You must have seen that the average score it has is really high, and it's based on a high number of scores, so we may conclude that the evaluation is very faithful. If people have bothered to value when they are pleased with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to put tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant is included in the category of Mexican restaurant.
Flavorful dishes, especially the flautas. Model dark beer was smooth and tasty. Will definitely go back. My brother enjoyed his burrito.
Delicious fresh food, sweet knowledgeable waitress. Need to get more publicity and they will do well....authentic tastes like theirs are hard to find...great prices too...
Heard great things, food was good, but slow to receive our food. Quiet lunch day so that was a bummer. Maybe understaffed? Great location, would give it another chance. Wish you could get guac as a side, paid six bucks for an app side that was kind of small for the price. Again, good fresh food, will try again.
Ordeted Pastor Tacos to go, with sour cream and cheese. When I got them home, careful to keep the box the same way it was handed to me, the pork was everywhere and it was incredibly oily. Made an absolute mess and the pork was way too salty. Prices were fair, the service was fast, and the worker was very pleasant. Not a great first experience, but I hope a second trip will yield a better result.
Food is so so, horrible service and horrible entertainment.
A wonderful, tiny authentic Mexican restaurant. Limited indoor seating. Outdoor seating available during warm weather. Limited menu. BYOB. Gravel parking lot or on street parking.
Best authentic Mexican in southern Rhode Island. Prices may seem high but they're not for the portion size. Will definitely be back again and again. Byob a plus, especially since they're a very short walk from Whalers Brewing.
Burrito was packed with white rice and black beans, very little bland chicken. Order a few extras for a $1.50 more and tjey was barely any. Not sure about otherenu items but for what I got it was way over priced and a let down after hearing good things about this place.
Food was excellent. Friendly staff.
Wonderful service! Delicious food. We had a fun time here. I brought the family for my wife's birthday dinner. She LOVES Mexican food. Great to have such a fun place close to home.
Order tamales. You won't regret it. My only regret is that I only got one to go with the street corn and black bean soup.
Small place but great staff. Love the food.
Great food, tiny restaurant
Good food .pleasant environment & prompt.
Friendly atmosphere. Tacos are wonderful! Warning: shrimp is spicy but everything else is very good.
Authentic Mexican food and definitely the place to go for it.
Visiting the area for the weekend...this place was highly recommended by the locals. Did not disappoint. Great tacos. AMAZING tamales. Very friendly staff
Super good! New location is awesome. Bigger kitchen means even faster food and people are super friendly
Vary nice!!!!!
Delicious, fast, and great service! Awesome addition to South County!
Wonderful food and ambiance. I loved the chili rellenos. The live music was wonderful. Highly recommend.
There are so many things I like about this restaurant. I'll start by telling you the food is delicious. In the last year I stopped eating meat and dairy, so sometimes its tricky to find food joints that have dishes that satisfy. I'm huge on flavor, ingredient quality, and interesting options, and Calaveras ticks each of those boxes for me. I was thrilled to see pineapple and cactus on the menu, since these are two of my vices. Sometimes counter style ordering makes people antsy because of the wait (or disappointed because they don't want to get up). The time between ordering and getting our meal was nothing, especially knowing that the folks in the kitchen were working on fresh dishes all the while. Calaveras runs a tight ship, have no doubt. I know from talking to some folks that plenty of people are disappointed with the price of this restaurant. I'm a broke college art student (take a look at their menu, it's real easy on the eyes), so I definitely sympathize with how eating out can burn a hole in your pocket. However, I also believe that when you pay for quality, you are compensating the restaurant for their expertise in their field (mouthwatering, authentic Mexican cuisine) and the years of work they put into getting where they are. To cap off this essay, I'm grateful this place popped up on the map. Not only do they put all of the other Mexican places in the area to shame (there's truly no competition), but they are super welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend you go check them out if you haven't already.
This food is seriously good. Must try
It was not so good. Will not return. Would not recommend.
Love this little local spot. Every time I go it's like a party in my mouth! Definitely try the Beef Caldo Soup, just like mom's! Service is great, prices are reasonable and the ambiance--definitely a go to spot any night of the week! Kudos to the owners!
