You must have seen that the average of ratings is virtually the best one, and it is founded on a very high number of opinions, so we can think that the evaluation is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to value when they are happy, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put evaluations when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of New American restaurant.
My favorite restaurant in Providence. Staff is always so accommodating and makes great recommendations. My friend and I usually share about 5 courses and they never complain if we decide to add another one on mid meal. The food is absolutely amazing. I've never had a bad meal here. Thank you!
incredible food.... service was impeccable... will return...❤
Sophisticated and creative original menu. Highly recommended.
Excellent restaurant in the Brown University area with a less stressful vibe than some of the fine dining establishments in downtown Providence. The ambiance is relaxed and decor and color scheme gives the place a hint of a Japanese appearance. My partner and I ordered a la carte several dishes: two fantastic salads, pork belly, scallops, venison and the chocolate dessert and shared. The chef clearly understands ingredients and goes for simplicity and perfect preparation. Flavor profiles were direct and clean, and in every dish the excellent ingredients shone. We had two cocktails, one alcoholic and one not, both fantastic. The Beaujolais nouveau we had matched well with the rest of the dinner, the service was affable but not oppressively so, so overall a perfect dinner with thoughts of going back upon our next visit to Providence. Only one very minor misgiving was the olive focaccia served as bread. For such a refined dinner, a good crusty Italian or French bread would have been much a better accompaniment than a crumbly focaccia with superfluous olives in it. Also, I would skip covering the butter with salt and leave the diners the possibility of doing so on their own.
Service was excellent. We ordered 6 dishes between two people, and the server coursed it out as a 3 course meal for us. She was also extremely friendly and helpful with the menu. It was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable dinner dates my wife and I have been on recently. The dishes here are on the smaller side, somewhat similar to a tapas style, or for eating multiple courses. Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. We had a salad, and clam soup, then spaghetti Bolognese and papardelle with lamb meatballs, and finally pork shoulder and dry aged steak. The papardelle and lamb meatballs ended up being our favorite dish. The cocktails were also excellent, and the Three Guarantees is a must if you like Mezcal. It is definitely expensive ($225 for us) but it was worth it as a special treat for my wife's birthday.
Great place for a light meal and a good date. The food was good.
We had dinner there almost a week ago. The vibe was good, but the dishes we ordered weren’t impressive. One of us had a fish dish and had a very bad stomach ache, vomit, and diarrhea afterwards. Still in recovery!
Not bad. The staff were courteous, some more so than others, but a pleasant environment. The plates are smaller as that is their focus, more of a tapas or small-plate experience. I left hungry despite the number of courses. The execution of the dishes was what you would expect but nothing extraordinary. A little costly for the food but I think they we're adding in an entertainment and sourcing value, a bit more value than I saw in my experience. The dessert was a bit pedestrian for the effort that surely went into it's creation. Not bad but I would not make the investment for a large group nor return with the family.
Informal high quality dining with a limited but well done menu.
Amazing bunch with smoked salmon, gruyere omelet, banana and nut waffle, breakfast sandwich and chocolate cereal dessert. Drinks Virgin and not both excellentt. And there were donuts.
Top knotch. Excellent. Food. Service. A must .
My favorite restaurant in Providence. Staff is always so accommodating and makes great recommendations. My friend and I usually share about 5 courses and they never complain if we decide to add another one on mid meal. The food is absolutely amazing. I've never had a bad meal here. Thank you!
creative menu served attentively in a beautiful space. Sommelier helped us pick a wonderful extra dry champagne. Pumpkin buttered lobster risotto and RI black bass were delicious as was my spouse’s bolognese and her sweet potatoes. Desserts are a perfect ending to a lovely evening.
delicious food, cozy ambiance
Food was amazing and priced very reasonably.
Good food and service. Menu is limited and if you are hungry lots of orders are required. We ate at the “kitchen bar” that views part of the food prep area, definitely an enjoyable experience. I’ll be back for sure.
Five of us came for a birthday celebration and 2 of us split the $100+ dollar for two steak. No problem with the portion but It came smothered in butter and that was not specified in anyway on the menu. I hope I don't sound out of line but I feel if I'm going to pay $100+ for a steak you can let me know exactly what you're going to do with it. I would have asked another one but it specifies that it takes 45 minutes to prepare and it's so expensive that I would have felt poor doing so. Maybe that's my fault but I didn't have another hour for the evening.
The menu consists of smaller size plates (but not as small as tapas) - three plates was a good amount for one person not to fill too stuffed or too hungry. Foie gras and oysters nade a nice appetizer, then a small bowl of scallops chowder ( I would have liked it better without the sausage which overpowered other delicate flavors,). Main entree of hanger steak and lamb three way we're well prepared. The atmosphere would have been pleasant if we did not have a crying baby bellowing continuously and throwing things on the floor for the entire length of the dinner. I know the restaurant is not to blame, but it did have an effect on the entire dining room of people.
