I went with a group of four last night for restaurant week. This was after we had a very disappointing experience at another restaurant earlier in the week. The food was expertly prepared, everything absolutely delicious! The drinks as well. But the service-that was off the charts! Our waitress was delightful and efficient, we waited for nothing. One of our companions has dietary restrictions and her needs were perfectly met. Unfortunately she started experiencing painful muscle cramps as a result of her medical condition, when her husband asked the manager for tonic water he quickly returned with both the tonic water and an orange freeze pop with electrolytes that they keep in the hot kitchen for their employees. What a great guy, what a great place! Well done Waterman Grille and crew, we will definitely return!

Excellent ambiance and cozy seating with windows facing the Blackstone River. Would suggest reservations. We had the three course menu for $29 which included an appetizer (golden lentils for us) a main course, I had the monk fish and my boyfriend had the sirloin hanger, and a dessert, Creme brûlée or fruit cake with sorbet. All courses were delicious and portions were generous! The server was incredibly attentive and friendly. We also had a bottle of white wine (which was only $20) in addition. Highly recommend this place for a date night or special dinner out. Will have to come back soon!

Food was awful. The burger was so bland. I have a sesame allergy, the only alternative bun they had was this chunk of cardboard they call a gluten free option. Bun aside, the burger itself was just cooked meat. Not even salt and pepper. My wife got the cauliflower salad meal with this nasty sauce just globbed in four "corners" of the plate. Food a presentation aside the staff was excellent. That's why they get 3 stars. They were very accommodating and polite. After a long wait for a table they bought us an appetizer. Which was the cheese plate and delicious. I will not be returning.

My new favorite spot! This gem is quickly becoming a weekly standard for me for everything from afterwork drinks at the bar, to intimate dinners, group dining with friends, and even business meetings! The staff is always incredibly friendly personable and accommodating, and the food and ambiance is incredible! Parking is a breeze and there are so many different spaces that feel private yet part of the scene. There is a private feeling fireplace nook table, tables along the waterfront windows, an active and fun bar area, and I can’t wait for the waterfront deck to open up. It feels exclusive yet inclusive. They have a wonderful 3-course prix fixe menu Sunday through Wednesday which is a fabulous deal at only $29!! All the desserts are amazing and the specials are usually incredible as well. I’m a huge fan and so glad to have found it last month! Don’t forget to sign up for the rewards program too - it’s nice to get dining credits back for all the funds I’m dropping here weekly now ;)

My husband and I have been coming here for a few years, especially for special occasions. They pay such attention to detail. We have hosted our wedding here, anniversary dinners, birthday celebrations, and the like. Service is exquisite. Tonight we had the pleasure of being served by Scott, a very pleasant and informative gentleman. Every dish we've ever had has been exceptional. So much thought goes into every flavor in each creation. They have affordable options, i.e prefix menus, burger and beer nights, and happy hour at the bar. Waterman Grille is part of the Newport Restaurant group and offer a rewards card.

Went here on a date with my then significant other. Such a beautiful environment, with a great waterfront view (mind you, we went there during the summer)! He ordered the salmon with sweet potato mash, and I ordered the steak. Absolutely loved my steak! The chimichurri with the steak was fantastic! We had the privacy as a couple, and enjoyed the view. Definitely recommend this place. Also, it's a little expensive, but worth it (especially if you are looking for an intimate time, great food and great view).

Neat and cozy upscale restaurant with a rich menu. Not only for lunch and dinner, also offers delicious breakfast/brunch varieties. Reasonable prices. If you care about view take a table by window overlooking the river, or just outside if it's not winter.

We made a reservation to entertain some business clients. I have visited in the past and always been very pleased with the food, service and ambiance. The Waterman team delivered again! The food in particular far exceeded my expectations. The calamari was perfectly cooked, tender with crispy coating and just the right balance of peppers. Octopus was expertly prepared. This was one of the most well prepared octopus dishes I’ve ever had. Monkfish entree had great flavors and many color and textural contrasts. Again a tricky protein to cook correctly and it was beautifully done. My fellow diners were also very pleased with the temperature and flavor of their meat courses. I also appreciate the professional demeanor and attention from the management staff. Just the right balance of privacy and attention. Highly recommended dining venue.

Perfect spot for some outdoor summer dining. Our server, Nate, was a perfect combination of friendly & knowledgeable without being overbearing. Food was local and fresh, beautifully presented and perfectly sauces/seasoned. I highly recommend the fish dishes. My only disappointment was the watermelon margarita with fresh watermelon puree...it was refreshing & tasty, but the watermelon didn't come through. The beer selection was great!

Fabulous meal and amazing service! Highly recommend! We split oysters, mussels, calamari with an aioli sauce and a grass fed burger. Everything was great! I love trying new IPA's and I was able to try one from Italy and it came in a unique bottle.

