Solid dining experience. Each course was timely with good flavor profiles. The atmosphere had a good positive energy with just enough of that "wonder if a mob hit might happen in this joint" flare to it. Service was spot on as usual. Manager stopped by to check on us and the cooks were humming along in the kitchen. The price isnt cheap (this the one star hold back. It goes between 4 & 5 each time) but it's a testament to "you get what you pay for".... place is a solid go-to.

Unbelievably amazing food!! I had the eggplant. Also tried the chicken Parmesan. Both were out of this world. The portions were insanely generous. I also had a small side of delicious summer squash and zucchini. Everything was great. Absolutely worth it!

Veal Saltimbocca was superb. Lobster ravioli was perfectly executed. Extensive wine list although the list for wine by the glass was a bit lacking. Get the peanutbutter cheese cake for dessert. Yum!

I had zero expectations nor had intentions of making this establishment my dinner destination 2016 Memorial Day Weekend. With some of the finest Italian & many of my usual haunts just 30 minutes north in Providence, why would I? Originally, we planned on trying the wood fired pizza at Pasquale's Pizza, but arrived to find an estimated hour wait. We opted to forgo the pizza on this outing & meandered across the street to Trattoria Romana South. We did not have reservations, the placed was jammin', & it looked a bit dressier than we'd hoped, but it all worked out. They found us a table for two without wait & our server had drinks in our hands in no time flat. The evening starter Cesar Salad was fresh & flavorful & include anchovies as a good Cesar should. Nice plump green leafy lettuce & just the right amount of tasty dressing. This offering can be found on the extensive menu with the following details: Insalata Di Cesare at $5.95 Fresh crisp romaine tossed with homemade caesar dressing, croutons & parmigiano-reggiano cheese, topped with anchovy filets. Our pasta selections were both great. The Pappardelle Alla Bolognese at $18.95 was a sizable serving that easily could have been two meals, but a big eater certainly good devour it without much problem. TRS described this dish as follows: Wide egg-noodle pasta served with our signature meat sauce made with ground veal, beef & sweet italian sausage, finished with a dash of cream & parmigiano-reggiano cheese. I would add that fresh the fresh pasta was delicate & well suited for carrying the smokey & flavorful bolognese. What a wonderful deli highly this dish was. A heavier & meatier dish than one might ordinarily select for a hot Summer kick-off, but this is the dish that I most commonly select to gauge others against. In the end, it was fabulous & the flavor profile was spot on. Another selection made by my wife was Spaghetti Alla Vongole Veraci at $19.95. A more suitable selection for a warm Spring evening by the coast of RI, this dish was offered in red or white sauce, which is a nice gesture. My wife selected the white sauce, which was she said was very flavorful & paired well with the spaghetti & local fresh clams. I personally did not sample this plate, but showed well from my vantage point. Here's what TRS offered regarding this selection: Spaghetti pasta sauteed with fresh littleneck clams. available in either a light marinara sauce or a garlic & white wine sauce with Italian parsley. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised with the evening's selection in both dining establishment & eating choice. I look forward to going back in the near future. Now I have an Italian favorite by my stomping grounds in SOCO. I would recommend this restaurant to both friends & family

On Thursday June 14 the dinner club dined at Trattoria Romano. We were the first to arrive and the bar had one seat available. I sat down and Mike stood. It took a few minutes for the bartender to get to us as it was quite busy. I think they needed another bartender. Ed and Jeanne arrived after us so I got up so they could order a drink. It was very awkward standing while waiting for other members to arrive so we decided to sit at our table which was prepared for us. It was a round table and perfect for conversation. We all started with calamari with pepper rings. I thought the calamari was a little tough and very hot with all the peppers

A very nice restaurant in Southern Rhode Island. The place was packed. There are a bunch of dishes on the menu. I chose the pork and it came out a bit overdone. Very nice staff the rest of my meal was executed very well. It could be 5 stars any other day.

The second you walk in it smells good, the inside is incredibly nice, the food was perfect, bread is always warm & fresh, my wife loved her watermelon sangria (enormous) and my margarita couldn't have been better. Jenna was the best waitress I've ever had at a restaurant. I've been to every location Luciano owns, and this one is now my favorite. The only, Tiny issue we had was we were seated in the bar area (not at the bar) and the bartender was too loud. It's not ok to yell from one end of the bar to the other end while talking to a customer who was also loud as hell, on a Sunday night for dinner at 7. But, just because she didn't belong working there, I would not take a star away from this review for it, everything else was great; like Jenna.