Every course was excellent. Well-developed dishes that were also well-executed. Will definitely be back; highly recommend.
The place is definitely nice and the food is very good. What is wrong? The quantity, we were 9 and all of us had too little. Also the price is far too high. Drink (for me non-alcoholic cocktail) was unremarkable.
Amazing restaurant with top notch food and service. Probably the best restaurant in Rhode Island.
incredible food.... service was impeccable... will return...❤
Lisa was fabulous so welcoming made us a perfect spot for our special late valentines dinner. Bartender so welcoming and so knowledgeable! Wow do they make a good drink. True mixology ! Food absolutely incredible. So fresh. Flavors out of this world! Each course was well proportioned perfectly. Complements to the chef AND his amazing staff! Every staff member tonight made a difference tonight to us and our over all experience. You can tell they all work together well. I’ve always worked in the industry and only wished for the team work ! Second time I’ve been in three weeks can not wait !!!... for my fourth ! Chef choice it is next time for sure. Thank you persimmons for making our special night much more rememberable to us ! See you soon !
Great place with amazing food. Just pricey. But definitely worth a visit.
Very good ingredients well prepared. Great service. One of the best restaurants in Providence.
Fantastic meal on PVD restaurant week.
Delicious
The food was good, a little on the expensive side, the chicken cordon blue, needed a little more flavoring. The fish plate was good.
I went to Persimmon for dinner and I can only say that the experience was outstanding. From the attention to the service from the servers. To the sommelier(Steffen) who is there to guide you and teach you thru the dining experience offering the best choices to pair with your food. The food is just outstanding. They do not follow the usual concept of appetizers, entree and dessert. You are free to choose different options from the menu and make an meal out of it. I can only say that all the choices we tried were outstanding. The portions were perfect size to try and the flavors were just delicious I definitely will be going back for more
Absolutely fantastic, the experience was worth every penny. The server was extremely helpful and advised exactly what was best, I couldn't have been more pleased. This was for my girlfriends birthday dinner, thank you Persimmons!
Love the black spaghetti and valina cheesecake very much. Will definitely visit again!
Love it! Super interesting, top quality food in a really cool place!
Amazing!
Absolutely fantastic, the experience was worth every penny. The server was extremely helpful and advised exactly what was best, I couldn't have been more pleased. This was for my girlfriends birthday dinner, thank you Persimmons!
Very small portions-consequently very expensive.
Went here with my partner last night. Flavors and creativity through the roof! The portions could be increased a bit, or perhaps there could be a choice for a small size and a larger size. Especially for the salads. But this is because the food was really good, and we wanted more! The place was also a bit too dark for my tastes, but the ambience was really lovely. Perhaps Christmas decorations too close to Thanksgiving, but this is coming from someone who does not enjoy Christmas so much. Looking forward to the next visit!
Great food. We did the tasting menu. Everything was excellent and the server was so knowledgeable about how the food was prepared you might think he made it himself.
Great service from the waiters to the food runners, amazing drinks, and delicious food.
Small plates, we enjoyed it very much.
Chef's tasting menu with wine paring is a must do.
grand, just there for cocktails...
Great food. Very small portions. Cold atmosphere
Just a magical evening! The service was outstanding! Possibly the best we've ever had. Attentive, but not overly so. Knowledgeable, but not pretentious. Caring and thoughtfulness with the utmost sincerity. Now, the food...good Lord, you have shined your heavenly light upon me in the form of black truffle beignets. Nary a moment has passed since my last bite that your velvety waves of ambrosia have ceased to crash upon the shoes of my consciousness......... What happened? I blacked out there for a minute. Oh yea, the food...eat here...overeat here...overeat here often. We'll be back down as soon as we can be.
A true shared plate menu. Definitely worth a trip to enjoy little bites packed with bold flavors.
Four of us visited Persimmon during restaurant week. Our server was very pleasant and helpful, and the food was supurb. The chicken was perfectly cooked, moist throughout, nowhere better. The scallop fritter appetizers I would have again - unusual and very tasty. The flourless almond cake with cherries was different, and a nice change from predictable desserts. The only drawback was the noise level, due to all the hard surfaces - nothing absorbed any of the chatter. When we mentioned to the waitress that we could not hear her explanations because of the noise, she said she would do what she could. She came back to report that they had turned the music down. We thought, "What music?" Even that was drowned out by the din of the many conversations. Persimmon is clearly a popular place, and with good reason. It is just not a place for enjoying table conversation.
Love the black spaghetti and valina cheesecake very much. Will definitely visit again!