Went here on a visit home (we live in Maui now) at the beginning of December. Atmosphere was perfect; the restaurant is beyond cozy but not crowded in any way. I am chef and the open kitchen was awesome, we could see right in. The food was perfect and reflected the season perfectly. My roasted flounder with apples was plated beautifully and the taste was on point. Our waiter was fun but not overbearing and knew his stuff for sure. It was the perfect meal; a nice reminder of the flavors of home in a great little restaurant.

Wow, what a great dinner from start to finish! Two in our party had dinner from the prix-fixe menu. What a great deal for the delicious food, but you also get a bottle of wine per order. The golden lentil soup was outstanding, but the caesar salad disappointing. Both the flat iron steak and monkfish were fantastic. I had the Georges Bank scallops which were great. The crème brulee was great as well as the polenta torte, especially the fruit that were served with the torte. Our server was great and spot on. We will be back, especially for the prix-fixe menu offered Sunday to Wednesday.

We went here for a birthday brunch on a trip through Providence. Boy, were we pleased with the outcome! Reservations are suggested as it does get busy, it seems. We were seated, overlooking the water while we enjoyed an amazing experience. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was outstanding. The food was tremendous. We couldn't resist dessert and were even treated to the "Waterman Candy Bar" as an unexpected and very appreciated birthday surprise. Very tasty. We'll definitely be looking for reasons to travel back through Providence just so we can revisit the Waterman Grille.

Beautiful restaurant and such a cozy waterfront view. The drinks and the clam appetizer were you yummy, but the lamb was over cooked. I'd go back, but probably stick to the seafood dishes. (also, I was told I need to try the candy bar dessert, but had no room this trip.)

Excellent food, service and ambience. It was my wife and I's first time at Waterman Grille and our waiter Paul was very friendly and pleasant and had some good recommendations. Even though the food may be considered pricey, you certainly get what you pay for in flavor and portions. I had one of the chef's specials; Sweet potato gnocchi with walnuts, and it was amazing. My wife and I can't wait to go back.

Absolutely gorgeous restaurant with views of the river and delicious food. I've been here a couple times. Last night, we came for a corporate event that was catered. I couldn't eat any of the buffet food due to allergies and being diabetic. I discreetly went upstairs to order food that I could eat. After paying for the food, the manager greeted us at the door while we were leaving. He gave us a receipt and said he refunded me my money because he felt like he should have offered more food I could eat from the buffet. I had ordered salmon, spinach, and asparagus. It was cooked perfectly and tasted really good. I was more than happy to pay for my food. This manager's kind gesture truly touched me. It's not easy being diabetic and allergic yo so many different foods. It's hard, but this gentleman made me feel like I wasn't a pain at all. Totally unexpected service that went above and beyond. My husband and I will definitely be back. Thank you!!!

Stop by on our way to the sunflowers field. Service is very nice and friendly. Nice view. Got the crabcake Benedict which is good but I need some carbs. My friend got the grilled cheese mushroom which is pretty good, wish they added tomato. The fries was the best part. The sign was kind of small to notice at first but there is a big parking lot next to it. I would recommend this place. Only been for breakfast, not sure about dinner

Exceptional service and fine dining at it's best. Dress for the experience. Beach wear is not allowed. The management and staff are amazing and will go out of their way to make sure your dining experience is first class. Comfortable elegant feel inside or eat outside and enjoy views of the river and maybe catch Brown University Crew team practicing. Wonderful experience all around.

The setting is a wonderfully kept, former bridge gatehouse from 1871 -right on the Seekonk River. We started with a Bloody Mary that was rimmed with a combination of garlic, celery salt and pepper. The mixture had a great consistency and both the "heat" and temperature were spot on. Our party of four started with oysters and octopus. While the oysters were without a selection to choose from, there were six to an order and delicious. The octopus was arraigned on a pillow of diced cucumber and accompanied with a few slices of Chourico, cucumber-jalapeno relish, dried olives and cumin-lime crema. It was a great combination of flavors! For dinner, I really enjoyed the duck. It was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. The other members of our party had perfectly cooked salmon and lobster mac and cheese. Great portions, expected pricing and everything was delicious. The customer service staff was excellent and the Manager stopped by to ensure our experience was as expected. All and all... Great location, food and service. Don't pass on this little gem.

As with any of the other Newport Restaurant Group establishments, Waterman Grille is a place to have a special meal. The view of the Seekonk river on the East side makes you feel like you are away from the city. The staff, food and drinks are all top notch. Prices are typical of any similar upper-scale eatery. The decor is similar to an old mill or pump-house conversation with exposed brick walls with millwork finish and a subtle nautical vibe.

My partner and I are always impressed by the service and food at the Waterman Grill. One of the very few restaurants that were open on New year's day. We went for just a cheese board and drinks and our server was exceptional, he was extremely personable and friendly and had no problem with us being there for just a snack. Luckily it only got busy as we finished but we never felt rushed or unwanted. Thanks for a great time and looking forward to our next visit.

