REVIEWS OF CAV Restaurant IN Rhode Island

Janet Baluik

Had my daughters Bridal Shower there , and can’t say enough good things about it. The plated brunch plates were amazingly delicious! The room was absolutely beautiful and Jason our server went way beyond my expectations! Highly recommend Cav if anyone is looking for a place to hold a function !

Mary Rivera

Meal was delicious, atmosphere is very eclectic, service was not incredible. Our server continually forgot drink orders and he wasn't even very busy as we could see him standing at the bar chatting with a coworker. For an upscale restaurant it is expected that wait staff are going to be attentive and prompt with your requests.

Jackie Dubose

Service was good, food wasn't. Calamari was chewy and overly spicy. Risotto was awful and the dessert was covered in hershey's syrup. Gross.

mo bufatti

Great place. Service was quick and we had a wonderful brunch.

Daniel Bedoya

If you're planning to come try making reservations!. The restaurant is just beautiful, our waiter was very nice and polite and gave some really good service. The food was pretty good and the drinks were amazing A bit pricey but reasonable definitely a place to Check out

My husband and I had the most amazing dinner last night at CAV's restaurant! The ambiance was wonderful! We waited at the bar, which I loved and just watched them all work their magic. Our waiter Jonathan and our busser, ( I wish I knew his name), were so attentive. The appetizer, (butter poached 1/2 lobster), was absolutely delicious! Our meals were spectacular and cook to perfection...Scallops & Filet Mignon. The evening truly gives me a warm happy feeling of memories from my Birthday celebration. Thank you all!

Conny Tran

Good food great service!

Puja Mehta

Came here for lunch. Amazing food, good drinks, and one of best decorated restaurants I've been to. Pretty reasonably priced for lunch.

Elianise Marines

I love it my mother also loved it for her mother's day it was so nice so good and it has really nice service and I love the decorations ❤️

Willy B

The ambience was nice until the waiter started sweeping the stage and spreading dust on us. Lunch was ordinary and dessert delicious.

Chloe French

Went here for my family birthday dinner on the 4th of July and it was incredible! Some of the best table service I've received in my life, and the food was to die for. Thanks Cav!

Dawn Blake

Great food, great atmosphere and the best service from Johnathon.

Casey Lake

Went on Saturday Afternoon around 3:30 to eat and get some drinks. It started out well, and the food was great, but as soon as a shift change and a new bartender came in, we were completely ignored. Its not like you could miss us as it was not very busy. After the initial bartender left, the next one didn't acknowledge us for a good 30 or 45 min until we finally asked for our bill. Bad service at the bar would have been better than no service.

Gabriella Cardoza

Wow! What a beautiful place! It is a gem in the rough. The food was plentiful and delicious. The staff were pleasant and fast. I have been telling all my friends. I cant wait to go back.

Jason Smith

Scallops and shrimp were awesome as was the calamari appetizer.

Carolann Soder

Great variety for lunch...eclectic atmosphere...good friend...priceless

Thomas Cavanaugh

Been here twice now and loved it both times.

Charles Hart

I simple love visiting this place because it never fails to satisfy my hunger and my mood and the quality, service and atmosphere everything is just perfect.

Garrett Andritz

Appetizers: mussels, cheese, calamari - Great Main: Award winning chicken and dumplings - Just ok Great atmosphere, had almost an antique store feel. Good service.

Devlen Legrand

A wonderful evening. Great service and stunningly good food! Years go by and this place still is special. We were a large party (9) and received attentive service from Nico, and the busboys were always swinging by with water refills and removing finished plates. ( Something that matters to me). Food was outstanding. In the group we had Scallops and Shrimp with risotto, steak special, salmon, Pappardelle, and we shared many apps- Calamari had a nice peppery touch, Bruschetta was excellent, as were the chive dumplings. Thanks for a fine experience. We'll be back soon.

Nicholas Garza

Pricey, but the food is excellent. However we were seated outside, which in itself is fine, but the service was pretty garbage as a result

Emre Yalchin

A hidden gen near downtown Providence. Beautiful setting with a rich selection of objects from the Old World. Rich variety of food -and delicious.