(Translated by Google) Value for money not exceptional. Card of any wine. It's good but can be a little expensive. (Original) Rapport qualité-prix pas exceptionnelle. Carte des vins quelconque. C'est bien mais peut être un peu cher.
Great food, great service.
A creative new addition to the neighborhood. East Providence's Chef Champe Speidel amused and delighted us with his five-course tasting menu and exceptionally paired wines. Service was flawless. Persimmons is a favorite!
Amazing , delicious , trendy
Great ppl, tasty food and good selections from the bar.
Very nice cocktail list. Frieldly service. Food was very good. The smaller plate choices were.the highlight as was the fact they had a Txakoli on the list.
Perfect!

Love it! Super interesting, top quality food in a really cool place!
Appetizer, dessert, and service were as you would expect. Entrees, however, left much to be desired and were even disappointing.
Needs no review one of my favorite places! Never been disappointed always leave with a food high!
Once again we ordered the chefs tasting menu and it did not disappoint. what did was when asked if we wanted the fois grois course or pasta course that this was a $25/each increase in the cost. It wasn't worth the extra now will be return feeling this was deceptive to your patrons. Plenty of other restaurants will get our business instead.
We went for Sunday brunch. One of our favorites (when they were in Bristol); first time here. Wonderful knowledgeable waitstaff in casual but not slovenly space. Dishes prepared for you, unlike many brunches. I had a soft cooked duck egg buried in vegetables and shredded duck confit, which was unctuous and delicious. A friend enjoyed spaghetti Bolognese (we have had the Bolognese many times and wish it we're still available to stock up for home use).
Great food, great waitstaff.
Lovely restaurant with friendly staff and a good vibe. The kitchen is very competent but the food feels a bit soulless and the portions are small. Extensive wine list.
This is a terrific restaurant. The spaghetti bolognese was so good I ordered it again, for dessert. Not kidding!
Food was eclectic and fun. Sharing plates and waiters suggestions nailed it.Service was quick and helpful. Can’t wait to hit the lottery and go back$$$$$
persimmon is hands down one of the top three restaurants in providence and not as expensive as the other two. please do yourself a favor and go here ASAP!!!!
Quality designed dishes with seasonal product. Our waiter was great at knowing the Dishes and even giving some recs. For while in town. My favorite dish was the seaweed. Dishes are on the smaller side.
Excellent food for sharing - likely best in a group of 3 to 6.
Outstanding. We'd been to the Bristol location many times. Persimmon was one of our all-time favorites. This was our first visit to the Providence location, and the tasting menu was as good as we remembered, possibly better. The staff were very friendly - excellent service. It was our anniversary, and they made an extra effort to make it special (one example in the photo). Finally, just after we'd left, they called me because I'd forgotten my sunglasses - thank you, Persimmon! Still one of our all-time favorites!
Went here for a private party, and the staff was incredible! They were all very nice and open to conversation, while being very professional. Great experience!
Great wine selection and pairing. Food is also good.
Lovely restaurant with friendly staff and a good vibe. The kitchen is very competent but the food feels a bit soulless and the portions are small. Extensive wine list.
I enjoyed here a lot. The ambiance was very nice and service was also great. The plate was small but all of them are worth it. Furthermore cocktail was special and tasty. It was really hard to choose menu cuz there are lots of menu I want to try. Oh...I gonna go there again and try other menu:) My favorite of what I ordered was octopus!
Mia and I loved the rigatoni! It was delicious! Loved the small plates!
One of my favorites in RI. Sitting at the chef's table is a treat.
Always something new to try
Best food in Providence. Truly.
Excellent food, for real five star. Service and menu. Expensive but worth it.!!!!!!!
small portion delicate food
The best meal I have ever had hands down. Servers were all great and very attentive.
Wife and I had a fantastic meal with the tasting menu. Staff was attentive all evening and knowledgeable, but didn't come off as pretentious. The salmon dish we had was stellar - super fresh and served with smocked roe. We'll be back here for sure.
This is a terrific restaurant. The spaghetti bolognese was so good I ordered it again, for dessert. Not kidding!
Quite underwhelmed the past few visits. Food has been small and not prepared or presented to a place of the calibre it should be. Visit Vinya or Birch for a similar, superior meal.
One of the best places in New England! Unbelievable!!!
Sit at the bar, let Britney choose your drinks.....uber home.
In this larger space, Persimmon has really flourished. Fresh, upscale local food is prepared and served with heart. Try the chef's tasting menu, you won't regret it!
A culinary delight
Probably one of my worst experiences at a nice place in Providence, when my table was ordering drinks my server ignored me and walked away when the other members of my partt ordered drinks. The food came out in different order of which I asked for and came out wrong both times which took a while to fix. The food however was very good and dessert was excellent I'd definitely try again but was very disappointed with my current experience.