True authentic homemafe Mexican food in a casual restaurant where you least expect it.
It's not dirty or anything and the service, but the food just isn't good. And they charge for tortilla chips, free at most other Mexican places.
The food is outstanding. So happy they moved to Narragansett.
Great food! Had the pleasure of meeting the owner today and we really clicked! Definitely hooked me on on the food and sent me home with a complimentary bottle of hot sauce! Super nice guy! Highly recommended!
After finding their menu at a local brewery a few miles away, I was very excited to try a large variety of food with my group from work, including the fish tacos, chicken quesadillas, guacamole, and tamales. However when I called to place an order at 7:50pm it just rang until a voicemail answered, which was a full mailbox of course. My group and I were so extremely disappointed we called back 2 more times hoping they were just busy but each time it just went to voicemail. The one star rating has nothing to do with their food, which I am sure is wonderful, but the SERVICE. Their hours on Google Maps states they are open until 9pm but we could get no answer calling them from 7:50-8pm before we gave up and instead drove to nearby Fuegos, which had EXCELLENT FOOD and SERVICE.(5 stars!) Step your customer service game up Calaveras, you missed out on a $50+ order by not answering your darn phone an hour before you close.
Over priced and nothing special
Food was burnt, no flavor, over priced
One of the best burritos I've ever had. Great lunch spot when you're in the area.
Great tacos but pricey
This mexican restaurant is a short walk to Narragansett beach and is owned by chill people. Good vibes, great guacamole and chips, and awesome music.
Amazing authentic food. I’m obsessed. This places puts the other ‘mexican’ restraunts in the area to shame
stopped by for a beer and nachos. Sat outside on the porch. It was a beautiful day and the food was absolutely delicious!
Horrible food. I only order loaded nachos to taste the food...and then I saw the waitress passing by with some disgusting looking tacos. The people who order those taco left with out eating them.
The food was so bland. Very disappointed but the atmosphere was nice with live music. Work on your food!!!
New mexican place nearby me. Excellent experiences thus far, great tacos, great guacamole. Everything i have tried has been good thus far. Only complaint was steak in tacos being really dry the first time i went, but have not tried steak again so dont know if just a bad day. Picadillo, chicken tinga, pork has been excellent.
All the food at Calaveras is excellent! I highly recommend the taco's. But no matter what you choose, you cannot go wrong.
Great food and service
Totally obsessed!! Best Mexican food hands down in South County!! Everything is so fresh and delicious!! Can’t wait to try everything:)
It took way too long for our food, terrible service, and way over priced for this kind of service.
Authentic Mexican cuisine. And they have Juaritos sodas!
Would be nice for smaller portions .A bit expensive for what they serve .
The food was fabulous... salsa: light fresh spicy dinner was delicious... Spartan Chipotle with pulled pork & hand made tortillas rice and beans... portions ... enough for leftovers tomorrow... You have to stop in!
Ordered burrito and got something like a
Was here for the weekend..the fryums type free chips was amazing..salsa was adequate..the chicken is bland, like all "authentic "Mexican cuisines.. Also tried the shrimp taco which was decent. 3 stars for the friendly staff.. Ps:no liquor ..BYOB.
Outstanding take out. Why cook at home?
Not even close to authentic Mexican food. The wait staff was poorly trained basically a shame this is even open.
Healthy options, generous servings
Wonderful
Wait was a bit long for take out.... But that's to be expected when everything is fresh!!! Will definitely be back this summer! Guac was awesome!
Great food for take out, not alot of seating available
Not authentic but some things were ok good was fresh just not authentic receipes more nouveau I guess
A must try. Great food, great people!
Great food, fantastic new location!
This was some of the worst food and service that I’ve ever had. My family and I came in and waited over an hour to get our food. The waitress was not apologetic and barely came over to check on our party. We suggested that they pack up our food to go and they did. Once We got home, the food was really terrible. The fish tacos smelled awful. I will never be back.
Fantastic authentic Mexican food. Low on ambiance but high on quality. Great takeout too.