Robert Rounds

Great food & service, FANTASTIC Menu

Mark Andresen

Tucked away on a side street, enter through an alley way, step down into another world. A mix of antique shop and speakeasy; shelves adorned with Egyptian cats and Victorian charm. Perfectly trained and exquisitely staffed. International epicurian delights and tasty beverages. Wonderful escape from the humdrum of pub fare and mediocrity. Perfect for a romantic first date or anniversary dinner.

Igrid Fashingbauer

Excellent food. Great service, friendly staff. Worth a try.

Jennifer Kim Zeller

You can't go wrong the scallops, perfectly seared and sitting atop risotto with a subtle flavor of lemon zest. Also enjoyed the bruschetta and coconut shrimp appetizers. Our server made excellent wine recommendations.

LiL

Was a great atmosphere and food and the waiter was outstanding!!!

Sarah Brousseau

CAV never disappoints. All meals are amazing here and they make great cocktails. The decor is eclectic and beautiful (and for sale).

gene welsh

Great brunch Quality service

Gary Swanson

Wonderful ambiance, VERY friendly staff and the food was incredible.

Jack Seib

One of the best little restaurants in RI. Never been dissatisfied, despite the cost. Good wine list, excellent staff, and tasty dishes leaves one feeling that high priced meals can be worth it after all. Forget about Federal Hill, try this place. Get a reservation. Hopefully, they won't get fatheaded and blow it.

Leslie Montagne

I try to be a fair reviewer, and detailed too. I was there at 5:15 on a Friday night before a PPAC show. This was my first visit; I am in my early sixties, a seasoned restaurant visitor and traveler. We had reservations. Table for six people. The servers looked harried. The place was slammed. CAV was crowded and noisy and this is not a restaurant you're going to have any privacy or quiet conversations in. Just be aware that it is an "open" venue. The food portions are not generous for the price. I had brussel sprouts as hors d'oeuvre s and they were OK. Unfortunately the salmon disappointed. In addition to it being dry and overcooked, the "red bliss potatoes" were also overcooked and there were maybe six or seven small pieces of potato on the plate. My general impression is that dining here is not worth the pricey menu. Our dinner came rather late and we only got to eat about half before we had to hurriedly leave for the show. Maybe Friday/Saturday nights are not best times to eat here(?). I won't be returning.

Sunday brunch on our way to cape cod, conveniently right off the interstate and excellent service and food was great! Highly recommended and very interesting and eclectic sights.

Experience Rhode Island Tours

Consistently delicious food made with tender loving care, and outstanding customer service in a warm and attractive environment.

Dan Alves

Settled in a brick building, in an off the beaten path location. The decor is populated with antique statues and masks which adds to the difference. The dress code is casual and the food was delicious. Our wait person was attentive and more than pleasant. Table 201 is on a two step platform and separated from the busyness of the main floor. Definite return for us and recommended for all.

Erin Perrino

This is one of the cutest places I've ever been to. All the beautiful antiques and decor and chandeliers are for sale and they make the atmosphere so cozy and endearing. Food is excellent and they were also very accommodating with making vegan-friendly options. The mushroom bruschetta was out of this world! And they make a mean martini.

Karen Campopiano

Food was delicious and Kurt was the absolute best!

Halit Pinar

Still a nice lunch experience. The food is good and fast enough for business purposes.

Julie umana

Yummy food and drinks. Fair priced

Diane Bedrosian

Beautiful atmosphere.Food is great.

James Bryan

Slow but nice service.

Lori Willis

CAV is special. A true hidden gem in every way. The decoration is so cool, it immediately gives you a cool vibe that continues through your meal. The food is as special and creative as the surroundings around you. The professional , classy waiters just elevate the atmosphere. I am always looking forward to visit CAV, it is my highlight of staying in Providence.

heidikearney1069

Fantastic ambiance, impeccable service, food is 5 star!!!

