Took my wife for what we hoped would be a nice dinner. Very disappointed. Had to ask for bread and spiced oil dip. Anti-pasto was fairly good but the pizza was terrible. The edges were so over cooked they couldn’t be eaten. The center was oily. Not worth a second try.

Had dinner at Cafe Dolce Vita tonight. It’s Providence Restaurant week. We had 6 people and we did the 2 for one special which stated add a pitcher of Sangria or Margaritas for $20. We were charged $25 for each of the 3 pitchers. The waitress said there was nothing she could do about it. That’s the way it rung up. It wasnt that crowded but the service was AWFUL. The waitress came and asked if we wanted cheese on our meals after most of us were almost done eating. Food not so good. Won’t rush back.

Went for dinner last night. Although the food was OK, we were extremely uncomfortable because they had freezing cold air blasting through the ceiling vents. (It's February!) We asked if they could please turn up the heat. They did. But unfortunately, it was only temporary. After a few minutes of heat, the vents were blowing freezing cold air again. Apparently the staff likes it cool, so customers must suffer. It was so bad we did not even finish our meals. We got the check, paid and left as quickly as possible. We won't return to this place again. I'd rather dine in a meat locker (would probably me warmer and cozier).

Worst Pizza we have ever had as a family! Freshness of cheese questionable. Manager argued with me about paying for bad food. Horrible experience for our whole family! ruined a beautiful summer day! I would give it "0" stars. Work on your Service manners!!!

My husband and I recently went here for our anniversary. Not really knowing about many restaurants on Federal Hill, we looked to Groupon and Yelp to help us decide. When we first got there, the outside was nothing like the cute, romantic Italian restaurant I had first envisioned but it wasn't a dive either. The day before I had made reservations online, when we got there they had no record I had done so. They were very nice about it and still say us right away. The menu was very extensive and had I not reviewed it online before I would have had no idea what I wanted. Our waitress was friendly but understandably super busy because it was a Saturday night. We didn't mind having to wait for her because we were celebrating. We ordered pitcher of red Sangria which was amazing, tri colored tortellini Alfredo which was better than what I can make at home, but not the best I've had. And my husband had shrimp and pasta, which he enjoyed. For dessert we enjoyed a slice of Gregg's Death By Chocolate cake which was so moist and melted in your mouth! Overall it was a nice experience for a special date, we would come back here if we had a Groupon again.

We haven't been to the Hill since autumn and we used to go to Geppetto's. They are now closed, so we had options... Capri, Constintinos, etc... We went to Caffe dolce vita. It was around 245 on Sunday afternoon (today). First and foremost, our server was Jonathan. He was absolutely great. There is nothing negative to say, just praises!!! So, here is where the issues are: wife ordered the pink vodka fussilli. Where was the pancetta? There was no flavor nor a sight of it. I knew going in the veal saltimbocca had a marsala sauce(not my favorite, but was willing), where was the sage that was supposed to be in it. Two pieces of veal, maybe for the lunch size, but the extra $8 constituted what? The homemade cheese and the prosciutto was good. But a 24.95 plate of food, not only not worth it, but even the grated cheese could have been in a bowl, or even freshly grated. We were given butter with the bread, but other people received olive oil. Was it because we ordered the dinner size at 245 and not 300? We were completely bummed with our experience. I'm sorry Mr. Morraco, we have always supported your restaurants and enjoyed your visions, but we feel there was a swing and miss with this one

I had breakfast here on a Monday morning. I was the only person in the restaurant until just before I left, which was nice. I had the Chai and the weekday breakfast special with sausage. The chai was a bit heavy on the vanilla and very sweet - which is NOT a problem. It was quite pretty and very tasty. The eggs and sausage were pretty standard. The potatoes were amazing! Perfectly seasoned and fried. And the Italian bread toast was a nice departure from the usual white or wheat. Would absolutely eat there again.

The three-egg omelets are so big they must be made with pterodactyl eggs. Even the Italian bread is noteworthy. Atmosphere is stylish and low key and even though brunch at midday was packed, the kitchen and service kept up with the demand.

Although the menu is covered with bold highlighted warnings detailing the many rules and regulations that governing your dining experience, it failed to mention that my Phantom Gourmet gift card could not be used to pay for any of the advertised promotions. Also at the very top of the first page of the menu on their website (which I had to download to view) advertised a happy hour special, they refused to honor the offer and said "that should have been removed from the website". In hindsight, the bold printed/highlighted warnings covering the menu should have been a red flag. This was my first and last visit. TERRIBLE!

Service was slow. Ordered a sparkling water with no ice and after two different people brought me tap with ice finally got the sparkling but with ice. They messed up my spinach salad which took a good 15+ minutes to prepare. Salad was over dressed and missing add-ons. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially Italians.

