't bad, but it was a bit bland, overpriced, and cold by the time I got it home (I ordered from the drive through and don't live far away). There wasn't enough foil wrapping to ensure it stayed warm. Decided to give it a second chance tonight because my boyfriend really likes the food. The staff was very friendly and my food came out quick. However, when I got home I discovered I'd been given someone else's order completely (was just a burrito so it seemed fine until I bit into it). I had asked for chicken, but this was beef and had completely different toppings than I wanted. I'm not a picky eater so I tried to eat it, but the beef was so sweet and barbeque flavored that it was really unappetizing. Overall I'm underwhelmed and for the price of the food, I expected more. I most likely wouldn't eat here again.

Protip: If you have food allergies, be aware that there may be instances where cheese can come in contact with other food and find it's way in accidentally. Zambrero's mission and philosophy is part of a beautiful vision, as a portion of their costs get donated to helping end hunger. They do this by focusing on a simpler menu with a little bit more limited selection than the building's previous tenant. Their mission also separates them from a competitor across the street. Because of this, they deserve five stars, the food was tasty. However, four stars is what I will give to average out where a three star rating might be more suitable. The reason follows: I called ahead to get food, and was told that they would start the food in about ten minutes to be fresh and prepared for when I got there. 20 minutes later, I arrived and was excited to pick up food. There was nothing to be picked up, yet. However, they might have gotten busy between my phone call and my arrival, so I waited for it to be prepared. Over the phone, I requested no dairy. Cheese was placed on the first bowl that came out but was carefully pointed out by a vigilant employee. The bowl was made again, and it looked okay. Upon opening the bowl in my car, there appeared to be some remnants of cheese in the rice. My advice is, when you go here, do not be afraid to inspect your food before and be careful if you have dairy allergies. There is no need to be a jerk chicken about it, but lessons are learned when someone can make a mistake, get over the initial reaction to it, and put together a quality meal for their patient customer. After all, all of the people are at Zambrero's because they want hunger to be defeated, this is best done when working together! Oh yeah, the atmosphere was kind of industrial. A good place to sit and eat!

Best god damn burrito I’ve ever had! My first bite was filled with visions of unicorns, and butterflies dancing in my mind. For a moment, I saw Jesus, and he was also eating a zambrero burrito. We high fived, and I went in for my second bite. I’m typing this from the hospital after having my mind blown. But all seriousness aside, the food is great, the employees were awesome, and the place donates food with every meal made. You can’t beat it! Thanks guys!

I’ve visted Zambrero three different occasions and I’m very pleased with their service. Julius- who works the drive thru and takes orders is PHENOMENAL!!! He sets a great example of how customer service is done. He is patient while taking your order and very accommodating. I never feel rushed. He has great energy and is overall a pleasant person to deal with. That guy deserves a raise. The food is always fresh and prepared just how I asked. One critique is that sometimes the black rice can be hard. Overall it’s a great place for healthy fast food. I would highly recommend this place.

Didn’t love. I got a rice bowl(no meat) and they gave me such a small amount of rice I had to ask for more. And it was like that for everything they put in the bowl. Very small amount of food for a big price tag. The rice was also not cooked all the way,so there were a lot of hard pieces of rice. This made it a struggle to eat. I left there still hungry. I rather go to Quoda where they give you good portions for the price and you don’t leave hungry. I was also asked if I wanted a sauce on top of my bowl and I said yes thinking it came with the bowl and then at the register they charged me for it. I won’t be going back. Also $3.50 is over kill for 1taco. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. This is why they got 2 stars and not 1.

Liked the concept. Food is fresh but quantity seem a bit lesser and charge seem a bit higher when compared to other bowl places. Was surprised the way they charge for a veggie bowl. Kind of confusing and not very clear from the board. A place focused on such mantra should be frequented by lot of vegetarians. The hot sauce is amazing, highly impressed.

The reviews said it was excellent. I said let's try it and boy am I glad I did. This place is amazing. It is easily the freshest of all the Mexican fast food restaurants! Wow.. Guys you got this one right. Great, FRESH food, excellent service, and you give meals to those in need. It would be a disservice for you to drive by again (like I did so many times) without trying this place out. Wow. I was pleasantly shocked. So good. I'll be back. You just stole another customer from the people across the street. This food is on point. Ans the sauces are amazing. Wow. Great touch to an already perfect bowl. Spicy salsa verde. Yum! And black rice so good!!! ......you'll just have to stop in and see ;)

Overpriced, flavor was decent but the rice was complete mush. They charge a lot of money for guacamole and give you a very small amount. We ordered two bowls and paid for guacamole on both, one had about a teaspoon the other had about a tablespoon. I also ordered a kids meal which had barely any chicken on it and does not come with anything besides the item. The drive through cashier was very pleasant but definitely not worth the money. Won’t go back and wouldn’t recommend.

Mixed reviews indicate possible growing pains. I enjoyed my visit a lot, so I hope that means they are finding their feet. Excellent service and unique offerings. At this point, I think I prefer them to Chipotle. I definitely prefer them to Qdoba. I miss the huge list of available ingredients from Boloco, the burrito restaurant that preceded Zambrero at this location, but the general quality of Zambrero seems higher. Black rice is a great offering that is available nowhere else. At the very least, you should try Zambrero.

I found the food to be wonderful! The nachos are the best I have ever eaten. Each time I have ordered them I got the garlic sauce because taste is so good I do not need to try another! The burrito is very large. Employees here are respectful and courteous. The prices are too high. Customers are absorbing the cost of the free meals donated to charity, which is unfair because the company is taking the credit, and tax deduction.
