this is my favourite Asian eatery in providence- since I was coming here for a precollege programme, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to eat Asian food in the states. I felt super happy to find a korean restaurant here- the restaurant feels very homey and comfortable. The homemade food is really filling (in a good way) and I love the atmosphere here- it almost feels like as if i went back to Korea. There is a buffet of side-dishes next to the register and the food is not seasoned too harshly so that it loses the flavour. The food is served super quickly (unless it’s noodles since it requires more time to cook!) The lady that runs the store is super nice and friendly and has been making fresh kimchi everyday. It’s honestly the best Asian food store around the brown and risd universities. Definitely worth the money and is amazing especially if you are coming from an Asian country and can’t get used to the heavy seasoning. 감사합니다, 소반!! <3

Food was good, not great, but that's ok. Issue was the TV was playing a national geographic show showing animals violently killing and eating their prey - one of those shock-value shows. Maybe you like that, maybe you don't, but most people don't like it while they're eating

Disgusting. Food has no taste. Everyone got sick to their stomach the next day! This place should be shut down, I don’t know what the hell they are cooking back there, but it’s barely food.

Very small and cramped, it had the atmosphere of a food kitchen. The food is too expensive for what you get, I spent $34 for Bibimbop (which came in an unsightly metal bowl, they charge $1 extra for a stone bowl), Japchae, and a side of dumplings. They also expected a minimum 15% tip at time of purchase! All the food was just ok, but I'm used to Bonchon Chicken, so that's to be expected. Very small portions, I left still hungry. I won't go back again.

My first trip to Soban left me with an extremely satisfied experience. There was so many Korean dishes that I loved there that they cook. Kimbab. Ramyun. Dukbokki. I ordered my favorite Korean dish, the Jajangmyun and my boyfriend got an Eel Stone Pot Bimbimbap. We got veggie dumplings as an appetizer and helped ourselves to the open Bon Chon: kimchi, miso soup, and radishes (I loved that they had this!) The portions are huge and I loved that they had even more different types of protein/meat options than most other Korean restaurants. My boyfriend was excited that he could get a Bimbimbap with Eel. Everything was delicious and I would come here over and over again (despite hating Thayer Street parking).

The Stone Bowl Bibimap is so delicious. But the lady uses to maliciously charge you extra for the drink. So be careful with that and you'll be fine.

This place has horrendous food. I ordered the spicy cold noodles and the sauce was legit just gochujang. Had no topping and was bland and noodles overcooked. I would never go here for good Korean food. It is not worth the time or money. If you want to go to a good Korean place go to Den Den Korean fried chicken a few street down. Their food is amazing and portions are always generous.

Ordered food on Uber Eats and it took an hour and many changes of Uber drivers for me to decide something was wrong and they basically refused to fill my order because they were understaffed BUT my issue is the lack of communication. I spent an hour waiting to end up calling and they said they weren’t even going to try and fulfill the order because inside restaurant customers come first. Okay thanks I guess. Btw my order was over $90, it was only 6 items and I tipped the drivers well before I even got the food because of the many times I’ve eaten here I’ve actually enjoyed it.

At first the food seemed fine although the fried rice was pretty bland. HOWEVER, as I kept eating I found a hair in my tofu soup which was disgusting. Then I found a random short strand of ramen noodle in it, which didn't make sense as it is not a noodle dish. I assume that it came from another dish they cooked, which is very concerning to me since that means they don't really clean after themselves at all. I currently feel sick in my room after an hour and a half of eating and I feel like I might throw up at any second. I already threw up some of the soup a bit in my mouth a few minutes ago. I ordered because I craved Korean food, but this was honestly the worst food experience ever.

I did not have a good experience. It was my first experience and gave me the bad impression. I wasn't so crazy that I had to order and pay in the front desk and then get seated. I felt rushed because I had people waiting behind me. Then, I order two appetizers and two entrees. It was a saturday afternoon and they were two tables seated only in the restaurant and my order took 50 minutes. I work in restaurants and I'm not a fan to make a scene. But having two tables seated and food taking 50 minutes is not acceptable. Food didnt impress me either. I will not be returning.

Do not make delivery orders from this restaurant cuz it's not going to be delivered at the end of the day. What this restaurant would do was they confirm your order and then hours after they cancel your order and just let you starve without even giving an explanation. What's wrong with you Soban?

Interesting little Korean eatery. Not as high-style as others in the area, but it gets the job done when you're craving some hot-pot bibimbop. Nice little area to serve yourself miso soup, steamed veggies, kimchee, etc.