Alexandra Rey

Amazing food as always

Alison Kan

I came for Providence Restaurant Week and had the prix fixe menu with my family. We got the fried cauliflower (really good, but additional charge to prix fixe) and the goat cheese croquettes (interesting, on the regular menu) as appetizers. I was a little disappointed that for the prix fixe menu, the only choice that you really have is the entree. The only first course is the mesclun greens salad, and the dessert is blackberry merlot sorbet. I had mixed feelings about the entrees. My duck confit was really good; however, I also tried the cornmeal encrusted cod, which was pretty bland, as well as the sirloin steak, which was nothing amazing. And for the dessert, it turned out to be raspberry sorbet, which was good, but different from the original prix fixe if you were looking forward to it. Overall, food (at least off the Restaurant Week menu) was just okay. But I would come again to try the regular menu and for the interesting atmosphere/decor and nice servers.

Danielle Weiss

The atmosphere is the best part about this place. The food is usually great but not consistent. Last visit my salad was overdressed and the soup was sickeningly sweet. Regardless, there is a great selection on the menu and great cocktails.

Jack Netter

Ok - this place is a little tough to find if you don't know the area, but it's well worth it. (My first time in Providence) It's a very cool room and our server was great. We we're a party of three and each of us loved our meals. We ordered a cod special which was prepared perfectly, and a beautifully prepared and plated salmon fillet. I ordered chicken, which I never order in a restaurant, but it was great. The neighborhood was pretty much deserted on that Saturday night, but once we found the place, we we're glad we did!

Jonathan Williams

The food is fantastic!

Cathy Gann

Fantastic dinner. Our server Niko was the best!!!! Visiting from PA, so glad our friends suggested Cav!!!

Andrew Kan

We came during the Providence Restaurant weeks hoping to get a nice meal at a more affordable price. When we first walked in, I saw the interesting and unique decor, which was great. The restaurant week menu was quite limited as you could only choose a main dish and for an extra $5, cauliflower or Brussels sprouts. The other restaurant week places I tried all let me choose a dish for each course. I had to get the mesclun greens and the raspberry sorbet (different from posted menu). They tasted good, but I expected a better dessert for the $30 price. For the main dish, there was mushroom & truffle ravioli, cod, steak, and duck confit. My cornmeal encrusted cod did not have much flavor, but the duck confit tasted much better. The service was pretty slow, and they took a long time to take away our dishes from previous courses. Other than their great decor, I was very disappointed with their service, menu, and food considering the price of this upscale restaurant.

Jarrod Winsor

Great food, cool atmosphere.

Armen Moloian

Soup was cold, service was slow, and all the "artifacts" could use a good dusting. Food, while gormet, did seem to lean heavy.

Rachel Keen

Stressful from the moment we walked in. The host was flustered and rude which threw us off right from the start. Once we were seated it took a while for anyone to come help us. We had just decided to leave when the waiter came by. We stuck around to give it a shot since we had heard good things about the food. My date enjoyed his chicken, but my scallops were disappointing and unevenly cooked. I felt rushed the whole time until we had to wait for the check.

Barbara Marsden

Excellent wait staff, great food, nice atmosphere; able to have a conversation with the people in your party because background noise wasn't overwhelming.

Michelle Solitro-Fitzgerald

Staff kept dropping dishes and the service was extremely slow. Pretty place though

James LaSalle

Excellent food. Great service. Accommodating bar. Very appealing bohemian type atmosphere. Lots of art and tapestries

Paul Cabral

I liked it but with reservations. Atmosphere was great. Staff was great. But food was a little strange. Risotto was very different than ive ever had. 3 out 3 in my group that ordered as well as several others who tried it didnt like it. One dish was very spicy or rather over peppery while most dishes were slightly bland. Everything was fresh and appealing to look at but my dish was a little boring. My wifes filet was excellent and cooked to perfection. Everyone in group agreed it was the best dish served out of 20. Although it is on the more pricey side for dinner out i think it to be well in line for what most other upscale restaurants charge. In fact for what we all had i think it is well worth trying and i will try it again

Jeffrey Anderson

Excellent food for a party of eight. Each person chose different items. All gave high marks for taste and visual beauty. Service is prompt, friendly and took excellent photos. The dining room setting is open and visually appealing. Great lighting and yet not too bright. Desserts were all wonderful.