Best authentic mexican
Shrimp tacos were fantastic. Marinade was flavorful and the slaw was crisp. I think they are still figuring out the growing pains associated with their new location.. service wasn't awful but also not 5 star. We'll definitely be back, maybe in September after the tourists go home
I was in the mood for Mexican food and wanted to give this place a shot. Service was great, but food wasn’t anything to rave over. Being an avid Mexican food lover, I was disappointed. This is your classic American interpretation of authentic Mexican food. Flavor wasn’t there, portion wasn’t there, and it’s an insult to Mexican cuisine. Taco Bell has more of an idea on how to make a flavorful burrito, c’mon man.
Great Mexican food
Only giving 3 stars because they don't have their liquor license yet. The taco pastor is outstanding though. 5 stars. Looking forward to their full operation.
GREAT food
I work right down the street and was thrilled too hear about something new in this area. The food was AWESOME, I had a pulled pork quesadilla and an order of guacamole, what a nice lunch. I have never left a review online, I felt the need to leave 5 stars for these guys, small business with good quality food and the customer service at the counter was really good. The gentleman who took my order just seemed like a genuinely happy person- gives this place a shot, I will definitely be back!
Authentic Style Mexican Restaurant!
Most authentic Mexican food I’ve had in Rhode Island. Simply fresh and delicious! Definitely will be going back again and again.
The tacos are made with fresh corn tortilla shells. Great food.
Oh my god this place just beat every other Mexican restaurant in Rhode Island for the best food! This is the real deal serving authentic Mexican food. Tamales served in the corn husk and all. Calaveras is now my favorite place for Mexican food!
First visit and I can guarantee it won't be the last! Ordered take out; food was amazing! Fresh and full of flavor! Authentic!
This is the real deal folks. The tacos are served on home made tortillas with plenty of filling. The guac was fresh, carne asada excellent. Service friendly. Mexican street corn, so tasty. The place was full of locals
Great place. Reminds of small Mexican eateries from my days in Colorado. Terrific fish tacos, gracious service, and informal style.
Food is excellent!
Found menu to be unclear for soup and taco option.Black bean soup was definitely lacking key spice ingredients making it taste like a bowl of various size black beans in a broth which could have come from a can even tough they said it was homemade.
BYOB, good sized portions, and cheap!
I go for the music Devin Bender kical musician play there
I've been to calaveras twice and I can't wait to go again. The menu is filled with flavorful classics like street corn, tostadas tingas, and flautas. The burritos are stuffed full so the prices match the portions really well. I've had the chicken tingas twice and even though it was a bit cold the second time I would still have it a third. Laso tried the street corn which is amazing! The staff is friendly and the kitchen is fast! Thanks for stocking aguas frescas and Jarritos!!!
Good and friendly service, I ordered the fish tacos and guacamole with chips. I realized prior to ordering the fish tacos that they were not fried, which was too bad. The tacos were ok, not much flavor, wouldn't order them again. Diego's in Newport are the best! The guacamole however was tasty and the chips were excellent, not greasy. I will probably try another menu item in the future, I love carnitas, so we'll see!
Really good mexican food
So glad these guys opened! Great food
Food was delicious! The staff was extremely kind too
Absolutely fantastic. Made to order. Fresh. Adorable place in narragansett. Can't wait to come back.
This family owed and operated place is a gem. Authentic homemade food and comfortable friendly atmosphere. We're lucky to live so close to the Peacedale location. We can't wait to visit the original restaurant on Block Island.
Little pricey
Great Mexican food. Low key order at the counter service. BYOB.
Everyone was nice, and the food was fast, fresh, and delicious. Loved the enchiladas!
Food was decent, price was high.
Expensive
The music was good, food not so great and at the end of dinner an overwhelming smell of urine that ruined it all (seated near bathroom hall, yuck!)
Good food in the local area. Prices were a bit high but not awful. Food and service we're quick and tasty.
Some of the prices were higher than I was first anticipating, but once I got my food, the quality and portion sizes made it well worth it. I had the Chili Rellanos. Everything was fresh, delicious, and prompt. My leftovers made a great lunch for the next day. I can't wait to visit again.
Awesome food for a fair price. Authentic Mexican food
Very good food and a nice location.