Food was good, but after spending $100 we ended up going to a bar afterwards to eat nachos. The portions are too small. You have to be prepared to order a lot of courses if you go here.
A much larger dining area than the Bristol location. As usual, Champ brings the culinary thunder, the drinks are outstanding and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. A must dine in the Providence area.
Delicious food at reasonable prices. Excellent establishment for a special occasion.
Excellent food and cocktails, fine dining experience with a surprisingly affordable check.
This is where you go in Providence for Michelin star level quality of service and fare.
Culinary delight!!!!
This restaurant is truly on a different playing field. The food is exceptional and the tastes are varied. Do not expect to be overstuffed when you leave, but comfortably full.
Amazing wine and food recommend the pairing!
The food was amazing. Very well thought out menu that is seasonal. The only issue I had was with the service. When customers are still enjoying their bottle of wine, don’t put the check in front of them.
Great food and staff
The Chef's tasting menu and wine pairing are the bomb!
Fantastic food. Creative dishes that don't get lost in their creativity. Attentive service. Favorite spot in Providence.
Great small plate. So creative.
Delicious meal! Great ambiance!
The food never disappoints. Neither does the service. Both are outstanding. I do wish entrees came with even a tiny side vegetable though.
Wonderful atmosphere. Creative and daring cuisine.
Always a divine pleasure eating and drinking here. Flavors, presentation, and service all top notch
Amazing!
Pretty good tasting menu, but I would go a la carte the next time around. This is the first tasting menu I've seen with multiple dry-aged dishes, and I think it worked out very well for them. The dry-aged duck breast was one of the better duck dishes I've had. The dry-aged beef strip-loin was the highlight of the menu - very flavorful and paired well with it's accompaniments. The service itself was odd. I've found it extremely rare for a restaurant to open up at 5pm and literally unlock the doors at 5pm.
My husband and I went there for restaurant week. The place was busy and the food sure explained why. I would definitely come back!
Perfect Persimmon New location and menu are fantastic! Persimmon was one of the first restaurants to introduce us to the wonders of the Rhode Island New American cuisine. We first enjoyed Persimmon in Bristol a number of years ago. Our evening at the new Providence location last night was spectacular! We started with the venison tartare, had the scallops and oyster-three-ways, then the two striped bass dishes before finishing with a pasta. Everything was superb. They were all prepared so carefully and were so delicious. The local strawberries for dessert ended the evening perfectly. Wine selections, by bottle and by glass, were extensive and matched our meal choices extremely well. Service was perfect: Emily (?) was interested and helpful, but not too intrusive. The new restaurant was beautiful and spacious. Definitely one of my favorites out of the many superb Providence restaurants. Highly recommended.
Best place in RI for a nice dinner!
Absolutely amazing dining experience every single time we go, chef Speidel raises the bar with every meal. The drink menu is outstanding and the new location in Providence has so much more room for seating.
An absolutely delightful place to eat. Go there to experience food!
Excellent
Absolutely flawless
I had great dinner last night. Since I've persimon at bristol 2012, I was big fan of here. And I came back New place, food was very good. First of all, me and my wife ask chef's tasting course and I asked wine pairing. She just drink glass of wine from rhone france. It was good choice. Before we start course meal, they served Couple of amuse. 5 course meal was very satisfied to me. Chicken, lam was delicious. Before we get dessert, We add soft shell crab and half dozen Oyster. Fresh and Juicy taste. All foods, service was great!
Pasta was barely warm, very salty, small portion. Was asked if we wanted bread, given plates and butter knives but bread never came. People next to us got their bread as we were wrapping up. Okay service, needless to say. Wanted to like the place but really there was nothing particularly great about being here. I like the vibe of the other location they were at before much better. Maybe it was just an off night for them?
Valentine's day meal was great from a prix fix menu, every dish was meticulously crafted, though my partner's selections were definitely better than mine, especially a bucatini dish with truffle shavings that blew us away. Need to try their regular and brunch menu!
This is a very good restaurant; however, there are a few things that hold it back from deserving five stars: - The ambiance is not too great: the space does not feel intimate and the décor is hit-or-miss; - The service was a bit too polite, bordering on overbearing/unctuous; - The pacing of the meal was uneven: some pauses between courses dragged on for a tangible length of time. These are relatively minor gripes – the quality and presentation of dishes here is high by any measure.
I had dinner here with my friends the other night. I had the striped bass which was cooked to perfection and present beautifully. We splurged on the Dark Chocolate Semi Freddo which was worth every calorie. Go here for a yummy meal.
Food was good, but after spending $100 we ended up going to a bar afterwards to eat nachos. The portions are too small. You have to be prepared to order a lot of courses if you go here.
Small plates of excellent food, good service. Very fancy! Think foie gras, sweetbreads and pork belly. If you want to splurge this is a great choice.
They were getting worse and worse recently