K Holce

We were excited to try CAV as there were a number of our brunch favorites on the menu. The food and experience were good, but nothing stood out as extraordinary. We had the lobster bisque with lobster chunks. The bisque was thin and did not have a lot of flavor. There were a number of lobster chunks. Some that were big enough to require using the spoon to cut them. After the chunks were gone neither of us were interested in finishing the bisque. The brioche French toast was good, but lacked the hint of vanilla, cinnamon, or nutmeg that generally put it over the top. It was covered in syrup, which made it at least sweet. The crab cake was the best item, but not over the top delicious. The patio is lovely. If someone wanted to go to CAV, I would accompany and try new dishes, but otherwise would probably not return.

Jeremy Connors

Lovely decor, great salad and a wonderful dessert

KIM HOY

Place is trying to be special and almost hits the mark. Almost.... place is eh, food is eh, and the drinks.. eh. Not bad first time but wouldn't come back or go out of my way.

Richard Mullin

Pricey but good

Jacques Lintereur

Excellent dinner ! I have a restricted diet and they were willing to accommodate me. Thank you CAV

Fran Prina

Went to CAV to celebrate our friend's birthday. My husband had randomly found the restaurant searching for a place to go. What a find! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is kitschy but pretty and the service is good. We will be going back to try more of their menu - it was so hard to choose.

Jonathan T

We came in with a large party and received top notch service from our server Tom. The appetizers and dinners were excellent all around, as were the cocktails and wine.

Todd Robert

Great food, excellent service and interesting decore

Richard Morse

Swordfish on special was awesome as was the creme brulee!

Sherri Carola

Joyful experience

Shiraz Ritwik

Excellent ambience if you like an ornate decorated look surrounded by antiques. The restaurant is also an antique shop that has been around for 30 years. Their take on salmon was interesting - they combined it with lychee fruit. My wife didn't appreciate the pink center of the salmon, though I found it to be alright. In summary, a fine dining restaurant that'll set you back $70-80 for a meal for 2.

Christina Siwy

Excellent food in service in a romantic atmosphere. Still one of my favorite restaurants in Providence. A classic.

Ed Iannuccilli

Outstanding in many ways. Check the antiques

Angelique Pope-Meas

My favorite restaurant hands down! From the service to the amazing food! Sylvia is truly missed but her Son is carrying on the tradition! Outstanding!

Taylor Cook

The atmosphere is intriguing and the multitude of layers could keep you occupied should your date go sour. The different seating locations are a favorite and the staff was wonderful. Parking is simple and drinks were great. Will be returning ASAP!

Scott Callas

Creative décor and great food that amounts to an excellent atmosphere.

Johnny Stevens

Highly eclectic atmosphere with unique and flavorful menu. The decor is equal parts Mayan, African tribal, and Victorian. Good balance of crowded, busy vibe and allowance of intimate conversation. They are able to move tables for larger parties, and they have a separate section for private receptions. The encrusted Ahi tuna was perfection with a smooth and subtle wasabi aoli, and the portion of tuna was more generous than I was expecting. Full bar with many specialty house drinks. Reservations recommended, easy to make with Open Table app.

Frank Susa

This place has been serving amazing food on a consistent basis for something like 30 years. I started coming to CAV as a teenager and I still go back a few times a year even now that I am 45. Food's great, atmosphere is lovely, live music is always a bonus, and so much beautiful art everywhere. Super for date night with the BF/GF!

Debra Chauvin

Food was excellent and service was fabulous. Very enjoyable evening.

Alexandra Wells

Affordable yet delicious, gourmet food, great service and atmosphere. Strongly recommend to anyone in providence!

Bardiya Akhbari

Nice place. It's kind of too much antique, but it's a nice and fancy place. I've had Seared Chicken with poached pears which was okay. The portion was small, but the taste was good. It's sweet though. My friends had Risotto, which they said it wasn't that good this time.

Jay Petronio

A MaziNg Definitely a must go... Food Services Atmosphere...

Brian Georgeson

The chowder and flatbread are excellent

Rita Hansen

Poached eggs with spinach was superb!

Peter Maranci

Excellent food, and not as expensive as I expected, considering the upscale ambiance. The down side: very tight spaces in some areas. My elbows were almost pinned to my sides, because the table we were seated at did not have enough space to eat at comfortably. Also, there are two unisex bathrooms, but one of them is only accessible via a function area which was in use - and therefore not accessible. So there was quite a line for the bathroom. And that too was a very tight space, with people having to squeeze by each other.