WOW!! What a gem this place is.. it’s tucked away (as tucked away as you can be in Providence anyways) right on the water. Very nice, as always, the other night, for a last minute destination on my friends birthday. Calimari is usually this ubiquitous, fairly reliable appetizer, but this was like rediscovering it all over again. Beet salad was extraordinary, of course. My friends Caesar was very nice with a good dressing, but, why get so much right, and then not even offer anchovies? A minor lapse for most (who would probably decline, anyway), but I happen to like anchovies, and they belong on a Caesar. My friends cheeseburger (yes, cheeseburger on his birthday) was excellent, and so was my lamb. All in all, a great dinner, good service, decent value. And consistent.

No problem with the food or service. I don't normally write reviews but I feel a warning is needed. This place has a major problem with break ins in their parking lot. They are aware of this but don't seem to do anything about it. There are no warnings about leaving bags in car, no cameras, no staff presence outside. It happened to us. The police and manager said it happens frequently

My husband and I chose Waterman Grille for our dinner venue after our wedding. We had a small wedding of about 20 people, but still wanted to have an elegant, formal dinner to treat our guests to after our ceremony. We were bringing an Italian and Chinese family together, so good food was very important to us. We tried a few elegant fine dining establishments around Providence that had a good fit for the size of our party, but were not particularly impressed with the food. We tried the food at Waterman Grille and knew it would be perfect. The manager showed us the different rooms that they offered, and The Loft was exactly what we wanted--it is a perfect mix of elegant and cozy. I worked with Tina to organize the event, and she is incredibly friendly and responsive. She made sure that everything was taken care of without making me feel overwhelmed, and the whole experience was much less stressful than I was anticipating! They have different wedding packages that made it easy to make the initial decisions, and afterwards Tina helped us determine the best format for the dinner and was so great with helping us implement the ideas we had to add a personal touch to the dinner. The servers were so friendly and accommodating during the dinner and everyone was very impressed with the food. The dinner turned out perfectly and the pictures that everyone took were lovely because of the beautiful room. I would highly recommend this restaurant and The Loft room for any smaller wedding party or formal event!

Our son and daughter-in-Law had their wedding at the Waterman Grille this past Saturday night! Wow, what a beautiful wedding! Very intimate with a nice ambience being near the water with the soft lights glowing outside! Absolutely wonderful!! Tina, Kim, and the entire staff did such an outstanding job! The service was way beyond our high expectations, very accommodating! The food and wine was excellent! All of our guests loved it! We cannot thank them enough for making their wedding so special! The Waterman Grille is a perfect blend of coziness and sophistication. I was happy to learn that they use locally grown ingredients in many of their dishes. This means that their menu offerings are fresh and helps support local farms! Our waiter, Dan, was incredibly friendly and knowledgable about the menu and wine list. The food here was great, but their real strength is their amazing staff. Someone bumped our table spilling the water everywhere. The staff and manager immediately swarmed around, without being called and began to clean up. Without saying anything, he got us a whole new cheese plate. Had a very nice meal. The place is cozy and the drinks are good. Had Octopus as a starter, however it was a bit overcooked, but would still recommend the dish since the chorizo is totally worth it. Main plate was cassulet. They did a very good job on that, as well as the goat cheese dessert. I would just suggest replacing the pears by peaches. Overall a great place.

I have been going for years and it's always been perfect. We had our baby shower here. What a beautiful room right on the water. It's was a brunch style and, again, was absolutely perfect.

Great view! I took took my sister here for brunch on her birthday and it was perfect. The staff was friendly and food was tasty. Just be sure to make a reservation to get a good window seat, it gets busy!

We went to celebrate my daughter's 20th birthday. Food was excellent and service exceeded expectations. Online, I mentioned the birthday, and, lo and behold, my daughter received a personalized birthday card and, later, a surprise complimentary dessert with a candle. One of my favorites. Small cozy restaurant upstairs. Lower level is open floor plan which they book out for private parties. Both floors offer great views of the river, and they have a waterfront deck in the summer. The wood-fired grill imparts amazing flavor into everything they cook on it. Service team is great too, ask for Paul.

Waterman Grille hosted my wife and I and our immediate family for a small family only wedding dinner celebration, and they were so hospitable, gracious, thoughtful, and excellent in all aspects of service and the food was superb. This is hands down my favorite most restaurant in all of Providence, and I try to keep finding occasions and excuses to come back. Absolutely love their location - it’s right by the water, with an outdoor patio seating that lets you enjoy the weather and have a great view of the Seekonk River and the Seekonk River bridge (which is somewhat of an iconic landmark in the region). The food is great and the food presentation done really beautifully. The service is impeccable, with the hosts and servers being a good mix of attentive but not bothersome. Lastly, don’t give their dessert a miss. They have quite a delightful spread for you to end your lovely meal with.

We were here for a graduation party. I had the chicken dish that was a little dry, my dish was prepared very nicely. The servers were extremely polite. The atmosphere was grand. I wld strongly recommend.