It used to be really good but it's going downhill a bit. Also they charge you $4 if you're sharing a meal with somebody it's called share a plate. Well I had Calamari with galic butter sauce, the calamari was soaked in it even though the calamari was well-cooked it was so soggy the bread crumbs were falling off the calamari and it was too much sauce and just a very small cup ? Of marinara sauce not enough obviously

They get it mostly right. Nice outdoor seating, eggplant parmesan as good as it gets. Waitress....not so good. Long wait for initial contact, longer wait for a drink, longest wait to get the check. It wasn't very busy but everyone seemed to be waiting.

The coffee was mediocre and three different wait staff came to our table and said "I'll be right with you" until, it seems like, the loser of the straw draw came to the table. The service was not great after that as it took awhile for our orders to be taken and for the check to be given. I would say that's acceptable if the place was busy but there were 6 other tables all of which had already been served so that was not the reason for the service. I wouldn't go back.

I’m sorry but if you want a good quality meal with good service this isn’t the place. Hate to say it because I could tell most of the workers were doing their hardest on a busy night but we got the exception. But honestly the service doesn’t matter because the food made us feel really sick and the margarita I ordered was horrific. The location is great but there are definitely better restaurants to bring your loved ones to than this place.

Overall the food is unimaginative. The salads were very average (caprese and avocado with spinach). The pink sauce with fusilli pasta was nice and tasty. It saved the evening. The olive dipping oil is just as is. The bread was atrocious, dry, heavily processed and served cold!

I go here at least once per week for breakfast. As other have mentioned, good omelets; and I really like their plate sized pancakes. By far my favorite deal is the three buck breakfast special. Great tasting breakfast at a good portion for a good price. I've been here less often for dinner, but they do have some prix fixe deals that are okay. I'd recommend anyone in the area to check them out if they are looking for some place new to try.

Very large portions of decent breakfast food at reasonable prices, especially for the daily specials. Be sure and try the spicy Italian breakfast sausage, probably the best I've tasted. Eggs are fresh, never overcooked, and I love the fact they use the Portuguese sweet boletos for their Eggs Benedict. The only change I'd make is that they should really use real maple syrup for their delicious pancakes, French toast, and waffles - this is New England, and the fake corn syrup stuff has no place on anyone's table. Service was extremely attentive and warm, and the outdoor setting in the plaza is just beautiful on a warm summer morning.

I am currently eating one of the best Eggs Benedict I've every eaten. My café mocha is also delightful; the perfect mix of sweet chocolate and bitter espresso. The staff are very polite and this restaurant adds so much to the charm of the neighborhood. I will definitely return.

We had the 6 course tasting menu that was paired with different cocktails. All 6 courses were delicious and we will definitely return for the food. As for the cocktail pairings, it's the reason I only gave 4 stars. The Cappuccino and the home made Lemon Chello we're both great. However, the other 4 cocktails (including red and white wine, champagne and a gin based tart drink) could (should) definitely be improved to same level as the delicious food. And not to forget, the service was awesome.

First time here, and let me tell you it was well worth the money. We had two pitchers of red wine sangria, fried calamari, Caribbean caprese salad and this really spicy pasta I cannot recall the name (my brother ordered for me. I had it with shrimp and chicken.) Everything was amazing! The atmosphere of being outside, hearing the live music, and the water from the fountain, made the experience even more awesome. The calamari was delicious; you can really taste the green, red, banana peppers and jalapeño in every bite. The salad omg, the balsamic vinaigrette on top really topped it off. The pasta was great, really spicy just the way I like it. We enjoyed our time. The service was great as well. I recommend you ask for Leticia or Johnathan to be your server. Will be back again!

I have gone to Cafe Dolce Vita for a number of years now. Many great memories. They have some good food options, great sangria pitchers, and a nice location in Depasqual Square on Federal Hill. All at a very nice price compared to high end options on the hill. The decent but not great food would be just fine because of the price, but as of the last few years, the service has been far beyond awful. Long wait times to get your glass of water (25 minutes last time I went and that's after talking to the hostess about our waiter never showing up - twice). It doesn't get any better from there. If you have time to kill and just want to talk, on a sunny day, it's a very nice spot to sit outside. Just remember: never if you are just a bit in a hurry. It will be a long wait...

I have been here many times and love the food, atmosphere etc. Most recently they’ve staffed a waiter by the name of Jason with a very troubling record. He is a thief and sexually harasses women young and old. This is public record and knowledge, ask his former boss at Cappriccio. The restaurant is better than having this character there, hopefully they do an investigation and get rid of him. He will give them a bad rep like he has to every other RI eatery he’s been employed