Lana Hynes

Very warm and welcoming place with good brunch menu

Shirl Gerlach

We have gone here several times for a New Years' eve dinner. The food is consistently good and the atmosphere - filled with antiques and crystal chandeliers - is remarkable. We went again last night and had the crab cake appetizer and we both had the Parmesan encrusted chicken. Both were excellent and our server, Jennifer, was excellent as well. We are going to really make this a destination spot when we have out of town guests.

alexander gish

Cav is an amazing antique store turned restaurant with antiques. This classy locale has amazing ambiance, quality service and to die for food. The lamb shank is a must try served with mashed parsnip and butternut squash flan. A superb experience. 5 stars.

Jack Rusley

Always solid. Good power lunch spot. Good service. Awesome decor, but no longer as hip as it may once have been.

Scott Lambert

Food was awesome and waiter was pleasant. Waiter had to be reminded of some of our drink orders and messed up parts of our orders/bill.

Thomas R Varricchione

Excellent food. Funky atmosphere. Nice selection of house cocktails. Ample selection of wines.

Kent Pigeon

Unique atmosphere and delicious food. We had a wonderful dinner. They were very accommodating with their gluten free options and understood the concerns of someone with celiac disease.

Jenn Morse

Great food and atmosphere is awesome!

Cameron Botelho

Interesting place, food. The food is good. Price is fair.

sergio jaramillo

Very pleasant place. No Tv which makes it more enjoyable because you get to talk to your companion. The food is excellent.

April Shaw

CAV is a lovely restaurant with amazing atmosphere. It's great for an anniversary dinner or other special occasion. Plan to spend a bit of money if you go here. Believe me, the prices are well worth it.

MaryJane2425 !!!!!!!

Love the food and jazz Singer and the band, on Wednesday night.

Craig Desmarais

This was a cool little spot to grab a bite to eat. The food was delicious and the interior decorating was very unique. It was quiet and the wait staff was kind and helpful. Definitely worth a try!

Jordan Hagenow

We came from out of town to see the zoo and found CAV on Google. What a treasure! The atmosphere is beautiful and unique, the staff was accommodating, and the food was divine. This is our new "place" whenever we come back to RI, for sure.

David Kleyman

Overpriced. Not worth it. Food is barely average. If you do decide to go there stay away from soup. Our entire party got sick after having their lobster bisk soup.

Carlos Vasquez

A very surreal and magical atmosphere. A little slice of heaven

Joseph Vitelli

My wife and I have been going out to dinner in Providence for 15 years and had no idea this place existed. We decided to try this for our anniversary and had a wonderful evening and dinner. The food was excellent. Sorry no pics, but I prefer the moment, to a snap of dinner. The ambiance was also wonderful, especially as everything had a story. Lastly the staff was amazing. If you are like myself and my wife give this place a shot. We are already looking for a babysitter for our next visit.

Nicholas Foley

I wasn't so sure about Cav as I was walking in, for the surrounding area isn't very exciting - old renovated mills. However, upon entering the restaurant I was amazed at how warm and well decorated it was. The atmosphere was cozy yet sophisticated and my girlfriend and I were warmly greeted by the host immorality. What I was most impressed with from my visit was how attentive the waitstaff was. My water glass was never empty, our food came out quickly and the meal was cooked perfectly. They also had some fun drink specials the night we visited. All in all, Cav is a wonderful restaurant that is a must see for anyone who is looked for a fine dining experience in Providence.

Vega Music

CAV is a hidden gem. The decoration immediately gives you a cool vibe. The food is as creative and unique as the surroundings. Classy service , professional waiters. My favorite restaurant.

David Atandi

I had a great sandwich here,"The bag" really large and tasty. Great dessert menu. I would recommend this place.

JJ Petrouski

Awesome service and delicious meals. Party of 11 and the staff was impeccable! We had a wonderful time.

Heidi Howard

Do not come here! If it gets really busy and I can't get in, I am going to be seriously miffed. This place is AWESOME!!!! THE BEST interior design, amazing food, fantastic service, wine, cocktails, Buddah, chandeliers, Moorish lighting, tapestries, sunlight, brick, lychee martinis, 20 yr old tawmy port, chive dumplings. Do not come here!!!