First class service well trained staff and very clean restaurant the prices are on the up side but the appetizers were not hot enough sent them back pasta was served way over cooked for my liking and the well done stake special was served medium rare still bleeding not what she ordered when she said well done sent it back to the kitchen for more fire time and when it came back she ate it all very good quality filet mignon.... Yeah I know who eats filet mignon well she does.... Over all we will be back Friday night or Saturday

So disappointing!!! It was a good start with the crusty warm Italian bread and our delightful waiter. It went downhill from there. The Caesar Salad was mediocre; the Gnocchi were mushy with missing ingredients listed on the menu; and the Veal Milanese was pounded so thin, all I tasted was bread coating. We were both served the same veggie. One dish was full and the other had 1/3 the amount. We were hoping for tea/coffee and dessert, but were not ready for any more unhappy surprises. It was laughable when someone offered to bring me two take out boxes, but I said I would put it all in one. She brought me a mini box that it would not all fit in. As we we're leaving, the hostess said, " See you back again." My reply, was "Very unlikely". There was silence and she never questioned my reply. I will never return for their overpriced & mediocre food. We were sorry we did not go to Spain or the newly renovated Coast Guard House.

The dish I ordered came out looking very good, while eating it i noticed the clams were extremely sandy. It was honestly like a shell full of sand. They corrected the issue with more sandy clams......... They did nothing about the meal being unenjoyable and in my opinion i wouldnt recomend anyone order seafood if you cant see the ocean....

Did not care for this restaurant. I've heard good things, maybe I came on an off night. The dining room is cramped, not intimate at all despite how they try to light it. The server was not rude, however, seemed not to care either. The bread service was burned. The prices are high and the quality was low. I had the carbonara which is supposed to be thickened with egg at the end of it's preparation, there's a bit of finesse to it. The egg on mine however, had been scrambled and did not bring anything to the dish, also it was swimming in oil. Overall I did not enjoy my experience.

I came here with a friend while waiting for our kids at URI. It was a short drive from campus. We were greeted right away but we chose to sit at the bar. Bartender was very friendly . She acknowledged us right away. The food was delicious! I had the chicken marsala which was amazing with their rustic bread and dipping oil. My friend had a yummy pasta dish. Both were served with a side of beans. I wish we had had time to stay for dessert! The second bartender, he was very friendly and provided great service. It is a very comfortable, inviting and friendly restaurant with excellent food, service and drinks. I would definitely recommend!

What a fantastic restaurant! Excellent service, a very well thought out menu. My server Matt obviously took the time packaging up our food, when I got back to the hotel I noticed he included bread and vegies, all individually wrapped and perfectly done. Knowing my girlfriend wouldn't get her birthday meal till later he made a special presentation of the cheesecake, complete with a candle! We really appreciated that Matt. Thank you.

FURTHER, THE 'FINAL POUR APPEARS SHALLOW AND FALSLY POMPOUS AS THE WINE QUALITIES ARE LAUGHABLE IN THE FACE OF THIS TACKY PRACTICE. CASE IN POINT: 'SIMI' CABERNET--- A $15 BOTTLE RETAIL AT BEST ---$13 PER ANEMIC GLASS AT TRATTORIA? A RECENT VISIT TO WESTERLY'S 'OCEAN HOUSE' YIELDED A GLASS OF PURE EXCELLENCE, 'CAYMUS'---$85 RETAIL--FOR $15 PER GLASS, SERVED FROM BOTTLE TO CRYSTAL. HOW UTTERLY OFFENSIVE. Disclaimer: last time I was here it was a very long time ago, so things might have changed. When I ate there we decided to sit out side, the waiter was ok but didn't really have much personality. We waited for 3 hours for our food! Idk if they forgot about us or what. It was the summer time/tourist season, but it wasn't even that busy. When our food came it was very disappointing. The pasta was chewy and kinda felt like it was undercooked and the sauce was really watery and it was just overall very bad.

We had a 7:30 reservation on July 30th, 2013. Dinner was finally served at 8:50 – just seconds before we were going to walk out. We did not have appetizers – that would have taken another 45 minutes. A group at another table asked for their check saying that they had had enough - it had been almost 2 hours and they had NOT gotten their dinners. When the manager was informed of the delays, he replied “I’ll take it under advisement”. My “advisement” – try the restaurant Spain in Narragansett. Service and food are wonderful!