Fred Castro

Cool atmosphere and great food.

Heather H

Cool decor. Great food.

Matthew

Pretty trendy place. It's a little too trendy for my taste but the breakfast was good but I would say it was a little pricey. The atmosphere and decor is definitely not something you would find in your average restaurant. I would bet that many people would give this place a 5 star rating. For me, it's just not my type of atmosphere. I would go back though.

Deirdre O' Mara

Try the pan fried calamari... So good

Jeffrey Woerner

Beautiful ambiance. Delicious drink specials. Amazing entrees. The Braised Lamb Shank was fantastic.

luis e carranza

used to be good... quality went down... options are bland and not very interesting (sandwiches taste like those that you get at the airport). very disappointed...! (hoping things improve)

Alexis Jieun Bae

Food they serve here is amazing! And the interior here is beautiful too. I had kombu salad and My friend had a baboo salad. The salad were amazing and the portion was pretty good. Higly recommend!

R Steele

Nice restaurant tucked away in downtown. Very cozy atmosphere. Service is top notch. Food is fantastic. Can't wait to go here again.

Erik Lengyel

Lovely live music Wednesday night when we went. The food as well was top notch.

Eliana Medina

Food is amazing . The place is different and the people is just great. One of my favorite restaurants.

Adneris Rodriguez

Went for lunch and had a delicious chicken meal and an espresso martini... very good!!

Damien Doyle

This is 2 nights in a row, you asked and I'm no where near CAV restaurant. I had to look up where it's located yesterday. Fix your bug, or get a white hat.

Kenneth Fernandes

Upscale and eclectic is how I'd describe this restaurant. The food is delicious - I highly recommend the calamari appetizer. The scallops & shrimp entree was impressive too. Everyone in our group of 10 loved the food.

April Mainelli

Outside seating in the shade, food was delicious, clean bathroom, and our waiter Jonathan was friendly, courteous, knowledgeable about the restaurant and the surrounding area. Would recommend this place to everyone and looking forward to going back there!

Giancarlo Tosi

Great food and atmosphere.

Frederick Wright

I've been going here since they first opened, and they've consistently been one of the very best, and most eclectic, restaurants and bars in Providence. Highly diverse clientele and staff, quirky décor that merges vintage global antiques with rustic industrial chic design. Had another spectacular meal here on Saturday, the duck confit was out of this world and the service was smooth and polished, unobtrusive but attentive. Acoustics are very controlled, permitting easy conversation even when the place is busy. It is amazing they've been able to maintain this level of quality for so many years.

Christine Mandes

I really liked this place nice atmosphere food was execellent the waiter kurt was awesome i felt like i was at holiday in the familys house i would recommend

Sarah Michael

Best kept secret in Providence! Don't want to spoil it but the food is in a wonderful European style. Go at a slow time to get seating outside in the lovely courtyard!

Dennise D

The atmosphere is always great. The place is beautiful inside, the lights, and the African and Asian art are captivating. The mussels and creme brulee were delicious. The risotto was bland and more like sticky rice, I left most of it. We sat at the bar tonight, service was good, but it's been better (when we've been at a table).

John White

Tried again for brunch after many years away. Food was ok. And 12 dollar glasses of wine iwas not. Good luck moving forward. Nice walk from east side over new bridge and back.

Sienna Iadevaia, L.E.

The Lychee Martini was delicious. The food was incredible and the wait staff was fantastic! Will definitely be back!

Akhi Miah

Food was incredible. Decor was exquisite. Overall nice dining experience.

Nicole Tillery

Excellent service, food, and decor. an update. I just spent a couple hundred dollars at this restaurant and that is my last couple hundred of dollars here. The service was horrible - the next time the waiter doesn't know what he's doing it would be great if he could let us know instead of letting us sit there for half an hour while he twiddles his thumb. I used to recommend this place to everybody. Not anymore. The great food and the decor doesn't matter if you can't be guaranteed to put your order in or your check at the end of the evening. So disappointed.

Kim Digioia

Absolutely amazing atmosphere, food, wine, and service loved every minute..the host could use a little refresher in customer service, but our waiter made up for it above and beyond will definitely go back ..

Max Hayter

Stunning place, amazing food and atmosphere!!

Carolyn Pereira

Kris Senecal

Ann Walkup

Stephanie Bailey

Delicious menu, real drinks, great atmosphere and you can buy the art showcased around the room! They often have live music, I love this place!!!

Mark Santos

Service was excellent. The food was delicious. Will definitely return.

CJ Miranda

Great atmosphere!

Sheila Wescott

Amazing decor! Unfortunately the food was not as good as the decor. Our table had 3 shared apps and 4 entrees and this statement is true of EVERY dish: taste varied from good to great but presentation fell short on EVERY dish. It was almost as though the chef didn't care about plating. The walnut encrusted brie app came with the saddest cracker selection I've ever seen in a restaurant. The brie was good but really should be served with a much nicer, higher end cracker/crostini. The fresh cut pasta florentine was swimming in sauce and mousse. I literally had to move the pasta on to my app plate to eat it.

Benjamin Weintraub

20 years ago this restaurant was fantastic with new and exciting food. Unfortunately, they haven't changed their menu since then. The food is now old, tired, and not even made as well as it used to be. It is a shame that they have let this gem turn into the disappointment that it now is.

Jonathan Wellington

I've been to Cav on multiple occasions, mostly for lunch. It's a well cared for, family owned business... table service is always fantastic, food is very good, and prompt. If you're looking for something slightly upscale without attitude Cav is a great choice.

luis medina

This was the first time that a friend and I came to this restaurant and we were both blown away. We came for restaurant week and the menu was great! The service was top notch and all the food was beyond amazing. Definitely recommend the lobster bisque as a must try. Thank you for the lovely evening!

Ann Vedilago

Food and Service was perfect!! Cant wait to go back!!

Paul Tremblay

Fantastic menu beautifully decorated and great atmosphere impeccable service

Tony Bortz

We really enjoy going to the CAV. It's excellent food, especially the duck! The atmosphere is really nice. Apparently everything on the wall is for sale since it's also an antique store. My husband and I have been there twice and each time we've been placed at the small, intimate tables, which we both really like. It makes the night more romantic. This last time we went I ordered the duck dish and it is by far the best duck I've ever had. My husband had the shrimp and scallops and that was exceptional as well. The waiter was really good at recommending a delicious dessert to share afterwards. The bar is good, but I've only had two drinks from it so far, a few french martinis and a montreal mudslide. Both are delicious but watch out for that mudslide, it is a strong drink! Not a problem for me though! Just a minor warning which you are probably already aware of, but this is not a cheap place. However, it is well worth the cost. You get what you pay for, and that is excellent food, atmosphere, and drinks. The CAV is highly recommended.

Jon Plate

Great food, staff, atmosphere. The best in Providence.

Pam Beaugrand

Wonderful staff and the food was delicious!

P

Hannah Kumlin

Brunch was delicious! Highly recommend!

jp

I was there for a special event, so, I don't know how my experience would compare to the average diner's day. That being said, the wait staff was very attentive and friendly especially given all the special accommodations that they needed to make. The food was ::drools:: The eclectic ambiance was a great conversation starter. Lovely place with no cons to speak of!

Fiona Leo-Mensah

Good food. We all had a good time.

Henry DeGroot

I love the room, the decor, especially the lighting. The food was better-than-average, not superior, but better than lots of places in Providence. The bartender was wonderful and the drinks were delicious. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Vanessa Cooley

Our server, Cliff was very attentive and helpful with our meal selections.

Jessica Figueiredo

Went for brunch around 12:30pm. Glad we had a reservation, the place was pretty full. Beautiful, eclectic atmosphere and delicious food and drinks! I'm a fan!

Giovanni Cecchini Manara

This place is really top notch! As a business traveler from Italy, this is a place where you can find food at a level that reminds you of the old continent

Utierresng Lachancew

Price is high, but if you're looking for one of the best restaurants in Rhode Island than it's well worth it. The wife and I have been here a few times and have never been disappointed.

Harry Middleton

Great little restaurant n Rhode Island and enjoying the music on the weekends is a great way to pass some time.
